I live half a mile from the Bloomingdale Costco but I did not have a great interaction with the optometrist there and the bedside manner was lacking. Not a place I want to take my kids. Even though this is much further in Oak Brook, it's also cheaper and Dr Loyfman and the rest of her staff is very helpful, with great communication and really help put everyone at ease. It's hard to find a good optometrist that isn't pushing certain frames and lenses on you. I highly recommend this one! read more

The office staff was rude and was not concerned at all when I called and informed them that my son was sent home with someone else's eye exam history and prescription and NOT his own. Also said superior vision was accepted insurance but then charged us for the visit and said its not covered. Costco is covered but not the Dr.visit which makes no sense to go there. So Christine Lowe appointment date 8/18/2026 I have your prescription and records from your doctor visit that day. So needless to say would not recommend , especially if you value your medical privacy. read more

Let me tell you why I like her: 1) she's on time 2) she's cheerful at the door 3) she is knowledgeable, diligent in her examination, takes notes and builds a history, recommends and requests (for my personal circumstance) bi-annual additional check-ups by an ophthalmologist, she LISTENS to my requests and answers questions 4) this is not necessary but she takes personal interest 5) she gives contact samples to ensure the most comfortable fit 6) she recommends where to buy my annual supply of contacts in order to save money (Costco bc if you get a bad / lemon box, you can exchange) 7) I'm so glad she is in-network for me bc I would otherwise be paying the out-of-network fees to see her 100% recommend Emma Loyfman read more

Overall great experience with Dr Loyfman and Costco glasses department. Scheduling an appointment was so easy, for myself and two kids. Dr Loyfman and her assistant were so pleasant and helpful, the kids really enjoyed their appointments almost like it was a game or a science lesson. We ordered glasses for both kids and I got a bunch of contacts and the prices were much lower than I've been paying at my prior eye doctor. Overall very happy! read more

5+ stars to Dr. Emma Loyfman. 0 stars for her staff. I guess averaging these together would be a much lower rating than I gave, but Dr. Loyfman is wonderful, knowledgeable, and has a great "bedside manner". Her staff has little training no understanding of the insurance coverage, or how to look up eligibility, and instead makes you pay out of pocket and seek reimbursement from the insurance company instead of trying to figure out that you are in fact covered. She did this to both of my kids, my husband, and myself. It's infuriating. So you need to decide if seeing this wonderful doctor is worth the incompetency of the staff. Even the staff assisting you with contact lenses instruction has little training. read more

I have gone to Dr Loyfman for several years and she has always been very professional, helpful and caring regarding my eye health. In response to Wm B's comments, most Doctors require an appointment so if you had called ahead of time you could have avoided the problems that you encountered. The eye doctor's office and the Costco optical center where you pickup glasses and contacts are 2 separate operations. I think that blaming the doctor for your troubles with the Costco optical desk not catering to you is a bit harsh. read more

First of all, they have the best optic machines I have ever seen to test your eyes (seriously, these are definitely latest in technology). Dr. Loyfman is an amazing and uplifting doctor. She was very detailed with the eye examination and provided top of the line eye care service. She is very knowledgable and knows exactly what she's doing. I have been using this optometrist since I became a Costco member over ten years ago. I have used them regularly for contacts and glasses, and a few times for some eye problems (scratched cornea). So when it came time replacing my contacts at home and realizing I misplaced the couple pair I had remaining I freaked out. Due for an exam anyway I Googled the hours and prepared to get there first thing in the morning. Arrived a little after 10, the hours posted online via Google, to find their internal sign, behind all the brick and mortar nobody can see through, says they open at 11. Like a fool in a partial, personal emergency I wait. I wait and wait and wait. No one behind the glasses counter asks if I need help. What appeared to me the store manager walked by me numerous times never asking if I need help. Then around 10:45 someone strolls in through the partially opened door and turns the lights on. A couple minutes later (benefit of the doubt) sits and plays with her phone till someone else walks in (presumably the optometrist). They have a little conversation then the secretary goes back to playing with her phone. At 10:58 someone walks in to pick up contacts. I follow in, wait. Then tell her I need an exam for contacts because I do not have any more. Quickly cutting me off tells me they are booked the whole day and can not see me. I politely informed her that I am working / busy the next 13 days and need contacts. I asked her if I should go some place else. She said yes. Thanks for the honesty. So now I feel the need to bring up the fact about the hours. I ask why the hours posted online say you open at 10. She says what. I repeat myself. She says we open at 11. I repeat myself again and she says "well I am not in charge of that." I asked, "do you know who is in charge of that?" She said no. I told her "you all are." Being a business owner myself I know the pains it takes to go through to change your hours you have listed on Google. You have to sign in and click buttons! I know! It's hard. Debating on writing this review I found them in Yelp! Guess what, different hours posted. The time it took to wait on the gentlemen in front of me, have the conversation we had, and wait for the next customer, I could have easily had an appointment. I can fill out that (silly) questionnaire fairly quick (especially I was there not too long ago with a scratched cornea). This whole review is about customer service, they did not have any today. If they are so busy and so booked I imagine they could (nearly) double their profits by utilizing the second room they have for exams. Maybe it's being utilized for all their supplies. But what do I know. Just a business owner myself. When I need glasses I am considering them in the future. They have always been more than satisfactory. However this shows how one employee can change the opinion of a customer in a matter of minutes. read more

I went to Dr. Loyfman's Costco office when I was visiting family in the area for the holidays because I had not had time before I left my own city of residence. I saw Dr. Saeed who works under Dr. Loyfman. I saw him early in the week and he recommended a certain type of contact that was not in stock for a trial. I asked him if they would arrive before I had to leave the next week. He assured me they would. I explained I would have to leave town by a certain date and he assured me they would be there in a couple days for me to come back in for a fitting. I also asked the front desk staff when paying and she assured me the same. 6 days later still no call to tell me to come in. I called 3 different times that day and left messages with the front desk staff before being connected to Dr. Loyfman who said she wasn't sure why Dr.Saeed would have said such a thing since it usually takes 2-3 weeks for a trial to be delivered. She says I can come back in and try some other brands. I make another trip in and am given a brand I had already told Dr. Saeed didn't work for me. First I talked to Dr.Saeed and he said he couldn't help me and when I asked about a refund he said he couldn't do anything about that. I asked who could and he said Dr. Loyfman. I then talked to Dr. Loyfman and expressed my frustration at the situation and the miscommunication between staff. She said "well I was working all day yesterday when would I have talked to Dr. Saeed?" I asked if she did indeed manage this practice and she said yes. I said then you are in charge of managing your staff and customer service, yes? She said yes but did not apologize for how the situation was handled. She gave me a prescription for a brand that was not the preferred but I was told that by law they can't give a script for a contact that wasn't tried in their presence. I was overall very disappointed by their handling of the situation and level of customer service. The practice seems overbooked and poorly managed with the doctors not willing to admit to making mistakes. Even a simple apology would have made the situation better. read more
