I was referred to Dr Sharon Lu by my Dentist Dr Charlene Castro to review and treat a problem associated with bone loss on one of my molars. We met and had an initial review consisting of x-rays and other materials to determine a plan of action. I could have opted to try to save the tooth using bone grafting techniques or to be referred to another doctor for implants. Seven years after being hit by a drunk hit n run driver there was a injury to my face that over those years had eaten away the bone and left a huge hole above my front tooth where a cystic legion had grown. Dr Lu was who I was referred to, and had the most top notch technology right in her office to easily see what was going on. It turned out it was a complex surgery to not only fix the cystic legion but I wanted to save my original tooth as I am a singer and definitely do not want any changes to my voice or waiting a whole year for an implant with a flip tooth. I cannot say enough about the quality of professional care we received from Lu Endodotics. Before coming to Dr. Lu, I had brought my daughter to another endodontist who, after two separate attempts, was unsuccessful in numbing her mouth enough for a root canal. I was told she needed to be put under ($1600 for anesthesia alone!). Not wanting to go this route, I called Dr. Lu, who had been on vacation when the problem first arose. I knew from my own experience, a few years prior, how experienced and knowledgeable she is in the field of dentistry. I was excited to have dr Lu working on my tooth. But so much of what she said to me, didn't make sense and rude. I'm going to try to be as fair as possible. I called on Monday and asked if they had any availabilities. The person who I was speaking with, said they have 4:15pm spot on the same day. So I was like: "yes I can make the drive down there". Mind you, I'm from LA and PROVIDED ALL THE INSURANCE INFO prior. When I got there, the front desk tried to check me in, dr Lu came up told her to help the other lady who was also there which I don't mind. So I sat down, about 5 minutes later her intern called me up again, however dr Lu again told her to charge the other lady consultation fee. They called me up the THIRD time, to collect my information. Told me sit down, the FOURTH time the intern called me up again to inform the treatment. She informed me that I have to pay $198 up front (which I don't mind). However, I told her my insurance should have covered it. She went and talked to dr Lu, she came out. This is where the whole interaction went south. I: I was just at a dentist 3 days ago, and my insurance covered the whole consultation. So I think you guys should be covered. Dr Lu: we don't call insurance anymore. As they take hours to pick up so we can't check. (WHAT?!?) I: I understand. If you wanted $198 to be paid up front since you don't check with insurance anymore. Don't you think the person who scheduled me should have let me know? Dr Lu: Yeah they should. But today I only see emergencies you can read the sign at the door. We squeezed you in (so she did me a favor?) I: Nobody told me that either. You said you had 4:15pm available so I showed up. Dr Lu: well insurance should reimburse you once we file a claim. I: Okay I don't mind to pay at all. Are you sure they going to reimburse me? Dr Lu: No I don't know. If you are not happy you shouldn't move forward with us. You know we are specialist who don't deal with insurance. And your general dentist who prefer you who should have told you. (WHAT?!?) I don't know if she was having a stressful day, but her logic makes no sense. And the way she runs her office is so unorganized. She kept making her intern dropped whatever the girl was doing, to do what she told her. The intern and I were just chilling, and every time Dr Lu involved, she made the interaction worse. Everything was my faults: I didn't read the sign at the door when I showed up with a SCHEDULED appointment, I didn't know she doesn't deal with insurance because they takes forever to pick up the phone, I didn't appreciate unknowingly they squeeze me in on her emergency day only, I should have known they charge $198 up front when nobody informed me. This whole interaction with Dr Lu was mind blogging. It is not what you say, but how you say it. Dr Lu doesn't have efficient communication and customer service skills. I have been a patient of Dr. Lu for a couple of root canal procedure now. Once in 2012 and again this past months. Coming to her again reminds me how wonderful she is with her treatment. Her office is modern, clean and comfortable. She has all the newest technology to X-ray and 3D scans to be able to diagnose my situation and come up with a plan to treat it instantly. I love that. There isn't a need to wait for results and come back for another appointment etc. Who likes to keep going back to a Endodontist office, I don't know. This visit, I am dealing with two fairly serious situation where I had to get a root canal done in France while visiting last year. The Endodontist there did a terrible job with my cracked tooth and a year later I am finding out that his work has caused my gums to be infected. Dr. Lu diagnosed the problem, explained them clearly and planned a procedure to extract and do an implant. This normally would seem to be an extensive procedure and a daunting one. Dr Lu helped me with a infected root cannal. She not only cured the infection but did it without forcing me to replace the crown above itl That is not something she has to do but is sure saved me a lot of money. She also uses a less invasive set up as being restrained in closed spaces bothers me a lot. A pervious doctor used a large wedge in my mount to keep my month open and a screen that covered my whole face so I couldn't see. I couldn't handle that. Dr Lu uses a small rubber wedge with is easily removed and a small screen which cover the lower part of you face which is much less stressful. She can also prescribe mild anxiety medication for those who need them. Definitely as good as it gets. read more

My wife had tooth pains while we were in town. and Dr. Lu was able to squeeze us in for a consultation and evaluation despite our limited availability and her busy schedule. Filling out the forms online ahead of time was a breeze, and the staff was extremely friendly, professional, and helpful. When we arrived, we called to let them know so that we can follow their covid-19 safety protocol, which we really appreciated given that we had our kids with us and they didn't qualify for the vaccine yet. The dental office was spotless, and there were multiple professional-grade air filters, hand sanitizers, and foot gloves for people to wear to minimize their contact. All of the staff were doubly-masked with their hair tied and hands covered, and everything in the office was individually wrapped to limit potential exposure, which made us feel very safe with our kids there. Dr. Lu went through a very thorough exam with us, using the fanciest instrument and camera that I have ever seen at a dental office, and she took the time to explain to us what she would recommend if she were in our situation. We ended up not needing to get any major procedures done given that we were headed back home soon and my wife's pain had subsided, but Dr. Lu took the initiative to share with us our x-rays and referred us to her professional network near our home so that we can get the issues taken care of using the best prosthodontist, endodontist, and oral surgeon that we can find for the same cost, which we never realized actually existed. Dr. Lu offered to talk to the dentist when we found one that we liked so that we did't have to repeat the exams and x-rays and she can share with them what we really needed instead of being oversold. I just had a root canal procedure done last week by Dr. Lu and she was absolutely fantastic. I was told by another orthodontist that my tooth was cracked and had to be extracted.
