the broth was so yummy it was a little creamy so perfect and the "meat" that they used was absolutely delicious i also got spring rolls perfect crunch really recommend coming here

    kale avocado shiitake bowl

Was here on a Tuesday around lunchtime and had a complete pick of tables for a group of two. We ordered the curry samosas and the kale avocado shiitake bowl. The curry samosas were okay, but in my opinion could have used more spice/flavoring - the sauce was great with it. The kale avocado shiitake bowl was definitely the best part of the meal. The ingredients tasted fresh and the bowl was a large size. Very kind service and was surprised at how the place didn't have many people for lunchtime. Would definitely return to try some of the other dishes, especially some of the tea they had out.

Miso soup (lunch special.) Alright. Would get the salad next time

Notes: Updated the site as it's more active. Also their menu (in PDF format) can be found here https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5ab2ab565417fc4abf938b8d/t/6387cc1e5cd61036b70f5ed3/1669844003475/AABoerum%2BCobble%2BHill+May+18VersionB+6+23.pdf Also, yes they use a lot of meat substitutes but the same thing happens at Buddha Bodai and others so it's expected. As can be seen from my many reviews, I'm not a vegan or vegetarian or close to it but I stopped here once as the lunch special sounded reasonable. The main dish comes with a choice of miso soup or mixed green salad and a choice of either a spring roll or steamed pumpkin. Depending on which special you get, it comes with either a choice of white rice or mixed rice, white rice only, or no rice at all if it's noodles or curry. Their lunch special is $12.95 which is a good deal for the area. There weren't that many people there and it was pretty quiet inside. I got the L4 lunch special or Smoked Teriyaki Seitan on a Bed of Sugar-Snap Peas with the mixed rice (Thai black, red, and brown) and the miso soup with steamed pumpkin as my choices I generally don't like spring rolls. I probably would get the mixed salad next time as the miso soup was a bit bland but as noted by others a bit less salty than other places. I waited a while and the friendly waiter apologize for the long wait for my main which was appreciated. Seitan is a wheat gluten variety and wheat gluten is easily my favorite meat substitute as I hate the texture of pea protein and I find tempeh to be a bit chewy normally. It has something similar to a chicken texture and the meat was well prepared and the teriyaki wasn't overly sweet and it paired well with the seitan. The peas were well peas and the mixed rice had a good nuttiness. The pumpkin on the side was tasty and very fresh though I'm pretty sure it was kabocha which is technically a squash and not a pumpkin but whatever. I would likely go back and get the black pepper seitan as it has more interesting vegetables (Chinese broccoli/gai lan and shiitake) and hopefully be able to get the mixed rice instead of white rice. Otherwise when it gets even colder, I would probably go back for the kimchi (or kimchee as said there) pumpkin gumbo. Solid spot. Low 4 mostly from the great lunch special but I'd go back to try more and maybe update it to higher.

Lunch special "Prosperity Platter" with black, red & brown rice blend and steamed pumpkin
    Gary B.

We had the lunch special which for $15 comes with a choice between miso soup or a salad and a spring roll or a slice of steamed pumpkin. There is also a choice with some of the mains to have white rice or a mix of black, red and brown rice. I had the salad, pumpkin, the "Prosperity Platter" (tofu and vegetables) main course and the whole grain rice mix. The salad wasn't that good and I didn't care for the dressing either but the pumpkin was tasty. The mixed rice was good and the Prosperity Platter was okay. The service was fine and our orders came out quickly.

Came here with some out of town vegetarian friends and they loved it! I've been to the one in crown heights a year ago and remember how good it was. They have nice big comfy booths. Low light but not so low you can't see what your eating. It's a very warm, comforting and classy atmosphere. Didn't have to wait at all on a Saturday night. And the place does seem spacious, not noisy. We were able to have a nice conversation and catch up easily. Which is hard to do, since most places are noisy and cramped in the city. All dishes are really affordable. For 2 apps, 4 entrees and a pot of tea it was only 20 dollars a person. My entree was only 14 dollars and it was huge. You could really share everything if you wanted too. I got the sweet and sour "chicken" which came with rice and a huge serving of broccoli, peppers and cauliflower. Loved the sauce and the texture of the sietan. I will definitely come back!

I really wanted to like this place but i just couldn't. Almost every dish has some form of faux meat which is just absurd to me. I've been vegan for over a decade and don't understand why places do this. Use fresh vegetables!! I asked for Pad Thai with veggies and there were NO veggies just onions it was so unflavorful. I also asked for the curry samosas and they arrived FROZEN in the middle and they never brought me new ones or apologized. Very disappointing.

Vermicelli with seitan and a bunch of other stuff. So good and this little hint of curry in the seitan that was a nice surprise.

I've been a regular at this place for so long I am kind of shocked I've been sleeping on leaving a review. I teach musical theater around the corner from here once a week and the peaceful ambiance is the perfect salve for my jangled nerves. The menu boasts and interesting blend of all-vegan Asian food. Some curries, rice dishes, and the like with the tofu, tempeh, seitan trifecta serving as the "protein" for most dishes. Just as I was getting super familiar, and perhaps burning myself out on some items, they updated the menu and added some truly interesting soups and main dishes. What was already a solid assortment of dishes really went to the next level with these changes. Quite a few surprises and just outstanding dishes. The staff is reliable friendly, welcoming, and the kitchen is fast. The more I type the more I realize I love this place. Definitely check it out if you are in the neighborhood. Vegan or not, there's plenty to enjoy!

We happened to get there during brunch for our first visit, which was great because it was a mix of both lunch and breakfast options. We split one main dish from each part of the menu. The Tofu Benedict was the best Benedict I've ever eaten IN MY LIFE, and also top three best breakfasts I've ever had. The smoked tomato is what makes that dish extra special. The rosemary home fries on the side were also incredible and I'm really picky when it comes to potatoes. We also split the Chickpea Parm sandwich but I was so full that I ended up taking a majority of my half sandwich home. Which was perfect because it was even better cold! The Italian flavors mixed with the savory chickpea patty and the bitter greens was just perfect. The only thing that wasn't great (not docking any stars for this) was dessert. We ordered the Strawberry "Tiramisu." I'm putting Tiramisu in quotes because I detected no espresso and no cinnamon. It was super bland. I let my husband eat most of it. Would not order that again. I am looking forward to returning! The wait staff were really friendly, the ambiance was super pretty, and food came out super fast and hot. Perfection.

Warm atmosphere, a strong selection of vegan food and drinks, and the kind of place that made the evening feel special without trying too hard. It's since closed, and from what I understand it wasn't about the food or the love from regulars, it was the brutal economics of running a sit-down restaurant in a delivery-and-takeout world. Nine years of serving genuinely great vegan comfort food in Williamsburg, done in by margins rather than quality. That's a rough way for a good restaurant to go. If you ever got to eat here, you know what was lost. If you didn't, I'm sorry you missed it.

HAAM had been on my must-visit list for over two years, so I was excited to finally check it out. The real highlight of my visit was Ajaya. She was both my hostess and server, and her hospitality was outstanding from start to finish. She recommended the empanada appetizer, which was absolutely delicious, and a refreshing drink made with sorrel, tamarind, and lime juice that was easily one of the best things I had all day. If management sees this, please recognize Ajaya. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely made the experience enjoyable. For my entrée, I ordered the steak and rice. The vegan steak itself was impressive--the chuck-style texture was spot on and really satisfying. Unfortunately, the rest of the plate didn't quite match it. The steak was only warm, the rice and beans were barely warm, and the chimichurri lacked the bright, flavorful punch I was expecting. On the bright side, the sweet plantains arrived piping hot, perfectly caramelized, and were easily the standout on the plate. After waiting more than two years to visit, the food didn't quite live up to the anticipation. That said, Ajaya's service absolutely did. She was the star of the show, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.
