Wrong, Filipino dude starts jamming the new filter into the slot without checking the size. Turns out it's the wrong size and now the door/contrapment to the filter cannot close which causes a clicking sound. I go back and let them know they screw up, they say take it to a mechanic now??? Transmission fluid. The service said would be about 180 for an older model Ford explorer. About xlt. Plus tax. 1st told me about hour or hour/ half. So, it was about 15 minute service And did not even request changing filter. Which is usually çhanged when changing transmission or oil. They did not charge tax. So I went back and asked if filter changed they say no. So I asked they change it. The transmission filter too. So they said 160 this time out door. So I returned In an hour half. They changed it and I asked for filter and box for my record. So I returned to my parking lot. When returned then the engine would not start back up after I parked for 10 minutes. It is in another service place Now. When I called lube boys back. They allege they done nothing else to Interfere with engine and its parts that would make it stall or not start again. I've lived in San Lorenzo for over 20 years. I started coming to Lube Boys about 4 years ago. The customer service is always top notch.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. ACTUALLY, STAY AWAY FROM HERE. If you do get work done here and paid with a credit card, you should double check your charges because we got 2 charges on our credit card when we only had one receipt which had all the work, supposedly done, in one receipt. I don't know what my husband was thinking of when he went here for an oil change. We only go to one reliable place for an oil change and we have a good mechanic that we trust. But sadly, he went here, to get an oil change. And just like the other reviewer, they said that he needs new brake pads. I would've never gotten his brakes done here and have taken it to our trusted mechanic. But they convinced him to get new brake pads and he got it. The charges with the oil change and the brake pads were over $500 and we are not even sure that the job was done properly. The part that really got us was when I went online to pay our credit card bill. They made two charges on our credit card, one is for $500, and another for $88. We have the $500 receipt for the brakes and the oil change but we never received a receipt for what the $88 is for. This $88 charge on our credit card was not for other additional services as we didn't get anything else done. My husband went to their shop the very next day and he got the run around. He asked why he was charged another $88 and they said that "people make mistakes". He got there at 9:00am and was told that the person that can help him will be in at 10:00am. He came back at 10:00am and was told that the person in charge will not be in at 11:00am. My husband was super-pissed now and made a lot of noise. They finally gave his $88 in cash. He learned his lesson and will never go back here for any services what-so-ever. read more

They offer fast service and I am usually out within the 10 minutes as advertised. They are professional and make great recommendations such as what type of oil your car might need and other services especially you have an oldef car and are NEVER pushy with the upsell if you decline the services or recommendations. My first time at this place and will not be my last! I have a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan and I went to the dealer which I knew would be more but I got quoted a ridiculous amount. I left there and went straight here to Lube Boys in San Lorenzo. The person who helped me was Joe and I think his co-workers name is Leslie (I might be mistaken). They were super friendly, knowledgeable, and hella fast. I was seriously in and out of there super quick. I got an oil change of synthetic oil, changed the oil filter, and also the air filter! I had to get oil change, but a plate under my car was bent and they let me know and that also that there was a gab in between that if wider could have cause oil to leak onto a gasket and cause way more damage that would have been costly to fix; however since it was caught in time they fixed it made sure no gaps. This place lack of car mechanics knowledge. They hand me my car key after failure of my car's AC freon charge, I thought the service was done so I paid and left. I found out the air conditioning still warm within next block, I immediately drove back, Charlie told me may be something wrong with your air conditioning. I contact many other repair shops get the same answer. If failure of freon charge, I will have to pay $50 for the cost or free if I get the repair at same shop. So I went to other shop and got it repaired. I came back to lube boy inform the result hopefully get some credit or comfort. The owner turned his back on me and walked away. This is a bad business practice and bad attitude. So I think they should get a zero star on yelp. read more

Went to get ac service and oil change done, paid and later it was discovered my compressor wasn't working. They refused a refund and said I can come back once the compressor was fixed for the ac portion. I insisted they should have checked that before doing any work since I was coming in FOR ac service. They were rude, and were not offering reasonable matters to find a solution. Will not going back and I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This has been my go to place for oil changes since 2014 and I haven't had a problem with them yet. They are quick affordable and efficient. They check your fluids and brake pads to make sure you're good without pressuring you for a sale. They even vacuumed my car, filled up my washer fluid, cleaned my windows and put air in my tires! 2 stars only because they are the cheapest oil change in town. I would have give five, but over the years the up-sales are getting out of hand. DO NOT come here for anything other than an oil change, and only get your oil changed. My fiancee just got charged to change transmission fluid without an invoice or clearly stating their intent. Upon furthering questioning, 'it needs to be done every 15k miles'. Yeah maybe in a high use manual vehicle, not a Honda civic that barely gets driven (and had its fluid changed once already). They also decided replacing her air con filter was necessary and did not require her consent (FYI, one of the easiest forms of maintenance possible in a Civic). They tried to pull the same thing with me during my last visit but I told them no. I will not be coming back. And I will be telling everyone I know not to bother and go somewhere that has a bit of decency left in its employees. Its a matter or principle. If you are hurting for cash, increase the base cost of your services, its still almost half the cost of any other shop in town and I would gladly pay it. But taking advantage of loyal customers (we have been coming here for the better part of a decade), is inexcusable, and downright shady. Everything went smoothly and I was out of there in under 20 minutes. I was charged exactly what I was quoted. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to work with such honest and caring people. I came here to get my a/c recharged. They filled my truck up and turned her on and it sprayed right back out. Loud. They told me I had a leak and removed all 48oz of Freon. The neighbor across the street warned me about going to Lube Boys, saying "didn't input the oil, engine melted down". I dismissed it, she's not a mechanic, what does she know? My mechanic just charged me $ 359 to replace the oil pan. Why did the oil pan need replacing? Because the Drip Pan Screw that Lube Boys adjusts every time I go there was tightened so tight it stripped the threads on the oil pan. Keep this documentation.... maybe somebody can use it to support a valid small claims case. I don't have the time to pursue, but am willing to provide my testimony. read more

Have usually been going to Fremont location. Recently have been going to San Leandro location due to work schedule. First 2 times satisfied. However, this last time they needed to clean oil and transmission fluid. I consented because my car is my work office. Asked them before I left if fluids topped. They told me yes. Then guess what? 1 week later my coolant alarm is reading low. Pissed off, I stop at AutoZone to get coolant. Then took back and spoke to manager. He claims my coolant was low due to the weather! I got an oil change 2 weeks ago and a friend of mine was checking my fluids cause he used to do my oil changes he told me I need and oil change and I was like I had one two weeks ago and he was instantly mad and said where ever you went they played you and sure enough he pulled my car to his garage and changed the oil it was pitch black and the filter was degraded. I have came here twice and from the looks of it they haven't changed it either times I am African from Togo I don't know if this is racially motivated but it kinda feels like it by looking at the other reviews if you are Hispanic or Latino the reviews are good. I've come here the past three cars I've had and they usually provide amazing service. I just recently took my vehicle for an oil change and they recommended the change of transmission fluid which I agreed to. After they change the oil, the transmission goes out in my car. Read some good reviews here plus it's really close to where I live so I decided to give it a shot. RH took care of me and my overall interaction with him was VERY professional and informative too. Didn't force any products on me and explained the difference in pricing. And the technicians in the garage got to work right away upon my arrival which was pretty nice. I was able to bring my car, have a cup of coffee down the street and come back an hour later and my brakes were completed.
