Very dis-satisfied !!! I Owen a 2016 VW and I needed spark plugs , coils replaced.I only needed the labor done,I bought all new stuff. The next day, it was all bad! My car was still mis-firing, so I brought it back. They want to charge me another$120 for a diagnostic test,I said ok. They told me, I need a whole new engine.Come to find out, the spark plugs that I bought were not in my car? and the ones they put in, tor up my motor permanently. NOW WHAT ? Unfortunately I have to give them at least one star, which they don't deserve, to post this review. Following up on my prior review, San Leandro Honda identified that Quality Auto Care had incorrectly installed my brake switch, leading to significant brake damage costing me nearly $2000. Despite sending Quality Auto Care a demand letter for reimbursement, they failed to respond for almost three months. Subsequently, I initiated legal action against them in small claims court. Interestingly, the day after they were served, they attempted to settle by writing a check to the Bureau of Automotive Repair (which wrote them a citation). Given the disruption and inconvenience this matter has caused, I chose not to accept their check and will proceed with the legal process in small claims court asking for more than the check they wrote me. read more

Was not pleased at all !! I was there before they opened. Left my car . Called them to check on my car at 2pm . No answer, then went back to there shop. They totally bypassed working on my car and instead was working on about 12 other cars . Was it because I was black? Discrimination !!! that is what it is. I took my car away from them. I think it's time for all of them to retire. My vehicle is never fixed right and weird thing is- I always leave there with them saying something is still wrong. After they collected the money. I think they do alot of volume but they definitely do not do a thorough job. It's always done quick yes but rush rush is merely a way to get the maximum rotation of cars in for them. Depending on what's wrong with your car, they'll usually do a free diagnostic to find out, but again, if there's no issue or if it's a simple fix, they'll tell you... unlike other mechanics who would just take advantage of a customer with a huge diagnostic fee or lie about what the issue is ending up costing you an arm or a leg. read more

My car was overheating so I took the car to these guys and they replaced my radiator on a Tuesday. On that same week on Saturday I was stuck on the freeway from my car overheating and had to get towed. Come to find out they installed a torn upper hose to the radiator that was leaking coolant all over causing it to overheat. When I went back to the shop they said that the pipe bursted but it looks like a clean cut to me and should be hard to miss if you're installing a new radiator. Oil change was done in less than 30 minutes and the mechanic also filled up air on my tires without me asking. Most mechanics will not do that on their own. Great Place. I'm new in town in Castro Valley. I was looking for an honest place where I can get my brakes fixed. I found Quality Auto Care. They replaced the rear shoes and drums of my Corolla. However, a couple of days later, the new brakes were screeching as if they were worn-out. I took it back to them, and they replaced them at no cost. They have a good warranty. That's why I've taken my cars to them for many years now but last week they did something that compelled me to write this review. My check engine light was on, and it turns out it was something serious this time. Instead of simply quoting me the price to fix it, they took the initiative to check the warranty on my almost 10 year old van, and found out that the manufacturer had extended the warranty for this very issue. I found them as I was in a truly investigative mind frame combing Castro Valley and San Leandro for ANYBODY who could work on my brakes without charging an arm and a leg. Though there are lots of great places, these guys were the closest to me and the best. They charged half what I was being quoted by a national chain. They do this cool thing where they actually show you the part they replace which makes you feel better that they did the right repair, but I already was happy just with the price. I brought my car in at 10am and it was done by 3pm. They usually work pretty fast. I would bring your car in as early in the day as you can (they open at 8am). He even tightened my parking brake because they said it was too loose. Just the nicest guys, too. Their front office is tiny, so it's best to leave your car and then do something else...don't hang around! There's really no waiting area unless you like watching mechanics getting their hands dirty. Oh, and my wife brought in her car and they told her it still had 60% left on the brakes so she could still drive it a couple more months. In that case they do charge about 20 bucks for the labor. I didn't see they were up on Yelp yet (or anywhere for that matter) so I thought I'd write this and hopefully this gives you enough info. read more

I dropped in here because it was across the street from O'Reilly, where I bought a part to fix my broken heater/air/defrost, and they told me that Quality Auto Care was the closest place that could help me put in the part. I explained the problem to the guys and they helped me RIGHT then and there (even though they were working on other cars) and explained that the problem in fact was not what I thought it was. I decided to leave my car there so they could diagnose the problem. I always cross my fingers that I encounter honest mechanics since I don't know anything about cars and feel that I've been taken advantage of in the past. Vu was very nice and several hours later, after ordering the part I needed and showing me which part he replaced, I walked away with a heater/air/defrost that worked perfectly for about $160. I'm not sure if this is a "cheap" price, but it is definitely a MUCH better price than what Honda was offering, which was a $130 DIAGNOSIS (OMG I am avoiding Honda dealers at all cost). My car had a starter problem, so apparently needed to be fix soon. Anthony (I think he is the owner) took me in on the same day on Saturday. Diagnosed the problem the fixed it on the same day. They even showed me the bad starter and explained the problem. I am taking away one star because I believe they have more than 100% markup on the parts. I don't know about cars and this is the first time ever I went to a independent auto shop to get my oil changed.THEY TOTALLY SCAMMED ME. When I ask them for the price they say it will be around $70-75 FOR OIL CHANGE because the synthetic oil they use cost $10 per liter. And I questioned because from what I heard they usually cost $50-60 and they DIDNT answer me. But I didn't want to be a jackass went along with it hoping I will get some premium oil. After I got the bill it shows the synthetic oil ONLY COST $7.4 per liter and LABOR FEE is $30!!! What in a world changing oil cost $30. After asking around, one of my friend as their regular customer actually is just did his oil change not long ago and only cost 40 something. If labor is 30 does his oil only cost $10? The numbers don't add up. (I don't know if the following things are no normal or not but I will just include it just to be clear. I also asked a few thing(clean/dust off engine air filter and add some air to the tires. They told me they can't clean/dust off the air filter only way is to replace it, also on the bill page it says air pressure regulated to 35 psi, however, in car I only see psi went up 32-33 where before was 31-32.) I would give no stars if I could. This place damaged my sons car while it was in their shop. We took it back four times to make them fix what they damaged. Of course they denied damaging the car. Now we have to get rid of the car. When they removed parts to fix the original problem they damaged some other part, didn't shake when we took it in, they didn't fix it correctly after taking it back several times and will cost to much to fix ELSE where. Brutally honest shop. Their hourly rates are about $100 dollars/hr and that's as low as you can get in the bay area. They don't try to lie to you, they tell you what they know. Reading some of the reviews saying they can't figure out the issue, that's a common issue in automotive repair. Usually if your car is like that, that means it's been in some serious neglect and needs more attention than just a $75 diagnostic fee. They do mark up parts on their end a lot, but the upside is that you get their warranty with it. If you buy your own parts, you automatically assume responsibility for said parts and extra labor required. read more
