EXCELLENCE for Huyn! He was an expert with troubleshooting car issues. My mom's caregiver has a very old Nissan Centra that had an engine light on, due to ignition issue. He was the one that diagnosed. He took the job although he was closing soon on a Saturday, fixed it well and was so efficient that she never had any issue since. Fraud shop. Bought a Groupon for an oil change and they refused to honor it. The coupon says you can choose from both locations the one in Hawyard and in San Leandro. Both locations extremely rude and unprofessional. Hanging up on me multiple times and would not allow me speak with the owner. Too bad because the owner will face now a complaint for fraud with the Department of Automotive Repair! Never go to this crook shop. So, I delivered parts here from my job and just based off that I could tell this shop is poor quality, but I took my car here for a smog because I was recommended here by the shop I normally go to that couldn't smog at the time. When I went in he said he had several cars ahead of me, I told him I could wait, as it would be about an hour. I have a CA CARB legal air intake on my car, which I told him as I got there and after 15 minutes of me sitting around waiting he decides to tell me I should come back another time as he can't check my car with the CARB LEGAL air intake...If you don't want to do the work tell me straight away so I can leave and take my business to a shop with quality service! I google a muffler service near me and this auto care pop up. I called and i was answered by a guy. I told him that i would like to put a shield on my prius catalytic converter. He said for less than a hundred dollars, i said OK. He told me, he has a different kind of protection, he send me a picture right away and it looks much better then i said I'll think about it. Then 12 midnight i texted him and he replied in a good manner And i will come by to bring my car and he said " bring car and we will install it for you and have a great night". A very nice person. The morning come and brought my car and with no qualms very friendly person i talk to Mo and show the shield and immediately put my car on the bay lift, 10 min done. This is my primary mechanic for both vehicle I own. I have gotten to know Tran the owner and he is great to work with. He works with me. One of my car has expensive parts so I am able to purchase them directly online at a cheaper price in Arizona and they just charge me labor. The guys are Vietnamese which can be a little bit difficult to understand but the quality of work they do, it is well worth going there. I have been taking my cars to them for almost 10 years now. The owner is kind and his senior mechanic Nam is good as well. They are very detailed oriented. I have shared my experience with many and they have started going to them as well. read more

I found this place from groupon and the person in the office quickly checked me in and scanned my groupon coupon and started working with my smog check right away. Extremely fast and efficient. I think I was out of there in less than 20 minutes. I cannot say anything about the competency of the smog check because I am not a car person, but I can say the worker takes good care of the customer and honor the groupon coupon without any problem. Went today on the recommendation of my son. I have an 2007 focus with a headlight out. Everywhere else I went wanted a Crazy amount money for labor due to the design of the vehicle, apparently it's not a simple process. So I dealt with Nam who said if I get my own light he would only charge me $35.00 for the labor of putting it in. I ran to the Auto parts store up the street, got the light and was done in minutes. Nam further explained that the connection was loose that is why the light went out, he stated that he tightened it so it should be okay but if not bring it back. HORRIBLE SERVICE! I will never be returning to this place. I decided to go and get an oil change since it is really close to home, and they had a Groupon. As soon as I got there I told him I just wanted a basic oil change. He was very nice and happy and gave me forms to fill out. When he told me the total cost I kindly held my phone out to him and said " I have this Groupon" as soon as he heard those words he rolled his eyes and said well there is going to be a $5 oil disposal fee that you have to pay that is not included in the Groupon. Ok fine, I'll pay disposal cost. 20 min later the same mechanic returns to me and says "Excuse me miss, I just read a note inside the engine of your car that I'm going to have to use a special oil and you have to pay an additional $60" at this point I'm livid, clearly he's trying to get over on my and rip me off. read more

These guys are a rip-off. I brought in a 95 Toyota Tercel because I failed a smog test at another place (had to be a "test only"site). The check engine light came on during the test. They charged $59 just to turn the light off and read the code. Thats just a 5 minute operation. They tell me its the EGR valve and for addition $49, they would clean it. So after paying the additional $49 they said it should pass the test. Well it failed the second smog test. After getting home, I couldn't see any evidence that it was cleaned. To properly clean it , you need to remove it. The rusty bolts and connections were undisturbed. My neighbor recommended going to Bo's Imports. So I made an appointment with Bo (they don't even charge for clearing the "Check Engine Light"). read more

I took my son's 2002 Camry for an oil change and they did an inspection (service included in the oil change). If not for the mechanic's diligence I wouldn't have known that my engine torque strut mount is damaged. The following week, I took the same car for smog test. Avoid this business. you will save money and time. I had them change my vehicle's oil and they broke the oil filter cap. The worst part was that they did not inform me that they broke it and let me leave their business thinking that everything was in order. An hour later i noticed that oil was leaking and took the vehicle back to them. They refused to take responsibility. My 1st time there I spoke with tran. I told his I needed a major tune up on my car and if he could beat the price of anybody else. He told me yes. So I got quotes from a few places. I the cheapest I got for a major tune up was $475 tran beat there price and only charged me $370. Nothing more nothing less. I was very happy and satisfied with my car once it was finished. Don't trust the good review. This guy Tran and his staffs, they are bunch of scams. I found a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero SUV selling for $2500 in craiglist and communicated with Tran via email 11/2/14. I asked if he could lower the price, he said $2000 on the floor. He said everything is okay and he said it already had the smoke certificate. Sounds pretty reasonable so i told him I will come over the following day (11/3/14). He said he will be there at 10:00 am. I trusted him because I found his store address, East Bay Auto Care and this yelp got good comments about Tran used cars quite some time. I arrived the location. The staff named Vic told me Trans was not here yet. So I told him about I come to buy this SUV and the price Trans told me is $2000. This staff Vic got very angry and said this is the not the price it should be. it should be $2500 He said he is the owner of this SUV and the price is way too low. I showed him my iphone the email message I had with Tran. He said it was not Tran, it must be his son. I talked him over and Vic finally said $2300. And there is no smoke certificate if I want one I have to pay $50. I only bough $2200 cash with me and I said what about I paid the rest using my credit card. Vic said okay and after put the car ready for smoke check, there is another guy jumped in and angrily said no. He said the other $100 has to pay in cash. He can only accept the $50 smoke check in credit card. This unknown guy said I can go out and find some cash, somewhere or anywhere. What he said was very rude. I cannot believe after all these talking, they changed the deal again. I could not take it no more then I left. I FELT THEY TREATED THE CUSTOMER LIKE A PIECE OF S**TS! I TRUSTED THIS STORE BECAUSE TRAN PROVIDED HIS STORE NAME, ADDRESS AND STORE PHONE NUMBER AND EVEN POSTED THE STORE NAME ON THE BACKGROUND OF THE CAR PHOTO ON CRAIGLIST. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took my car here for smog. and oil change. THEN RIP OFF BEGAN!!!!!!!!! 1. work order was written - smog cert $ 8.25 smog check $49.95 parts $19.95 tax $ 1.90 Ok this seems reasonable. Oh under the labor cost it was written $39.95 I then handed the mechanic a coupon for $10.00 off smog. He took it then he slashed down the smog check price to $39.95 but then also slashed the labor price and raised it to $49.95. He had the balls to do this right in front of me. So I called him out on it and he mad some stupid excuse that he made an error. Yea right. 2. So I need to mention that my check engine light had been on for the previous two months. So I asked the mechanic should we find out what the problem is before getting smog? He stated no reason to. We take care of it. 3. FAILED SMOG !!!!!!! REALLY I was still charged for all cost except the $ 8.25 for smog cert. 4. So now mechanic states to me we need to check the fuel system and do process of elimination to see what the problem is. He didn't have time to work on it at that time so I would have to bring it back another day and leave it there for at least 5hours. 5. I then asked how munch he thinks this would run me about? He stated to me that it would start at $120.00 just to look at it, and expecting it to be around between $200.00 to $300.00. And to Re-smog would be another $49.00 plus $ 8.25 for cert. After telling mechanic that I could not afford this because I was unemployed, he said that he would help me out. He wrote on their business card: check fuel system $120.00 and re-smog plus cert $35.00 he signed his name and handed me the card. He said bring this back when you are ready and I will take care of you. NOT!!!!!!!! 6. Oh did I mention that the smog report had a code that read PO171 I stopped at another mom & pop auto place for a second option. OMG!!!!! They look at the report then replaced the oxygen sensor. Check engine light OFF. Part $ 92.00 and $50.00 labor DONE! !!!! FIXED!!!! The only thing was that they do not do smog. 7. So since I still needed to re-smog and didn't want to pay full price anywhere else I bit my tongue and took it back to the rip offs to re-smog for me. I drove up and found the mechanic that handed me the card. I stated do you remember me.? He said yes pull your car up. I pulled my car up and stated to him that the problem with the check engine light has been fixed. So I just need to re-smog. He then stated why didn't you do what I told you to do? I said I don't understand what you are asking.? He said I had told you to go drive on the freeway for a while then return to re-smog. I told him that's not what was told to me and that he was confusing me with some else. He then said no you did not listen to me. Anyways I said can you just please re-smog for me? He then was going to charge me full price again. I showed him the card that he had signed and wrote re-smog + cert $35.00 He snatched it from me and said ok $35.00 but I would also have to pay $8.25 for certification . This place is a joke. The mechanics are liars and their coupons are a scam. I called in advance and asked if they were still honoring their coupon for a tune up. they told me yes and quoted a tune up price to me. I asked if they needed the make and model of the car to be sure. My car was going out and I did not want to drive thirty miles and risk being broken down on the side of the road. The assface on the phone said no no not necessary. They honor coupon. When I got there the jerk informed me that he was not going to honor the coupon. he was going to charge me 200 dollars more than he originally said. he then claimed that he told me on the phone that he had to inspect the vehicle first. That is not true. I would not have gone there if he had said that. I cursed him out and left. 15 miles later I had to call triple A and get towed home. False advertising. Rude. Scam artists.
