    Strawberry Shortcake

Thanks Jen for posting a Yelp review and pics of these delicious cakes from Maui Pastry. I am a huge fan of Japanese cheesecakes, pastries and desserts, so I was super excited to try these goodies. This isn't a traditional store front, so your options for purchase are to follow Maui Pastry on instagram and see the pop up cakes and desserts of the day that you can purchase individual slices or pieces. If you want to order something else that's advertised, you need to put in a 5 day advance order and purchase the whole cake. I happened to miss the days of pop up options, and was already sold with going off the pics. Since we love matcha, white chocolate and strawberry shortcake, we decided to just order two cakes for my upcoming birthday so we could share with family. Ordering via text was super easy. The directions for location and pick up were on point and cakes were ready at specified time. Payment can be made via cash, check or Venmo. Ayumi was super sweet and her cakes were delicate and beautifully decorated. The strawberry shortcake had a light spongy cake, super light whipped cream and lots of fresh, sweet strawberries in the layers. Japanese desserts are the perfect balance of not being heavy or too sweet. They make you want to eat more, without feeling guilty. The match green tea and white chocolate mousse cake was amazing! This is a light mousse and the texture was so smooth and the taste was so delicious. The combination of matcha and white chocolate was perfectly matched. We are fans of Maui Pastry and plan on purchasing more cakes. Thanks for making my covid birthday memorable!

The parking lot is a bit tight upon arrival, but you can definitely drive around the back and check for availability there. I was pleased to find the line wasn't outside the door. It was pretty busy inside, for good reason. Their pastries and food options looked spectacular. As I observed seated customers, everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves and their treats. I was a little disappointed to see the pump bottles of syrup by the bar, as I would've loved to try a house made syrup. But nonetheless, I ordered a cortado with coconut milk and Mac nut flavoring. It was much smaller than I was used to from ordering cortados at other shops, but it was perfect. I wish I took a photo. Since I stopped by before returning my rental car in the afternoon, there wasn't that much of a wide variety of pastries left. However I was able to snag an Ube croissant. I saved it on my flight and ate it at home the following day. It remained super soft and fresh. The ube filling was light yet flavorful without being too sweet. The color was gorgeous. I'm not sure if you'll understand, but the croissant was flakey but not dry. It was airy, but still bready and full. It was hugeeee!! I'd compare it to half the size of my forearm lol. I only waited about 10 mins from entry to exit. After trying this shop, I would gladly wait outside on the steps if I had to. Can't wait to return and try some new items!!

I was looking for someone who could handle breakfast and lunch and he delivered beautifully -- our attendees were all thrilled with the food (and specifically mentioned it in their evaluations). We did savory breakfast shokupan + honey butter toast + drinks (cold brew coffee, matcha latte, and a butterfly pea tea) for breakfast (and Sean threw in some extra muffins for me), and a variety of bentos and a mango and a strawberry cream layer cake. He even made up a special bento for my boss who had dietary restrictions. Sean was easy to work with and quick to return my anxious phone calls, plus the prices were so amazing for the quality of food. Highly recommend for your meetings and group events on island!

While it's a bit of a turn off for me when there are no prices displayed for any of the items, I'll still support you at least one time. There was the spam only musubi and one with egg which is what left with me. Initial visual is that it's juicy because of all the space and rolled in furukaki which are both things that I love! Nice hot when it left in my hand and out the door we went. The taste is good as the sauce wasn't too salty and the rice was just right; not to hard or soft. The rice was still able to hold together and the additional furukaki was generous. Nice shop to try! Street parking was easy for us this time

I finally went up to someone as she was looking at the clipboard & asked. She apologized & we went right in. Had to get the drymein of course & the French fries. We made sure to pay a visit on our first free lunch day! Of course, coming during the lunch rush we had to wait for maybe 20 minutes outside before getting a table for 4. Longest 20 minutes of my life LOL! Paid off though when we finally got seated! Ordered the usual suspects: -Dry Noodles (Dry Mein) ($18.95) - DOUBLE sized for 2! Or one Hungry Hawaiian HA! -Cheeseburger Deluxe ($5.95) -French Fries with Mustard/Mayo ($5.95) -BBQ Stick (Beef and Chicken) ($3.75 each) -Manju ($1.25 each) -Turnovers ($1.85 each) I was so hungry I forgot pics of half my order! Shared the Dry Noodles with my Mom but honestly I ate 75% of that double order LOL! Just as awesome as I remember - just needed a dash of the soup, splash of shoyu, dab of Tabasco, and a lot of cracked black pepper! Ugh, so ONO! The Cheeseburger Deluxe and French Fries were honestly not gourmet, but the nostalgia factor brings it up a notch for me. Don't forget to dip into their Mustard/Mayo mix, it's a game changer! The BBQ Sticks were a little overdone this time but I'll let it slide because I do love that char on the edges. And you can't leave without having a manju and turnover (or 2....of each LOL) for dessert! Not much has changed at Sam Sato's over the decades (except maybe the prices, they went up!) and that's the way we like it! Old schoo for an old foo like ME!

Aloha fellow BES' Kine Goodies Seekers!…read more I LOVE MANUELA MALASADAS so.stop by every time I go to Costco! They are right across the street so I may drive to the lot right next to the truck or just run across the street ! It's a cute, very clean food truck right off the hotel driveway & parking lot with parking stalls right near it in case you buy a bunch to take home. Or have a car full of luggage from your flight to Maui since it's just down the way from OGG airport. Malasadas put donuts to shame!!! ESPECIALLY if you like gooey fillings & toppings. My favorite ones are around Christmas but they have tons of regular fillings. I can never get less than three because I can't pass up my chance to try new ones. They have wonderful staff... especially the manager Sabrina...really know their way around dough and they do not scrimp on the Malasadas itself or the fillings! They ONLY cook just for you... so plan a few minutes wait but they have picnic tables under a tarp right there or you can walk around the other food trucks. But definitely at least take your first bites there while they're hot out of the frier!!! 'Only ONE piece of advice: ... G O. H U N G R Y !!!! ...
