Last night my kids confessed that they had been putting paper towels (instead of TP) down the toilet, causing a major clogged mess. I was furious as we are going to have family over for Thanksgiving tomorrow!!!! So this morning, we called Lucas Plumbing and Chuy came over at 8:00 to work on the job. He did find the paper towels all jammed up in there and I made my kids look at the mess they made. Chuy was very knowledgable, professional, and got the job done. As he was working on the toilet, he noticed that other small things needed to be fixed in our bathroom. And he kindly worked on those as well!!! We are very thankful for Lucas Plumbing and Chuy and his great work! What I also like about Lucas Plumbing is that they send a bill in the mail so you don't have to hassle with a check or giving out a credit card number right then and there. DO NOT CALL!!! We found out the hard way that Lucas Plumbing is no more. The people who answer belong to Ritz Plumbing who have a well deserved F in BBB. They do not identify themselves as Ritz. And when they showed up, they just say they are a sister company which is false! They did the job wrong, cut the wrong pipe, and left with pipes leaking and misaligned. I had used Lucas Plumbing over the years and had been really satisfied. That changed today. I called today to have a couple of minor problems fixed. Rather than Lucas Plumbing coming out, they sent a couple of guys from a company called Ritz Plumbing, which I only found out when I got the bill. I asked them about it, and they said they are 'in association with' Lucas Plumbing. Rather than fixing anything, they said I needed $7500 in unnecessary repairs. I still have the two issues I originally called about, but I am now out $120 for a service call. I should have kept my money and called someone else. read more

Stupid me. This is not your mother's Lucas Plumbing. I had a pipe burst so I called what had always been a reliable plumber. Little did I know they had been sold. Should have looked at Yelp first but I panicked. They ended up charging me $1000 for a simple $150 job. But when your yard is literally flooded you don't have time for a second opinion. I have used this company in the past many times and the employees were excellent, work was superior and the service amazing. Needless to say from my two stars -- something happened. This is actually an updated former 5 star review. This is nothing more than a dispatch service that outsources the work to a company called Ritz Plumbing. It appears as though they send the work to independent contractors. You can't talk to anyone but the dispatcher. Long time lucas plumbing customer here. They are no longer lucas plumbing - they got bought out by a company that charges you a $49 "truck fee" after they've done the work and invoice you. This breaks my heart, as i had grown to trust them and rely on their honest, prompt and professional service. They lie to you and tell you they are still Lucas plumbing. They are not. Shady. They record your calls too. Really, a plumber? Oh, and now they charge you $129 just to check out the problem. read more

I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. I've had two experiences with them 1) These guys did the plumbing for my remodel three years ago: new shower, toilet, sinks, water heater, and new water lines. I thought they were just ok. Two issues: The toilet wasn't centered (they did fix it) and the supply line underneath one of the sink was up against the wall so that I couldn't turn the valve on/off (they did fix that too). But I shouldn't have had to tell them that. 2) Flash forward three years to this week, when the tankless water heater, that they installed, breaks on me. I called them first thing in the morning 7:30a, mentioning their prior work and the brand (Takagi). The guy says all his techs are out and they'd give me a call after the first customer, to see when a good time to come out would be. I waited....waited...and waited until I called them at 12:30p to see what's going on. Another gentleman answered and said, "Oh, we don't work on those brands of water heaters anymore. You need to call the manufacturer." Which I did, and Lucas Plumbing shows up on their list as authorized repair rep. A tech did show up later that day to inspect and say the same thing. The kicker is that I called another authorized Takagi plumber, to do the repair, and they said my warranty may be voided because Lucas didn't install a prefilter system. Argh...... read more

It is disturbing that a review written a week ago is filtered out to never, never land...makes me question the validity of Yelp...I am reposting my ealier review in hopes that it will remain in a more current position. FORMERLY happy client--we used Lucas Plumbing for 14yrs with satisfaction and referred them to a dozen friends and neighbors during those years. I think they are good with minor problems like clogged drains etc. But they mishandled several things on our bigger projects, one of which seriously changed how we could do something else in the future, and another, if not corrected by our new plumber, could have resulted in a pipe connection failure. The last concern is because they wanted us to cut up our vanity in order to install the plumbing--an easier option for them--but would have resulted in us losing function and storage in the cabinet. I'm not sure why they and the general contractor were so stubborn about that one... Anyway, Chris, the owner, is the nicest and easiest to work with, they do have some good guys who come out, but now I kind of feel like I gave them a little too much credit. Finding a good plumber is comforting because most of us feel vulnerable in that area. But now that we have moved on, I can say with confidence, there really are other good, honest, prompt and knowledgeable plumbers out there, and in our case, they found and corrected a significant problem left by Lucas (I guess no one is perfect) and they found a part to an aging plumbing fixture that Lucas said positively could not be found read more

First, I've had a history with Lucas Plumbing. I lived nearly 3 years in Hermosa Beach, and my apartment complex was serviced by Lucas. I (unfortunately) had to call in two emergency plumbing requests while I lived there, and both times Lucas really came through. Now I'm living in Torrance, in a place my fiancee owns, and we had a real plumbing emergency last night (maybe I'm just bad luck??). There was an apparent in-wall leak, and water was seeping out the stucco along one side of our place. It wasn't leaking at any fitting that I could find. Lucas Plumbing had slipped from my mind, so I was calling other plumbing companies. None of them were willing to come out and check on the major leak problem we were having. Then I was scanning Yelp and came across Lucas Plumbing! I kicked myself for not calling them first. The night on-call guy, Gabriel, was very helpful and calmed me down quite a bit. We decided that nothing could be done last night (long story), so he scheduled an appointment for first thing this morning. (I had also calmed down because I finally figured out how to shut off the main supply line into our townhouse, which was critical). So first thing this morning I get a call from Ray at Lucas, and he sounded very professional and knowledgeable on the phone. When he arrived and we started talking, I could tell right away that he was going to get the leak fixed, or if he couldn't, he would help me figure out what to do next. Luckily for me, he was able to find the source of the leak (a pinhole leak in an attic feed line). Ray fixed it up quickly, and then he changed out (at my request) the shutoff valve to my townhome. (The original shutoff valve was an old gate-type valve and not a modern ball valve, and I was worried that it was also going to fail at any moment.) Ray from Lucas Plumbing did an amazing job, and I would absolutely have him back to perform more work in the future. He really saved my bacon this morning, and I will always be grateful. Best plumbers I've ever had. They came on time and suggested a low-cost alternative to fix a leaky tub rather than spend big bucks. Did the work and said would not bill me until we see if it works. Unfortunately it did not solve the leak, so they came back out a week later and replaced the plumbing to the trap. Again, showed up right on time. Fixed it and did not charge for the first trip. I live in an old apt building that still has the original galvanized pipes and about a month ago my bathroom sink suddenly stopped draining, though the drain was not clogged. So we started trying to clear the clog by going right in the wall with every liquid cleaner imaginable, a motorized snake, and a regular snake, but nothing worked. I called these guys at about 2:15pm today (they were the first ones I called, after doing some Yelp research) the man that answered was very nice, told me it would fall under their $90 hourly rate, but they would give me a 10% discount since I was a first time customer, so it would be only $80 and a guy would be here by 4pm today. A guy has already come out and cleared the drain, only an hour after calling!! Amazing!! He didn't smell, was very nice, didn't take his time doing nothing so they could charge me more. This is my second review. Had great experience with them previously so I decided to call them back up when my tenant said there was a clog with the sink. Typical Lucas Plumbing tech would have taken less than an hour for clog, but for some reason this guy stayed for 4 hours. Charge came out to $430 for a clog. The other unusual part was they asked to get paid upfront. Typically Lucas would have invoiced us later. This method of asking upfront are the same tactic used by plumbers the home warranty companies hire. Extremely bad. I wanted to go with a local plumber instead of an expensive "chain" brand. These guys are great. They come promptly. Do a great job at a reasonable price. We used them twice within a week, for seperate problems that popped up. And were happy both times. I like that you can have them bill you. And that you can pay via PayPal. You can even request a service call online, tho i still prefer to call and talk to someone. It's nice to see a traditional-type service doing business in a modern way. read more

All I have to say is RIGHT ON! had my first plumbing problem at a new home in 2 years... minor- garbage disposal issue. Called a little after 9am- Miguel was quick and clear with info. Promised to be in between 10-12. Two guys showed up at 11:15- quick and friendly. I think they were outta here by 11:20. 15% first timers discount on $88 service, and bill in the mail. Seriously?! Okay this is a totally and utterly belated review....sorry!!! about a year ago my parents had a nightmare of a situation with the shitty Sears washer and dryer delivery people. The delivery dude broke their water connection pipe and then LIED and claimed that it was already broken and couldn't install it. I know, right???? don't get me started. Sooo....my parents didn't know who to call and since they have no idea how to harness the power of the internet or even what the hell YELP is, I came to the rescue. Actually correction: LUCAS PLUMBING came to the rescue. I did a quick search on yelp and came up with couple of names. After calling LUCAS and texting a pic to the owner- i had someone out within the hour and also the following evening to fix the situation. The dudes that came out were total rock stars, extremely professional, uber competent, and super nice. the best part besides finally finding a plumber that we can trust??? the PRICE. I rarely write reviews but I couldn't help but give credit to this company. I had called around my area to different companies but nobody even attempted to come out and look at the issue i was having in my kitchen with my faucet leaking and sink needing to be re-caulked. I contacted Lucas plumbing, spoke to Miguel and was very impressed with how polite he was. I called around 10am requesting someone come by to potentially fix my issue, and within an hour someone had come, walk through everything and provide professional and fast service. I've been searching for a good plumber for some time now....I almost used a client's services, but I came across poor reviews for them and then I found Lucas Plumbing. I thought I'd give it a try. I have to say that I'm very glad that I did. My plumber Gabe...very professional, prompt but also very funny. It was just an overall very pleasant experience (it's a plumbing call!) to get my shower unclogged. I neglected to take care of it right away, and I know it was a bit of work, but I REALLY appreciated his hard work and persistence. If can't say enough good things abut this company! We had a water main leak that they helped us detect, saving us thousands of dollars. The owner came out to our complex himself to look at the problem and help us while it was overflowing. onto our lawn, and into the water main valve box. The personal attention was fantastic. These guys are great! Mike Diamond said it would cost $500 to replace a clean-out T -- Lucas started at $89 -- just sawing out and replacing the old plug but the T had a crack in it so they went out and got a new one -- total job $200 including snaking the drain. These are very honest and competent guys I would judge from my one experience. read more

During the Thanskgiving weekend unfortunately the house experienced a major plumbing issue. I called several plumbers on the Saturday of the long weekend and less than 10 minutes of leaving a message I received a call back from Lucas Plumbing. Within an hour The plumber from Lucas arrived and started working on clearing the pipe blockage. Lucas Plumber was professional and started working right away to unblock the pipe. Next time there is a blocked pipe (hopefully not for a very long time) I will definitely call them again. read more

I have used them once before for a main line blockage and they did a great job. Recently, I had a larger problem; there was a pipe leaking under my house. I had been gone a few days so not sure when it happened but knew that I needed someone ASAP. I called them and they answered the phone on 1st ring which surprised me as it was nearing the close of business. I explained the situation and they had someone out to my house in less than 30 mins. The plumber did an excellent job and fixed the problem even though at that point it was after business hours. Be aware!! They lie and try to rip me off. There was a leakage under the house, they've quoted $4700 for fixing all the leaking joints. ( they said it's leaking everywhere, later found out just one joint was leaking) Just to close the main shut off (where meter is) they wanted to charge me $150. When I told them I already paid $50 and not going to pay, they try to open up the main switch. What are jerks they are! They had to turn off the main because the main valve in the house were broken. They've quoted $750 to just to change the valve. Another plumber fixed everything for $200. Put new valve and fix the leakage underneath the house that lucas plumbing quoted $4700!! read more

This is not Lucas Plumbing any more! I made the mistake of calling them out for a clogged line, not knowing Chris sold the company apparently about a year ago. They say they hydrojetted out the main line both inside the house and out - I don't know much about plumbing so who knows. Then they ran a camera down the line and told me I need an expensive sewer line replacement. Just last year Chris did the same thing and said it was fine. I'm out $350 for what I suspect was very little work today. The guy handed me the invoice (me first indication this wasn't Lucas) and when I asked who Ritz Plumbing is he said Lucas and Ritz "merged". Apparently not true, Lucas is no longer in business. Don't call these people. Chris was awesome, but this is not the same company, and when you call their dispatcher, or talk to their technicians, they pass themselves off as the great Lucas Plumbing. This is sad, based on the reviews I'm reading they're ruining Chris' hard earned reputation, not to mention ripping people off. read more

When I called, it was a dispatcher, who said that they were going to charge me a minimum $120. I would've potentially been OK with that since I knew the company, but they instead sent out some other company, Ritz Plumbing, who right off the bat upcharged the estimate of work that needed to be done. I was at work and my wife called me asking if a $300 charge for a camera service was normal. That's when I found out that it wasn't Lucas plumbing that was there. I got a free quote on 6/6/17. I called that Friday for the quote- nothing. Called again the following week on Tuesday and they said I would have it by the end of the day- nothing. Then called twice today to finally get a quote on the second call. After all that hassle all I found out was that their prices are well above $300 more than their competitors (That have better reviews!!!!) After further looking into these reviews I found the only good ones were from past years and 2017 has been... well let's just say unsuccessful with yelpers. Paid $349 (insane!) to have them install a dishwasher. At the end there was a 1 inch gap between the dishwasher and the baseboard. They send the installer out again to fix it but he was 45 min late and we couldn't accommodate his visit. I asked for a partial refund of the work performed, which they didn't entertain. I've used Lucas Plumbing before and was very happy with their work. Sometime in the last year or so, they were sold, and when you call Lucas now, you get someone else. Ritz plumbing. They don't mention that. Their work is shoddy, about four times as expensive as it should be, and the workers are sloppy. $450 to snake your kitchen sink? Sure. I believe the workers - I can't believe they're really plumbers - work on a percentage basis. Never again. UPDATE - the next morning, it was leaking underneath the sink.
