Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was seated a lot faster than expected! The Royale has some unique brunch items. I believe they're owned by Lapisara Eatery which is also a well-known spot in SF. I originally wanted some classic brunch items, but their étouffée and the majestic sounded really good. Both dishes were soo yummy. The étouffée had a good amount of crab and crawfish, and it was hearty and comforting. The majestic was THE STAR. A little after they set the dish down, the meat literally just slipped off the bone. The short rib had a nice crust on the outside and was cooked perfectly inside. It was so good. My only complaint was how little mashed potatoes we got. Other pictures seem to have gotten a healthy scoop, but we got what looked like a a smear of mashed potatoes. Considering the price I wish they added a bit more. Regardless, our meal was amazing. Didn't feel safe eating here I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was unacceptable--especially when it came to something as serious as a food allergy. I was interested in ordering the étouffée and asked our server whether it contained any fish or fish-derived ingredients, such as fish oil or fish stock. She told me it was shrimp and crab, but she did not seem certain about the other ingredients. I explained that I am deathly allergic to fish and simply asked if she could confirm with the chef. Instead of checking with the kitchen, she repeatedly told me it didn't contain fish. When I again asked her to please verify with the chef because of the severity of my allergy, her response was, "How about you order something different?" At that point, I left. I completely understand that a restaurant may not be able to guarantee that a dish is allergen-free or prevent cross-contamination. If that had been explained to me, I would have appreciated the honesty and happily chosen something else. What I don't understand is refusing to ask the chef when a customer specifically says an allergy could be life-threatening. Food allergies aren't preferences, and customers shouldn't be made to feel difficult for asking a restaurant to verify ingredients. Unfortunately, the way this was handled made me uncomfortable trusting the kitchen with my safety, so I chose to dine elsewhere. We had dinner before our show. Cocktails -Cosmo & Blue Lemon Drop 4.5outta5 -Nice flavors, didn't care for the sugar dab on the side of the glass as opposed to around the rim but enjoyed. Geso 3.5of5 They were a bit over making for a tough chew Bacon wrapped scallops 1outta5 -Bay scallops are much too small to be wrapped in bacon. I didn't get to taste them due to the bacon being under. I can't imagine there being much scallop flavor though. Huge miss Cajun Lobster 4outta5 Sea scallops & lobster were cooked to perfection. The Cajun sauce had a nice & very flavorful kick. Korean Chicken 5outta5 That was a damn good sandwich! Perfect happy hour with my gals, especially on Wednesday when it's from 4:30p- close. Upon arrival I noticed a very cute interior with fresh flowers, sophisticated clean modern aesthetics, and friendly servers. The HH menu looked great - we got fried mushrooms, bacon-wrapped scallops, calamari, Parmesan garlic fries, wagyu and Korean fried chicken sliders and fries, lychee martinis and a margarita. We even ordered miso black cod, the ultimate smash burger, and the Dubai chocolate dessert with ice cream from the regular menu. Food was tasty and presented nicely. We always enjoy our food at The Royale. We tried some new items and some regular items. Their Chicken and Waffles are delicious because the chicken is flavorful and not dry. The crispy coating adds to enjoyment of the experience. The syrup is buttery and the presentation is really eye catching. The good thing is this dish is as delicious as it looks The downside was it took 45 minutes to get the orders of chicken and waffles. The other people at the table were almost done with their food. It appeared there were 5 orders of this , but only one gadget to make the waffle ? Or was it the chicken? It was a good thing we enjoyed the company of the people we with otherwise we would have been annoyed, but honestly, I am glad the waiter told us what was happening so we were prepared. Our company slowed down their eating. Paella had lobster, shrimp, clams and the paella rice was delicious!! The person who ordered it absolutely loved the paella and all the toppings. Everyone at the table got to sample the dish and agreed it rivaled the paella at the Catalan restaurant in Walnut Creek. The rice had a crispy crusty and the seasoning was just right. I plan on ordering the paella when we return. Avocado Croissant Toast The person who ordered this said there was too much lettuce. It was a delicious sandwich, but she would not order it again especially since there were wuite a few items, she wanted to try on the menu. She eluld recommend only if you like croissants and avocados. Ube Latte The people next to us ordered this. The bear was so cute. Based on what we saw, we ordered our own Ube Latte. The late was topped with a purple bear ice cube! I loved the bear and when I went home, I ordered my own ice cube silicon mold We want to return in a couple months. MOTHER'S DAY SATURDAY DINNER The night before Mother's Day I came here along with my sister and her husband to take out our mothers for dinner. When I go out for dinner on a special occasion, I order a dish that I don't regularly eat. For beverage I choose the iced dirty lavender latte. The main entree I selected was the tom yum paella. I've had lavender latte. Sometimes lavender latter can be too sweet. At The Royale I enjoyed drinking the iced dirty lavender latte, which had a slight earthy taste. The tom yum paella is play on a hot and sour Thai soup in a rice dish. I've eaten paella but having a tom yum concept was unique. I can taste the lime flavor from this paella. Even though there is seafood what made the tom yum paella stood out was the lobster tail. Having the iced dirty lavender latte with its earthy taste balances the strong lime flavor of the tom yum paella. Overall I had a nice dinner for Mother's Day. The decor at The Royale has a relaxed upscale setting. The restaurant isn't tiny, but at the same time The Royale isn't very large. Came here for a birthday brunch and was very excited. We came on a Saturday and although there was a bit of a line we were still probably seated within 15 minutes. Staff were very friendly and the interior was well decorated. Definitely would come again for another girls brunch. or even to check out the dinner menu. Here's what we got... 5/5 Tom Yum Paella - perfect blend of flavors. My family had made paella before but I have never heard of a fusion paella. Pleasantly surprised and would order again. (This is dine in only) 3.5/5 French Toast - Prettily plated and tasted yummy. Can't go wrong with pancakes or french toast. (I will have to come back to try their Dua Lipa inspired Croffle & Ice Cream!) 4/5 Kare Raisu - Yummy and will satisfy the craving. I just wish I had more veggies in the curry but that's a personal preference. We got the Homefried chicken Thigh as the meat option and it was perfectly crispy. 4/5 Quattro Formaggi - This was very yummy! But with everything we ordered it was like an explosion of many different flavors. Not sure if I'd mix it up the same way next time. However by itself, I love sourdough so this was great with the mozzarrella, parmesan, gruyere and white sharp cheddar cheeses. Was in Pleasant Hill to pick up something and was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the Royale for brunch. We arrived just before 11 on a Saturday and were seated right away, which is always a plus. But as we left around noon, it was really filling up and I felt we timed our visit just right. The interior is done in a beautiful art deco style with gold accents and velvet, glass light fixtures. I really appreciate the attention to detail - which even extended to the bathrooms. Our server was friendly and efficient. Everything went smoothly, which is always a plus. The food was also great. My husband went with the waffle which was topped with ice cream, berries, and a chocolate sauce. He reports that it was delicious--he finished the plate in its entirety. I went with the Ahi Tuna Salad because I wasn't terribly hungry. And it was perfect - the ahi was cooked just right, seasoned well, and the salad has exactly the right amount of dressing. So good! Wowww... I couldn't have been more impressed. I made a reservation for Valentine's Day for me and my girlies and yesss it was busyyy! Reservations were nearly full but luckily we got a spot early in the morning. The place was packed, but I see why. I loved their drinks as well as their Tom Yum Paella. The portion was a bit small compared to other places however the flavor was immaculate! Months go by and I'm still thinking of this dish. The green sauce was what really made the dish top tier in my opinion. I truly loved how unique this dish was and I can't wait to try more! Staff were super friendly. I came with a friend and my toddler. The atmosphere is super cute and aesthetic. Servers were friendly and even offered my son a little toy which is such a nice gesture. Things are priced a bit high but I did find value in the paella. The flavors were really well balanced. The Thai fusion take on brunch was really flavorful and balanced. Loved it! plenty of parking. Outside looks pretty and kind of european with the style of the patio furniture. The inside decor is elegant/stylish. They also have chandeliers. It's kind of a small place but they do have a couple of tables that can accommodate a group. The service was friendly. Each thing on the menu was unique so it took me a long time to read over. everything was delicious. My mom loved the smashburger, and she never likes anything. The ube latte with the bear was super cute and tasted good also. It had a boba/brown sugar flavor I feel like. The presentation for all of food items was carefully curated and had appealing garnishes. My husband ordered a grilled cheese and loved the variety of cheeses in it and the spicy bacon. LOVE LOVE LOVE the vibe here. It's a super cute place for brunch. They're very popular, so expect a wait. Not sure if they take resys but for walk ins, they do have a waiting list to sign your name on. Make sure you walk to the front desk to put your name down. They have regular dining tables, as well as high top tables for the smaller groups (2-4 people). Because it's brunch.. I can't say the tables move fast but the staff sure do! They're hustling in the kitchen, bar, floor, etc. The menu has French and Thai influence, so expect your standard brunch options but with a twist. The concept is modern fusion, so dishes (and prices) are elevated but very well worth it. Let's get into the food: French toast- 100000/10 OFF THE CHARTS. A must order every time. It's $27 for just french toast but honestly, this is phenomenal. It's dessert dressed up as breakfast. It honestly takes like bread pudding with how custardy the french toast is. They hit a home run with this one. It's meant to be shared (by at least 3 people) as it's way too sweet for just one person to eat. The mascarpone, candied nuts, berries and caramel sauce tie the whole dish together. A great finisher, or palate cleanser between savory bites. Tom Yum Paella- 8/10 A fan favorite and for good reason. Lots of seafood top this dish, including a lobster tail, shrimps, mussels and calamari but the rice portion is verrrrrrrrry small. It comes out on a huge pan but the rice is spread super thin. The dish is good, it's packed with flavor from the lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves and chili paste, but it's just not blow my mind good. And in a way, it was just too much flavor? lol it's a weird thing to say. I love flavor, but it almost felt a bit overbearing. Also for people who can't eat spicy, it's a bit spicy. Again, it's another good shareable but just not main entree worthy for me. I LOVED the green seafood sauce that you're meant to dip the seafood in. I feel like if you mix the sauce into the rice, the citrus cuts the richness of the rice a bit, and makes it less one dimensional. We packed some of the leftovers to go, and they were nice enough to give me extra green sauce :) It's $48 btw. Ultimate Smashburger - 6/10 But to be fair... I don't love burgers. The presentation was amazing though. Two burger halves on a sizzling skillet of cheese? Say less. While it is a sight to see, it is very smokey. Also, they claim to use wagyu patties but they were pretty dry. I wanted to love the melty cheese, but it just didn't have as much flavor as I would like. They serve this with a whole pile of skinny cut fries, as well as pickles and pickled onions. Yum! Pro tip- dip the fries into the cheese and ketchup. FIRE! This might be a safe choice for someone who isn't feeling too adventurous, but I would skip this otherwise. If you're in need of a cocktail, they have plenty of signatures, as well as options for matcha and coffee. One of the owners came by towards the end of our meal to check on things and chat, so it was nice talking to Nikki about our experience at this location, as well as learn more about her other restaurants in the city. The bathrooms are all single stalls in a hallway. It's like walking into a closet, but then it's actually a bathroom. Beautiful hallway though, and I like the sink area. We had to sit at a high top so I can't say it was very comfortable, between the size of the table and the hard chair stools. I did like that we could see into the kitchen but it also was a little awkward, and seeing the fast pace of the staff rushing in and out just made me feel a bit anxious. But that's just me. FYI -The parking lot is huge, but shared between hotels and other businesses so you may have to park a ways away. read more

Came here my the fam to celebrate my sister's birthday. I ordered the iced Ube latte and the Korean fried chicken burger. The Ube latte was nice and creamy. I also thought that the bear was pretty cute. The burger had a nice crunch to it and I really enjoyed the picked vegetables on the side. It complements the burger very well. The service here was really good. Our server was very kind, patient, and gave us good recommendations. Food also came out at a reasonable pace. I definitely will be back again. Came here to catch up with the bestie and was BLOWN away by how amazing the food and drinks tasted. Needless to say this easily made it to my top recommendations for food spots to go to. The winning dish was their tom yum paella. Now, I've loved the Tom Yum flavor ever since I was a small youngin'. There's just something about the mixture of kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and chili that leaves my mouth salivating at thought. I was sold within my first bite and immediately knew that there were going to be NO leftovers by the time we needed to pay the bill. The green sauce that comes with the dish added and extra zesty kick that was perfect for dipping the seafood additions as well. Aside from that, the ahi tuna salad was refreshing and balanced out the salty lime flavors of the paella dish. When we got here at opening, it was not too crowded. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious. Right off the bat, service was very friendly. They have many unique offerings on the menu. We gravitated towards the signature dishes. We ended up getting the tom yum seafood paella. They warned us it would take about 20 minutes to make, which is fine. This had a beautiful presentation with a lobster tail and seafood. The cool part is that it comes in a large pan/skillet and the rice is a bit charred. It seems like maybe they used a sticky rice for the rice, as it had a bit of chew to it. The server warned us about the sauce being a bit spicy, but I felt like it was just light spice. We also got the fried chicken eggs benedict. This was probably our favorite dish because it was balanced. It wasn't too heavy as we thought. The side salad was made of arugula and it had a nice citrus flavor to it. I loved the side of smashed purple potatoes. They were salted perfectly and had crisp edges in there. Wished the dish came with more though! The fried chicken was crispy, but moist. I loved the picked red onions on top. We ordered a Garden of Versailles cocktail, and it was refreshing. Loved the bit of tajin on the side, and it was a beautiful cocktail. As a side note, they had an open bathroom space where there was individual stalls but the sinks were in the open. Inside is super cute ! Very esthetically pleasing. We were sat down right away . Given time to see why we wanted there were so many good options. I went with the French toast and ordered a side of royale bacon. Honestly it was really good. Definitely would recommend to try it. The chicken and waffles were really good too. Busy on the weekends, but this aesthetically pleasing, cute, and whimsical place is worth it! We waited about 20-25min before being sat by the bar next to the open kitchen. Staff was attentive from the moment you walked in to the moment you left. To start off we ordered drinks: Tiramisu Espresso Martini 3/5 - definitely more on the sweet espresso side but the lady finger was a nice touch. Garden of Versailles 4/5 - very refreshing and the mix of tropical fruits with the egg white and bitters was perfect. Main entrees: Tofu scramble 4/5 - we were told it was an eggless dish but it was very good. The vegetable mix was very fresh and the butter on the toast had something mixed into it that elevated it. Kare Raisu with the home fried chicken thigh 5/5 - a $30 plate I would absolutely pay for again. Good portion with 2 crispy and delicious thighs. I would had wished there was less rice and would be equal parts of the garlic mashed potatoes because I definitely needed more. The curry was very flavorful and brought everything together. Dessert: Buttermilk Pancakes with strawberry matcha sauce 3/5 - looked good but not worth the $27. They were on the dry side even though you would think the sauces would help. This might be one of my new go to brunch places because everything here was near perfection! Everything from the chicken and waffles, to the chili bomb omurice with sirloin steak was a chef's kiss. The chicken was very well seasoned and fried. The meat itself had a ton of flavor, not just the batter. The waffle was still crispy despite us putting syrup on top, fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The omurice and steak however, I enjoyed the most. The steak was nice and tender, cooked until medium rare. The omurice has a kick to it and I have fallen in love completely with it. The flavor was so elegant and the chili was aggressive but in a way where it blends in so well with the fried rice, and not distracting anything else from the flavors. I keep thinking about it and i feel as if I can still taste it. All in all, solid spot! read more

Holy moly. This is the BEST brunch I've had in so long. Quite literally. The drinks are SO cute! The little bears in the lattes are so cute and add so much fun to it! My husband got the imperial Benedict and I got the chicken and waffles and both were amazing! We did not leave a scrap of food left behind lol. The chicken was breaded but not too much, it was the perfect amount of juicy, tender and breaded. And the waffles, wow. Crunchy on the outside (and possibly caramelized?) and soft on the inside. We are 100% coming back, because we had a hard time making up our minds on which item we wanted to order. Definitely a great spot for brunch or lunch. Items ordered: :: Chicken and waffles - well gotta compare to other spots - crisp, juicy dark meat was yummy but found the waffles oddly dry. Decent dish - 3.75/5 :: Crab Benedict - nicely poached egg with Dungeness crab meat...their hollandaise sauce was delicious, light, buttery with of hint of fresh lemon...one of the better ones I've had. 4.5/5 All dishes are beautifully presented and garnished which make them picture worthy. Service was attentive, friendly and not rushed. This isn't your usual breakfast spot so pricing on the higher side. Place gets busy on the weekday with people waiting at the entrance. I would avoid the weekend unless you don't mind a min 30 min wait or have a reservation. Plenty of shared lot parking. read more

Lovely service and bright ambiance (4.5/5). Everything was clean and aesthetic and very comfortable for brunch. The one aspect that was just okay, but still not bad, was the food (3.5/5). We came at opening on Saturday just in case there was a brunch rush, but thankfully at 8am it didn't seem too busy yet. We were promptly greeted with a smile and seated at a table with fresh flowers and morning sun. The menu options are extensive, especially drinks, but we settled on some specials - a steak omurice and what we'd come for, fried chicken (but on a benedict instead of a waffle). Our items came out ~10 minutes later looking pretty garnished with flowers. The omurice was advertised as "medium spicy" and wasn't too bad. We had the spicy red wine sauce on the side and enjoyed cutting the omelette to drape over the rice. While there was spice, the dish also felt a little lacking for some reason - although the cook on the meat was good and it was tender. The fried chicken benedict was served with two crispy purple potatoes, mayo, and a lightly dressed arugula salad that was a good size. I found the benny eggs to be a bit unevenly cooked so they didn't ooze golden when cut, but it still tasted rich and yummy with the crunchy-crispy fried chicken. The pickled red onions really added good pop to this dish. Both dishes were fine but not memorable in taste. Prices are on the higher end but I could see good quality ingredients going into these dishes so perhaps it's justified. Very friendly staff though and fun menu options (often Thai fusion)! A solid addition to the local brunch scene - and they also serve dinner :) We didn't get the instagrammable drinks with ombre color and marshmallow bears but that also seems to be a highlight of The Royale! read more

Pretty spot from the outside and just as lovely in the inside. Upon entering, we were met by a fried fish and chemical scent. The kitchen is open to the dining area, and the restrooms are near the entrance so I wasn't sure if the scent was from the bathrooms. Service was warm and friendly but sometimes a little over attentive. We each ordered a drink and really enjoyed them. My husband had the Thai Tea Latte, which came out super hot in a cute bear glass. Once it cooled a little, it was delicious! I had the Ube Latte, and it did not disappoint! It had a real ube flavor that reminded me of Filipino ube halaya flavor versus basic ube extract. We ordered the Chicken Waffle and Korean Fried Chicken Burger. Both were pretty average. My friend and I wanted to go to Crumbs, but that place was busy and painfully loud, so we crossed the street to The Royale. We got a seat at the bar, which was perfect! I had seen pictures of the drinks with the cute bear, so, of course, I had to get one! I got the salted caramel macchiato. The drink was fine, but the presentation was great! I ordered the Ambassador, which was delicious, and my friend liked the breakfast she ordered. One thing though is the pricing. While delicious, a breakfast dish for $32 feels exorbitant. This brunch place is one of the cutest and tastiest in town! Not only is the decor super cute and aesthetic, the food is actually very delicious and well executed. It can get loud / hard to hear, but let's just call it lively. The staff is incredibly sweet and attentive as well. They are very knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. HIGHLY RECOMMEND: tom yum paella. Holy cow. The rice is cooked thinly on a hot dish, so it gets perfectly crispy at the bottom. They really load up the seafood, with lobster, shrimp, calamari, squid, mussels. The highlight is the tom yum sauce to dunk the seafood in. It's tangy and spicy and so flavorful. I rarely like fusion dishes (I feel like the bold Asian flavors get sacrificed / toned down), so this was such a pleasant surprise. Chicken Waffle: crispy exterior, juicy / tender interior, refreshing fruit garnishes. A generous portion of chicken. You really can't go wrong with this one! Etouffee: the Cajun flavor is definitely there, though not as strong as I was expecting after tasting the tom yum paella. Still very delicious and my mom finished her entire dish (she normally doesn't even come close) Omelette: exactly what you'd expect. A little basic considering the other great options but they executed it well. Drinks: ube flavor was strong. Lavender was definitely present (let's be real though - I was mainly getting it for the bear anyway). The Lady Charlotte was gorgeous and super yummy with the raspberry chambord. Of all the brunch places in the area, this is definitely the one I would recommend. Just be prepared for a wait if you come after 12p. The staff said if we come before 11am, the wait wouldn't be too bad and she was right! Got seated on a Sunday morning right away. read more

Came here on a Saturday around noon and it was busy! It was about a 30 minute wait for a table for two. The staff was super friendly and the presentation of every dish was 10/10. We ordered the Tom Yum paella and omitted the mussels; next time we'd probably omit the calamari too. Even so, it was such a unique and flavorful dish with a really creative twist. We were in the area after an appointment and decided to check out The Royale, which I've had on my list for awhile. So, first thing: these folks REALLY like Christmas. Christmas decorations all over, and a Christmas playlist, on December 30. Not my jam, not gonna lie. Seriously, one of the things I most look forward to in the last few days of the year is a reprieve from being forced to listen to Christmas music in every conceivable public place for eight weeks straight. That aside though, I liked this place. Everything was quite good. This place reminded me of The Hangout, but a bit fancier. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive start to finish, and I appreciated that we were not rushed, despite the sign at the front asking guests to limit their experience to 90 minutes. We like to take our time and enjoy, and the staff respected that. Kudos. Ok, onto the food. My partner ordered the classic breakfast, with two eggs over medium, bacon, toast, and purple potatoes. I ordered a side of three scrambled eggs, and a side of fruit. Everything was tasty and satisfying. The fruit bowl was impressive, with a variety of fresh fruits, and no filler fruit. It's a pet peeve of mine when places throw together cantaloupe, green melon, and like three grapes, and call it a 'fruit bowl'. Not the case here. Now for what I consider to be the best part of the experience here: the beautiful presentation and attention to little details. From the plates and glassware, to the gold silverware, to the nice salt and pepper shakers and coffee creamer pourers, to the beautiful presentation of the drinks, to the scoop of fancy brown butter on the toast, to the leather check holder, you can see the attention to detail and quality in the little things. Very nice. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you're paying for the entire experience, and in that I'd say it's worth the splurge. We will be back. read more

Dropping into The Royale for a New Years brunch with the honey, I'd been drawn in by their Chicken and Waffles pictures. We'd hoped they would have outside seating, but it was raining and they didn't seem to have heaters or be set up for weather so we asked to be seated in a less busy inside corner. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and they were amazing. The waffles themselves were delicious and the chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was some of the best fried chicken I've had recently. I also ordered the Royale bacon which was much less successful in my opinion and to be quite honest the flavor profile was odd and incredibly spicy. The service (after a delay in ordering) was prompt and friendly and we absolutely plan to return in the future. read more

Found this place coincidentally as I was driving by, went inside and immediately was greeted by a woman and got a table. The interior was beautifully set up. The food we got were very good. I definitely recommend the fried Chicken Benedict and if you like pancakes; try the Mango/coconut Pancake. It was such a fun refreshing twist to Pancakes. read more
