The food was very good and tasted very fresh and authentic. The lady serving us was very kind and made sure we were having a good vibe. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because of of the vibe of the restaurant but honestly it didn't bother me too much. We sat in table 6 which had a great view of the fox theater. I would definitely recommend this place to some

We walked in and got sat right away. However, the place was packed. Make sure to get here very early before a Fox show just to make sure. We were lucky enough to anticipate that exact situation. Service was actually pretty quick for how busy they were. But for some reason on a Friday night before Mean Girls, they only had one bartender and one server staffed. For the entire restaurant. Not sure how that happened. But like I said, in spite of that staffing issue, service was quick. They definitely had some pep in their step and they were trying very hard to make things speedy. We started with the chips and queso appetizer. I did not have high hopes, but I wanted to give it a chance. The cheese was just so watery. The chips and queso were pretty much the same chips and cheese you would get from any elementary to high school sporting event from the concession stand. Identical taste. I was disappointed. Would not get them again. Unless that's the kind of chips in case so you were looking for. My friend got the Birria tacos. She said they were pretty good, but there is much ,much better birria in St. Louis. I got the taco plate with three tacos. The grilled shrimp taco was delicious. Great flavor, and they did not overcook the shrimp which is typical of a lot of Mexican restaurants. I wish I would've got three of those. The pastor was just OK. Nothing to write home about. And the chicken... was bad. I didn't even finish it. The meat quality was just not it. From reading recent reviews, this seems to be common place now. However, I hear that pre-Covid, this restaurant was amazing. And people would come from all over the city for the food and specials... Makes me sad. It was way overpriced for what it was. Honestly I feel like I should've paid half the price I paid for that quality of food.

We had reservations for 6 PM on a Thursday night and arrived a little early. We were seated right away. They only had a few servers for the whole restaurant, and all of them were frantically running around the restaurant trying to care for everyone. While I appreciate their hard work and hustle, it didn't seem like a very efficient setup. I would consider coming back on a non-Fox Theatre performance night. I'm assuming this is what impacted our lack of attentive service. Our server, who also took on the role of manager and host, only came to our table two or three times to take our order and deliver our check. I understand that he was busy with all of the other tables, but we couldn't even flag him down for a water refill. We also ordered two piña coladas but never received them. When we were almost finished eating our food and realized the drinks probably weren't coming, we had to ask our server to take them off the bill. If the tacos hadn't been as yummy as they were, I don't think my overall experience here would have been worth it. I was very impressed by the flavor in each taco. I ordered the Mexico City Tacos Plate, which is your choice of three tacos and two sides for $20.50. It seemed a little pricey at first, but the meat seemed to be pretty high quality. I chose two ground beef tacos and one chicken tinga. I was blown away by the deliciousness both, especially the ground beef. They bring out three sauce options with your food, but the tacos were already so flavorful on their own that I didn't even need to use the sauce! I ordered white rice and steamed vegetables for my sides, and both were pretty good.

Great spot for dinner before going to the Fox! We were hoping to go to Curtain Call Lounge, it they were full. We went straight across the street to Lucha and were greeted and seated right away. We started with the salsa, queso, guacamole sampler. There were 4 in our party and it was perfect. I started with their margarita and it was fantastic! The quesadilla Burria was delicious!

This is an okay option if you're looking for dining in the theater district. Be forewarned that they have a small staff and the service has been different both times I went. I've been waited on once and I've ordered/paid at the bar once. The last time I went, they got so busy that they locked the doors but didn't put up any signing outside which led to a comical/awkward meal of watching people walk up, try to open the door multiple times, and walking away confused. There was also a server that went outside to serve a drink on the patio and then got locked out..pretty chaotic! All that being said, the food is pretty solid with generous portions. Prices are a bit high but you could probably split an entree with someone based on your appetite. Would recommend going here if you're looking for a more authentic Mexican taste, but not if you're on a strict time schedule (i.e. seeing a show at the Fox)

I wasn't super hungry so we got chips and salsa and guacamole to share and my friend got the chicken fajita. The salsa comes with two different salsa options, both were a bit spicy. I think my friend was a little disappointed that there was an up charge to add vegetables to her fajita and the portion wasn't as big as she thought it might for a $20 plate, but it tasted good. We chose inside and although they have a couple tables out front, I realized they have a super cute patio out back. Our server, Obed, was friendly and explained everything we needed to know as well as answering all the questions! He was great! I had eaten a big lunch, so I ordered a couple of sides, Poblano Rajas and Half-Smashed Black Beans no cotija. For the table, my daughter's ordered the Classic Queso, and Chips & Salsa Two-Ways. The Queso was good but those salsas? They were really great. The red was smokey, which I love and not a lot of places do, and the green was a spicy pineapple, I think, it was so good! There was a Handmade Limeade ordered and it was so refreshing! I enjoyed the sides I ordered; I tasted the Al Pastor Empanadas, delicious and more so with that green salsa - sweet and spicy! Great spot I am glad we tried. Would love to return for a pitcher of margaritas when I am not driving!

It's been a few weeks since I had any pocket cash to go out to eat... so I decided to pick a food…read moresource at random for a Saturday afternoon, and I'm SO GLAD I did... You know how they say one of the best things about Mexico is the food? I have to admit, I would honestly wouldn't know and just have to trust the stories I've heard, as I've never been lucky enough to go to Mexico.... But all my life I've heard stories about people who go and basically remind you.. NEVER hit a restaurant for _authentic_ Mexican food. You want to hit the street vendors. Well, St. Louis has a fantastic surprise.. Now you can do that right here in the city! Part of a three-restaurant set up, Amigo Sole is the "street vendor" restaurant that's not on the street. (And having met the owner of the full set-up, I'm REALLY hoping i get invited to the grand opening of Jekyll & Hyde) As it was middle of the day Saturday, I didn't ask for anything alcoholic (so i don't know if the reviewer that asked for alcoholic beverages and was told they didn't have any was just unlucky or if it was true.) But I'll take a Mexican Coke over American Coke any day of the week (NO, get your minds out of the gutter.. not that powdered one!). Anyway, I went simple for a quick stop, and went with the Chicken Bomb. at the recommendation of the cashier and he was quick to name this one off.. (and always remember cashiers, have a favorite READY, so thumbs up to the cashier on this one!) . And then to my amazement.. no more than 5 minutes later, HOT, tasty, cheesy, chicken quesadilla style BOMB-diggity! (Ironically this one is not listed on the website menu, only the instore menu? Come on Sole, online is everything today :) ) Absolutely delicious food.. and absolutely messy too, as it literally would fall apart in my hands.. (HEY, that's a good thing!) As for the decor.. 100% true, as Amigo Sole definitely has SOUL! (and lots of soles!). Again Amigo Sole isn't designed to be a 'great sit down' restaurant, it's designed to be street-vendor FUN!!!! and with what decoration they have, it pulls it off fantastically in my opinion. So just based on my meal, what the owner told me about the Amigo Sole, you're getting EXACTLY what you're promised a Mexican street vendor serving fantastic Mexican street vendor food, only with a roof over your head the entire time. During the meal, met again (Who i believe to be) the owner of the store and talked with him about Amigo Sole and how amazing it was to me... and he told me about the three-restaurant combination. (And I apologize sir, but I completely forgot your name when we talked!). even mentioning they share three kitchens when it gets busy (so I was kinda lucky as i think the rain scared everyone out for the day), but I'm still hoping for the Jeckyll & Hyde invitation! (I'll even pretend to find a date if I have to for the upscale part!)
