The interior design was impressive and tasteful. The food was very sauce heavy with minimal choices for vegetarian or gluten free diners. The menu made very clear that they do not offer substitutions. I hate cheese sauce so that automatically eliminated about half the menu. Nothing exciting or unique on the menu but my meal was tasteful. The margarita was delicious and incredibly priced. The wait staff was attentive and I couldn't believe how fast our food arrived!! Overall I would return and I would recommend. I was very impressed by the price. Location is very convenient.

I loved everything about this place except for the food. There's a huge parking lot, and upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted right away by a friendly host. He brought my friend and I to our booth. I was instantly impressed by the clean, modern, and trendy look of the restaurant. It's super cute in there, and I absolutely love all the little details they've included throughout the restaurant's design. The women's restroom was nice and clean, which is always appreciated. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered came out quickly. They have a happy hour deal where their large margaritas are $10, so I ordered classic lime. My friend had a raspberry marg and wasn't super impressed, so she ordered lime for her second round. Not the best margaritas I've ever had, but not the worst either. The complimentary chips and salsa was average. My friend ordered some queso, and it was pretty runny. They don't allow substitutions for anything on their menu, which is a bit inconvenient. For our meals, I had a burrito bowl with shredded chicken. It was a tiny portion, but I couldn't even finish it because it was like flavorless soup. It was pretty much just runny beans, shredded chicken, and some shredded lettuce. My friend had tacos that looked much better.

I have been to Carreta's several times and seen they have several "NEW" items on their already awesome menu, one of the "NEW" items are their Barria Tacos!! Never had them in my life until tonight - simply amazing tacos and simple. They were so so good, unmatched high food quality, great service, and overall 5 STARS!!!! A must try to anyone new to their great restaurant and to their wonderful staff!! Thank-you

A nothing special Fish Fillet... i coulda made this at ho.e for $4 and some old bays. :-(

Knowing any Spanish would have been a little of a convenience at this restaurant.. typical complimentary chips and salsa chips were rather stiff and thick but so was the salsa unlike some of the previous comments... I asked the waiter if they had a fish specialty or a bone-in fish and he said yes and pointed at something on the menu and I said "bone in? He said yas.. i said "okay" this is what came out definitely not bone in, definitely not a specialty, definitely NOT a filling dinner...... Wifey had the Fajitas Carretas, which is her norm at ALL Mexican restaurants..... and what she got was half the size of all other Mexican restaurants, guessnits the location. Higher class clientele, higher prices, lower portions. I forgot what taco trio our gueat had but it was equally some food truck street taco plate. No joke our dinner felt like what shoulda been a lunch meal for a dieter. I wish i could say something nice about yheplace, like the drinks were on point, or service top notch, but we don't drink outside of home and well the language barrier was huge here. Decore & Paintings on the wall were nice. Sadly a one and done for this family.

Fast and friendly service with fun and relaxing vibes, while feeling clean and updated. There are a lot of options on the lunch menu and a la carte. Crispy tacos are great, and so are the chimichangas and burritos. Would love to try the margaritas, but haven't made it over for dinner yet. :)

Guacamole, salsa and chips. Salsa is amazing and chips were perfectly thin and crispy.

I am visiting my family in st. Louis and I was looking for some highly rated Mexican food. Found this place and loved it. Place was clean and staff was nice. Great selection of food. I had chicken and steak tacos and they were filling and tasty. Also had the guacamole and it was good, it just needed jalapeños. Great value for the dollar.

Food and service is to the point. I'd recommend their tacos, chorizo quesadillas and fajitas.

Stopped by during Cinco de Mayo for lunch. Chips and salsa had hit the table before I got back from washing my hands. Salsa had good flavor, and the chips were thin, but not too thin to break apart when getting salsa. I chose Pollo Fundido as my entrée. It came with beans and rice. The entrée was a super thin piece of chicken breast, with sautéed onions, and green peppers, all covered in cheese sauce. It also came with 3 four tortillas.

Ever been somewhere and then upon first bite think "oh no"? Well I had that here. Walking in the ambiance was nice, generally clean and appeared to have a good established clientele. Upon being seated I was immediately given chips and salsa and greeted by a waiter. Knowing what I wanted I didn't even bother with the menu and ordered carne asada and a coke. First, the chips were great but the salsa was bland. Not only was there no spice (fine with me I'm a spice wimp) but there was no flavor. I found myself hunting for the few chunks of onion to have a taste of something other than tomato. The carne asada came out on a sizzle plate. I have never in my life seen this, but to each their own. The meat was very fatty and heavily salted. So much so I tried to put lime on it to tame the salt. The beans, plain. The guacamole, not only scarce (a tablespoon at best) but it too was plain. The only thing on that table that had seasoning was the steak and it was too much. They didn't ask what kind of tortillas I wanted and just brought flour. If ever there was a default it should be corn. All in all...disappointing.

Dined her on Valentines Friday! It was a full house but we were immediately seated when we arrived. Our waiter was good but face paced! He wouldn't slow down when stopping at our table. Literally had to tell HEY to get him to stop! Service was efficient and the food was well seasoned. Compared to the portions in the south, they were much smaller than what we were expected of but overall food was good and service was pretty good too.

Don't let the outside change your mind because you will be pleased upon entering and especially with the food. Nice, clean well lit with a full bar area , kid friendly and lunch specials too.Strawberry margarita wasn't overly sweet ( good) and the right amount of of tequila.Soft beef taco was great , beef was seasoned well and toppings were fresh. Beef Chimichanga was perfect as were the beans and rice.Husband had a chicken dish and loved it.

My brother and sister in law have been recommending this place for a while. I finally had the opportunity to visit. This place is completely unassuming located in a strip mall just off 270 in Creve Couer. The space is modern with beautiful artwork. Our server was friendly and prompt with orders and delivering food. I definitely recommend the guacamole. Had the perfect texture and consistency. I went with the Aztec chicken for my meal. My only complaint was that I could have used a little more of everything on my plate. The rice and beans were seasoned perfectly. The chicken with diced veggies made for a hearty dinner. I had a pineapple jalapeño margarita with my meal. Just the right amount of sweet salty and heat.

I had eaten a big lunch, so I ordered a couple of sides, Poblano Rajas and Half-Smashed Black Beans no cotija. For the table, my daughter's ordered the Classic Queso, and Chips & Salsa Two-Ways. The Queso was good but those salsas? They were really great. The red was smokey, which I love and not a lot of places do, and the green was a spicy pineapple, I think, it was so good! There was a Handmade Limeade ordered and it was so refreshing! I enjoyed the sides I ordered; I tasted the Al Pastor Empanadas, delicious and more so with that green salsa - sweet and spicy! Great spot I am glad we tried. Would love to return for a pitcher of margaritas when I am not driving!

It's been a few weeks since I had any pocket cash to go out to eat... so I decided to pick a food…read moresource at random for a Saturday afternoon, and I'm SO GLAD I did... You know how they say one of the best things about Mexico is the food? I have to admit, I would honestly wouldn't know and just have to trust the stories I've heard, as I've never been lucky enough to go to Mexico.... But all my life I've heard stories about people who go and basically remind you.. NEVER hit a restaurant for _authentic_ Mexican food. You want to hit the street vendors. Well, St. Louis has a fantastic surprise.. Now you can do that right here in the city! Part of a three-restaurant set up, Amigo Sole is the "street vendor" restaurant that's not on the street. (And having met the owner of the full set-up, I'm REALLY hoping i get invited to the grand opening of Jekyll & Hyde) As it was middle of the day Saturday, I didn't ask for anything alcoholic (so i don't know if the reviewer that asked for alcoholic beverages and was told they didn't have any was just unlucky or if it was true.) But I'll take a Mexican Coke over American Coke any day of the week (NO, get your minds out of the gutter.. not that powdered one!). Anyway, I went simple for a quick stop, and went with the Chicken Bomb. at the recommendation of the cashier and he was quick to name this one off.. (and always remember cashiers, have a favorite READY, so thumbs up to the cashier on this one!) . And then to my amazement.. no more than 5 minutes later, HOT, tasty, cheesy, chicken quesadilla style BOMB-diggity! (Ironically this one is not listed on the website menu, only the instore menu? Come on Sole, online is everything today :) ) Absolutely delicious food.. and absolutely messy too, as it literally would fall apart in my hands.. (HEY, that's a good thing!) As for the decor.. 100% true, as Amigo Sole definitely has SOUL! (and lots of soles!). Again Amigo Sole isn't designed to be a 'great sit down' restaurant, it's designed to be street-vendor FUN!!!! and with what decoration they have, it pulls it off fantastically in my opinion. So just based on my meal, what the owner told me about the Amigo Sole, you're getting EXACTLY what you're promised a Mexican street vendor serving fantastic Mexican street vendor food, only with a roof over your head the entire time. During the meal, met again (Who i believe to be) the owner of the store and talked with him about Amigo Sole and how amazing it was to me... and he told me about the three-restaurant combination. (And I apologize sir, but I completely forgot your name when we talked!). even mentioning they share three kitchens when it gets busy (so I was kinda lucky as i think the rain scared everyone out for the day), but I'm still hoping for the Jeckyll & Hyde invitation! (I'll even pretend to find a date if I have to for the upscale part!)
