First off the waiters were nice, great and always making sure we were doing well, and helping us with our refills. Very super nice, they made the experience well worth. For the food, the appetizers were very good, especially the Fiesta Platter. The chicken wings served was well seasoned and the quesadillas were a standout for me. Definitely a must if you have a crowd of 2-4 people who are hungry! The Carne Asada they gave out was HUGE. We loved it, and it was seasoned well, would definitely order that again whenever I visit. The Fajita Burrito was huge as well, stuffed with steak, rice and more cheese, it was a delicious and flavorful fight to go against when taking that burrito on. If you could only taste through the app! This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in STL and possibly anywhere. Their food is quality, flavorful, and perfect portion sizes. It is a family-oriented atmosphere with friendly staff. I've been coming here for years and had my go-tos on days I didn't want to think. Today, I was looking at the menu thinking I was going cray cray because it looked different. Whew, not crazy - today they launched new menus! They've simplified the menu in offerings, but kept protein selection for all applicable items. There's new items on the menu, and today I tried one - Chimichanga Rancheras- and 6 out of 5 ! The ranchera sauce has spice, not as spicy as their house-made salsa. The chimi is soaking up queso and then topped with a healthy dousing of the Ranchera sauce. The pork, the pulled pork that's inside it- awning the best I've ever had, including bbq restaurants.: moist, juicy, enhanced porkiness flavor... mouthwatering. Long-time customer here (I am local despite Yelp thinking I am in CA) and I was there yesterday and they know us on sight, that's how often we visit... I am becoming disillusioned with this restaurant. Freddie and his sister take great care of everyone, but Edwin, other family members and non-family staff like to spend a lot of time in the corner on their phones and watching TV, instead of waiting on people. The food is still great, but the service is steadily going downhill. Nobody is asking, 'Is everything OK?", "Do you need anything?", "Do you need a box?", "Do you want your check?", nothing. If you want to go to a place where you will be abandoned after your food is delivered, this is now it. My family used to regularly look forward to going to dinner at this restaurant, and we used to consistently feel like a 40% tip was earned, but that is not the case, and this is not our first choice anymore. As soon as we sat down they bought warm homemade chips, salsa and we ordered guacamole. Our waiter was very good. The food was tasty. Such a cute family owned place. I live across the street in bevo and will definitely be walking over here more often!! I got the chicken taco salad it was HUGE and had so much meat, 10/10. My friend got the chimichangas and they were amazing, we split the chorizo dip and it was also delicious. This is legit one of my favorite Mexican food in the city! I always recommend it to people who recently move to the city. If I lived nearby, I know I would go to Mariachi's II at least once a week. I had the fajita burrito and the large Cadillac margarita. The grilled chicken fajita burrito was seasoned and tasty. The fajita veggies were crunchy the way I liked it. I could barely finish the margarita, you really get your money's worth with the amount of alcohol they put in it. The portion size are pretty big, I couldn't finish my food after stuffing my face with chips and Salsa. It was nice having leftovers to take home. The staff were attentive and accommodating. Mariachi's II gets extremely busy during the weekends and I don't think they take reservations. Always nice to plan ahead, we were luckily to be seated right away! read more

My daughter and I love chile rellanos and that's why we came here. On the menu, is says that you can only order one chile rellano per combo plate. So, I got my combo with a chile rellano and a beef tostado. My daughter got hers with cheese enchiladas. We deemed the rellanos as ok. I found the rest of the food ok but on the bland side. When I want Mexican food in St. Louis, this is where I go. Authentic, fresh, delicious, super fast service. So fast that often I regret getting a pitcher of Margaritas as the food arrives before I'm one glass in. I always get the enchiladas although I want to try more. The enchiladas are just so good. Holy hell! Ok, so we've been in the area for quite some time and we've been to a good, I'd say, ten places to eat Mexican. As a matter of fact there's a place that's 5 minute's walking distance that's alright. We were hoping that would be our go-to place to get just food in general, but bonus because it's Mexican. Mariachis II has blown all these other places out of the water. We went for Friday lunch and couldn't have had a better experience. We were seating right away, drink orders taken right away, complimentary chips and salsa right away, and we order the queso which came within a minute, nice and hot. The menu wasn't huge, which was perfect. Other places give you so many dishes I don't think anyone orders more than a quarter of what's on the menu. But the menu was their lunch menu which was nice, they had options for fajitas, a few more things, or the combos. That's what we got. You get to pick either two or three items, I think there were 6 items....I'm sure you can look at the photos here and see the menu. I got the crunch beef taco, mini chimi, and chili relleno. My wife got Crunchy beef taco, mini chimi, and a tostada. Y'all.....the beef tacos were so good. Not the usual watered down taco meat you find everywhere else, it was actual, nice meat that was well flavoured and just ever so slightly dripping of grease. The toppings were pico de gallo and worked well with the tacos. The chili relleno was the best I've ever had. It wasn't burn your mouth hot, it was full of cheese, the breading was perfect, and the sauce was out of this world. Now, the mini chimi on the other hand....where wasn't much mini about it. It was about 8 inches long, about 3 inches across. (insert your own phallic joke here) It was well wrapped, the tortilla wasn't too thick, so it wasn't just a bunch of dough, the filling was the same as the taco, the cheese sauce was super good. I give this visit a perfect 5 stars. I will definitely go back and hope for the same type of food quality. Oh! We heard this place was awesome. It has a lot of seating and bright colors. It has its own parking lot. We had a big party and went on a Saturday for dinner in December. We love Mexican food but were underwhelmed by the food. We had various tacos, rice, beans, chips, margaritas, queso, and it was not bad but nothing was very flavorful. It took forever to get our bill. The waitress was nice. That counts for a lot in making the experience better. When I first try a Mexican restaurant I like to keep it simple and order a combo plate with a taco, enchilada, and chili relleno. Chips and Salsa - Chips were thin and fresh. Really good. The salsa was a little bland but fresh. Nothing offensive here, but nothing to wow me either. Combo plate - Beef taco was ground beef and the shell appeared to be a store bought crunchy shell. Cheese enchilada has more than ample cheese but wasn't topped with any enchilada sauce that I could tell. The chile relleno was the best of the three. The ranchera sauce was mildly spiced but flavorful enough. The beans and rice were solid. In short all the food was acceptable but nothing I would seek out. They have grilled or fried, soft or hard...my fav is the grilled soft. The salsa is also yummy too, but I'm not a fan of cilantro so that ruined for me once I tasted it. Let me give some kudos in response to Cinco De Mayo 2020 in the midst of Covid! I had this place bookmarked and wanted to give it a go. This place has a drive thru, but patrons didn't understand that they were supposed to call in their order and use the drive thru to pick up. As a result the line was uber slow and backed up with folks placing their orders at the window. The restaurant pivoted and took orders but had patrons park to the side so they could keep the line moving for those who pre ordered. It was a site to see the "runner" coming outside going car to car delivering food. He was hustling! I opted for the Santa Fe Nachos, individual nachos with beans and chicken served with sour cream, guac and pico. I thought the food was really good. The guac was especially tasty and good chunkiness. The portion size was huge, I could only eat 1/2 before I was full. The chicken could have used a bit more seasoning. Can't wait to try in house eating when Covid is over. read more

I don't know what happened to Mariachis 1 but the 2.0 version really has it going on. It looks like an old Lee's chicken building and then you walk in to a bar area and restaurant. The salsa is fresh and I love the cilantro and onion in it. It's not bland or super watery like a lot of the free salsa you get. Chips are warm and perfect not like a lot of stale chips you get places. There was a margarita special on their Cadillac margarita and it was Jumbo so we split it (because who can drive after a 44 oz Marg let alone with that blood sugar)! Came here based on a rec and I'm glad we did. The food was really good. Wanted some good tex mex after moving here from Houston back in April and just been sorely disappointed. I gave four stars because my husband didn't like his burrito but I didn't try it so I can't say if he was right. He didn't like it because it didn't have all the stuff they put in burritos he says but I don't know about that. My meat was seasoned well and my crunch taco wasn't that weird soggy mess. Got a shit ton of beans and the rice was good. Cheese enchilada was tasty. Servers were on top of it and their soda machine as on point. Sounds dumb to talk about a soda machine but it has to be a good balance of carbonation and syrup to be tasty to me. Just saying. Great music.
