I visited on a Sunday evening and the service was super fast - entrees were out maybe 10 minutes or so after ordering. It was seemingly a slow night, where about half the space was empty. I got the Acapulco cheese with steak. It's basically a loaded taco, with refried beans or rice on the side. It's a great deal, with tons of food on the platter. We also got a queso to share (not pictured) and that was also quite yummy. I visited on Labor Day for lunch and was surprised by how busy it was. My server was running between tables which made the service a little slow and unorganized. The complimentary salsa and chips were tasty. The chips were perfect with the guacamole. The guac needed a little salt but I never had the opportunity to ask my server because he didn't come back to my table until my entree was ready. The salsa that came with my tacos was spicier than the one served with the chips and I liked it more. The carne asada was a bit dry. I added some of the guac and the salsa to them. read more

We've been coming to Luciana's for years because the location is convenient and the food is consistently good. The interior is lovely, like being in a courtyard. The booths are comfortable and the bar area can hold a party of people if needed. We used to hold work celebrations in the bar. They have added a really inviting outdoor patio that is colorful. This week I brought my granddaughters. They have a great lunch and kid's menu with reasonable prices on traditional Mexican favorites. My granddaughters had the taco lunch and the quesadilla lunch. Their meals came with rice, lots of rice. They were both happy with their meals and cleaned their plates. The food is not too spicy for the kids. I had the Lunch Special #6 - chicken enchilada and tostada lunch which came with sides of rice and beans. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My husband had the Lunch Burrito Deluxe (beef) which was covered with lettuce, tomato and sauce. Our server, Jesus, was excellent, brought covered glasses for the kids and kept our water full. The inside definitely doesn't match the outside. The entryway leads into a big central dining room that looks like a big courtyard, complete with a blue sky mural. Then there are big cozy semi-circle booths all around the outside. It's not what I expected to see but I enjoyed how unique it was. There's a big menu with all the things you expect to see. I went with a taco salad. It came out quickly and tasted good. I enjoyed the chips and salsa as well. The servers weren't overly friendly as they seemed busy but they worked quickly and checked on me several times throughout. First time visitor. Got to the restaurant early with a group. We were seated right away. The restaurant is large and open and seems clean with plenty of seating. Our drink orders were taken quickly and the chips and salsas were brought out right away. We ordered queso and that was also brought out quickly. We then all placed our orders. Our waiter was friendly and patient with our group and checked on us frequently. Everyone got a lunch special and seemed to really enjoy their food. I had a burrito and an enchilada, both chicken. They were both good but they were lukewarm. Probably because they were trying to bring the orders all together. Not really a big deal. The food was still good. We are visiting from Ohio. Our son is playing in a 5 day baseball tournament in Grand Park. There are 5 Luciana's locations in Indianapolis. Our hotel is near this location on 86th. (This area is nice but too far away for a Grand Park Tournament.) The outside of Luciana's is attractive and festive. The inside is pale in comparison. The walls are painted a bright cantaloupe orange, the floor cement. Art is minimal but there are multiple rows of paper cutouts hanging over the main dining room. I expected more of a fiesta inside. Bathroom report: In my opinion, a restaurant that keeps its bathrooms clean (a public space) also keeps it's kitchens clean. On the surface, the bathroom was well maintained and in good repair. The same tile and grout was on the walls and the floor. The floor grout and about 3 inches of the wall grout was black from dirty mop water being sloshed around. It would need to be steamed cleaned at this point. Over all not bad. But I came here to eat. Chips and salsa need to be reviewed first. The chips were fresh and crispy but lacked flavor; some kind of seasoning is needed. In my opinion the purpose of the chip is to move salsa to my mouth so it was perfectly fine. The salsa was one of my all time favorites! Chunky and just a touch spicy. So tasty! I wanted to take some home! Hubs ordered the lunch chimichunga with ground beef. The beef was very good with mild seasoning and no grease. The presentation was festive with refried beans on one side and the chimi on the other. Between was a "stripe" if queso and one of ranchero. There was a significant quantity of sour cream on top of the chimu. The portion was generous for an $8 lunch. He would order this meal again. I ordered the fajita taco salad from the main menu. Fajita vegetables and grilled chicken was the second layer of the salad sitting on top of the lettuce. (steak was the other choice). That was topped with sour cream, cajotia cheese and pico. The salad sat in a fried shell. I normally request a bowl without the shell but I was off my game today. I would order this again! We both topped our food with that fabulous salsa! Service was good, the meals were prepared quickly and we would return. read more

We have passed the location in BroadRipple and they seem to always be busy. Now with three locations in Indy they must be doing something right...right? This location in its past life was an Abuelos. Then it was a Mikes Charcoal Grill. Luciana's has done a face lift on the outside with brighter colors. They still have the nice patio area with tables. Gone is the Diego Rivera mural on the back wall and the large art pieces. I'm guessing they were gone before Luciana's opened. They have installed new booths and way too many TVs in the dining area. The beautiful sky area is still there in the middle court yard. We started with queso. It was really good but a bit thin at first. It could have used a bit of a stir before it was served. My meal was combo #4 One Chicken Tamale. You can tell it was handmade because the masa was way too thick. I ate the chicken and left most of the shell. One Ground Beef Enchilada. It was very good and I liked the red sauce. One Ground Beef Burrito. The burrito was indistinguishable from the Enchilada except for different color on the outside. The burrito was just ground beef, no beans, no cheese nothing extra on the inside. No sides come with combo #4 but beans and rice come with #1,2.3,5 and 6. Husband got Grilled Chicken Quesadilla. His came with rice , lettuce, tomato and sour cream. He liked it and the rice. We decided we had to try the fried ice cream. It was pretty good. Ice cream tasted like it was rolled in cinnamon toast crunch. The sopapilla weren't light and fluffy little pillows but they were still good. I felt like our server just did the basic. He took our order brought the food. Never check on us once after. When he did come back he asked one or two checks. That's when we ordered dessert. Then again he wasn't back till he brought the check. Our server seemed to be the only employee not wearing a mask. We would probably be back. I'd try a different meal. read more

Honestly I went in with low expectations but for a sit down chain restaurant I was pleasantly surprised. The server was great and was very attentive to our party of four. The skinny margaritas were fantastic and the queso was bomb dot com. I'm a big fan of El Rodeo (106th) and I would probably still choose that restaurant for sentimental reasons but the queso definitely rivaled in quality and the atmosphere was way more chill. Went to Luciana's last night with my sister. This was our first time at this location. There is ample parking, wheelchair accessible and big enough for large groups. We were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. After ordering, our food came out fairly quickly. I got a half order of shredded chicken nachos. Delicious! I should have followed the other reviews and ordered the Arroz con Pollo but I wanted to try their tacos so I ordered the Tacos Trios. The best of the three was Chorizo. It was moist and tasty. The other two were beef and pork which were both super dry and the pork was very fatty. I couldn't finish it with the amount fat contained in the pork. My wife had chicken fajitas and they were good but nothing special. The rice and beans and chips and salsa are similar to El Rodeo or other Mexican restaurants. Chips and Salsa were gratis. The Arroz Con Pollo (chicken and rice) is my husbands favorite. It's just creamy with the cheese and is a good combo with the tortilla on the side. I tried the fish tacos this time. It's just grilled fish lettuce tomato and cheese on a flour tortilla. I think it would have been better on corn tortilla... but this side of rice that came with it was huge! I had 2 more more meals with my leftovers. During Covid-everyone was masked, they had hand sanitizer in the front. With the high booths and distance between everyone we felt safe during lunch. My mom and I went to Luciana's Mexican restaurant on Wednesday night May 10th. This is a new location for Luciana's on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. I noticed they're still doing construction outside of the restaurant, there are accessible parking spaces, and entering the building there are no stairs. Since, my mom & I made it out there at 9pm there were only a few people inside the restaurant. The booths are huge seating chairs, yet the actual tables are smaller. I did like some of the Mexico decor, and the women's restroom could had been cleaner from what I seen, there was no actual soap in the soap dispenser, but a big container of pink soap. Our Server was Mariela she was definitely nice, friendly, and knowledgeable on the menu and drinks too. I ordered the 27oz margarita on the rocks which was quite strong and good at the same time. As, far as food I ordered two shrimp quesadillas à la carte only the queso & shrimp, it was good however what I didn't like was I had to cut the quesadillas up. My mom ordered three hard shell tacos that came with everything on it, and she also had the frozen 27oz peach margarita. I will definitely come back especially when it's not close to closing time to try more delicious items including drinks. read more

Omg. I cannot believe that the first time I'm trying this place is during the quarantine. I've wasted six years of living in Indianapolis. I do know that I won't be wasting any more time. I've got so many more dishes to try! So it was yelps big night in and we decided to go somewhere close and local. Luciana's fits both those requirements. I went with the enchiladas verdes and a pitcher of margaritas to go and it cost me like $30. Which seems reasonable when you know they give you an entire bottle of tequila for the margaritas. I was pleasantly surprised that we also got chips and salsa to go. For some reason I didn't expect that. (The chips were so good especially since I've been craving them) the enchiladas were also really good and the pitcher of margaritas was STRONG. I'm going to be nursing this for awhile. Today I stopped in and placed a to-go order. The person that took my order was very nice. I didn't have to wait too long for the food. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with everything. The chimichanga had burnt chicken and bones in it. The Al Pastor was extremely dried out as well as the cilantro that topped it. I haven't been here in a long time. After a long enjoyable morning at The Indianapolis Zoo we were quite hungry and considering options of places to stop on the way home. Luciana's was our pick. This was our first time at the restaurant. The restaurant was not very busy and the tables occupying diners were spaced at a good Covid standard. I have posted pictures of all of our entrees. We enjoyed the chips and salsa that were served at the beginning of our visit. The portions for all of our entrees were generous. The kids and I brought home our leftovers since the portions were so generous. We all thoroughly enjoyed our selections. We had intended to try fried ice cream but completely forgot by the end our meals. The prices seemed fair and comparable to others popular Mexican restaurants. So ALL of my friends say they really enjoy Luciana's. The Traders Point location unfortunately did NOT live up to the hype. First of all, there were a few large groups, so the wait staff was much more attentive to those tables. When we were waited on, the waiter's attitude was not particularly welcoming or comforting and I understand that I could not do the difficult job that he does, managing so many people and orders at once, but it does make the experience less enjoyable when you feel like a burden to the person serving you. When our food arrived, it was nice to see it sizzling, but the fajita meat was much too dry and not flavorful at all. I took home some leftovers and when I ate the meat next day with some salsa, it was much much better. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing... I do hope to go back after reading some reviews on here so I can pick the right dish! read more

I really liked this place- service was very fast, prices were very reasonable, and my food was good. I had shrimp burritos; the shrimp were really flavorful and the portion size was good. Yes, the portions are slightly smaller (they were ridiculously large before). Expensive, included ingredients are gone (guac). Brought an extended family party of 10 to eat on a late Saturday afternoon and had an excellent experience. Based on the interior feel, I got the impression the restaurant may have been an Abuelo's at some point prior. Restaurant faces 86th street from the north side with plenty of parking surrounding it. Service was prompt and efficient and the food was pretty good (I ordered vegetarian taco salad which had a nice variety of items and seemed like a decent value).
