Dr. Kim is great...I went to literally 3-4 other dentists that all told me I needed 10-15 fillings re-done! Dr. Kim gave it to me straight and triaged what I needed to get done (e.g. I didn't need 10 fillings)...his staff is courteous and appointments are always punctual/on time. No waiting at all. I highly recommend him if you're looking for an honest dentist. And his office is right up the street from the Americana - I go there for lunch afterwards. read more

I haven't even been to see him yet and already I am amazed. Seriously. So amazed that I joined yelp just to say thanks guys and to tell about how awesome this guy is! I just moved here from NJ where it took me literally years to find a dentist I trust. ( I had been totally psychologically scarred by many a dentist) I haven't been insured in a year so I was pretty nervous about that already, not to mention the flashbacks of the lil shop of horrors dentist I was seeing in my head. Anyhoo, I broke a tooth today on who knows what so i was freaking out. I looked online for affordable dentists in LA, yeah a sure way to get a hack, but I had no choice, I didn't know where else to go. A hit came up for yelp so I clicked it just to see what was up with it. I clicked on the first 5 star dentist thinking "Eh yeah, i totally can't afford this." I read the amazing reviews and someone had a story just like mine. I figured why the heck not? Let's give it a shot and called Dr. Kim. Expecting to get a receptionist I was very surprised when he answered the phone himself at 3:30pm! I said I needed to make an appointment and I had no insurance. His exact words were "Okay." My wheels totally screeched to a halt, never in my life had a Dr. of any kind ever told me "okay" when i said I had no insurance. Usually you get a "tsk,tsk" and a "Sorry, we aren't taking new patients." Back in NJ a few years ago, I've even had a few different dentist's receptionist tell me that while I was in tears from the pain. Let's just say I was floored by his response. Even when he told me how much x-rays cost I was shocked at how reasonable he is. What a nice guy, I already have nothing but kudos for him. I'll try and update on Wednesday and let ya'll know how it went. Thanks Yelp! Who knew? I am now a true believer. =) Okay so here's the update: This guy ROCKS. Seriously times seriously. If i could give him 12 stars I would. He lived up to the expectations and more. Turns out I didn't break a tooth it's a bone fragment from some previous surgery. His consultation was free and I only paid $100 for a full set of X-rays. His receptionist is amazing too, she addressed me by my name before I even introduced myself. I moved from NYC a year ago and have been searching for a dentist in Los Angeles for the past year. I had my first appointment today and Dr. Kim is the best dentist I have been to. The entire practice is so helpful. Dr. Kim is honest, helps problem solve and provides multiple options while giving his opinion. I'm so grateful I was referred to his practice. I've been going to Dr. Kim for many years now. Over the years I've had checkups, X-rays, cleanings and a mouth guard fitted. The customer service at his office is excellent. A special shout out to Bella who is so helpful on the phone and in person to explain insurance coverages and schedule appointments. I've never had to wait for my scheduled appointments. In fact, they even take me in early if I get there a little early. I also highly recommend Chelsey for the teeth cleaning. Dr. Kim takes the time after his staff completes the services to discuss the dental visit. Over the years I had my share of bad experiences with dentists. It's literally painful to try to find a good dentist. I had dentists who gave super discounts if you were a cash customer but did a crappy job and I ended up losing a tooth. I realized the hard way that you have to be proactive and ask questions---seek a second opinion and not just go for the cheapest deal. I have finally found a dentist that is competent, reliable and professional. Dr. Kim is very thorough and understanding. He is very straightforward and he listens. I have been his patient for over 5 years and never have been disappointed. Of course the bonus for me is that Dr. Kim's office is within minutues from my work. He is very prompt and always can get me in and out of his office within 1 hour. And I never have to wait to more than 5 minutes for my appointment unlike others who can take over an hour. read more

For the last 2 years I have been flying from CA to SC to see my dentist, which I've had for more than 15 years. I've done this because my SC dentist has been unmatched in the area or knowledge and quality - when comparing him to my husband's CA dentist. I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Kim, via Yelp. Dr. Kim is a fantastic dentist, I switched to him after reading the positive reviews and getting tired of the poor treatment by my old dentist in Sherman Oaks. I can recommend Dr. Kim without hesitation, he is very thorough and actually listens to his patients. Additionally, when I came back for another follow-up treatment 2 weeks later he greeted me by name and made me feel welcome. The overall customer service experience at this dentist is fantastic, everything from the front desk receptionist to the hygentists is outstanding and exemplifies what a dentist office should be like. I cannot recommend Dr. Kim and his incredible staff enough. I needed some dental work done recently, and Dr. Kim created a judgment-free environment where he helped me tackle my issues head on and fixed me up. He always took the time to carefully explain my dental health options to me and to help me understand what was needed and why he was doing the work he was doing. On top of that, Dr. Kim and his entire staff have done a great job of emphasizing safety during Covid. I had some hesitancy about going to the dentist during the pandemic, but from everything I've witnessed, they've gone to great lengths to ensure both the safety of their patients and their staff. Overall, the staff is very friendly and understanding, and I'm happy to continue being a patient of Dr. Kim's even despite recently moving away from Glendale to a different part of LA County. I have been going to Dr. Kim for a few years for mostly routine treatments i.e. cleanings, fillings, etc. During my recent teeth cleaning I advised him of a sore in my mouth which was not going away so they requested additional x-rays which indicated and infection that would probably require a root canal. Dr Kim referred me to get a CT scan which confirmed root canal. I went to the endontist for further examination only to be told the CT scan was useless and I needed another scan which they were going to do. I had just spent $200 on a scan. I advised Dr. Kim and the response I got was "Thanks for the feedback". I was not advising I was letting him know he just made me throw $200 away. His diagnosis was two root canals which was incorrect based on the specialist's diagnosis. In my case he should have just referred me to the specialist and let him decided what further exams were necessary to diagnose. Dr. Kim's quick to react and arrogance is definitely a put off. Needless to say I no longer go there. read more

This is a professional office. It is clean, friendly, and the staff works like a swiss watch: on time and consistently polished. My visits with Dr. Kim have been informative: he gives feedback on my brushing; we talk about repairs possibly needed down the road; he works efficiently looking at every tooth. Dr. Kim has been the only dentist who I feel has been 100% honest with me. I feel a lot of dentists try and push costly, unneeded, and possibly irreversible work on their patients, however Dr Kim has never done that with me. What sets Dr Kim apart is the professionalism of the office and friendliness of all the staff. Dr Kim himself makes follow up phone calls after procedures, which shows he is very concerned for his patients. Phenomemal! Simply reiterating what so many others have sai, Dr Kim is a gem of a dentist. I'd been so put off by my last dentist that I had not gone into see a one in 3 years. And paid the price! SMH Dr Kim's care when performing a root canal to ensure that at no time was I in doubt of what he was doing or why he was doing it , was simply excellent. His after treatment concern is something unmatched. He actually called that evening to find out if I was in any discomfort or distress! I agree with most of the reviews...Dr. Kim is superb. Among all of this positive qualities, I most appreciate his sense of ethics. I have a lot of work needing to be done, and he continues to help me find the most cost-effective route while explaining the pros and cons in a clear, direct and caring manner. I also enjoy the education I receive in the chair. For example, while I was given the dreaded shot, Dr. Kim explained a pain theory to me, a theory that states that the brain cannot process more than a certain number of pain signals at once. He explained that by shaking my lip while injecting the needle, he tricks my brain into responding to the first signal(the shaking) instead of the insertion itself. Now I know many people would prefer to skip this little info session, especially needle phobics, but it's still good to know your dentist knows what he's doing and can explain the process eloquently. I've referred my mom and she had a pleasant experience as well. I will continue to refer friends and family to him. read more

At first I was thrilled with Dr. Kim, as he seems to care deeply about his patients and was willing to come in before office hours to see me. Then I had an issue with my gums. Dr. Kim through up his hands dismissively and said he didn't know what it was. I told him I was looking online to try to figure out what it was. He angrily told me not to look things up online. I went to a different dentist who assessed the problem right away. Dr. Kim is great as long as all you need is a routine cleaning. read more
