It was so good, I thought I would go back for an oil change and 30 point inspection. However, this time I was unpleasantly surprised. They told me when I dropped off the car it would be $127 so I said no problem. When I returned it magically went up to $192! When I inquired into why they hemmed and hawed until it finally came out that they broke my oil filter cap. They claimed "those break all the time." I pointed out I have gotten my car serviced many times at the dealer (2017 car) and not once have they broke it. No response. They claimed they replaced it "with a better one." So you charged me $68 for a $30 ish aluminum cap that YOU broke. I really hate when people talk to women like they don't know anything about cars. I know they were price gouging me and I don't appreciate being talked to like I was an idiot. I have grown up going to car shows and working with my dad on his classic cars and I don't appreciate this behavior. I will not be returning. The only reason they get 3 stars is for the previous experiences.

Realizing the size of the job to pull the engine and send it off they worked with me on the labor cost. Grease Monkey on Ritchie Highway is unlike any automotive repair shop I have encountered in the…read moreBaltimore-Glen Burnie area. What separates this location from the typical garage is their combination of speed, mechanical capability, immediate service, and determination to finish the job correctly. I brought my vehicle in for substantial rear-brake work involving new brake drums, wheel bearings, brake components, hardware, and the related parts needed to properly complete the repair. Instead of telling me to leave the vehicle for several days before a technician could even begin, they started working on it immediately. That is the remarkable part of their business model. They provide the urgency people expect from a quick-service operation, but they are capable of performing serious and complex mechanical repairs. When additional parts were needed, they were able to obtain them from nearby suppliers extremely quickly. In one instance, the replacement drums arrived in roughly 15 minutes, and the technicians continued the repair without unnecessary delay. I also observed other customers arriving with automotive problems and saw the same sense of urgency: diagnose the problem, obtain what is needed, and get to work. There was no attitude of, "Leave it here and maybe we will get to it in a few days." The young leadership and technicians work with tremendous tenacity. If a repair requires another component, another adjustment, or another step, they keep moving forward until the vehicle is properly repaired. I did not have to stand over anyone or repeatedly ask whether the related components were being addressed. They handled the repair comprehensively. Many dealerships and traditional repair shops can keep a vehicle for several days simply because it is waiting in line before anyone begins working on it. Grease Monkey has created something different: bring the vehicle in, get the repair started, obtain the necessary parts quickly, complete the mechanical work, and get the customer back on the road. Their building says, "Done Fast. Done Right." After experiencing their service firsthand, I can say that is more than advertising. It describes how this location operates. For drivers, families, commuters, and businesses with fleet vehicles throughout the Baltimore and Glen Burnie area, this is a shop worth knowing about. Five stars. Grease Monkey is not simply another repair garage. They are demonstrating what modern automotive service should look like.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but life has been busy. As a single woman and a…read moremother, it can be really hard to find a mechanic you can trust without feeling like you're being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, that has been my experience more times than I'd like to admit. The first shop I called gave me a bad feeling right away based on their customer service, but I still made an appointment. Afterward, I checked their Yelp reviews and was shocked by how many negative ones they had. That didn't sit right with me, so I decided to get a second quote. I already had a good idea of what was wrong with my car based on past experience. When I called this shop, the difference was immediate. They were professional, respectful, and didn't argue with me or try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. I specifically looked for negative reviews--and there were none. I dropped my car off early that morning, and they gave me a clear time estimate for when it would be ready. They even sent photos of the issue. While I didn't fully understand what I was looking at, the fact that they were transparent enough to share images--knowing I could easily research them--told me everything I needed to know about their honesty. I don't remember the technician's name, but they took great care of my foreign car, Lexi, and I'm beyond relieved not to be driving around with grinding rotors anymore. I truly appreciate their professionalism and the way they treated me as a customer. Every single mother needs a mechanic she can feel safe with--and I'm so grateful I found one. Thank you all for your help.

Siwan ensured to explain every step and why certain things were required/recommended. Additionally, he ensured to show me how the cost was calculated (we all know car repairs can be pricey but he also makes sure that you know where your money is going!) I even received videos explaining the work being done on my car as it was done. Finally, the waiting area was very well-designed and comfortable. These added details were the cherry on top of an already amazing experience! Honestly one of the best experiences I have had. I will definitely be taking my car back when additional services are needed!

AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.
