We're from the Orange county California area and traveling back from Santa Clara for the world cup, we were driving and realized we were close to passing here again during lunch time and we just had to stop again. We got the meal deal for 2 people. Orange chicken, veggie fried rice, wontons, chow mein and dumplings. Delicious! Cozy little corner place that you can tell has a lot of history behind it. I don't know who rated this place so highly, They sure weren't Asian . I took my family in , the first impression was like being in a storage room. The place was quite dated and dirty .It was extremely hot and they had no air conditioning. When we got the food.... It was bland to look at, after tasting it, yeah no! I had take out at Lucky Bamboo. I was traveling between meetings around Monterey County and had not had breakfast or lunch. Decided to order food and had a hard time finding anything that seemed to be open, in my path and took online orders. Luckily, I found Lucky Bamboo! I got the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special. It came with an egg roll, egg drop soup, a wonton and plenty of freshly made Kung Pao chicken. The plate was ready when I arrived. The place is a hole in the wall. It definitely needs an update but the food was well made, plentiful and lasted me through the day. Don't let the outside stop you from going in. read more

Such a hidden in the wall place! The staff was super friendly and super open to give us recommendations as well as answer all our questions. We made a pit stop to eat and this place did not disappoint. I got a combination plate with kung pao chicken that came with a side of rice or noodles and I of course choose noodles. Please! Don't let this restaurant's plain appearance deter you. The food is impeccable. Fresher than fresh, flavors are rich, deep and complex while also being warm and inviting and satisfying. Truly outstanding in every way. Unsurpassed quality of ingredients...the vegetables are so fresh that I'm sure they are picked each morning. Wonderfully large portions that would easily make two or more meals....but the food is so good that you can't stop eating. We drive from Paso Robles twice or more per month -- only to eat here! I would have never guessed that Gonzales had a really good Chinese restaurant. Well, it turns out they do. I got the Singaporean street noodle and salt and pepper tofu which both hit the spot. The restaurant is clean and basic, you don't go here for the decor, you go here for the food. The lady who helped us was super nice. read more

Garlic pork lunch special with jasmine tea. Excellent value and wonderful food. We were on the road, headed back to the Santa Barbara area when we became peckish and needed a late lunch. Did some research on our phone and hopped off 101 and into downtown. At about 2pm, my coworker and I were the only two 'eat-in' customers (although a few folks came in to pick up their takeaway orders). We both had lunch specials and tea; with a generous tip for our friendly and attentive wait-person, this very tasty meal cost us just $20 apiece. I was both shocked and saddened with my meal a few nights ago. I ordered pork fried rice and egg rolls. The pork fried rice had clumps of white rice in it and the pork was at least day-old! This dish was not fresh. When it comes to the eggrolls I was shocked tasting broccoli and something like mashed potatoes inside of it. Never in my life if I had a Eggrolls like this and they never used to make Eggrolls like this. I am saddened because they are downgrading their food. I'm new to the area coming from Southbay. (Whoop Whoop reppin "The Bay" all day!) There aren't many or hardly any Asian restaurants within 50+ miles of my home not including Salinas area. I was advise to try this place so here it is. I ordered to go. I ordered the: 64. Wonton Soup w/pork- 2.5 out of 5 stars - It was okay not the best but decent. I probably wouldn't get pork again because it was the red BBQ pork that was precooked and re-cooked in the soup. Making it taste dry and almost rubbery to eat. It was a bit hard to swallow. The Napa cabbage, the zucchini and mushrooms were not overcooked so I like that. The wonton was good to me, not the best but good if you are craving it and have no where else to go. It had minced pork and bits of cabbage in it but it was mostly the doughy part. I was able to eat that. There was about 8 pieces in the soup so it helped fill me up. The soup size is a large and could be shared between 2 people. Also ordered 42. BBQ Pork- 1 out of 5 stars - This was not good. It was dry chewy and rubbery like they recooked it again after it being frozen. It's suppose to be soft and moist with flavor. I will not order this again. Very hard for me to eat. The appetizer portion was in a medium size container. I ended up throwing most of it away so don't waste your money. Customer Service- 3 out of 5 stars -They are friendly on the phone however pretty clueless about their menu when I asked for their opinion. I always like to get the workers input on what's popular and good but I didn't get that here. The response I got was, "It's whatever you like." Which to me was a red flag. Atmosphere- 2 out of 5 stars - I was just there for a quick 5 mins for pickup and it was very warm and musty inside. There was hardly any air flow so I can't imagine sitting there and eating. It seemed pretty clean but then again I wasn't there long enough to scope out the joint fully. Over all 2.5 out of 5 stars. - Would I come here again? Maybe if I'm lazy to cook and the hubby wants decent Chinese food. I have yet to try their other dishes so hopefully it will be better then the ones I got today. It's hard when you come from an area where Asian food is all over and competition is fierce. We were looking for a good Chinese restaurant on our way from our home near Pismo Beach to Hollister. I checked Yelp and this one appeared to be a good choice. We had loved the food at the Chinese restaurant in Hollister that burned down a couple of months ago, but needed to find a good substitution. This place is great and has delicious choices of Chinese food that is fresh and tasty. The service during Covid was great. We parked on the side street and someone came out to take our order and deliver it when it was ready. Very friendly and quick service, too. The food was pretty darn good, but maybe we just weren't expecting much after our 5 hour drive and not eating much besides diet Mountain Dew and saltines. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, and how quickly it arrived once we ordered! We also got to meet Yelp-famous Nancy (the owner) who was far more cordial to the locals than us, but hey, why waste a hello. She was still perfectly nice, btw. Your map might not direct you to the right place, it actually stops short of where the restaurant is actually located (mine did!). Keep going, its at the very end of the road, right by the second stop sign after you exit off the freeway. Once you see the farmer's market (grocery store), find parking (shouldn't be a problem - park on the street). It's at the intersection. Not much to look at from the outside, but go in and sit next to the heater, you'll enjoy some good food, and get enough to take home. read more

The food was tasty, I had fried rice and orange chicken with a dash of Siracha. The waitress was very attentive and even offered to top off our drinks as we were leaving.
