Been to at least 50 different Chinese restaurants in my life and China Gourmet has THE best lunch specials in terms of taste, food quality/quantity and price. If you're wanting a great meal after wine tasting, come here!

I love this place, everything comes out fresh and fast. 10 outta 10, this will always be my go to for good Chinese food!

Wonderful and friendly service with amazing and delicious food! The dining area in the restaurant is also very clean with great lighting and is decorated with beautiful Chinese paintings. I strongly recommend eating at China Gourmet!

Best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. We drove all the way from Pismo Beach, well worth the drive! BBQ Pork Chow Fun - Amazing Pupu Platter - Amazing (especially beef skewers)

The food was so good and the customer service was amazing, They are all so kind and have conversations with you. I really enjoyed eating here.

    Delicious twice cooked pork.

This is a really great lunch special, beautiful presentation in a special bento style box -see the photo. The food is very fresh, tasty, and large portions. Loved the pretty ambiance, great service, and tasty food. Highly recommended!

China Gourmet, located in Paso Robles, serves Chinese food with really fancy, upscale dining. They have an extensive wine wall with an incredible amount of local wine available! Their Chinese food is one of the best around, in my opinion. Everything we order is always fresh, super hot and absolutely delicious! My husband and I usually order chicken chow mein, orange chicken, sizzling black pepper steak and crab rangoon - Amazing!!! Only thing to note is that they are quite pricey (probably due to the fact that if you dine in it is quite fancy). We usually only order to-go/for pick up, so the price is a little steep since we're not staying in dine in, but, it's worth it in our opinion as good Chinese food is hard to come by in this area! Highly recommend if you're looking for really delicious Chinese food that never disappoints!

New to Paso but already found my new favorite restaurant for Wonton Soup, Orange Chicken, and fried rice.

Staff are always so friendly, tacos were not salty at all, and they always packed the food so neatly and just the right ratio of meat. They have their own parking lot to the side so if you can't find parking, park there. We ordered take out and even with the 17 min drive back home, the tacos still tasted fresh. I can't imagine what it would be like if we dine in. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting PR! Well worth the visit

But from the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better server. She recommended several dishes and, best of all, helped us make a few adjustments to the options for our kids. That kind of attention really makes a difference. I decided to go with the paella, and it ended up being a dish that everyone loved. We also tried the Bandeja Paisa, which was delicious. 9/10! My kids absolutely loved their pasta dishes, so we all left very happy.Without a doubt, this was a great choice and a very pleasant surprise. 100% recommended, especially if you're dining with your family.

We ordered that to share. It is insanely rich. It is dense and cheesy, and not really what I expected. I had a few bites but it wasn't really for me. For my main, I got the barramundi special that came with cooked vegetables and mashed potatoes. The fish was not great. It was cooked fine but a little fishy, which is usually not the case with barramundi. The cooked vegetables were also just fine, nothing special. The mashed potatoes, however, were excellent. The service was also not great. My friends ordered drinks and both were forgotten until we asked the server about the drinks. I wouldn't rush to come back, or if I did, maybe I would order differently.

She recommended sitting at the bar, so we did just that, and it was such a good choice. It was really fun to watch them cook and get to chat with the owner while he did so. We asked the owner what he recommended, and the calamari appetizer was his highlight. We started with that, and it was great. While everything else in the meal was also really good, this was the highlight and I'd absolutely get it again and again. For mains we got the scallop and scampi pasta over pasta and the trio fish plate special. Narrowing it down to these two wasn't easy since everything on the menu sounded good. I would get both items again, but will probably get something else next time just to try more of the menu. We came in right as they opened on a weekday evening, so we had the place to ourselves to start. It did start to fill in fairly quickly, so I would imagine it gets crowded on weekends.

I thought the seafood pasta would be a good choice! It was loaded with all kinds of good bits... clams, shrimp, mussels, calamari and maybe a few other little fishies. The problem was ALL of the seafood was overcooked beyond belief. It was really ruined because of that. The bar area was packed, so they're doing something right, but this place just wasn't for me. There are plenty of other places around the area. They also didn't have a bar! I wanted a cocktail after a day of wine sampling and NOT more wine. I left disappointed for multiple reasons (selection, quality, drink options). The bread was good, so there's that...

We arrived on time and stood at the entrance for about 7 minutes with zero acknowledgment. Servers and bussers walked right past us, no one said a word. When the hostess finally showed up, there was no apology, just a question about our reservation. She said our table was "almost ready" since the current guests had paid, but then refused to seat us at either of two open 4 tops, saying she wanted to save them for larger parties, even though at least four other 4 tops around the room already had just two people seated at them. She offered us a drink while we waited "a few minutes." Fifteen minutes later, still no table and no drinks provided, while guests with later reservations were seated ahead of us. When we asked again, her story changed: now the original table hadn't actually paid yet. By this point it had been 25 minutes past our reservation, so we finally confronted her directly and pointed out the empty 4 tops with only two people at them. Her explanation was that those parties had reservations, and I reminded her that we had a reservation too. She reluctantly seated us after that, with no apology or acknowledgement. What made it even more frustrating was watching her, later in the evening, seat other parties of two at 4 tops without any hesitation at all. There was never any acknowledgment of the wait or any reason given for why the rules seemed to apply differently to us. It's a shame, because the food and Yuki's service were excellent and deserved a five star night. But the disorganized, inconsistent hosting at the door made the first half hour of my birthday dinner stressful instead of special. Ask for Yuki if you go, just brace yourself at the door.
