I was a big fan of this place when it first opened and used to rave about their pho. Unfortunately, my visit on 5/2 was a huge letdown. From the moment I walked in, the service began with a bad start. The staff were chatting and joking behind the counter and too distracted to notice me. I had to grab a menu myself and ask in a loud tone if I could sit anywhere just to get their attention. Once seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for a server to come by. I ordered a boba drink and pho with brisket. The server returned after another 8 minutes to say they were out of both the boba flavor I wanted and the brisket. After I reordered, the replacement boba arrived extremely sweet -- basically tasted like watered-down sugar syrup with almost no tea flavor. The pho was even more disappointing.. the broth was watery and bland, there was very little beef, and the bowl was light on noodles and toppings. It felt like a shadow of what they used to serve. It's sad to see a spot that was once one of the best pho places in Salinas (in my opinion) decline this sharply. The restaurant was unusually empty, and the few other customers looked just as unimpressed. I understand rising food and restaurant operating costs, but cutting quality this much will only drive more people away. I love coming to Saigon! The service is always quick, the restaurant is clean, and I love their pho. It's one of my go-to spots when I'm craving some alone time or when I'm feeling a little under the weather and want something warm and comforting. This place used to the spot! I think they don't have the same cook or it's under different management but honestly the service and the food is not great like it used it. The pho has a different taste. We ordered plate #16 and holy cow! It was ridiculously salty . The rice tasted old and had plastic aftertaste . Everyone else seemed to be pretty bothered with the service as well. We ordered popcorn chicken and fries and honestly....it looked more like pork, had a weird taste and I don't know why fries had a brown look to it Overall, I do not recommend this place anymore! read more

Called in last minute to make reservation, was so nice to get the table ready for me within 40 minutes for 7 people. Ordered pho, shaking beef, banh xeo, and others that I could not remember. Their pho was good, big portion and full of meat. Unfortunately the sirloin was overcooked and the other parts of the meat have too much fats in them, so it was down on the score. Their shaking beef was also meh, very thin and overly sweet, probably not their strongest dish. Banh xeo was full of meat and fillings, but not particularly crispy. All in all, it was tasty but only lacking a bit here and there. Their service was pretty good though. Their restaurants are also huge, which is a plus. read more

The dipping sauce wasn't bad either, and I'd definitely order them again. The pho was delicious! The noodles came out a bit clumped together at first, but once broken up the flavor was spot on and every bite was worth it. The real highlight, though, was the chicken bánh mì warm toasted bun, perfectly grilled chicken, crisp veggies, and just the right kick of spice. A must-try! Service was fast and efficient with a great waitress. The space is big, lively, and even though it was fairly busy, everything came out quickly. Coming from the Bay with tons of pho choices, this one was a little disappointing. Our party all got pho, the broth was on the sweet side and lack of flavors. Definitely the sweetest broth I've ever had, in a bad way. The beef in the soup was kind of tough and chewy. Service was alright but they brought out all the noodles and never brought the appetizer shrimp spring rolls. I had to go ask them at the counter. I think they forgot about it because it took a while to come, there was not explanation or apology. Probably won't be coming back since nothing stood out. read more

Came here for some pho after a long workweek, and the Medium #2 (rare steak pho) totally hit the spot - absolute comfort food! I also tried their "new" garlic pork spring rolls and they were BOMB! Topped it all off with a taro boba shake to satisfy my sweet tooth :) The pho here is so good, a fellow customer approached me at my table asking what I ordered - because it looked delicious - so she could order it too! I didn't even add any condiments; the broth is so flavorful on its own, the rice noodles perfectly al dente, the beef tender and savory, with onions, cilantro, sprouts, basil and jalapeños to round out the dish. The restaurant is cozy with plenty of seating, and the staff are friendly and attentive. They also have bánh mì sandwiches, noodle & rice plates, and other variations of soup. A drink and food brought my total to 23$'s with some change. - I got a brown sugar milk tea with some boba which was not too sweet but not too bland just right for me at least! -I also ordered the vermicelli noodles with shrimp AND beef. Which I got to say I was a little baffled at the fact that I was only given 2 shrimps. We also tried the fried wings which were crispy and piping hot. It could use a little more seasoning but you can dip it in the sweet chili sauce to add more flavor. The banh mi was ok. Coming from the Bay Area, we have a lot of pho restaurants to choose from that are much better, so if you're also from the Bay you might be disappointed here too. Coming in, the floor was kind of sticky and the tables were not the most clean. When we got our food, I was surprised the bowl was pretty sparse! There was a lot of broth but not a lot of noodles and barely any meat. I used to order here once a week ever since we moved to Salinas, but we slowed it down due to errors and just QOS. Such as my order will be ready 15-25 mins but done in 45mins. No Jalapenos except 1 but they all have it. No rice & salad on one dish and asked for extra meat (charge more if need to), but come home with rice & salad and small amount of meat. This is on going. The 1st time I didn't feel fair in giving the reviews as it was too early in the change of ownership process. It was pretty bad. Nothing we were used to. The shaking beef had hardly any beef (as you see I haven't taken a single bite of it yet) and it's a new recipe that they are serving up. His stomach is bothering him this morning. Literally the best part of the meal was the egg roll. The chicken wings were fried rubber.. Like I took one bite spit it out and threw the others out. The boba and the pho was great. The options for different sizes of bowls was nice. The server was efficient and made sure everything was well. They checked on us for drink and food order. Then we got our drinks. I was VERY very disappointed when I got home to eat. Also, I did a phone order and clearly said fried chicken. When I got home, I opened the container and it was grilled chicken. WTF! My mom ordered food for me to pick up. It was a birthday celebration for me. When I arrived I was told they tried to call and let us know they did not have the "spices for the curry dish". This was baffling and ridiculous. To not have curry in a Thai restaurant? Not to mention they could easily purchase from the grocery store across the way. There was NO APOLOGY. I then picked up the noodle dish and the bahn mi she'd ordered. The noodle dish was pathetic. Just a small amount of vermicelli noodles, an old stale egg roll, two shrimp, and some old meat. The sandwich wasn't bad but did little to make up for not having curry (ridiculous), serving a lousy and overpriced noodle plate, and offering no apology for any of this. We're often told to support our local business, yet, this is the type of business that has me running to my local chain restaurant as to not get ripped off and have a lousy meal. The first time I came I ordered the pork sandwich and it was a bit sinewy, but overall it was really good. Today I got the grilled beef sandwich and had a really hard time chewing through it because they had big pieces of tough skin or close to the bone part of the beef in my sandwich. The picture I included was the last piece of "meat" I couldn't chew through. It looks like they jusy peeled it off the bone and added it to the sandwich as a filler. The service was ok. I came in when it relatively slow and they had two servers working, the same ones that were here last week when I came in, but they weren't very attentive because I had to get up several times to ask for a refill on my water. The ambiance is nice and I can see it getting really busy during their peak hours. Overall though, I may give them another chance, but not for a while. Staff, young guy and girl (wearing sweats and bare midriff top) walked to and back from tables multiple times. Never once were we asked if we were ready to order even drinks. Finally one of us went up to the counter to say we were ready to order, only to be told they'd come to the table. Again we waited for at least 3 more minutes sitting in the table directly in front of staff only to be ignored!
