Really wanted to like this place but it's gone from mediocre/ok to terrible. I've had a few dishes from here that were pretty decent, but those were a while back. Too bad as it's one of the closer restaurants to my house but after this last experience I will NOT be returning. The basic 'American-Chinese' stuff seems to be ok but underflavored, under-portioned and often overcooked or seems like it's old. That being said, the teriyaki chicken is ok, the egg roll was bland and soggy, the crab rangoons were very small for the amount of dough they were in (though the filling was good, just not enough of it) but the fried rice is a deal-breaker. The picture is an entire pint of "Chicken Fried Rice" which costs $4.55. Visually it looks like plain yellow rice with very little chicken in it, and that's essentially what it is but the flavor was incredibly bad. I've never had fried rice with NO VEGETABLES in it and this doesn't really taste 'fried' at all. It does however have a disgusting old oil flavor to it which leads me to believe it was tossed in a wok with dirty oil in it that gives it a bland, burnt flavor. The rice is what brings it down to 1-star, would give it 0 if I could. If they had tossed some peas, carrots and scallions in a CLEAN wok with CLEAN oil that might be 100% improvement but all you get for nearly $5 is a pint of yellow rice that tastes like they poured old, dirty fryolator grease in it. There is barely any chicken in this at all. What you see was after two bites of rice only (hoping I would find chicken and vegetables in a little deeper). They are now closed as part of the Silver Lane Beautify project... I was one of the first to go there when they opened and one if the last. taste never changed.. I loved the General Tso's chicken which I always asked for extra crispy. Perfect every time.. I don't know if they are going to reopen in town. Hope they do... OH AND THE REBUILDING OF EAST HARTFORD IS GOING BLAZES???? WE DON'T NEED MORE APARTMENTS.. The football field was a waste. Pretty soon they will be tearing it down to revamp it also. Excellent little spot in a strip mall for the price, so the value is great. I love the yellow rice you get with the lunch specials and most are under $6 for a very good sized portion of food. They don't come with another side like an egg roll or soup that other places offer but really, it shouldn't matter. I've eaten here and I love the large, circular tables, as they remind me of a typical dim sum restaurant. It's not overly big but it doesn't need to be. Take out is ready in no more than 10 minutes and comes with all utensils needed to dine at your desk after dashing. My beef with broccoli had a minor fishy smell so I'm wondering if other items were made in the same wok prior to getting my meal, that's my only minor complaint. The woman at the front counter is very nice and helpful, so service is top notch also. Add a soup and a can of soda and still get out of here for under $10 for lunch, they also take cards under that amount. read more

I am from Here but currently live in Florida. For some reason Chinese food is not all that good in Florida , (some say it's the water) Every time I am home I get Chinese food (and pizza) Today at Lucky China I wasn't so lucky, I ordered crab Rangoon, sweet and sour soup and General Tso chicken.. I believe the crab rangoons were left over from lunch warmed up in the microwave, they were so chewy I had to bite and rip them with my teeth. The hot and sour soup was any thing but Hot. It actually smelled like bad grease that was left over for a long period of time. It also had a "great" taste. No flavor )other than a grease like flavor and texture). My dinner looked and tasted like orange chicken, No chili peppers, no "zing". Even if it was orange chicken it wasn't good.. Wish I could give it more stars... Just can't do it... "Real reviews... Real people..." You know the deal. So they deliver... And in 30 minutes or less.. That earns a star... They get the order correct and the service was friendly, that also ads into the first star. The second star was all I could muster up for the food. I ordered teriyaki beef sticks. These were dominos sized pieces of cubed meat that had a beef jerky texture to them with what appeared to be a gelatinous form at a sad attempt of teriyaki sauce.. Fail I also ordered crab Rangoon.. I've never had a a crab Rangoon that was 90% fried dough.. Or noodle.. Or whatever the heck that soggy (supposed to be crunchy) part is... The filling was decent therefore contributing to the second " food star" ... Still a big fail The last thing I ordered was a general tsos chicken combo meal which comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll... Well get the egg roll out of the way and say YUCK... it was like a soggy egg roll filled with sauerkraut and no taste otherwise.. Worst egg roll ever. Fail. The rice was that "were to lazy to actually cook the Chinese cuisine we came here to cook for our patrons" kind of rice... Ya know that bland yellowed rice that has a few small pieces of mystery meat and scallions floating around in it... Yea fail.. Lastly the general tsos chicken... Dry. Tasteless (due to dry/no sauce). Recently, an employee of Lucky China stopped by my work to see if he could leave some menus. I just got over there today to check them out. It's located in a little plaza by Aldi on Silver Lane. The business was clean, and it looked as if they had put some work into it prior to moving in. The staff was friendly, and my food was ready when I walked in. I ordered the General Tso's Tofu. This came with a pint container of white rice. The Tofu was in a separate container with steamed broccoli. There was a ton of tofu in there. Honestly, it probably came close to a pound. Also, it was delicious. There was more broccoli than most places give you, the rice tasted like rice, and at $7 and change, the price was quite reasonable. Terrible food. Arrived very late, was cold, and vested horrible. The chicken fingers were rock hard, the crab Rangoon were greasy, and the shrimp roll, looked like it had been stepped on. They will return our money in "2,3 maybe 5 days". Will never go back there. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. The person who answered to take my order was rude, after I listed off my order he said, "Bye." Then just hung up. No eta, no read through of my order, nothing. Bf went to go pick it up, there were only three people working, one being specifically a delivery driver so that only left the order taker and one cook. The guy up front was incredibly rude to my boyfriend. He was playing games on his laptop and having a personal phone convo, leaving my boyfriend just standing there awkwardly. Got the food home and opened it hoping it'd at least be good. It was not. The eggrolls were soggy and undercooked, I had crunchy bites of carrot all throughout. The rice mushy and underseasoned, it had no taste. And the beef with broccoli we got was awful too. Undercooked, hard broccoli with soggy, undercooked, flavorless beef. The entire bottoms on the container were covered in about a quarter of an inch of oil. Just gross. Never again will I eat from here. read more

We used their online ordering on the way to my parents house. When we got there they said you ordered nothing and showed us a blank order form with our name and telephone number. I don't know why the order didn't go through and I really don't know why they DIDNT CALL US!!! They still could've had our order ready!! Ok, where to begin. I ordered sweet and sour chicken (i think) and the chicken chunks were all gristly and fatty. Didn't taste anything like chicken. The sauce it was in was hard and yuck. The egg rolls tasted like they were deep fried in week old oil and were bland. What? No hot mustard? Pork rice had no taste and there wasn't any pork in it. 1 star for the soda. I've been here about 5 times. First few times it was pretty good. They are fast and polite and price is average. Last two times I have been in there it smells like rotten fish. I said something to the boy working behind the counter and he said it was from the fish restaurant a couple doors down. I took him at his word but I went there again this weekend and gagged when I walked in the door to pick up my food. Odd thing is it doesn't smell outside at all near the fish place. My General Tsao's chicken was hard as a rock too and clearly not fresh. Most likely fried multiple times and it made it inedible. I threw it out after a few bites and won't be going back. read more

Best Chinese food ever. Wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant since the one i usually go to started to raise their prices and found this little place. Wish I knew about it earlier, prices are great and their portions are amazing. I love their boneless spare ribs and chicken wings. The owner (i believe) was very friendly and the service was quick. I was ordering food after work, which is close by, and it's on my way home. I ordered A LOT and the food was ready by the time i went to pick it up. My husband and I like to try a new dish almost every time we order and we have never been disappointed. But I always order the beef and broccoli, which is my favorite dish.
