I have been wanting to try Lucky Garden in Salem for a long time after reading all the reviews. I had the opportunity to go when visiting a friend, so we decided to go here. Glad we did! The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere is also good. Smaller place then I thought it would be. Parking could be a hassle. We all had something different. I had the sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. With pot stickers as an appetizer. My friends got the #9 and the tofu general tso. I got to try all the items and must say that I didn't have any that I didn't like. I am not a vegetarian, but I could definitely have the tofu general tso, because it is is firm fried tofu instead of the silken. The pot stickers looked like they were made from scratch and also they fried them instead of steaming and that bit of crunch was really nice. The taste was also very good. The chicken was extremely tender and flavorful. The bbq pork was also good and not like jerky like most places. The fried rice was also really good. Overall, great experience. I just tried to eat the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I ordered lunch right after they opened to make sure it was nice and fresh. I ordered it to be delivered to me at work through Grub Hub, and while the food was delivered quickly the meal was inedible. The crab puffs were burnt, old, smashed, and hard as rock. The Chow Mein was also old and dry and the meat in it stiff and dried up. It should have come with fried rice, but had a scoop of dried cold white rice instead. None of the food was hot, but barely warm. It came so quickly that I don't think the temperature was from being delivered. I believe it was packed for me from a warmer where it must have been from yesterday? I'm not even sure it would be safe to eat, even if it wasn't stiff and dried up. Luckily this place is super close to my house. The food is always hot and delicious. The service is quick. The servers are always really kind. Sometimes we even get freebies thrown in. You would t expect much it's kinda tucked away off a busy road, but it's so worth it! You get enough food for leftovers so it's a lot of bang for your buck. They also have a lot of options. We are new to Salem and heard good things about this place. It lived up to its reputation! We had to try a bunch of things: -Sesame beef, phenomenal -Sesame chicken, same -Orange chicken, same. A little spicy but not too much. -Pork fried rice was really really good too! The portions are HUGE. Our order gave us five full meals so be prepared for leftovers. However, the cashew chicken was not good and it's usually one of my favorite dishes. Their bbq sauce for the bbq pork was very watery. I go here often with my family and they have never disappointed on friendliness, big portions, and great tasting food. They are always pleasant and attentive. My kids love their bubble tea and complimentary hot tea. Although there is a lottery room in the back, with some questionable people sometimes, the restaurant is clean and the staff are always nice to everyone who walks through the door. This was our favorite place to eat but now they just are cheap on all of their dishes. The General Tsao's chicken did not have any chicken in it. They used to be large pieces of meat now it's just the batter. Also, the tofu was dry & over cooked. The broccoli was very small. We're sad, I am asking for my money back. This place has the best Chinese food in the Salem area. It's reasonably priced and is excellent. We had one of the specials, and the orange chicken. They both were fantastic. I don't normally like Chinese food, but this was different and we'll be back for more. Side note: There was a movie about Finding Jesus playing on the tv, was very random.
