LONG LINES! it's Saturday and only 2 lines are open here I am waiting in the long line with 6 large carts in front of me. I have two items an because one is a bottle of wine I can't go through self check out. The guy manning the self check out refused to ring up my two items at his register. I would definitely go out of my way to another lucky, this makes no sense! Finally another line opens and only to let a person with a basket full of groceries go before me, my bottle of wine and chicken salad. HORRIBLE!!! read more

Employees don't properly wear masks, over a million cases in California and nearly 20,000 deaths and this store is still struggling with a basic mask mandate. The signs don't mean anything if it's not being enforced! Not only are employees not properly wearing a mask but the don't enforce customers wearing a mask or social distance. There was an entire family not wearing masks today shopping freely. Masks work best against this virus when EVERYONE wears one. This is also mandated in contra costa county. Best. Grocery store. EVER. I love this place and I recommend it highly to anyone who lives in the area. I've been a regular patron for almost ten years. It's one of the few remaining businesses in Hercules that's any good. In my experience, this store is always clean. Things are arranged neatly. The produce is consistenly abundant and fresh. The self-check lanes are a godsend. The staff are, for the most part, helpful and friendly. Especially pleasant are Dawna, Linda, Gisenia, Maxine, and Rich. The only reason I give the Hercules Lucky four stars (instead of five) is because the music they play is really corny and often too loud. Beyond that, excellent store. read more

Honestly I am surprised that this store is still around. Very high prices and not thrilled about their produce section. I have not shopped at this store in over 10 years and when I stopped by today and saw their high prices I quickly remember why I don't shop here. I am sure not a fan of this Lucky's Supermarket because the staff at the deli seem rude by their body language and their gossiping among each other, especially when I as a customer just giving idea how to make more customers buy their foods. Shocking interaction around noonish today with old obese "customer service' clown standing watch over the self-service registers. I was struggling with the register. He didn't move from his standing position to assist me. I said its not clearing an item, he said yes it is and this went on longer than it should have; back and forth. He was clearly annoyed and indicated there may have been a racial component to attitude toward me by his gruffness, rudeness and snear. I left the items and walked out. Never again. The Lucky in Pinole is far superior to this one in Hercules. Shame on them for employing such a man. read more

I only come here because it is close to my house. I wish we had other grocery store options. I do not like Lucky's because the line is always long. I would use the self check out, but you can't use it with alcohol. The store could also be cleaner in general especially the bathroom. read more

Recenlty purchased my groceries here and checked the option for $40 cash back when using my ATM card. Unfortunately the cashier didn't give me the cash and I completely forgot about it until getting home SHAME ON ME (busy night at the grocery store so I don't blame the cashier and she was nice anyway). I called the next day and customer service told me when the book keeper would be in. Called during that time, gave the book keeper my transaction info, she checked the cameras and saw that I didn't get the $40. She had the $40 in an envelope and ready for me to pick up that day! Basically, I had a problem, everyone I talked to did their part to help me and it was all done in a timely manner. I expected the run around and a bunch hoops to jump through. I stop in here almost every day. It's your average grocery store taken for granted by people in more populated places ... but, out here, this is the best grocery store around. They hire friendly kids and professional adults, seem to have a good selection (though don't go looking for French champagne here), and I always get a good parking spot. Though I seem to get a good parking spot everywhere in this area. Wow, I'm still adjusting to life in the sticks. And adjusting to the fact that I actually like it! read more

Was here for a work event but decided to shop here as well. It's a clean store with a decent deli. Lines moved efficiently from what I saw though I decided to self check out. I saw they had some Filipino related items so it looks like they are catering to the local community a bit. That's a really nice touch that more supermarkets need to catch on to. I'm not a regular in this neighborhood but if I was I would certainly shop here again. read more

Prices are expensive, but if u need something quick its local and is stocked. People working at the bank are always helpful and nice. The chicken tenders from the deli used to be mediocre and dry but they've stepped it up, it's very juicy and good. I have to get some everytime I come in. Moved to Hercules earlier this year and had been avoiding Lucky's due to it's lackluster appearance, but decided to check it out last weekend. It's in sore need of an update, but I was shocked to find it stocked to the gills with a huge selection of everything from hard-to-find vegan meat substitutes/compostable sandwich baggies/organic produce to ube or avocado ice creams/frozen lumpia/imported fresh jackfruit and thai green papaya!! I'm blown away by the gamut of selection here- it's like a Ranch 99 and Whole Foods collided... but sorely needs an update. Are you feeling... Lucky? Not just to be clever, what i mean is that this supermarket is hit or miss, depending on who you get to help you around. But I will say, it is more HIT than miss. They do a good job keeping the shelves faced nicely, and their selection is good. The staff is friendly , welcoming & helpful at this location. Much more than what I can say Bout my local Luckys. The store is well kept & clean! One thing I noticed about this store was that it seemed like there were deals everywhere & on everything. I even came back a 2nd time the same day. My weakness was their summer blowout aisle. Other than that we were on the hunt for oysters & what do you know. We came across a fresh batch at the seafood counter at $.99 each. It's a typical supermarket. There's the meat section, produce, and dairy. This Lucky's is on the smaller end and therefore it doesn't have a lot of products. I've gone here in search of certain things, but they just don't carry it. I.e. Why can't you have tapatio? And why do you only have one kind of toilet paper? In terms of sales, there are lots of 2 of something for $____. However, this is a place to go out of convenience more than if you're looking for certain things. I've gone here many times just to get one ingredient, but not to cook a full meal. Nevertheless, the store is clean and open late if you want ice cream (which has a happened a lot). It's Lucky - what do you expect? It's your standard supermarket and I'm happy the Lucky name came back as I remember it as a kid growing up. I don't know, is it me or the lines in this store can get insane? Or maybe I'm too used to Trader Joe's? This is the only grocery store that I go to even if Safeway is right down the street from my house. They have friendly workers here and always have different sales through out the week. I really like their 5 for $25 meats which consist of steak, salmon, chicken, pork chops, fish, and shrimp! read more

This is not a gourmet grocery store. For what it is, Lucky's/Save Mart/Lucky, it is just fine. I come here for the Red Box, cold drinks and packaged foods. The produce department is small and uninspiring. They have a self-check area, which is a plus. read more

I don't know about this store. I only go to it because it's fairly close but make sure you check your receipt. The cashier scanned my yogurt twice and charged me twice. I just happen to see it while walking to the car so I went back to the store and told her she charged twice for it . A pack of yogurt is 5.99 and she didn't even apologize or anything and just opened her cash drawer and give me 2.50. I told her and showed her the receipt again and she went ahead and give me 6.00. I just felt that she didn't seem to care because she didn't even apologize at all. I thought she would need to redo the receipt or something not just open the cash drawer and give me the cash. Doesn't that mean she won't balance at end of day? Felt like either she did it on purpose or she didn't care either way. I felt an simple sorry should have be said at least... My review is for the pharmacy, if I could give negative stars I would. My wife and I have had nothing but problems with the every pharmacist except one Liz who they got rid of. We have be racially profiled, and profiled based on what medications we take. the current pharmacist refuses to fill our medications even when it is not early. They both change their rules on when medication can be filled. One week its two days early the next is one day early. They lie to your face, treat you bad, disrespect you, treat you like you are a criminal, and they are rude. I personally stopped going there because they are so unprofessional, but my wife and mother in law still takes their prescriptions there. Today they lied and said the doctor wrote a note on the proscription, we called the doctor and she said she did no such thing. She then couldn't make up her mind on when it could be filled. After admitting based on the doctors instructions my mother in law would be out of medication. They have the worst service I have every seen. I have changed to Walgreens and have no issues with getting my medications on the day my doctor writes the prescription which is every four weeks. read more

3 stars. Rotisserie chicken & their fried chicken is good. Very friendly deli staff consistently friendly. Front end checkers are OK, but the self checkout people are consistently non-communicative. No hello, no thank you and no goodbye. I heard 1 employee at self checkout tell a customer to read the screen. I get it, but don't say in a mean spirited way. Safeway is coming to Hercules next year so hopefully it will give this only market in this area some competition. We'll see read more

Hercules Luckys Grocery Store is like a small friendly home town store, but it has all the bells and whistles like the big stores do. Bill the manager will bend over backwards to get anything you need or want. When my mother passed he gave us papers so we could cut out the obituary. When we waited in line for a checker just a little longer than usual he gave us free ice cream. I would never go any where else because of the smiles and the attention I receive from my friendly neighborhood Luckys. All of this, and only 15 minutes away from San Francisco... I really only come here when I can't find what I am looking for at Safeway or when I need to make a cake order. This location is super large and it has a huge variety of items in all departments which is great so you don't have to make multiple trips to different stores. This store is a bit more pricer than other grocery stores which is why I don't come to often because you can find the same products for a lot cheaper. As far as ordering cakes here it is usually really quick and the staff are always friendly. They have a great selection of prices and decorations for the cake order and all kinds of fillings which is great. The staff here can be found easily throughout the store and can help you find whatever you are looking for. They also provide a self check out area which is great if you have few items and are in a rush to get out. They also have a private parking lot which is almost always empty. Glad to have this store nearby. read more

I moved into this neighborhood and chose Lucky's even tho the Safeway was closer to my home bc the Safeway looked run down and there are always boys loafing in the parking lot.. I stopped in there one day last week to get soda. I had my dog with me and didn't want to leave him in a hot car so I left the car running with the AC on and took my remote off the key ring, locked the door and went in to get my pop. Came out 5 minutes later and my remote did not work to open my car door! I went in the store and to the US Bank, which I'll not recommend either, and asked for a phone book. I stated that I had an emergency and had locked my dog in my car and the guy behind the counter laughed! So I walked away from him and found a Lucky employee, once again stated my issue and asked for help finding a phone book, she said no, I can't help you ask one of those ladies right there at the self check out stand; I asked the third person for a phone book, once again i was directed to yet another person. I went to the next person and was told no I am on my break! All told I spoke to 5 employees before finding one that did actually go into the office and dring me a phone book for Concord and Walnut creek. read more

This review is strictly for Mike who is a wonderful man working at the meat department. This gentleman greets people with a smile on, always making sure everyone is being helped, and just is a good soul. Recently my mother's chain (which was a very special gift given to her, no money can replace) was stuck and falling in the meat refrigerator, passing the metal. She thought ok it's gone. She's not getting it back. Well, lucky us! Mike was the man. He helped us out by taking care of the situation. With such work and such attention to detail, this man deserves to be a manager. What a horrible place to shop the cashier at the express checkout was more involved in dealing with her neighbor and the other cashier John jacking and laughing and couldn't help us clear the restaurant we were trying to check and then when she came over she was in such a hurry she didn't get it cleared out and left and then I had to call her back over again and she gave me attitude like it was my fault and I told her she had been John Jackie with her friends and done her job it with it she would've paid attention and cleared out the problem then we left and asked to speak to the manager and she gave us is lacks a days he'll added to smiling in her face like I'm going to make you mad and I'm just going to agree with you ha ha ha ha so calmly and I know she's not gonna do anything what a place to shop with your attitude a waste of time I would never shop there by anything from their horrible horrible customer service including the manager and the manager told me she heard everything will she didn't hear everything and she didn't see anything and she had the Addessi to give me attitude and when I told I was going to call corporate office she's like OK see you bye.
