I've been with Lucky Lucy's since 2021, when I adopted my first dog, Eisenhower. All of the walkers are fantastic; my dog is always happy to see them, and the walks are well-documented with photos and comments. On some of the negative reviews about difficulty scheduling -- I've never noticed anything out of the ordinary. Blizzard? Extreme cold? Sure, it's New England; things happen. In the rare occasion of a delay or cancellation (for me, only once or twice over the last 4 years?), it seems to be because the business cares about the well-being of their employees as much they do our pets. I've also done in-home and external boarding - it's like a mini summer camp for E, photos and updates come regularly, and he's always a little sad to come home. I've tried to work with other services (starts with R and ends with over) and LL's is 1000% better. read more

We used Lucky Lucy Pets for about a month before discovering unexpected charges on our first invoice. When I raised the concern, the owner told me it was my responsibility to have asked about these charges in advance, and the day after I raised concerns the company neglected our dog. Details follow. We have worked with two dog walking companies (as well as other services requiring access to our home), and have never been charged for picking up our house key. It was not until our first invoice, a month+ into using Lucky Lucy services, that we found we'd been charged $24 for the initial meeting and key pick up AND another $24 for a meeting we were offered about 1.5 weeks later, when a new walker was assigned to our dog (we declined a walk on both visits). (Note that the new assigned walker was incredible and someone we would absolutely hire outside of Lucky Lucy). If they want to charge for this time, that would have been fine, but they did not inform us beforehand nor give us the option of incurring the charge. When I emailed the owner, Stephanie, to inquire about the charges, she took zero accountability for the lack of communication about the fees, and she was immediately rude. Among other things, she told me it was my responsibility to ask and that "We can only communicate so much and default to our clients to ask questions of things they are not aware of the answer to." Why would a client think to ask if a company will charge money for a brief service that facilitates them to do their job? She also indicated I was wasting her time with back-and-forth emails to try to resolve the issue. The implication was that my time is not valuable, but hers is. After several emails and a lot of unnecessary attitude, she ultimately reimbursed only one of the two unexpected charges. Because she blamed me and offered no indication that she would try communicate better going forward, we could not stay with the company. I asked how much notice they require to cancel walks, and after multiple emails of more unnecessary rudeness, she finally answered that they require no notice. I then cancelled walks, in their online portal, after a two week grace period, which seemed only fair to the wonderful person who had been walking our dog. The next day, in the late afternoon, at the office, I logged into the system to see if our dog had been walked. To my surprise, the remaining walks that I had very clearly intentionally left on the schedule had been cancelled by Stephanie/the company, with no communication to let us know. This was incredibly unprofessional and amounts to animal neglect. Because we were not told his walks had been cancelled, and he was left indoors and alone in our house for 10 hours as a result. When I called (no answer) and emailed to inquire about the cancelled walks, thinking it was a mistake on their part, I, again, got no apologies. Instead, Stephanie came at me again with the client-blaming, trying to imply that I had indicated, in the previous day's exchange, that I wanted to immediately discontinue our walks. However, nowhere in our email exchange did I say that, and nowhere in her communication with me did she say they would be cancelling our walks on their end. My husband re-read the emails and confirmed this. I had hoped the response would be remorse and a promise to immediately go and relieve our dog. This is about as unprofessional as a dog walking company can get, and really worrisome that they have so little concern for the well-being of the dogs who've been under their care. I am sure she will respond to this review with deflecting of blame, as is clearly her style. The other negative reviews here all point to her character flaws, as well. Do not put your pets or your money in her trust. We know other dog walking companies in the area take customer service seriously--I encourage you to find them. read more

We had a consultation with one of the dog walkers, who seemed very nice, but it was my understanding she was coming at 11am - instead she showed up around noon. Apparently there is a two-hour timeframe they will come by, and I just wasn't made aware of this. Then I emailed the owner to say "yes, let's start the walks" and the only response I got was "a client passed away, so I'm going to mourn, but I'll be in touch tomorrow." Of course, I responded with sympathy and said I understand. The next day came and went without hearing from the owner. Today, TEN days later, I followed up again because I still have not heard from the owner ... I told her I unfortunately cannot trust Lucky Lucy's and will not be working with them in the future. We've been using Lucky Lucy's for about four years now. As my other reviews stated we began using them for our elderly rescue beagle until he passed away suddenly. They were amazingly kind and thoughtful during our grieving process. As soon as we found out we would be adopting a new pup I reached out to Stephanie and she was as always amazingly kind and helpful. They began service almost immediately and helped guide us to trainers and suggested harnesses to use and such. Scout is the polar opposite of sonny in almost every way. Scout couldn't be any quirkier and just a down right pain in the butt but Bijan has endless patience for him and I don't know if we would have been able to keep Scout without being able to rely on lucky Lucy's to walk him. Bijan works with us on any new training methods, gives insightful feedback and has been able to provide scout with socialization that he's never been able to successfully do. Lucky Lucy's is exactly what you want from dog walkers- they are dependable, our dog adores them and the business is run really well. We have been using them every weekday for years and we have literally never had a problem. We've had two regular walkers and a handful of subs. Everyone has been friendly, respectful of our home and great with our dog. Our dog has also stayed with two different walkers for in home boarding and he's always so happy we joke that we should let him have "sleepovers" more often! I've been using Lucky Lucy's services for over a year now for dog walking services. My work schedule is somewhat flexible in that I can stay home if a walk cannot be scheduled for that day, but I generally rely on Lucky Lucy walks for most workdays. Since I joined the clientele during COVID, the company was going through issues with understaffing and overdemand. This did yield some issues you might expect, like walks being canceled/not staffed due to lack of walkers and learning curves for some new walkers who were staffed. I know that this can be frustrating for people, and validly so, so this review is not to invalidate those feelings, though it does not always happen and if it does, you will usually have at least a few days notice if not more. I'm rating them five stars for a two main reasons: (1) Stephanie really cares that her clients are happy, the pets are well-taken care of, and her walkers go through a training process and probationary period, and (2) they utilize a very helpful online booking and journaling system that allows you to book walks/pet-sitting requests and for the walkers to leave journal notes and pictures from that day's walk. The first point is the most important--I left services like Rover because it was impersonal and random. Stephanie works to staff trained people for certain regions so that you tend you have the same one or two walkers who really get to know you and your dog. Since this is a small business that I think Stephanie runs solo, she really cares about the business and quality of care. Though she and her staff are stretched thin and sometimes you need to do your own outreach to double check if a walk is scheduled for that day or that week if the system is not updated, it does not bother me enough to be more than a minor inconvenience. I sympathize with the amount of work it is taking her to run the business and try to provide everyone with personalized service, so I think if you can have some grace and sympathy for some minor hiccups as with any small business (and dog walking services at that), you'll be lucky to be part of the crew. read more

I'm booking Anna Katherine and Stephanie for the 4th time this Christmas and am very confident that my cat will be just fine for the week I'm gone. Anna Katherine is diligent about reporting each visit: a photo along with a detailed chart of her behavior. She will water your plants, change the litter each day, do any complicated feeding schedule, and even brushes her each visit. She's also good with my cat. I can tell because when I come home, she is not showing all her signs of stress typical of me being away (even on 2 week departures!) I'm so thankful! I scheduled two catsitting consultation appointments and the owner Stephanie did not show up or contact me either time. The first time I emailed her to let her know, and she apologized several times and said that she had never confirmed the meeting so it didn't make it onto her calendar. I gave her the benefit of the doubt even though she had proposed a time and I said yes; I didn't think further confirmation was needed. The second time I made sure she confirmed the meeting again, and she still did not show up, email, or call. At this point, sadly I would not be able to trust her showing up to take care of my cats if she can't handle the scheduling of consultations. One missed appointment might have just been an error, but two is unacceptable. I see I'm not the only person this has happened to, either. I now need to find a new sitter and have lost several weeks trying to make something happen with Lucky Lucy's. You could say I wasn't very "lucky." read more

We've been clients of Lucky Lucy's since July 2018 and have nothing but praise for their services. Our regular walker is Jessica and our pup absolutely loves her. He actually sits by the door to wait for her on weekdays when we decide to stay home from work and don't need a walker. We've had Jessica walk our pup since day 1 and can't speak for the other walkers, but Jessica is wonderful and so patient with dogs, and we're lucky to get her! having read the various reviews on this company, which are on the far end of each spectrum, i had hoped i'd get lucky enough to get the 5-star treatment some report and have stephanie show up for the appointments i made with her. lucky lucy's must offer stellar service to the clients they actually serve, because if they treated their actual clients the way they treat prospective ones, they'd be long out of business. i made an appointment to see stephanie wednesday afternoon, and stayed home from work with my dogs to meet her. she cancelled due to a headache. understandable, it's allergy season. she thanked me for my flexibility and rescheduled for friday morning at 10am. at 958am, i received an email letting me know she'd had a family emergency, and unfortunately couldn't make it. again, i'd stayed home from work to meet her, and with two minutes notice she cancelled, by email no less, though she had my phone number. she said she'd have her office manager reach out to me. i said i'd need someone to come by this weekend, as i don't have more time to take away from work thanks to her running me around all week. i didn't hear from any office manager, but stephanie did finally respond today that in fact they're not taking new clients. this is information that would have been enormously helpful to know before i'd put this much time and energy into trying to meet her. so unless you've got time to spare and infinite patience for equivocation, go somewhere else. these jokers need to get it together. read more

I have been having the worst luck with dog sitters! I was so excited to find Lucky Lucy's to help with my future travel plans. I felt like it was a trustworthy company I could feel comfortable with them staying at my house and especially the reviews looked promising! I emailed and they responded fairly quickly, saying I could schedule a 30 min phone consultation for new clients. My consultation was yesterday at 11:30....I waited by my phone for 10 minutes, & never received a call. I decided to give the main number a call and no one answered. I followed up by email and about 28 hours after my scheduled appointment, I have still not heard a peep. Stephanie is such a delight to speak with, is professional, nurturing towards our dog, Harper, and just an awesome person. We have a rescue pup who was abused really badly. Stephanie replied to my initial review claiming she emailed me and didn't receive a reply, and saying I'm just disappointed the appointment was canceled - which is not the case. In reality, there was nothing to reply to her in email that came after the fact. There was no attempt to reschedule. In realiry, I'm disappointed at how little respect and courtesy we were shown as potential clients who confirmed this appointment weeks ago. I'm disappointed she didn't bother showing up despite my efforts to line up a reliable service for my dog well in advance. Stephanie failed to mention in her reply to my review that her email came the day after she didn't show up to our consult, with no offer to reschedule or any acknowledgement of her unprofessionalism. She blamed bad service and a co-called emergency. I'd believe her excuse if it weren't for multiple other reviewers posting about having the same experience with her not showing up to appointments. After posting proof of her admitting she never actually cancelled in advance, she has since changed her reply to something that doesn't address any of her behavior or actions and is pure nonsense about the quality of service provided only to "current" clients and wishing me luck in my future endeavors. I have moved to a different country and had a common mistake on my original payment (in personal check form). After this incident, Stephanie became cold, unkind and inflexible to my situation, adding more and more unwarranted costs to my payment because of her inflexibility and lack of insight on other payment options. We have been part of the Lucky Lucy's family for nearly six years. When I say family, I mean family. Our dogs are our children and the staff cares for them as if they were their own. I cannot say enough about Jessica who greets my dogs each day with hugs and kisses. I often hear from my neighbors how amazing Jessica is with our dogs, whether she's walking them or hanging out in the yard with our senior dogs, the neighbors can hear how sweet Jessica is speaking to them and how great the dogs respond to her. Lucky Lucy's owner, Stephanie, has help us grieve the passing of two of our pugs and also helped us to welcome new fosters and forever dogs into our family. My wife and I have felt so lucky to have found Lucky Lucy's for out dog, Moxie. Our dog has bad dog reactivity and we tried a few dog walkers who didn't work out before finding Lucky Lucy's. Our dog walker, Chip, has been absolutely AMAZING with our dog and we're always confident that Chip will provide our dog with excellent care. We were worried that any dog walker would have a difficult time managing Moxie on walks, but Chip does extremely well with her reactivity. Chip also does in-home boarding for Moxie and it provides a huge piece of mind that we never have to worry about how our dog is doing when we're away. We also recently had a baby and Stephanie and her team were unbelievable in the flexibility and responsiveness with last minute scheduling during this process. We have been using Lucky Lucy's for over a year, and have nothing but great things to say about the company, Gina, Stephanie and crew. They truly care about their clients and furry friends. The scheduling, billing, and service is outstanding. The online portal makes things so easy, and each walk is followed up by a digital recap (sometimes including adorable photos.) We pay through Venmo, which is incredibly convenient, but traditional payment methods are also accepted. LLP always tries to keep additions and adjustments to your schedule with the same person. If they cannot, they introduce who will be coming and confirm that this is OK. Gina has been walking our buddy Oso consistently since we started. When we travel, he has been able to stay with her, which is so comforting as an owner. She drops us a note if she notices anything out of sorts with him during their time together. I know that Oso is part of Gina's family, and I see that reflected in her care. Oso was in treatment for Heart-worm for a five month period and the team at LLP was accommodating and thoughtful about adjustments to his care and his progress. The on-boarding process was THOROUGH, and others have noted that it takes time to get through this stage due to availability of Stephanie. The necessity of this meeting was trivial at first, but really set the stage for the level of care and thoughtful interactions we now know to expect from them! LLP is a small biz and run with care-first mentality. The standard of care this company provides is HIGH, and as the owner, Stephanie is the one to vet that you and your pet's needs can be met by them. I can promise you that once this step is passed, it's smooth sailing. We are going to miss the excellent care Oso has had once we move across the country. The bar has been set HIGH by Lucky Lucy's. I really can't say enough good things about Lucky Lucy's Pets. I'd like to tell people that I'm not a crazy dog person...but there are plenty of people who would tell you otherwise. When I moved to the area, I was dreading trying to find a dog walker and for someone to help out for those nights when I'm out of town. It's hard finding people you can trust and people who are reliable. I looked into several companies locally that had some walking and overnight services, but they only offered somewhat inflexible packages. Most of the packages that I saw required my pup to be enrolled in a company's daily daycare before they would consider overnight stays...then I stumbled on Lucky Lucy's Pets. I promptly contacted them and arranged for someone from Lucky Lucy's to come over, see my home, and meet my pup. Immediately after walking in the door, Duncan, my dog, raced over to Stephanie from Lucky Lucy's Pets and started kissing her--granted, he loves all people and I'm sure he smelled tons of other dogs on her...but I took it as a sign. She was great with him and we set up a walk later that week to test the waters. Everything went great on the walk, and I loved that she left a note about the walk and even sent an email with pictures! I am not very trusting with my dog. Even though my mother and sister offered to watch my French Bulldog / Boston Terrier mix Olive while I was away, I was still nervous about it. I'm the type that has a 4 page care sheet for my dog that covers not just feeding schedules, allergies, etc. but every possible scenario I can think of. And with the summer being as brutally hot as it has been, she runs the risk of heat stroke. I thought it would be better to have a professional watch her while I was away. Stephanie is a friend and Olive had been to her house for a social event prior. Seeing how much she liked Stephanie and how comfortable she was at her house, I decided leaving Olive in Stephanie's care was the best option while I was away. Best decision ever. I got regular updates while I was away. Olive had made dog friends! She didn't do her usual non-eating thing that she does when her environment changes! She was having a blast! Stephanie had even cleaned her face wrinkles. I could see it on her little doggie face, she was happy and relaxed. When I picked her up, she didn't really want to leave, which is also unusual. I almost felt bad taking her home! If you have a "smooshed face" dog breed, I'd highly recommend Stephanie. She knows their limitations and needs and their special little quirks.
