We got our puppy Harry when he was eight weeks old. When he was ten weeks he started getting walks by Neighborhood Paws. He's now six months old and everything has worked out perfectly. They're really easy to deal with and communicate really well. Schedule changes are not a problem. We get text updates after each walk with a little feedback about Harry's development and behavior. We also get a lot of pointers regarding how to deal with certain behaviors. They're not just walking him passively, they're engaging and training him at the same time. The training we do with him is really reinforced by Jordan, Kerry and Melissa and their walks with him and his playgroup. We feel completely secure in leaving Harry with them and he really seems genuinely happy in their company. This service could not have worked out better for us. This year I power leveled my yuppie-hood and hired a dog walker. My dog, Boris, is a football shaped, farty Boston Terrier, and has been a source of unending amusement, companionship, and sulfur-scented affection for 8 years. Though he has lived with other dogs in the past, the only company Boris has when we are out of the house are 2 cats that provide minimal entertainment, and simply do not understand his canine needs. In order for him to have dog to dog socialization, we started looking for a dog walker. Enter Neighborhood Paws. This is exactly the kind of business I want to support. Jordan and the Neighborhood Paws crew are friendly, accommodating, and best of all, bonded. Jordan came over to meet the little man, and in the half hour she was there, managed to gain not only the affection of my puppy (he's an easy mark), but also managed to coax my two felines out of the woodwork and onto her lap. Jordan has been taking Boris to play groups for a couple of months now, and he comes back absolutely exhausted. We receive pictures and Facebook updates that prove just how much fun he is having. When we first got our puppy, my g/f was unemployed and had the time to take him to the dog park for some daily exercise. Fortunately, she got a job (well, I think both she and our dog would be happier if she were home but...). Unfortunately, we needed to figure out what to do with the pooch. Fortunately, g/f met plenty of the awesome dog walkers at the dog park. Unfortunately, they were all nice and good with the dogs so it was a tough decision. Fortunately, g/f said she felt really good about Kara and Jordan at Neighborhood Paws. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'd ever have enough time or wide enough vocabulary to fully express how wonderful they are! Kara and Jordan will treat your dog as though he/she is one of their own. They really and truly care about all of their charges. A few choice examples of Kara and Jordan's awesomeness: When our pup was in a bit of a funk (not just with them but in general) they noticed and e-mailed us and then actually researched on their own possible causes and solutions. They regularly spend more time at the dog park with the dogs than they are required to (and don't charge extra). They send picture texts of your pup at play during the day. They are extremely affordable and flexible. I really could go one more, but I think you get the idea. I cannot say enough good things about Neighborhood Paws. Nirvana was very professional when she came to do the introductory visit. We have a very timid rescue dog and they were able to work wonders with her during her walks and park days. Our dog, Charlie, was able to become more desensitized to strangers and car rides (previously our dog started to shake and get sick in the car every time we took her out, but now she hops right into the car). She is even way better with her recall at the dog parks! Neighborhood Paws was very professional, flexible and easy to work with on scheduling, and paying is a breeze. Jordan, Kara, Griffin, and Digby are the BEST. Every single one of the previous reviews are accurate - Griffy and I have been so blessed to benefit from their services while living in Somerville. There has never been any doubt in my mind that Kara and Jordan weren't looking after Griffy as if he were theirs, and as someone that is obsessed with their dog, this brings a peace of mind I don't often find. Always passionate, they strictly use positive reinforcement with all dogs so you never have to worry that your dog is being mistreated. Jordan and Kara are a dog owners dream! I can't recommend them highly enough! They are extremely responsible, trust worthy and are great with dogs, especially my over sized (and sometimes unruly) Boxer/Great Pyrenees mix named Charlie. They were referred to me by another dog walker in Somerville who wasn't able to take any more clients. Within 5 minutes of meeting Charlie, Jordan was on the floor rubbing his belly and I knew they were perfect fit for us! It was really important for us to have Charlie be socialized with other dogs. Charlie has fit into a great play group and is learning his doggie manners. Jordan is fantastic about updating you on how your pup is doing, good or bad, and suggests way to remedy the bad behavior. I have nothing but praise for both of them, they have a real gift with dogs. I grew up with dogs but this is my first dog as an adult so it's great to have additional doggie resources to help with understanding doggie behavior! We have also had them dog sit Charlie and they did a fantastic job. After a rather scary dog sitting experience over Christmas we were really hesitant to trust our puppy with someone overnight for multiple nights but when we got home he was super happy and tired, just how you want your dog to be. I searched for weeks looking for an activity for my hound puppy that would give him a weekly kick of extra socialization with other dogs in a safe, supervised environment. I was less interested in standard solo-dog walking services or indoor daycares and wanted to find something that focused more on dogs playing and hanging out together while also getting to be outside in nature! I was really excited to find NP! Jordan & Nirvana instantly made us feel comfortable taking our little guy out on the town. They are super knowledgable about all dogs, they always take the time to send us photos of their adventures, and it's clear they love what they do! After a walk or playgroup, our pup falls asleep so fast that we don't even have time to take the leash off! He's only been going for a few weeks so far, but the NP team is so great at reinforcing our existing training plan that I can see clear progress just from his time with them (particularly with car rides and walking using a harness). Rude, plain and simple. I wouldn't want Nirvana or her team near my dog after our email communications. I can only imagine how she treats animals based on how she treated me as a prospective client. She repeatedly refused to answer a very simple question about service availability over several exchanges but wanted information on my dog that I quickly provided. I was essentially told to stop bothering her after my 2nd email follow up because she's away at a conference. If you have time to tell me to back off and wait until you're back in town to answer a "yes" or "no" question, you probably have time to answer that same question. Why would I wait if you're NOT available? Instead of being a professional with an out of office reply or the courtesy to use the "out of town" excuse in her first email, she has now deemed me and my dog "not a fit" for her service. Nirvana, you're not a fit for a role in customer service. Communication skills matter when it comes to taking care of the pets we leave in your care. You should know that by now. read more

Jordan and her amazing crew have exceeded my expectations. I reached out to NP so my pup could have some socialization since she was a little iffy with other dogs. I used NP for about a year and she went on group walks twice a week. I work a wacky schedule so I would be home some days when they would come and walk her. The amount of excitement she would have waiting by the door for them to pick her up just put the biggest smile on my face! I noticed a huge difference in her behavior, they work miracles and genuinely care about the dogs they're walking. My dog is my child and when I find a team like Jordan's that puts as much love and care into their clients as I would my own pup, it is really amazing. They are trustworthy, caring and attentive. After our dog walker Kris moved away, we found Jordan and Kara. They have been taking care of Benson and he just loves and adores them. They are amazing with him. He comes back home after a day with them happy and often has crazy dreams at night where he is chasing, running, barking - probably re-living his day with them. Since Benson is allergic to wheat, they made him gluten free cookies which he absolutely loved. They are very thoughtful in that way. Recently, we went away for 6 days and Benson came back home as though he never missed us, that is a true statement from a dog of being loved. I am really glad that we found them. Knowing that Benson is very well taken care of makes me quite relaxed on the days that i work late or while traveling. He goes with them twice a week and would probably like to go more than that. They are reasonably priced as well - they are well worth more than what we pay them. They leave notes about his day and send pictures of him as well. Neighborhood Paws is as good as it gets. We rescued our 5 year old chocolate lab, Richmond, about 2 years ago and he's been with Neighborhood Paws for almost a year. He's pure joy, but is a bit needy. He's got some serious separation anxiety and is crated for the work day. We contacted Neighborhood Paws and they were happy to help. Jordan came to our home for a meet and greet and instantly won our trust, as well as our pup's. After a few months in the play group, Jordan noticed that Richmond's anxiety was increasing and contacted us with examples and suggestions. She was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. It turned out that his nerves got the best of him and the play group was too much for him, but Jordan has continued to walk him 3 times a week. She also suggested that we speak with our vet about medication, which we have and has made a HUGE difference. During this time, she's worked with him on some training during her walks, and has even had him spend time with her own dogs to work on his anxiety and socialization. We, like a lot of owners, treat our dog like a family member. There is no one I would trust more with Richmond than Jordan and her team. read more

I would not use this company for their services. Clearly my review was pushed under the rug but I feel its important to be heard. I was truely offended and upset when one day I was at the community dog park with my 6 month old pup and one of her dogs attacked him. When I ran over upset she said " he was annoying everyone he deserved it" Offended I left. I thought dogs of all ages where meant to enjoy the park, and all people of the neighborhood. I do admit my little guy can be a pest but it was totally nasty of her to say that/ not even be apologetic. I know its tough to get out with your dog but I wouldnt trust her to take my dog let alone pay for such a service! These comanpies ruin the community space for everyone by having too many dogs out of control, dirting it up and not caring less bc these arnt their pets or their town. Just something to think about before you get into something not good for your own dog. read more

I cannot say enough about how amazing Jordan and Kara are. They have been helping take care of our chocolate lab since we first brought him home at 8 weeks a year ago and are the only people we would trust to take care of him. Going to the park with them is so much more than play time. They take so much care to make sure the dogs are socialized well, work on training with them and provide them with so much love and lots of belly rubs. When Rip has minor health issues Jordan is my first call as she is a wealth of knowledge on holistic remedies that always work. When it was hot this summer, she brought ice cubes to the park to keep the pups cool. She sends pictures and updates from the park so we know what Rip is up to. They simply go above and beyond over and over. I could not imagine not having them as part of our lives. They have been absolutely incredible! Jordan and her team clearly love and care about our dog and go above and beyond to make sure he has a good experience on his walks. Jordan is a great communicator and has been very accommodating about schedule changes. Our pup has been having a hard time for the last few months as he adjusts to living with a new baby, and Jordan has been an amazing resource, working with him to help him be comfortable on walks and providing us with lots of tips and suggestions to help improve his behavior.
