Came here with a large group of people for a friend's going away party. Called in advance and had a table in the back reserved for us. The outside is a little tight and a little buggy, but it's an extremely chill spot to hang out with some friends. They don't have any food here, but you are welcome to bring food/ have food delivered to the restaurant and eat it in the back. The drinks here are pretty cheap, especially for happy hour - where you're getting a 2 for 1 deal. You get a drink token that you can redeem for another equivalent drink (if you're nice, even past happy hour). The inside is also a little tight, but pretty nice. Everyone here seems extremely friendly and inviting. They even have the cutest dog that patrols the bar that you're free to play with. Awesome place to hang out for a chill time. Nice bar that can appeal to all types. The other night, I had a blast here. There a nice selection of beers and the bartender (I am drawing a blank on her name at the moment) has a nice pour for the liquors. Also, she is really nice and inviting. The only annoying thing, which manager and bartenders cannot control, is that the front of the bar very tight/cramped, which may be annoying on busy nights. Walked in here when we got tired fifteen minutes into SantaCon and was welcomed with open arms by Abby. Nice little dive bar in East Village to get away from the hecticness of everything around and had great beer & shot specials (Lone Star & Voda for $8 or Genessee & Shot for $7). This place was HORRIBLE. Went in for one drink with a couple friends. Told the bartender I wanted to close my card out and she yelled and would not let me close my card out. I told her we're just here for one drink but she kept saying "when someone ask you if you want to open a tab you keep it open". I really told her we are here for one round. Worst bar I've ever been to. Ever. Maybe there is something that folks like about the rude bartender yelling at people that gives this place such good ratings. Authentic ambiance? If you're looking for a hip community bar where bartenders treat you terribly as part of the experience, then this is your place. I went in for a drink with my friend, my friend went up to the bar to order the drinks, and he asked to close out his card, as we intended to hop over to another bar afterwards. She then yelled at him, saying that the answer is always yes when someone asks you if you want to keep the tab open. After he tried to tell her that we were only staying for a round, she left with his card and wouldn't return it to him, betting $100 that he would come back to order another round. We definitely didn't plan on staying after that. She then became upset when we did as we said we were going to do, and called my friend a douche for closing out the tab. One of the best new (upscale) dive bars to break ground in Lower Manhattan since I moved here six years ago. Lucky is more than a bar, it's community. Abby (owner) is a fixture in the neighborhood, and it's almost like you're hanging out in her private clubhouse more than simply paying a bartender for a beer and a shot. Great vibes and interesting people abound, many of whom happen to be Burners. I'm not one to ride a dusty bike around the playa, but if that's your bag, you'll find your people here. If you want to break out of your comfort zone, get a shot of whiskey with an A1 steak sauce chaser. Will it dethrone the pickle back as the current king of NYC shots? I have never been upset enough at an establishment to leave a bad review in my 9 years of living in New York. If I ever want to feel horrible without even opening my mouth, I'd go back to this bar. I came here on a monday night with a couple of my friends who are visiting me in the city. Since they are here for a limited time, it ended up being a day full of activities and obviously a lot of walking. We were exhausted and all we wanted was to find a bar with a patio so we could drink outdoors. I knew this bar had one so we strolled inside and slowly walked towards the back to check it out. (We were very tired at this point and probably looked like it) First, a woman who could be the bar owner told us the backyard is closed hence the lights being off she says. There is a small window on the door that leads to the back and she made me feel like i was being an idiot for not noticing the lights were off through this window and for ever trying to go back. I thought maybe i was reading too much into it though. We started to leave because we didn't want to sit inside and the bartender tells his regular customers loudly "how did i know this was going to happen?". As in he guessed we weren't going to stay, which i don't know why would matter because they all acted like we were interrupting a private gathering. As my friend was trying to push the door to leave, the bartender says "the other door please" in a very rude manner and then goes "and don't come back please!" At this point I was just shocked and embarrassed I ever brought my guests inside. We didn't even say anything the entire time we were inside which is about 2 minutes. It made me wonder if they just don't like the look of foreigners. read more

To me this is a dive bar and it is not a dive bar, if you know what I mean. I think it is a cool spot, very narrow pathway to the back and patio area but that is where the fun was. I don't complain too much about being bumped there is a small path and room to go north to south just how it is. If you are wearing a backpack, there will be problems in trying to get by, that I can tell you. The patio was awesome, nice to enjoy the nice August weather in the backyard. I really enjoyed my time here. The beer was great and there were some great specials on the happy hour. Frozen lemonade with vodka flavor was amazing also actually, better than I thought honestly. I don't mind navigating my way through a bar, I never like to stay in one place too long and I did just that managed to stand all over in various places of the bar. Welcome to the 'hood! Popped into Lucky on Saturday around midnight for a few drank and was super happy with what I saw. A no-frills spot with a local feel, friendly 'tender (if you're not a d!ck), and an outdoor area that has potential (it was too cold to make use of it that night). All your favorite drinks are around, as well as whisky/beer combo specials, even at that time on a Saturday. Love it. Double bonus points for a jukebox that rocks CD's and is typically playing some great tunes (until Ruggy starts to troll). If you know me, you know this is what I look for in a bar. A place for conversation, solid drinks and not pretentious in the least. Will be back! Bonus: shot of whiskey (get an A1 chaser) with Yelp Check-In Protip: Don't walk into ANY bar and ask to charge your phone... using their cord... and not even attempt buy a drink. Not good, man. I was having such a great time at Lucky's when I visited for the first time on 03/20/2021, however, the Bartender during my time ruined my night completely! While closing out my tab for a large group the bartender asked me aggressively, "So you're not going to tip???!!?" When I tried to explain to the bartender that my tab isn't solely just me and has many people on it which is why I wouldn't be able to tip he proceeded to curse me out and say "This is some bullshit. GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with such a loud demeaning voice that made heads turn. I was so embarrassed, aggravated and livid at this encounter. I've never been spoken to with such demeanor before. I would like to add that amidst this ongoing pandemic the bartender did not bother to wear gloves while making our drinks, or even wipe down counters or change out cups when requesting new drinks. This completely unacceptable and unhygienic considering. A couple days later, the owner of this bar had the audacity to call us and demand a tip for her bartender even after knowing his rude behavior that was exhibited towards us. I will make sure to never step foot in this bar again and will advise all my friends not to bring any business to this place. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

I've come here a few times and always enjoyed myself. The owner and the staff are super friendly and they have a full bar to get your booze on. They also have a pretty good selection of beers. I came here for a yelp event on a Monday night, so aside from fellow Yelp Elitists, the place was relatively empty. The inside bar are is quite small, but it has an open feel to it as the front opens up to the sidewalk and the back opens to a small yard. It can get pretty hot, as AC isn't running but you forget about that as you cool down with your beverage. Service was friendly and the place was very clean. Even the bathroom, which is a huge plus. Definitely recommend if in area and just feel like hanging out and not going anywhere pretentious. read more

Oh no, it's a Burner bar! On one of the event listings on their site they write, "Think it's lame but most of your friends are Burners? Come!" As someone who is dating a Burner and has found increasing amounts of feathers, glitter, and other nonsense in her life I can say that's pretty much the camp I fall into. I popped in briefly before but this weeks Onesie party was my first time staying for actual drinks (I did not come in costume, for the record). Obviously, everyone here is ridiculously friendly, from the bartenders to the patrons. The backyard is beautiful. Great jukebox. Specialty cocktails. Mezcal. At least one pirate bartender. They have Rum Chata and Abita Purple Haze, which I love. You can't get much more laid back and down to earth than this place. read more

Needed a drink and little peace and quiet while visiting my parents. Came during off hours on a Monday which I prefer when there are less people. Standard no frills LES bar, has all the basics you need and an outdoor back patio area. Bartender/owner Abby was respectful and very nice in my opinion which is contrary to some of these other reviews. I grew up in the area and appreciate a good dive bar. They seem to have theme nights as well for those looking for more than just a few drinks as well. Prices are fair considering the increases in prices everywhere in this area. read more

Recently opened by the lovely Abby, if you're lucky she'll be the one a'pourin' the drinks when you stop in. All kinds of activities happen here, and you'll no doubt stumble upon something fun...pumpkin carving around Halloween, being a stop on the NY equivalent of the Xtra Action Marching Band pub crawl...expect the unexpected and settle in for a while. We love LUCKY Bar! when we went to NYC for a few days during fashion week covering Patricia Field Art Fashion...We were lucky enough to have time to catch a gorgeous tasting hard apple cider, before getting on the plane because luckily Lucky opens early...owner Abby who is a genius bartender is a longtime friend and worked at the well known night club Jackie 60 the best downtown club in the center of the meat packing district. Jackie 60 was an ultra high camp art performance dance club, with the house of domination go go dancing sensually to the weekly theme parties and many underground club goers on the scene would go religiously every Tuesday night including my partner and I, this was in the 90's and early 2000's, when the area was still gritty, not overdeveloped and the smell in the streets prevailed from whole slabs of meat hanging on the hooks and also hookers as pretty as can be hanging and waiting on 14th street, the girls, actually made you feel safe as you walked to the subway at 3:30 in the morning...Back to 2016 and Abby's Bar Lucky which is the lower east side of NYC is exactly how Bars should be like which transforms you back to a more neighborhood bar version of the Jackie 60 days comfortable, edgy, down to earth, cozy, hip, unpretentious, great vibes, outdoor lounge and a custom Jukebox with tracks from well known DJ royalties Johnny Dynell one of the founders of Jackie 60, Michael T., Sammy Jo, Load Rezenhand, Howie Pyro and House of D Althea Loveless. He refused to make us the specialty glitter shots because they were "too much work." He straight up ignored anyone with me after that, refused to make or give us anything, and when we decided not to tip him because of this, he came out and yelled at us. An absolute dick. He refused to make the house specialty shot because it was "too difficult to make" and upright refused to serve a member of our party who was completely sober. I just realized I've never reviewed this place! Our activist group, Gays Against Guns, uses the back patio area, which is super big and lovely in the warmer weather, for our spray paint parties. Abby, the owner, supports us and let's us use the space, which is so generous considering it's NYC. We have a great time. Drinks are cheap. The bloody Mary's are phenomenal! No food, but they let you bring stuff in. It's a real NYC dive bar with great vibes and good music. I'm excited to head back there today! read more

It's a nice bar and good atmosphere. However, two different bartenders were weirdly aggressive and rude to me when I chose to pay with credit card. They are using square with a mobile phone, which is glitchy and seems to be annoying for them to use, but that's not my problem as a customer. Everything about this place was good. It was a beautiful springlike day so when my buddy and I saw that they had a back garden we had to go. It was Saturday afternoon and, though busy, the bartender was all class. Efficient but pleasant and professional server. The jukebox looked like the person who stocked it wanted to prove how much they knew about music. But that's not a bad thing.
