My wife and I had the pleasure of shopping at Lucky Road Run Shop. We are both very active in running, hiking, rucking, and walking. It turns out, the owners of the store are too. The owners of the store are on sight and, you better believe, you get professional attention when you walk in. The husband and wife team are both ultra-marathoners and walkers. They know their product line. (FYI- they don't carry Nike because Nike wanted to dictate how its shoes would be displayed and other brands that their store could display). "F" Nike. Shopping there is such a huge change from shopping at large box stores. Unlike the unexperienced, disinterested, THC laced, cardiologically challenged, pre-adult cookies that work at the big box stores, the people who sold us our shoes, had "been there." They had come back from injuries, they had run ultra-marathons, they knew the local trails, they knew the strengths and weaknesses of each product and they listened, listened and listened. If you are serious about maximizing your performance, avoiding injuries and getting the best shoe for your exercise style, please drop into this place. If you are interested in getting the most fashionable Nikes for your sedentary lifestyle, please go to a store like Dick's where you can get a good deal on a pair of shoes that you don't need sold to you by an employee who has never had their heartbeat above 70 beats per minute. read more

I am very pleased with the customer service I was given. Staff member Brandon offered to stay open late to help me so I made the trip. I had to have a wider shoe I was having a problem with one of my little toes. So he recommended extra wide shoes which helped a lot also some glove socks that were well worth it to relieve the pain. This is going to be a little wordy. The conclusion is I would give this place a shot because there are some rockstar employees who do truly care and have great information. However, I would be careful to purchase if you are not entirely sure or if it's a new shoe brand or style for you. I say this based on my own experience and the fact that several of the shoe brands they cary have top notch return policies that are not mimicked by the owner of the store. Brooks specifically will back you up if the place you purchase from won't accept a return. A few weeks ago I entered Lucky road run shop in hopes to support local and was blown away by the kindness and knowledge of the employee who spent so much time listening and understanding my wants and needs. I ended up purchasing a shoe but wasn't crazy about the color. But that was the only color they had and I didn't know at the time there was an option to order another. Once I got them home I realized the color really did bother me. I'm a mom with toddlers and these had lots of white ... white and toddlers what was I thinking, if you know you know :). But in store they felt so good so I had overlooked the color. The next day I called and was greeted by another very friendly employee. I had told them I had just purchased the shoe and was having second thoughts about the color but wasn't sure if I could return. He said that they give 45 days for returns and exchanges and that they want their customers to be happy so he offered to order another color for me that they didn't have. He even went over the colors on the phone and was so patient. He had said because I had just purchased them he was also happy to give my money back but would love to order a color I would enjoy more. I went into the store and that same employee I had talked to on the phone was there. He gladly took the pair I originally ordered with no questions just complete understanding and ordered a new color through Brooks and even had them shipped to my house. I thanked him and he said "absolutely anytime." It was so pain free and honestly made me fall in love with this locally owned company. It took about a week for the shoe to arrive and when I tried them on the right foot fit differently than the left. It triggered tingling in my right foot and put pressure that was not comfortable, a feeling I sometimes experience from a shoe being too tight. Different feeling than the first pair I had purchased and exchanged. So I went into the store to return. My plan was to return and when I had more time go back and find a better fit or see if they had the shoe in the next size. When I got there I was greeted by the original employee I had purchased from. He listened and wanted to get the owner to see if he could help and figure out why my foot was bothering me. I didn't have much time but was willing to talk it over. The owner then came out and didn't have the same demeanor as the other employees. He seemed annoyed after listening to why I was there and his exact words were " I am not in the return business." Those words would speak differently to me if he said "we are not in the return business, we're in the returning customers business and we want to help you find what works best for you, let's evaluate a few things." But thats not the tone of what he said. It was pretty much if there is no defect no injury then no return. I had told him my right foot was tingling and didn't do that with the other pair. Was that a defect? Was the right shoe indeed just smaller ..I don't know. And I shouldn't have to figure that out. Unfortunately, it just felt like I didn't have room to talk or share, I didn't even get to share my whole story because after him saying over and over "I'm not in the return business" I shut down and said next time I will purchase directly from the manufacturer ....and left. The truth is I wasn't trying to JUST get my money back, I was going to purchase again in the future and I didn't go in there with attitude. I went in there with limited time thinking it was okay to return (based on previous information) and decide later. I left feeling as if I had to defend myself and with a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm hoping it was a misunderstanding and that's not how he normally treats customers. read more

" The fact that Jeff, the owner feels that is is not only appropriate to refer to a customer as having a "tantrum" in the store is a direct reflection of his attitude toward his customers and the level of service he provides. Buyer beware of any store who does not give refunds only store credit. While Jeff may make complaints about my commenting on his store on social media then he should remove his business from all social media sites. The hypocrisy is hilarious, Jeff only wants to use social media to further his business and show positive comments, sorry buddy it doesn't work like that. Lucky Foot has an awesome, attentive staff. I have been to other running stores and Lucky Foot's customer service is hands down the best. After analyzing my gait, we picked out every possible shoe that would work for me. I tried on every shoe I could- and then waffled for about 10 minutes. I was offered nothing but patience and kindness. My friend and I- while checking out- complained about having to come south of the River. We confessed that we had even avoided tolls. This is my third time, I frequent every one to two years for a top of the line running shoe. On this visit I felt discriminated in stature very different from my first initial two visit, I was ready and willing to pay for a top of the line running shoes. Troy perfunctorily taken steps to ask questions concerning my shoe requirements then led me to the "on sale" table of running shoes, after I just told him I am looking for the top of the line shoe. I finally got the shoe I like which Troy gave to me and disappeared then I put it on and walk and run to test it. Very honest and reliable bunch. They found a good shoe for my daughter who has over pronated feet. She is now able to run without pain.

Lucky Foot often provides gift certificates to local races for use as giveaways or as awards to participants. A recent race was advertised as having significant prize money for overall winners that came in the form of several Lucky Foot gift certificates of smaller increments. When attempting to redeem, the store claimed they would not honor them as the race director incorrectly combined them when awarding participants instead of giving away much smaller amounts individually. Obviously Lucky Foot would have preferred the latter as that would have resulted in much more store traffic and purchases, I don't dispute their intention. But how they handled it is simply NOT the way to conduct a business. When someone travels from far away after another award recipient was able to redeem their certificates successfully, they do not deserve to be told there is no way the store could honor them entirely. YOU GAVE THEM OUT. It's not like they're counterfeit. You expected them to be redeemed (you just had hoped in smaller amounts) and just because a mistake was made by a race does not mean you should take it out on the person(s) who attempt to redeem them. Eat the cost and move on, do not throw a public tantrum and just alienate your (potential) customers. Embarrassing and rude are the words and emotions that come to mind. Would not recommend to anyone and will never be back. Plenty of other great places in the region to spend hard earned dollars and this is certainly not one of them. read more

What can be a very frustrating process trying to get that perfect fit, has become an easy and fast process with their expert staff. They recognize what your feet need and can quickly get you fit in many options leaving the final choice simple. I will definitely use Lucky Foot and recommend it to all of my friends. I always have great success with Lucky Foot. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I have only been a runner for three years and have already discovered that as soon as you find a brand/model of shoe that works perfectly the manufacturer changes the next model. This can be frustrating but the staff at Lucky Foot have always been able to recommend several comparative shoes in different price ranges based on my past preferences. Another benefit with Lucky Foot is the running track and free running evaluation. As I have become a more seasoned runner my pronation has corrected a bit so my shoes have changed as well. I have a few running friends that have been disappointed with their shoes once they have run a bit in them but Lucky Foot always exchanges for them. One of my friends even went back twice before she found the perfect pair for her injured foot. Of course they aren't going to give you a refund, they are SHOES and have been on your feet; they can't resell them (gross) why would they give you a cash refund? Lucky Foot is also very supportive of our local running community and I have received a gift certificate in the past for placing in a race which they were more than happy to honor. I really enjoyed my experience with this place. I had never purchased real running shoes before and since I already had bad knees due to 10+ years of dance, I wanted to be sure that I got what I needed so as to not make it worse on myself when I started jogging. They do their gait analysis in neutral shoes and from there work with you until you find what is right for you. I found out that I overpronate (it runs in the family), and after trying on several supportive shoes, I found the ones that felt the best. My jogging experience has greatly improved! I have much less pain (usually none at all) and they are very comfortable! The selection is great, lots of brands, types, and colors. Prices are what you would expect for current shoe selections (and often have discounts). Friendly and helpful staff. They also do a LOT for the running community, which is also a big plus when you are deciding where to shop! I would be happy to do business with them again, when I am ready for a new pair! read more

Lucky Foot was an excellent running shoe buying experience. If you are a serious runner this is a good source for shoes. If you're not a serious runner you won't have much appreciation for the resources available at Lucky Foot. After years of buying motion control shoes (based on advice of "experts" due to the fact that I have flat feet) the folks at Lucky Foot watched me run and recommended a straight lasted shoe instead. My husband and I had gone to the Lucky Foot vendor at the Ukrops Monument 10k Expo to check them out because of an information card we had received from a previous race! We wanted our gate analyzed but we were not able to do it at the Expo! So we drove all the way up from South Prince George to the store in Midlothian! My husband really needed a new pair of running shoes (especially since he bought the world's cheapest pair). I was expecting that my gate would have been over pronated but it ended up I was neutral. My husband on the other hand, did have over pronation and Lucky Foot hooked him up with a nice pair of Brooks. I ended up with a pair of Asics socks! We also took our racing bibs from the Monument Ave 10k and received a 10k Lucky Foot magnet. We also received a discount on our purchase as well. When I began running last year, I had severe issues with shin splints. Lucky Foot had just opened and I paid them a visit. They analyzed my running form and determined that the shoes I was wearing were not correct and not helping the problem. They put me in the right shoes and off I went. During the process of correcting my running form, the heels wore out very quickly. They exchanged them for a new pair and when those started to wear, changed my shoes again to the next "step up". Even though the cause was due to the wear and not a defect, they gladly made the exchange. They worked patiently with me to ensure that my shoes were correct and that I was completely satisfied. Those shoes have just recently worn down to the point of replacing. They were very concerned and worked with me every step. Their knowledge and genuine concern has allowed me to enjoy my running experience. I have placed my order for a new pair of shoes through them and will continue to use them as my source for shoes, equipment and advice.
