    Windmill Island Gardens

Enjoyable visit. Went a few months after the tulip festival, and tickets were 13 dollars per…read moreperson. The windmill is surrounded by pretty gardens and a range of small houses/buildings/cottages with dioramas and shops. There is also a carousel (only for children), and an organ (with periodic demonstrations). The windmill was imported several decades ago from the Netherlands - the history was narrated to us by a staff member in a Dutch costume. She was exceptionally friendly and answered our questions with wit and humour. The mechanics of the windmill were fascinating, and one could go up five storeys (each floor had its own equipment and explanations), though not right up to the top. The windmill is surrounded by beautiful gardens with a variety of flowers. It was fun to stroll around the gardens and visit the gift shop. The blue and white jewellery at the gift shop was particularly stunning. There is also free cheese available- some of the varieties were quite unusual. Four stars because while the windmill itself was interesting and the gardens lovely, there is nothing much to really do. Overall a pleasant experience but not sure if I will visit again.

It was so lovely seeing the features that were offered like the row house with the Dutch exhibit. The pond and walkways were so nice. You can walk all the way around the island if you like. The small bridge was a perfect spot for photos. Of course the main attraction is the windmill. The ladies working the bottom were so sweet and friendly. We walked up to the top. Each floor had something to offer. Once at the top, we went out on the balcony to enjoy a gorgeous view. Our last stop was the huge musical machine. It added such whimsy. We really enjoyed our visit.

We had a couple beers and shared the pepperoni pinwheels at the bar. The bartender says the pinwheels were the top seller, and we saw why! Sooo yummy! Definitely stop by if you're in Holland. Looked like a lot of live music options too.

When my Food arrived I requested to have my fries remade since they were NOT HOT & had most likely been sitting under a light ( is my guess ) for a while. After 25 minutes fresh fries did arrive but as you might imagine now my sandwich was COLD.I asked my waitress ( who was lovely in every way!!!! ) to please send a manager over so I could express my frustration. The manager was apologetic & comped my food - but fun fact,I now had a cold sandwich with hot fries. Literally one was switched for the other. Although I appreciate the slight concern, it would have been nice to offer me an altogether HOT meal complete with everything HOT at the same time.Am I asking too much? I didn't get a meal that day- just some hot fries.....& actually the thought of this still annoys me. Please consider the entire meal & remember,I came to EAT not "negotiate " 1/2 of a HOT meal. SO ANNOYING!!!!!!! Do better New Holland,Please . P.S. An interesting footnote to this review is that New Holland Brewing didn't even care enough to acknowledge this or respond

Hubby said the bed is hard. Furniture is hot comfortable or useful. It's quiet at least. On the 3rd floor. Our window faces the front parking lot. Seems quiet. Street noise is not bad at all. The hotel seems quiet for 48 room capacity. Not seeing a lot of folks throughout the day. A bit odd. Aura offers Starbucks brand coffee and some pastries too. There is a small store towards the lounge area to the right of the check-in area. Small business rooms and decent sized conference rooms and little study areas. The common areas are all over and plenty of space to hang out wherever inside and patio spaces too.

Since the hotel is right in the college area, they even sell local college gear in the lobby. For quick food options, there's a little snack station where you can buy drinks and snacks, plus a microwave available for guests to use. I also really appreciated the water station, which made it super easy to fill up my reusable water bottle throughout the day. Location-wise, it's about a mile walk to the lake but just a block away from downtown. Parking was incredibly easy and convenient, as they have multiple lots around the property where you can park for free. The room itself was nice and standard, equipped with a fridge and a small seating area. The bathroom was very nice and updated. On my first night, the motion sensor seemed to be acting up because the lights kept shutting off on me, but housekeeping must have noticed and fixed it the next day because it worked perfectly after that. My only real complaint about the room was the WiFi, which was pretty spotty and didn't really work well inside the room. Overall, it's a clean, convenient, and modern place to stay. I would definitely come back!

It was currently under renovation (signage said until November 2027) so hopefully that means they're upgrading they're rooms throughout the process. They were adding onto the hotel but we didn't notice any noise during sleeping hours. Parking was a little dicey too, if you came back anytime in the evening. They had an event the last night we were there and that took up tons of parking spaces so we had to park In the electric car park only spot--told the front desk and they were okay with it They're also dog friendly, which was awesome. We brought our 2 mini dauschunds and staff wooed over them We stayed in a king suite for the space and it was the perfect amount of space. Had a large mini fridge/freezer and microwave, which was awesome! The large tub in the main room seemed odd/dated to me Id absolutely stay here again though. Overall, good value for the location itself, friendly staff.

Shower was huge and awesome. Bed super comfy! Unfortunately, we stayed on the 4th Floor, and unbeknownst to us, a wedding was held in the event space right above us, wine the dance floor situated literally right above our room. Very loud if you need to sleep early! Front desk seemed genuinely apologetic, offered headphones and a time the din was to end, but it ended 30 minutes past that quoted time. The bar is fantastic, interesting drinks, and stellar prices during happy hour! Our bartender seemed discontent, like she was over it and didn't want to be there. Breakfast and coffee the next morning were also great - many my picky husband happy, and the horchata cold brew with almond milk fueled my entire day! To top it all off, it's super convenient to our fav pizza place downtown. I'd stay at Tulyp again in a heartbeat!
