Wow - the service here is fantastic. I brought in my Porsche Macan for an oil service and engine light. I was quoted prices for multiple services today, August 11, 2026, and unfortunately, it was not just one or two items that seemed overpriced. Everything I asked about was quoted significantly higher than what I would consider reasonable market pricing. I first contacted this business several months ago after my catalytic converter was stolen. I reached out to ask about pricing for protection for a new replacement catalytic converter that I would purchase myself. The protection they offered was extremely expensive compared with other options I had researched. I returned to the business for a second time today, August 11, 2026, for a different reason. I wanted them to visually inspect two old parts to determine their condition. One of the parts was leaking oil and the other was not. During our conversation, Ernie did explain that the best way to determine whether the parts were actually functioning properly would be to install them on the vehicle and test them. I ultimately decided not to have that testing performed because, after being told that one of the parts was leaking, I was no longer interested in purchasing the set of old parts at that point. More importantly, the pricing I received today was based on the services I was asking about rather than an inspection that established what work was actually necessary. For example, I was quoted $225 for an alignment. From my research and the prices I have found from other automotive shops, I can get an alignment for approximately $100-$150 elsewhere. At $225, that is simply not a price I am willing to pay. The disappointing part is that this was not an isolated incident. The first time I contacted this business, I felt the pricing was extremely high and overpriced. The second time, I had the same experience. After researching the cost of these services and comparing prices elsewhere, I found the quotes I received to be substantially higher than reasonable alternatives. I also left with the impression that I was being quoted higher prices because I am a woman and that the assumption was that I wouldn't know enough to question the prices. If that was the intention, it was a very poor assumption. I do my research, I know what services cost, and I am not going to agree to inflated pricing simply because someone assumes I won't know the difference. Being located in Redondo Beach does not justify charging excessively high prices. A local automotive business should be serving the community by providing fair, transparent, and reasonable pricing, not charging excessive prices simply because customers need automotive services. Another issue with excessively high pricing is that it ultimately puts the customer in a lose-lose situation. When a business quotes an unreasonable price, the customer has to spend additional time and energy researching other shops, making phone calls, getting additional quotes, and potentially traveling elsewhere to find a fair price. On the other hand, customers who do accept these prices may end up paying substantially more of their hard-earned money than necessary. That is one of the reasons I am taking the time to write this review. I want other people to be aware of my experience before they spend their own time and energy inquiring about services here. My recommendation is to get prices from multiple shops before agreeing to any work. Based on the prices I was quoted on both occasions, I personally would look elsewhere. I have no issue paying a fair price for quality work, but I do have an issue with being given prices that are substantially higher than reasonable alternatives. Because of these experiences, I would not return to this business for future services, and I would not recommend it to friends, family, or anyone looking for honest and reasonably priced automotive service. I chose this shop because I wanted a professional opinion before purchasing a used van and later returned for additional repairs. Between the pre-purchase inspection, HVAC switch repair, and A/C service, I spent just under $600. One recurring issue throughout my experience was communication and scheduling. On multiple occasions, I was told work could be completed the same day, only to arrive and be told the vehicle would need to be kept overnight or even through the weekend. While I understand that unexpected issues can arise, this happened more than once and made planning transportation and work schedules difficult. The most recent visit was for an A/C system that was not blowing cold air. I paid for an evacuation/recharge service, refrigerant, oil, dye, and Schrader valve replacement. Unfortunately, the A/C still does not blow cold air after the service. After being notified it was working after the service( we never felt cold air), I requested technician notes, pressure readings, vent temperature readings, and any diagnostic information related to the repair so I could better understand what was found. I did not receive the information I requested. My partner and I also experienced difficulty getting responses to follow-up calls and messages. I understand that vehicle repairs can be complicated and that not every issue can be resolved on the first visit. My disappointment comes from the lack of communication, changing timelines, and inability to obtain clear documentation or answers after spending a significant amount of money with the shop. I will not be coming back and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop to others who value consistent communication, transparency, and follow-up support. Update: I wanted to update my review now that the situation has been resolved. After my original review, the owner Tom personally reached out and took the time to review everything with me. He acknowledged that there were communication issues during the process and that some important checks should have been performed earlier. I appreciated the honesty and accountability. The shop continued diagnosing the A/C system and ultimately found metal contamination from a failing compressor. They also helped isolate a possible issue with the aftermarket rear A/C system that had been added during my vans conversion. The owner worked with us on the repair cost and provided documentation and explanations throughout the process. The experience was still more stressful and time-consuming than it should have been, and there were several instances where expectations about timing and communication did not match what actually happened. However, I do want to give credit where it's due: once the owner became involved, he made a genuine effort to make things right and see the repair through to completion. The van is now repaired and the A/C is working properly. While the process had its challenges, I appreciate the owner's willingness to stand behind the work and work toward a fair resolution. read more

I guess it was OK BUT I find it frustrating that I can grt the same required anit-freeze for $11.99 & they charge $29. I needed 4 gallons!?!?!? I can get the part for $100 & they charge $175. of course they state that their's is better . looking back I should have done it myself. Then they claim I need new brakes & rotors. I checked brakes getting close BUT rotors were fine. I guess overaLl it was O.K . But the trying to upsell (other things also) is frustrating . I went in. For a water pump & ended up costing $1265 ( needed new reservoir also) but then they quoted $3,000 more for other questionable things. I wanted windshield washer sprayer checked also but they forgot. I came in for a diagnostic complete inspection for my very old worn out 2014 Nissan Altima. I called in & explained the day before my issues to a gentleman named Ernie & he said come on in. I started off trying to ask Midas on yelp if they service my car for an alignment. Midas was recommended by a friend. Dealer wanted to charge me $400. Yelp ended up creating a project and this was the first company that got back to me. I had more than 10 businesses respond and vetted all the businesses that were within the area I wanted. There were 3 other businesses within walking distance from this place that offered half the price. This place described the tools they had while the other did not give good info. Upon arrival, they were quick to attend and very friendly, even the mechanics were friendly. The place is well taken care of. There is a waiting room with amenities. I kind of regret the amenities as I had to go to the restroom a lot but they had a clean restroom. That waiting room was actually relaxing. So, a few observations. I saw a 100k+ Audi being serviced and a classic car being serviced. It made me feel better about my decisions. I walked down the street to check out the other businesses that replied and they looked like hole in the wall locations except for one of the places, it looked ok. I wouldn't have trusted them to take care care of my car and would have had anxiety the whole time. I noticed that they took care of my and took there time and test drove the car. I noticed a huge difference after. The ride was smoother and more stable. I got my alignment because I installed new tires the day before and the old tires were unevenly worn out within 12k miles. I would recommend this place. An alignment is not a small task and many things can go wrong if not done properly. There are a lot of shady mechanics that take shortcuts so that is why I chose this place. Sometimes if a price seems too good, don't risk it. I have been a mechanic for more than 25 years so I have seen the shortcuts I had to repair. Pricing is fair at this place. read more

Went there because we saw an ad on Instagram about transparency and better pricing. Ended up being the complete opposite. They wouldn't give me pricing over the phone and ended up charging $300 for something that didn't fix our A/C issue even though they quoted us an absurd price for the actual issue which we declined. It felt very tricky and fishy. I have the same vehicle with sportier brakes and have taken it to a higher end shop that actually quoted me hundreds less for brakes and rotors. So not only did I feel like I got scammed, but left with the same issue for one of the things I wanted fixed and got charged for nothing. Unfortunately I will not be going back.
