Whenever I come across a local business with 5 stars, I'm under the impression reviews are fabricated. That is far from the case with Car Nerds! Less than a week ago, I opened a project via Yelp to seek quotes to inspect my car's engine coolant warning. The reviews for both the Santa Monica and Torrance locations caught my attention. But what really stood out to me was Rony's responsiveness. I made it clear in my request I wasn't sure if my issue was rooted in a faulty sensor or truly low fluid. So Rony offered to do an inspection first, instead of prematurely assigning an unreasonable or high quote like certain dealerships/competing shops. Liz over at the front desk was kind, personable, and professional. She set the tone for the shop to be welcoming and easygoing. And while it wasn't necessary, she directed me towards their fridge to grab a drink while waiting. Most repair shops just have a broken water cooler that spills all over. (so this was a nice touch) I'm a naturally inquisitive person. So by the end of my car's inspection and quick/minor repair, I had questions about: - why I saw a specific warning on my dashboard - how things work etc. Rony was kind of enough to pop the hood of my car and explain in layman's terms what he was seeing and the solve. My only note is that the mechanic arrived a tad late past the agreed appointment time. In the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal to me because of the high degree of customer service & efficiency. I also verified by the end of my visit that this is a full-service shop. My brakes went out on my 2015 Prius and I took it to another mechanic after their quote I decided to shop around and thankfully found Car Nerds! Not only was the work exceptional, they were able to do the repair quickly and the price was so reasonable and has a warranty. Super accommodating staff as well. I found Car Nerds via Yelp and its good reviews and decided to take my Subaru there since it's just a few blocks from where I live. Everyone from Liz the office administrator to Rony the owner were super friendly. They quickly identified the problem that was making a strange noise--bad ball bearings in one of the wheel hubs. The price quoted was very reasonable and after a bit of confusion about the replacement part (not the mechanic's fault) everything was fixed very professionally. They also replaced the battery. My 12 yo Jeep was experiencing some issues. I took it to another auto repair in Redondo Beach which checked it out & gave me an opinion & estimate regarding repair which did not make sense to me. The cost would be $1200. they also charged me upfront $185 just for the estimate. I said I'd think about it. I liked that they don't charge upfront for the evaluation with no obligation. So I went there & was very impressed with the honest opinion, Very Different than the expensive one from the other place. Ronnie discovered my air conditioning had a leak, the coolant totally drained out. The other shop didnt mention that. Now my Jeep is running good. Ronnie told me to bring it back in to follow up and I will understanding that I won't be charged just for the follow up. Great service, fair pricing. I needed a new headlight. I called the place that has done work on my car before and was told the lights would be $200 and $175 to install them. I said I looked the lights up on line and they are around $50!!! I was told I had to use their parts. I said obviously you now longer want my business. I looked on Yelp and found Car Nerds.
