Good shop for anything you need but for powerstrokes I don't think you can find a more honest straightforward shop! After moving to northern Colorado from the Denver area I wasn't sure if I should just push the truck into the lake but Sean fixed it and it hasn't temped me since! I've owned my 6.0 almost 10 looooonnnngggg years and have constantly thrown money into the motor whether egr coolers (4) oil coolers (3)and lots of injectors. . It's great to stop throwing money at it for once and actually have it running good. Sean a few times has diagnosed it through text messages. I always get my truck in and repaired faster and cheaper than any other shop I've used in the past. They even fix my wife's vw passat on occasion. Great group of guys! I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 L. It currently has 140,000 miles on it and has largely been stock and trouble free since day one. Having said that, at 120,000 my EGR finally started to plug up and fail. Sean BulletProofed it and did the stand pipes at the same time. Great service and fair price. Now, more recently my injectors finally started to fail (4 of them). I had Sean replace all 8 with Ford re manufactured one. It is amazing how well my truck runs now. It wasn't cheap, but still cheaper that anywhere else, with better and more trustworthy service. I joked with Sean that I don't want to see him again, but should I need service, I will definitely make the drive from Denver to Longmont. Definitely recommend, go with confidence for Power Stroke service. read more

I had major issues with my 2003 Ford F350 6.0. Total engine replacement or overhaul. When I started making calls to local diesel shops I felt like most of them were over priced or under qualified to handle a big job like this. I read some forums and saw some guys that liked Shawn at Lucky's diesel repair. I wasnt crazy about trailering my 8000lbs truck 100+ miles one way but after talking with him on the phone I was convinced he could handle the job. Shawn gave me an honest quote and took the time to explain what was damaged and what parts we could save. His knowledge of the 6.0 Powerstroke was immense to say the least. He gave me a timeline and stuck to it. I know that he had numerous hours more than on the quote and never tried to bill more. He was honest throughout the entire process and kept me up to date on every detail. If there were more good small shops like his dealers would be out of the repair business. I cant say enough good about Lucky's diesel repair and will always make the drive to have him fix my vehicles. read more

I'd give these guys 6 stars if I could. I've a 2001 Ford F250 with 7.3 Powerstroke. I took it in because it's had a "cold start" issue for a number of years. Bottom line is that Sean and John did a number of basic troubleshooting tests and ultimately could not solve the problem. I'd explained that I did not want to tear the engine down to find it, hopefully could find in basic troubleshooting. In the end, Sean explained that they'd need to run a compression test as next step. As I did not want to incur this type expense, they were both understanding and supportive, considering the age of the truck and that it runs well, outside of the cold start issue. Sean also took the time to recommend an oil additive that he suggested could help my problem. Note, he does not sell the additive, but he told me where to get it. While we did not get the issue solved, I cannot say enough about this firm's honesty and integrity. They listen extremely well, and live up to what they say they'll do. There charges are more than fair. After numerous BAD experiences at the dealership, Lucky's is where my truck will go for any needed work. I only wish they'd work on other makes, as I'd take all my vehicles to them if I could. read more

Wow! What amazing service. I had my VW towed to this shop in the middle of the night thinking they handle all diesels but it turns out they didn't. My bad. BUT, instead of just turning me away, John took his time for FREE, to look things over just in case he could work on it. When he found out he couldn't do it, he called around all of Longmont looking for shops to take care of it. When he finally found one, he even arranged the tow! I know, unbelievable, right!? Its true. The level of customer service to me when I wasn't even a customer is off the charts! If you are looking for a company to take care of your Power Stroke, Look no further. This is the only shop I trust working on my truck. I work on vehicles as a hobby but when the time came to pull the heads, oil cooler, and install studs on my 6.0 I turned to these guys. I'm not permitted to leave disassembled vehicles in my driveway due to HOA rules. Because of this I called up Lucky's and talked to Cody about my truck and what I wanted to do. Cody was great setting things up over the phone and it didn't bother the guys that I had specific heads and studs that I wanted to use. Kyle was the awesome, highly knowledgeable mechanic that was tasked with the work. I wanted a mechanic that had a passion for doing good work and was proud of the final product. After meeting Kyle a few times before and during the job I realized he was the right person for the job. He found a few small issues after pulling the heads. Instead of just sending me a massive bill, he called to let me know what the issue was and we discussed ways to address it properly. While putting everything back together, Kyle found one of my rocker boxes was cracked. When I picked up the truck he let me know that he had a spare one lying around the shop so he replaced it - no charge to me. Prior to installing the o-ringed cylinder heads, Kyle checked them over and noted that one had an issue. He contacted the vendor and arranged to have a new head shipped to the shop. Kyle called me after the fact and let me know what the problem was - and that he was already working on a resolution. I could give several more scenarios where Kyle and Cody took care of me and, more importantly, my truck. Now my 2005 Harley Davidson Edition 6.0 runs better than ever. She doesn't leak coolant or oil, the headgaskets are sealed tight, and my oil & coolant temps are perfect. The guys also recommended a few aftermarket parts for me. I gave the parts a try and I'm glad I did! I have no regrets using Lucky's and is the only shop I recommend Powerstroke owners use. read more

I came into Lucky's Diesel for the specific purpose of getting my oil cooler changed. I had already changed the t-stat, radiator and intercooler myself (among other things) and had diagnosed temperature deltas indicating a clogged oil cooler. When I arrived at the shop I was told that I would need a diagnosis. This took a day and I was told that my t-stat was stuck open. I don't believe this diagnosis because it was a brand new Mishimoto hi-temp t-stat that I installed a few days earlier. The code that was thrown in the truck was thrown with the old t-stat (OEM Ford) and is what prompted me to look at the oil cooler since a plugged cooler will easily cause temperature deltas. This is a known issue on Powerstrokes since the 6.0 and my truck has specific cooling issues that I detailed to the tech at the time I took it into Lucky's. All of this was ignored and I was told that my t-stat was stuck open and needed to be replaced. So they removed a brand new Mishimoto hi-temp t-stat and threw it away (so I can't get a warranty) and put in a garbage Ford OEM t-stat. It works, but it was unnecessary because after replacing the t-stat, they noticed the same issue I had already noticed: my temperature deltas were still wrong. When the tech called about the t-stat issue, I asked if he had checked the oil cooler and he said he couldn't do it until the t-stat was changed. They didn't want to pull the cab since it costs a lot of money. Well, it turns out that after changing the t-stat, I was correct all along. The temperature deltas didn't return and I was called back to be notified that my initial conclusion that the oil cooler was clogged was probably correct. I was told that labor would be cut in half, but this after having to deal with a rental for 4 days going into the Thanksgiving weekend. I was told that an oil cooler would have to be ordered and would just have to wait. When I was told that my truck was ready, I paid for a ride out to the shop but upon arriving was told that the check engine light was on. I was assured that it was just some water in the connector but if it came back I could get it fixed. I have no idea why I would trust this place to mess with anything as precious as the crankshaft (the code that's being thrown) after all of this. So no, they aren't going to touch my truck again. In addition to the check engine light I also have popping noises that come from the cab any time I turn left or right indicating that they did not put the cab on correctly. What I expected was to get my oil cooler replaced and my truck returned in good condition. While I did get my oil cooler replaced finally, it took much longer with much more hassle than expected and my truck is certainly not in good condition at this point. Take this for what you will but a shop that doesn't listen to its customers isn't worth going to in my book. No I will not be returning to them or contacting them in any way. I still have to find a shop capable of putting my truck back together again. read more
