I waited until my second time to wrote this review - the first time I was charged $45 for the pedi, I said no polish, and she still charged me the full amount (most take off $5ish bc time and supplies not used!) Not only that, the pedi was super! Fast forward to today - I get this kid and immediately I know he's new - then he cuts me - I'm annoyed but he's apologetic. He uses the pumice for literally two swipes on each foot... TWO!! I ask "is that it? Bc I know my feet need more than that - it's been a few months and I walk Everyday" he says to me that it's fine, but he'll charge me a little more and do a little more - ok FINE. Let's just say that if yelp allows me to post a pic, there is NO WAY you'll believe I just walked out of a pedi 10 mins ago - and yet I did. Then he apparently forgets that he's cut me and proceeds to pour alcohol on my toes - including the cut one!! I yank my foot away in stinging pain a. He tries to grab it back before I restrainedly snap that it stings and to give me a minute!! It was only $35 this time, it didn't include the parrafin wax, and I wasn't asked, not that I want to give them any more money! I could've done a better job myself!! The only good thing was the paint job. That looks nice - but I'm going to California in 3 days and my feet look like crap. NEVER go here, no matter how convenient it seems! read more

This has become my go-to nail salon because there aren't any other options around here. My takeaways: They offer a two week guarantee on your gel polish, so if anything happens you can go back and they will fix it for free. I've been getting gel done here for a couple months and have never had to go back for them to fix. The downside is you have to hang on to the slip they give you. I like that they serve complimentary wine and water. Downside: they hardly ever offer it. My main painpoint with this place is their lack of service. I will often get bounced around from technician to technician mid way through a service. I understand that sometimes it happens when someone is helping me remove gel, but I find it odd I have to switch seats half way through just because a new customer walks in. The shop does look pretty clean, and I do appreciate them letting you add tip on card, although I feel like their prices tend to be a bit steep. read more

Absolutely disgusting...This "salon" reuses foam flip flops and toe separators- that's just the beginning. The nail technician, on several occasions, were so forceful and almost violent when working on cuticles. My roommates went last week and both came home with bleeding fingers and subsequent ingrown nail infections. I, on the other hand, came home with basically broken toes because of the unnatural way the technician was trying to bend them while, you guessed it- trimming cuticles ALSO, they charge different prices for each customer. I've been here 3 times, only because of the convenient location- and each time, different technicians are haggling prices with customers who state they can't "afford" the manicure. Call me insensitive, but you'd be pretty shocked (annoyed) If you were being charged 30$ more than the person sitting next to you for the same service. Oh btw there are flies everywhere. I live in the area and needed my mani done pronto- plus I didnt want to trek across town to my usual spot. I thought heck let me just go give it a try. My nail tech did a really really good job- and was super patient with my color selection- I admit it Im a pain and am super indecisive when it comes to picking a color she was consistently looking at my nails under her light and ensuring everything was perfect- and well actually it was!! They have a very interesting approach to appointment policy. I called in advance to schedule an appointment. I came on time, exactly at 12:30 just to find out that all staff is busy with other clients. I waited for 25 minutes until they started doing my manicure. In response to the owner who is "blaming the victim" regarding the toenail fungus I got from this place: I am well informed of how onychomycosis is contracted as I am a licensed physician. Unequivocally I contracted this fungus from this nail salon, beyond a reasonable doubt if you would like the evidence. The very nails that were painful immediately after the pedicure lifted from the nail bed and became thick and yellow within 1-2 weeks after the pedicure. I work 80-100 hours per week and do not engage in locker-room or public gym showers or other such other activities that the owner claimed I must have participated in. read more

Went to this nail salon and was greeting with a rushing manner to take a seat and to pick a color for my gel manicure. All was going okay until the color started being applied. I felt like a 5 year old was painting my nails. Areas with missing polish, Polish on the skin on the side of my nails as well as over the top. The cuticles were scrapped at and not really removed. Perhaps this review may be a bit biased, since I am from NYC. Maybe my expectations were too high? Maybe I don't know the proper way a manicure is supposed to be executed? I walked in requesting a manicure and was immediately attended. For me, a manicure (not gel) consist of light filing, removing polish, pushing back cuticles, a hand massage followed by a warm towel and ends in the actual polishing of ones nails. Expecting this I dozed off to realize the woman had cut ALL of my cuticles, extensively filed my nails different shapes and filed the TOP OF MY NAILS! I literally shrieked! I then requested that she simply paint my nails, but she kept trying to cut my cuticles! She then brashly asked "can you pay me first". There is nothing spectacular about this shop, especially not the service. I was baffled when she said it would be $20.00 and of course the prices weren't advertised anywhere. I should've done my homework and checked Yelp I just didn't expect a manicure could go so wrong. I paid and had to tell her several times to reshape my nails and jerk my hands to prevent her from cutting my cuticles AND AROUND MY FINGERS even after I asked her to stop. I've gone to much higher end places in NYC, with spectacular service and amenities and have paid less than I did here for the same service. read more

I've read some reviews and have to say that you just should go for yourself to judge. I have had nothing but an excellent experience in the few times I have come here. I'm originally from the west coast and know how to work funky nails! I've gone to close to 10 different nail salons since arriving two years ago and have not found anyone that understands me like Lucy does!!! Mostly what I have heard from other salons is "we don't do that here" but not with Lucy! She was excited by my stiletto nails request! And she loves designs! The people are nice, and the customer service is fine, but the quality of the service is sketchy. I've experienced issues here, and almost every time I've come in, at least one other person in the shop is having issues. I've noticed that when customers bring it to their attention that they've messed up, they are quick to try to fix it for free, but rarely admit that it's their fault and usually blame it on the UV light machines, the polish itself, the weather, whatever. On more than one occasion I've received deep cuts in the skin around my nails because they got sloppy when filing and slipped. On another occasion, bubbles formed in my gel polish after being "set" under the UV lamp, and they basically said they couldn't do anything about it, but discounted my service. Also worth noting that they prices are ~$5 more than other places in the area. read more

Convenient due to location but not the most hygienic. Techs have cut my cuticles too deep before (yes, blood!). Level of service is fully dependent on who you get. Always, ALWAYS insist to see tools in their sanitizer packets before starting. The techs will roll their eyes at you for doubting them but don't let that deter you (if you must go here). If you pay attention, techs often reuse tools without sanitizing in between. They don't wash callus scrubbers and reuse Paraffin wax. read more

The original owner of this place left and sold it to someone else. I gave this place so many chances and hoping that the management will improve. Obviously you can't beat the location. I'm not sure what happened to Jade and Vivian but they were amazing technicians. I'm sure they left because the new owner is a crook and try to steal the employees money. So here's the catch. I went there a few days ago and I realized they have a board with menu and pricing for each service. Then on the side it says ATM service charge is extra $2.50 and Credit card they will charge extra $1 to $3 varies. It all depends on what kind of service. They used to charge gel manicure for $32, they changed it to $30 but then you still have to pay $30 + $2 credit card fee. But, then I saw my technician wrote $30 on her notebook. So basically I'm paying for the merchant's fee (like Visa/MC/Amex). What's the point of lowering the price if you are going to charge me for your credit card fee anyway? Isn't that your responsibility as a business owner to pay for the monthly fee? I know your bank charge you for every transaction. That's your issue, not mine. Also, that means you're stealing $1-$3 for each transaction from your employees and put it in your pocket. I think i am done coming to your place. Why am I supporting business owner like you? Frustrating and uncomfortable experience. Almost every nail salon of this caliber in NW Washington charges $15 for a regular manicure and this place charges $20. That would be fine if they did a decent job, but that was not my experience. My manicurist did a poor job on my cuticles, I had to ask her four or five times to fix cuticle that was still uneven and jagged. She also did a poor job painting my nails, leaving the edges of the nails unpainted and the polish noticeably uneven. I had the manicure yesterday and it is already chipping because the paint was not applied evenly. On top of that, before the manicure was finished I asked for change for a $10 so that I could leave a cash tip. The manicurist helped herself to a tip and gave me the rest of the $10 back. It found it very presumptuous that she should decide -- and take -- her own tip before the job was finished. It made me feel really uncomfortable. Just went here for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. I got a mani/pedi for $42. Tony gave an amazing pedicure and manicure. The chairs for pedicures are awesome and they offered drinks before we sat down (wine and water). It was not crowded since it was a Tuesday night and still a bit unknown and everyone was very attentive to myself and the three other customers. The loyalty program is great and since it's right near my apartment I will definitely go back. My roommate and I both said the pedicures were amazing. Always ask to see their printed price list AND check your credit card receipts. I've been in a few times over the last couple years for pedicures and waxing. The location is really convenient for me. The prices on waxing have steadily been creeping up. On my last trip in, the woman who rang me up at the register asked a colleague how much, even though I knew from previous visits how much it should be, and the other woman threw out a number that was $10 higher. I asked to see a printed price list (there was none posted) but she rang me up and overcharged me while I was confirming their costs. When I corrected her and pointed to the menu, she and the other woman both looked really annoyed that I asked for the extra money back. I wanted to like this place and came in with high hopes because it looks nice from the outside and is convenient to where I work. I went in for acrylic nail replacement and gel polish. When I walked in, the man behind the counter asked what I needed to have done, looked around, then took me to a table. The nails he put on me were very sloppy, with thick, uneven edges and a few fat drops of the acrylic in some spots around my cuticles. When using the electric file, he also got too close to my cuticle and sliced it open, making it bleed a bit. Finally, the polish at the end was haphazard. I didn't really notice exactly how bad my nails looked until I got outside and could see them in the sunlight. I was so embarassed, I went somewhere else that weekend and had them removed and replaced. read more

The first time I came I had a wonderful experience. My gel manicure lasted forever, the people were friendly and always made sure our wine glasses were full. The 2nd time I came back I had a different nail tech. I was getting gel. Once he had finished I had noticed my thumb looked like the polish was dripping down the side instead of smooth. He clearly saw it too and wasn't going to fix it. Finally I said something. He then RIPPED the gel off of my nail to start over. The 2nd go around he was in such a rush he didn't let the coats fully dry which left in a rippled look that peeled off that night. It wasn't even worth going back to have it fixed. This place is an awful waste of money! I got a pedicure and full set of french acrylics. I just got engaged and wanted my nails to be perfect. My pedicure was rushed even though the place was empty and you can definitely tell from looking at the polish. The foot "massage" was PAINFUL. One day later and my french full set looks like I already need a fill. I paid $75 (not including tip) and I'm actually tempted to go to a GOOD place today and get my nails redone. I will say that the man sitting at the reception desk was very friendly and offered me wine (but everywhere does that now...). Absolutely horrible. I usually go to another nail salon and should have followed my gut but I was rushing. A blue haired young man cut my nails to the quick. I asked for short but he literally cut off my nail. I am also worried now that I might get an Infection because they are so short. So this was my first time going to a salon, and I must say that I had a great experience. My girlfriend's a frequent customer at Happy Nails and recommended I go there for a massage. Scheduling an appointment over the phone was quick and easy. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a smile and quickly tended to without being hassled for additional treatments. My massage therapist, Ben, did an amazing job giving me a full body massage and didn't try and cheat me on my time by starting the clock as soon as got in the room. He was pleasant and was open to having a nice conversation during the massage (I enjoyed the conversation as it made my experience feel more personal). I can honestly say I haven't felt so relaxed in years. Afterwards, payment was simple as they accept cards as well as cash. I was so happy with the initial experience, that I got an appointment for a pedicure the following week. This time I was received treatment from Vivienne. She did an excellent job with my pedicure and made me feel at ease through the entire procedure. I can see why my girlfriend is a repeat customer at this establishment and I think I just might become one as well. read more

If you enjoy lies, deceit and bad service this is the spa for you. They claim your groupon the first time and then try to not redeem your other groupons you have on file the 2nd and third time around. They said since I was not with my wife I could not reclaim the groupon, but charged us for a groupon the 2nd time since she was not there. I did not get a massage, we got charged even when we gave them the groupon code over the phone. Then I tried to explain it was not wife who scheduled the massage but me, how can you penalize her for her groupon if she did not schedule it and you won't let me redeem it.
