Hi I took a dress to get hemmed for a wedding my daughter was a bridesmaid and the lady said it would be ready on Friday, I mentioned that the wedding was on Sunday, so come Friday, I went to work and my daughter googled there info and it said that they were. They can usually have your clothes ready in two days. The place is tiny, you come in to the place and clothes are right infront of you. To the left there is one desk and thats it. Lucy's Cleaners - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Buena Park, California

I've been coming to this shop for a little over a year now. I've been to some of the worst cleaners/tailors in the area. One of them made my clothes smell funny, another didn't know how to do alterations, and another charged 5 bucks to replace a button that didn't even match! I thought I had finally found a good shop, but after my last couple of visits, I am disappointed once again. The customer service here is terrible, and they will damage your clothes. I will not be returning. First of all, there is a language barrier that makes it extremely difficult to communicate with the staff. Since I'm also Asian, maybe the woman that works here thought we spoke the same language? There is usually a guy in the back somewhere. His English is better, so if you are unable to communicate with her, you may have better luck with him. Here are some of the reasons they lost my business. Incident #1: I needed the pant legs on a pair of my khakis slimmed down a bit. I tried explaining how I wanted them to look, but she kept telling me "no." I had a really difficult time understanding why she could not. She pointed at the inseam and kept telling me "it's a dodo." Then she would pinch the pants to show how it would look. When I replied "yes," she would keep explaining why her answer was "no," but when I said I would take them elsewhere, she made it sound like she was making an exception. We went back-n-forth for a few minutes. She kept telling me that she couldn't do it, but ended up doing it anyway. They looked just fine. Incident #2: I took in a pair of my favorite trousers for dry cleaning. I picked it up and found that the outside pant legs had white streak marks. It looked like what fabrics look like when you iron them on too high of a heat level. They assured me that they didn't iron their clothes, but instead steamed them. She suggested that maybe I brought them in that way. That's wonderful. She didn't want to be held accountable, so she blames the customer. Either way, I know I dropped these pants off without these (permanent) marks on the pants, and picked them up with it. She could not explain what caused it, and kept saying "I don't know." I really had to bite my tongue on this one. These were expensive pants (just shy of $100). I left and didn't return for awhile because of this. Incident #3: I decided to give Lucy's another chance. This was a HUGE MISTAKE! Just a month after that last incident, they ruined a second pair of pants! Please see the pictures I posted. This was the same exact thing that happened with my first pair of pants. I took them back immediately (still in the plastic wrap) and showed it to the lady. I took the nice approach and asked what happened, and if they could fix it. She brought the man out from the back. They both looked at each other and started fabricating an elaborate story about how I would rub my legs on my car seat over and over, which would cause the dye to fade. Great story, except these were brand new pants I brought you! They came straight from the store, and went to Lucy's. The would not take accountability. Not even an apology, but instead they tried to blame it on me! read more

They are cheap...and you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a little more for a smart seamstress and have the ease of knowing my clothes are in good hands. Communication is a problem. I'm very good with talking with my hands but she still didn't understand. I gave up and hoped her seamstress knowledge would automatically kick in when hemming my skirt...and it didn't...just straight across so the back is a bit short when wearing it. Good thing I asked for a longer length...just in case she screws up... She did a shotty repair on one of my jeans...she didn't even use the same color stitches as my jean color... Oh and she almost lost my clothes....no bueno. I would not bring my expensive clothes here...even for a simple hem. I might come back if I have something I need done in a rush...but I won't sleep very well... read more

The lady who works here is rude. First time coming in, she didn't even greet me, gave me a stare and I had to break the ice telling her I need a hem, instantly she gave me an attitude. Thankfully I'm very patient and kept my calmness, I brought in pants just for her to cut no sewing/tailoring needed just to cut because of the material. Picked up my pants And noticed that it was unevenly cut the other side of the pants is longer. $5 pant hem $7 leg tapering. Ready within a week. I get clothes seriously redone here. I've had a steven alan shirt that was too big on me taken in -- arms and sides taken in. Also, had straight leg chinos tailored for a shorter, tapered leg. Both came out great. read more

Sometimes, I secretly hate to be the first reviewer of these hidden gems in the fear that they'll get too busy. But with Lucy's Cleaners, they're so deserving because of they're so nice, inexpensive and quick! I had some curtains that were purchased from Restoration Hardware. To have them altered nearby, it would have cost $30 per panel. Lucy's was able to have them done for $15 per panel! It's a very small shop and looks to be run by a family. Cheap, Very nice owners and they get it right! I had jeans hemmed up here a few months ago and they did a great job. we took winter clothes there to get dry cleaned. She's good at alterations. I got my pants tapered in about 7 pairs so far. The prices are low too compared to other cleaners/alteration places. The only bad thing is the communication gap and also that they only take cash. But I also go back, so that must mean I'm a happy customer. read more

Took a pair of slacks in to have hemmed and tapered. I had measured a pair that fit perfectly so I gave her those measurements. She "forced" me to try on the slacks and realized the measurements i gave her were incorrect, so it was a good thing I did try them on. I use to go to N&H Cleaners just down the same street and that place was great with alterations along with the prices but they made my clothes smell like mildew whenever I got my clothes dry cleaned, everytime! ok... i really, really want to give this place more than one star, but not after what happened. so i went there for alteration based on the great yelp reviews... she is fast, affordable as mentioned in many reviews, but definitely unprofessional! went there to get a pair of jeans hemmed and a maxi dress that needed to shortened. tried on the jeans when i got home, that was fine. the dress was completely botched up! i'm not that tall... 5' 4 so most maxi dresses are way too long for me even when i wear heels. i actually asked her to cut it shorter so i can wear it with flats. she measured it, pinned it and everything... but somehow managed to cut the back about 3 inches shorter than the front. i brought it back so point out what she did and ended up getting yelled at by her! forget about getting an apology, she wouldn't even acknowledged her mistake. instead... she said my boobs and butt were too big, they were sticking out, that's why the dress came out the way it did. really??? i mean seriously lady??? 5' 4 asian chick, weighs 110 at most.. how big can my boobs and butt be? i wasn't pissed when i decided to go back, but was sure on fire after getting yelled at by her. so yea... i argued with her, yelled back and forth. luckily she didn't have any other customers there. future customers... getting your pants hemmed here is fine, but go elsewhere for everything else! or just go anywhere but here to be safe. read more
