I loved this place until I went for dinner on a Sunday night and after almost finishing eating i looked over and a roach was making its way down the wall and on to the table. My boyfriend quickly killed it and we let the waitress know and all she had to say was oh sorry. No discount no nothing...just sorry. Really???? I will never eat there again. I have eaten here several times, the food is decent diner style food, I love diner breakfast of steak and eggs. I always ask for my rare steak on a separate plate, My steak has had to be sent back every time because it would show up on my plate making my hash-browns soggy and pink. I have had several servers, all presented with an irritated tone when asked to fix my meal the way I asked. Although the meal has always been redone for me, I feel as though the servers wanted to express to me their discust with the break from normal routine. Even though I knew I would have troubles with my steak I kept going back, the food is pretty good. About 3 or 4 months ago my wife and I came into the restaurant around 2am, there were two clerks that I remember, one was busy mopping floors the other clerk did absolutely nothing for the 5 minutes I waited for service, We were one couple out of three couples in the store, we got the standard greeting, "Welcome to Lucy's" and that was it, we wound up leaving without service. Okay, that hurt my feelings because I just liked the food and atmosphere and I felt like It was becoming "My Place". I told myself I would not go back, but I did, my brother, who introduced me to the place decided we should give it another try. We walked in the door and got our greeting, we sat ourselves at an open table, as directed, and started timing the response. After the first several minutes of waiting, while someone, who appeared to be an owner or manager, had his face in a register standing next to a server who was politely just staring back at me smiling, my brother and I began noticing that one manager type person and two server type people could have at least spoken to us. We sat at the table waiting for a menu, a glass of water, a simple, "we will be with you in a moment" - - - We left the store eleven minutes after we sat down. My brother thinks it is because he was wearing a retired military hat, he is just sure they don't support our troops, I just know every time I visit now my opinion lowers by leaps and bounds. I stopped by for a late nite meal and after food arrived a cockroach ran across my table. I pointed it out to my server who responded "we don't charge extra for that". Not quite the response I was looking for. Needless to say, I will not return to that 24 hour roach diner. read more

Everything my family ate tasted burned, like they burned something on the flattop but didn't clean it, so all the rest of the food cooked after tasted burned, despite being otherwise. While the service was good and the people were wonderful, the restaurant seemed in disarray. Vacant tables were left with soiled dishes. The floor seemed cluttered. The food went it arrived was plentiful but lacked taste. The turkey was good. The corn bread dressing was unremarkable and dry. The salad seemed old. The turkey had a strange beef like gravy. We tried this diner for dinner at the recommendation of a local. We got there and the place was pretty busy, but not bad. The service was unbelievably slow. It looked like everyone was moving in slow motion. NO ONE was in a hurry. One server was overly-friendly. She'd stand by tables and talk to people for 5 minutes at a time. She did this at the tables right next to us, which placed her backside practically in our faces. It was uncomfortable for us. She also made inappropriate comments about another server. The food was good, but not enough to make up for the poor service, or make me want to go back. By the time we finally got our food, there were only a few other tables with people in them. We ordered chicken fried steak and were told that we were getting butter knives because the steak knives were all dirty. I'd watched the dishwasher come out about 10 minutes before and stand looking at the cart of dirty dishes for about 2 minutes before sauntering to the back with it. It was okay with typical diner fare. Good menu choices, the prices are cheap and it was pretty clean. The waitress didn't care much about serving though and the chili I got needed to be reheated in the microwave. Came here with my family for brunch. They were shocked when I told them I want going to partake in eating due to the fact the restaurant is completely filthy. I've ran multiple restaurants. The guest are your most important factor. They pay for everything you need to run the restaurant. So why is this restaurant so disgusting you ask? The menus are old crusty and need to be re-done. The booths have stains all over them. The floors covered in ketchup and hash browns. Oh and the tables?? Ohhh lord, I've watched multiple waitress' just spot wipe the table and not even the chairs where I watched scrambled eggs fall from a burly gentlemen's plate. I am shocked. This is a slap in the face for guest perspective and customer service. Customer service is more than saying "hi how you doing" or "have a great day" it's having integrity. I went to Lucy's tonight and had a good meal only to find out that they just recently changed the oil they fry with to Peanut oil. For most people, this is no big deal. To me, who has an extreme allergy to peanuts, it is a huge deal. If you are going to change to something like that, you HAVE to inform your customers. And the manager never came out and apologized or anything. And when my wife called the best he could say was in sorry and that we could call the corporate office. Now my night is ruined as I had to rush home to take medicine hoping I won't have to spend the night in the ER. read more

We moved to NWA last year and tried place after place to replace a cozy little diner from Conway (Stoby's) and were disappointed until we found Lucy's. I just ate at Lucy's. Since it opened the food and the restaurant has slowly gone down hill. Tonight I just realized that although you are only drinking tap water they are charging you fifty cents per glass for water. I'm not sure about you people but when a restaurant of this type starts charging for tap water without informing you of the cost there must be other hidden charges or problems. My issue is charging for tap water that isn't necessarily filtered and served in one of there cheap plastic cups. The pancake special with scrambled eggs and country ham was so good! Enough to feed 2-3 ppl. Pancakes are huge and heavy. Hashbrowns and grits were done right. Sausage patties were perfect. Biscuit and gravy were as they should be. All the food was served hot. They have crushed ice and Mr. Pibb. The coffee was perfect, not bitter and tarry. We would definitely come back! read more

I've been here three times. Each time my food was cold. This last time, I waited about 15 minutes as the waitress walked by my table but never would answer my wave for attention. I finally took my food to the front counter, told them it was cold, told them I was tired of waiting for someone to put it in a microwave to heat it up, and left. Went for breakfast on Sunday. Got thereabout10:30 and had to have breakfast. I got the chicken fried steak. It came with hash browns, eggs and toast. The eggs came outs one big egg with two eyes. They were not cooked as I ordered, but it might just not be my week, the steak was cooked, but not as crunchy as I would like. Pretty full, and I was disappointed that a 24 hour dinner would not have the Sunday special before 11:00. Server was new, but did try. I will give it another shot on a weekday. read more

Have now been here for both breakfast and dinner. This place is completely bipolar. The breakfast service was terrific, the food was good, the kitchen staff amazing. True professionals in the kitchen knocking out breakfast standards in record time. The staff was friendly and efficient. Then I decided to try dinner. It was a complete 180. The place was dirty, even for a diner. Service was horrendous . There were four other tables seated when we arrived but our meals still took over an hour to come. When they got there one of three was wrong, it was sent back and came back wrong again. A hamburger with just ketchup, mustard and cheese should not take three attempts. When the food did get there correct it was good, but not good enough to to offset the service. My advice weekday breakfast hard to beat, weekend dinner best just retreat. read more

We just went to Lucy's Diner to have breakfast.We have heard from a friend that they serve you a lot of food w/low prices.Well,to us that was'nt the case.First, Service was slow. Then when I got my food it was cold.I mean not even warm at all. Second, my husband"s orange juice tasted like soap because the cup had residue on it,Third, the staff that was walking around clearing off tables just blatently were blowing their noses all througout the seating area.It was very rude and grose. Food is mediocre and the restaurant always feels dirty and grimy. i realize it is a landmark in the area, but I can't understand why. The service is inconsistent, as is the food. It's a typical greasy spoon, but there are better places to get similar food of higher quality for less money - and in an environment that is clean. No sticky, greasy tables or floors that don't look to have been cleaned in months. If they allow the restaurant to look like this, imagine how awful the kitchen is. No thanks. read more

Love this place. Have eaten at both locations (Fayetteville & Rogers, AR) & you can expect the same great food & service from both. Be sure to go hungry. Both times I had to bring home leftovers. The hamburgers are the best are. Hand-made, no frozen patty from here. More fries than can be eaten at one time. Have also had the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, jellied cranberry & rolls. Wasn't too crazy about the dressing, though. Not enough sage for me. Would highly recommend either location. The service sucked. We waited 15 minutes just for a waitress to order food. When we entered, the staff didn't greet us nor welcomed us to have a seat. What was even more ridiculous is they allowed a customer to bring his dog into the restaurant, wtf! Driving through Rogers a little after the lunch hour on a Saturday afternoon, looking for a non-chain restaurant for a bite. Being a fan of old-fashioned diners, when I saw the "Lucy's Diner" sign and the number of cars parked in the lot I thought "This looks like a good spot." My expectations were exceeded. We went in and sat at a table near a window. It was no time at all before our server came over with menus. We took several minutes to make up our minds, but he was quite patient with us. We ordered our meals, one of us a Veggie Omelet with biscuit and hash browns, the other a Vegetable plate of 5 different sides. We waited perhaps 20 minutes or less for our food. When the server brought it, we were really surprised to see such generous servings. It was a good thing that we hadn't eaten for 6 hours or we never would have finished all of it. For one thing, the biscuit was huge and came with a side of gravy. There were grits as well as a huge side of hash browns (I hadn't expected both, as I thought it was an either/or type menu.) We had enough food on the table for 4 slightly hungry people, three hungry people or 2 very hungry people. We ended up taking part of it with us. Our server was excellent, as was the food. The cost for the meal for two with coffee and iced tea was much less than what I am used to paying in a chain restaurant, getting much smaller servings and not nearly as tasty. It's good to know that places like this still exist--even if I have to drive 240 miles to get to it! read more
