I do like the decor and all I can't like the latte I had there. Friendly staff but 75F (afternoon) day and not having drip coffee because it's a hot day....was not a good excuse I wanted to hear. I wish they said it ran out. I usually have oatmeal latte. It was not hot. Oatmeal taste was not the standard I like. My go to latte places such as Bluebottle, Ambler, Aster Hall, Lost Larson, Sawada.... When I pay $5+ per latte, I'd like to have a great quality not a so so quality... Cute place. Super cute dog-themed coffee shop. I'm actually considering buying the artwork that they displayed all over the shop. They were artwork of dogs in fancy clothes and they were available for adoption or have been adopted. Warning though, some people may be loud which makes it hard to do work. One person was talking on the phone for the entire two hours I was doing work there. Even with ear plugs, I heard his whole business ordeal. I also ordered a jam pastry and it came in a dog bowl! Things are on the pricey side, but it's good to go at least once. read more

I love this place they have the best pastries and pretty tasty coffee. I have gotten a regular croissant and an almond croissant and they were both to die for. The almond croissant was huge and served in a dog bowl which was a cute added touch. Pretty small place, but I worked here for a couple hours and had no issues getting a seat and connecting to the wifi. If I lived closer this might be my everyday spot for that almond croissant! read more

I think because this coffee shop is trendy way too many people come here cause it was packed and kinda hard to take it in, but other than that I liked the vibes and the baristas were killing it pumping drinks out with only two of them there. Thanking my lucky stars that Ludlow opened up in our area! Gone are the days that we had to trek all the way up to Intelligentsia for a respectable cup of coffee. Ludlow fits the bill perfectly, and we have become regulars. The ambiance is so adorable and unique, love the decor and the dark green walls. Service is super friendly and fast. My favorites are the horchata latte (tasty hot or iced) and nut danish. My husband enjoys a simple cappuccino and their plain croissant. He particularly likes their cool La Marzocco model. read more

This is truly the most adorable coffee shop. I love the dark green interior with portraits of dignified dogs and old-timer music. Perfect place to journal and read! There's also a commitment to donate 50% of profits towards Friends of Chicago Animal Care & Control (FCACC). I got the horchata latte with a combination of rice and oat milk, chai concentrate, vanilla, cinnamon, and two espresso shots (thank you to the barista for the detailed explanation!). This is my favorite coffee shop in Chicago. I am a student in Hyde Park (with no car) and I make a trip once every week or two hp to Lincoln Park just to have some sweet sweet time at Ludlow. The owner, Naji, always tells me he's gonna make me an honorary sponsor or something because I am always bringing a new friend, but this promise has yet to come to fruition... no hard feelings though. Coffee is delicious, ambiance is delightful. Gets crowded on the weekends but the staff always gives you and your drink the attention you deserve;) Cant say enough good things! My partner got a horchata late which really stole the show, by far one of my favorite drinks to date. It has vanilla and cinnamon and instead of normal milk it has rice milk in it! Genius!! I also got an iced matcha made with real matcha sourced by a local company which was also very good. The barista was friendly and knowledgeable which is always nice. A hidden gem! The coffee is delicious and all the pastries I've tried are buttery and flakey. The dog theme is so much fun and it has a cozy, inviting feel. I've worked from here several days and it's the perfect environment for working/studying. There's plenty of charging outlets, the jazz music is relaxing but not overpowering, and the environment is overall just very comfortable. I've noticed that a lot of the customers are regulars and know the baristas by name and vice versa. The others in the area have a nice atmosphere, no doubt, but the coffee beans are just OK. The atmosphere and coffee here are both fabulous. Dan is the ideal barista, the guy locals want to greet each morning for their cup of latte. The space inside is tight, with perimetrical seating available. Mocha latte- 5! Service and ambiance- 5+ To the owner, Naji, please consider introducing cardamom rose lattes similar to those available at few other cafes (Ipsento, Oromo). Highly recommend. read more

Love this new local coffee shop! I'm always on the lookout for a good independently owned coffee shop and this is at the top of my list. The iced coffee is amazing - the flavor has a slight sweetness to it which sets it apart from a lot of other brews I've had. The inside is small but has plenty of seating, so a great place to get studying/work done (plus free - reliable - wifi). The icing on the cake is that their mission is to support local shelter dogs - 50% of sales on their merchandise goes to Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. I've been anticipating the opening of this shop for months now and finally it is here!! The inside is as charming as I had hoped with antique-esque light fixtures and framed dog portraits. The inside is a dark green, which may be a bold choice for a city that tends to be so gloomy, but it is a beautiful color. There are a couple of tables outside for seating and plenty of bar seating along the inside. I purchased their single origin iced coffee with soy milk. I considered giving four stars because I was charged almost a dollar for soy milk as a milk beverage instead of the normal system. I've worked for two coffee shops and you do not charge for milk added to coffee if it's just a topping- the up charge is when you are making a milk based beverage. I'm hoping it's a rookie mistake and giving five stars because I'm excited about a new and small owned biz on the block and because the barista and owner (I assume) were friendly and welcoming. They also allow service/support animals which is great because having people question me only to leave us both a little uncomfortable with the encounter is getting old. I have been to Ludlow's twice. The first time was when my boyfriend and I were looking for a coffee shop to try out in the area. Yelp led us to Ludlow's - and I am so happy it did! I got the honey oatmilk latte (hot). That is my go to drink whenever I try a new place out and this did not dissappoint! It was perfectly balanced and flavorful. I find many places go overboard on the honey. The second time I visited Ludlow's was with two friends. I got the honey oatmilk latte again. My friends each got the matcha latte unsweetened. They finished their lattes and loved the latte art, but said they would definitely get it sweetened next time. The matcha alone was a bit bitter. This is a nice place to get some work done. It has a cozy vibe. Definitely check it out - they also support dog adoption, with a poster of puppies and dogs up for adoption and were giving out cute stickers when I was there. This is now my go to coffee shop to read a book or finish tasks. The second I entered the space, I no longer hear the loud noise Clark traffic. The ambiance is great: quiet, cozy, and a hint of what Chicago downtown coffeeshop has-a type of elegance. The coffee (like all the independent coffee shops) is on the pricier side, but I would pay for it for the space and time spent here. I often get Matcha latte in a glass cup. They do make good coffee! I high recommend to check it out if you'd like a quite space to work but did not want to pay for the coworking space. read more

They gave me a free sticker that will go on my guitar case. Great place however it wouldn't be my go to. Too small. I'd feel weird taking up one of the few spots for a few hours working remotely with laptop in tow. Such a cute coffee shop! It has the look/feel of an old English pub but instead of pints of beer you can get your pints of coffee! My iced latte was delicious and I was super happy to see they had a couple of gluten free pastries available too! (They also had gluten-full ones that looked yummy but those aren't for me ;-)) The walls are decorated with 'fancy' CACC alums. Really cool that they are donating some of the profits from their merchandise sales to help the pups!! Both the owners (husband & wife) were in while I was there- very nice people! Consistently good coffee. I love the concept of this cafe and the fact that they're all about shelter dogs because shelter dogs rule. The space is small and can get crowded at times, but they have a few seats outside. 5 stars because the coffee from here was spot on! Baristas were so kind and welcoming I felt very comfortable coming in which is always a plus :). I got the latte with oat milk and no joke-it was perfectly balanced. A rich full bodied espresso that wasn't too bitter combined with the perfect ratio of creamy steamed oat milk was so delicious. I got it with the raspberry beignet which was soft and tart and will definitely try the almond croissant next time. There are plenty of outlets everywhere and the light is dim so it seems like this would be a fantastic place to come in and study too. read more
