I had my wedding dress altered with Ludmilla Couture. I dropped off my dress, had a second fitting and a final try on before taking it home. At my first visit I showed them a picture of how I wanted the draping to be done and they seemed confident by saying they would do it like another dress they had done which was the same style as mine. She even had me text the image so she could refer to it. At the second fitting I expressed that the draping wasn't laying as imagined. I was told that's just how the fabric moves. While the dress moved with me, there are several photos I have seen of my same dress that didn't have the issue. At the final fitting it still was bothering me and I asked if it could just be pinned down somehow. I was told that wasn't possible because it would rip. I took the dress home after paying a hefty price for the draping, hemming, and bustle. Looking at pictures of my dress in the day it is still gorgeous but just not the vision I had in mind. I just wish my concerns were addressed and that they did the draping as I requested or at least admitted that it was something they couldn't do and I would've had it done elsewhere. Ludmilla and her team are wonderful. I had my wedding in the middle of the pandemic. I had originally cancelled everything then decided to go through with a small backyard ceremony just two weeks before. She pulled through last minute and was so professional and mindful of safety. When I first met Ludmilla she was quite stern and a bit short. Don't let that fool you or turn you away. She is a sweetheart and is very serious about her work. My dress fit perfectly! She even worked with a dry cleaner to have it cleaned and delivered to my house. When I left her studio after my last fitting I got in a pretty bad car accident just a few meters away from her building. She ran outside, brought water, hugged me, and kept checking in to see if I was okay. She was so sweet and made sure to exclaim to everyone that my wedding was next week. It was a moment of lightness when I was really scared. On top of all that, I noticed at that last fitting that she and her team were making masks. Dropped off a dress here late Friday as they were closing and asked for a price quote. I needed a simple alteration, taking in the sides and back of a vintage dress in an otherwise perfect condition that had too much fabric. After pinning it the woman then said the owner could call me for the price on Monday. I wish she would've said that beforehand. Didn't receive a call until Tuesday and was quoted $70. Beware of bad attitude. I wish I could give zero stars. Really. I was recommended to Ludmilla from Loho Bride across the street - I had a beautiful gown with some beading and needed it tightened in the front. Not a tough job - they ensured me it could be done and she was the absolute best person to bring it to. I brought my dress into Ludmilla 2 months before my wedding date to get started - she turned me away and told me I would be "losing more weight" and it was a "waste of time" to alter it. I trusted her, after all the good things Loho said about her why wouldn't I! I push and push for an appointment about 6 weeks to go from my wedding - I made an appointment - after telling her what I'd like done she says it's not possible. Over and over again. "It's not possible, it's not possible - "will look bad" and then says to come back and she will see what she can do. I come back after calling her 4+ times and leaving MULTIPLE voicemails for this person, I make my next appointment and don't you worry - she had double booked me. Another girl is getting her dresses hemmed for another wedding. Ludmilla is short with me, not paying attention, has me put on my dress and honestly, it looked the same. She then assures me she just needs to make one more tweak, and then I can pick it up. So finally, my mother flies in and we are ready to pick up the dress. I am hesitant but hopeful she had gotten it right. I get there and put the dress on and I kid you not, it looks the exact same as it did when I got it the first time. Furthermore, Ludmilla kept yapping on and on about how busy she was for the Emmy's - interrupted our appointment multiple times for couriers and bragging about other clients. My dress was completely baggy, not altered, and was nothing like what I wanted. I was shocked. Furthermore, this woman charged me $382 for nothing - I was so flabergasted I just had to pay and leave. I had a second dress there to get altered which I just picked up, and I let her know how unhappy I was with her service and that I needed to take my dress to another person. Do you know how she responds? Not apologetic, not sensitive to the fact that I had to take my dress in a week before my wedding - none of that. She took the time to call me rude, tell me I was never welcome at Ludmilla again, and that I was a horrible person and "good luck to me". I will tell every single person I can about her manner and attitude. The lack of patience and customer service is appalling - and I'm shocked she has the clients she does. It's very clear she puts more energy into the D list celebrities that bring their dresses here rather than real people and brides. I have never had a worst experience in my life than with this woman. Very glad that it is over. *I have taken my dress to a very very lovely seamstress who accommodated all my simple changes I wanted to make for my dress in 3 days, and told me they were easy to fix and that the previous alterations person barely did any work. I took my wedding jumpsuit here on a recommendation by LOHO Bride and I am now having to take it to another tailor to fix the mistakes she made (un-even hem lines that we asked her 3 times correct and the lining not taken in properly so it's bunching at the seems) and I have to get it dry cleaned because they gave it back to me with dirt lines around the entire bottom of the pants. I can't speak to the work that Ludmila performs, since I didn't end up leaving my dress there, but I can speak to the bizarre encounter and unfriendly service I received from her team. I arrived at 4:55pm to get a dress tailored. As soon as I walked in, there was no one in sight, then a lady appeared and I asked her if I could get a dress hemmed shorter along with the sleeves. She said they were closed and we both looked at the clock on their wall that said 4:55. I told her that I thought they closed at 5pm and then asked if I couldn't be seen those last 5 minutes just to have the dress pinned. She said rush wasn't possible, but I told her I didn't need it rushed and she said it would be fine. All the while, she's talking in a foreign language to another woman, which as a bilingual person, I find to be rude to do to others, but that's my opinion. So, the other woman pins it in the areas I needed it pinned, which took all but 3 minutes total. Still, they're looking at me and talking to each other in their native language. When we're done, they bring me a piece of scrap paper and tell me to write my name and phone number on the back then walk away in to separate rooms and leave me alone in the lobby area. I tell them I'm done and they just tell me to leave my dress on the waiting area chair with the paper I wrote my name on and said I should call the next day to talk to the owner about cost and ready date. Already feeling uncomfortable, I found it super unprofessional to leave a garment in a pile- not even hung- on a chair with a piece of scrap paper. So I tell them that I don't feel comfortable doing it and say I'll just come back the next day when the owner is present. One lady gets upset and says that she'll need to take out all the pins and the other says they're "appointment only". I told her that I had no idea they were appointment only and said she should've communicated that to me from the beginning. She takes my dress, starts taking out all the pins and then hands me my dress. I headed out, probably never to return. Beware you need an appointment before visiting otherwise, its likely you won't be given decent service. read more

Ludmila and her girls are amazing. They are so good, so thorough, and are fast (except don't expect to get your stuff fast during award season because every red carpet event goes to her to get last minute alterations because she is GOOD). Ludmila knows how fabrics work and knows how to avoid ripping delicate silks (I bring her a lot of vintage stuff and she is always able to alter it even though she cautions me about these old fragile materials... Yet she always pulls through!) She's a bit expensive, but if you want to make sure that you're getting you alteration right and done perfectly, she is worth the investment. As a blogger I am very apprehensive as to where I take my clothing for alterations. I am 5 feet tall and usually have to alter 75% of my purchases. I've lived in LA for 7 years now and have been searching for the past 6 years for a tailor that I feel comfortable doing all of my alterations. As previously mentioned, I've now had a few vintage pieces copied by Ludmilla - including one silk jacket that was falling apart and intricately designed. I brought them in, we talked about which fabrics would be back and, afterI made a trip to International for the fabrics, buttons, etc that I wanted, she got down to it. Within a week I was trying on the muslin samples, she tweaked a few details and, within another week I had finished pieces! I'm very, very happy with the jacket, shirts and dress. Give no weight to the previous review. Ludmila is one of the best seamstress' in Los Angeles. I have been a wardrobe stylist for 10 years and have been working with Ludmila for ages. She is able to pattern draft and turn around complicated items, even suits in an incredible amount of time. She even made a suit for Eva Longoria in 48 hours!!!!!!!! Amazing. She is always professional and does a fabulous job. I have had her come on-set and work with celebrities and she is always a pleasure to have do the work. If someone had ever told me that I would be driving 120 miles from San Diego to LA just for alterations, I would've laughed in their face. Now here I am taking all my designer clothes - Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and such to Ludmila Couture for a few years now. Truth be told, when it comes to clothing alterations, I am a tough customer. For years after moving to California from NYC, I was looking for a tailor who had the taste and skills to handle couture as well as knew what comprises good customer service. And every time I would take my new purchase to a local tailor - no matter how much I paid - the outcome would end up being a huge disappointment. When a friend of mine from LA suggested bringing a piece or two to her tailor, Ludmila, I was really skeptical. Finally out of desperation, I took a new Fuzzi dress with me the next time I was visiting my friend in LA. This lined dress was made of very delicate synthetic fabric. It needed to be taken in and slightly shortened, and ready by the time I had to drive back home. When I returned to the shop a few hours later, I was prepared to put another sad "check" in that old "oh well" box... However to my complete astonishment, not only was the dress ready and waiting but it fit like a glove! Have I mentioned the quite reasonable charge and Ludmila's amazing attitude to match?
