I first went to patterns world because of the high ratings. After dealing with this company I'm in disbelief on how this company has so many 5 stars. When I first met with them they seemed very professional, they sat down with me and took notes. I was very specific about my pattern and showed them the sample, and told them specifically what part of the pattern they were not to modify in any way. A few days later I go down to pick up the pattern and they modified the part of the pattern I told them not to modify, I specially told them only modify the bottom portion but they modified the top and bottom portion instead! I kept my composure and told them my sample is non-functional with the modification and it needed to be fixed. I expressed to them it was not my fault and want the sample modified correctly with the top part not modified as I specially instructed them originally. They told me the modification to the sample would cost me an additional $50 to basically fix their mistake! I told them I don't feel comfortable having to pay an additional $50 to fix something that was not my fault. I asked them if they could meet me in the middle or give me some kind of break on the price, she said $40 I said fine. I asked her how long it would take to fix the sample she told me 1 day and it would not be an issue, she said it would be a lot faster than it took to make the original pattern and sample. The next day I go downtown to meet with them and they assured me don't worry we will have this sample fixed and ready tomorrow! I had 2 people tell me tomorrow 1 person on the phone and another in person. When I get home I get a Recap email and it said basically sorry we are swamped right now and can't fix your sample until mid next week!!! So basically they lied to me and wanted me to wait another week I assume this is some kind of shady punishment for getting a $10 discount on the repair job they messed up! I emailed them back telling them I desperately need the fixed sample ready this week like you promised because I will be way behind on production if not. They refused to accommodate me with the modified sample and told me I had to wait. I told them I will take my business elsewhere because of them being shady about the time. I mean how do you go from it's not in issue at all to modify the sample we will have it done next day to having me wait over a week? When I came by the next day to pick up my pattern and the messed up sample they basically refused to fix, the girl who gave me my stuff you could tell she was told to lie about why I have to wait a week for them to fix my sample. Something pissed off the owner I have no idea what it is because they would rather lie to me than tell me the real issue! It's amazing how a company who knowingly promised a customer next day service on the sample refuse to accommodate them and rather have them leave and go somewhere else unhappy! I also could not trust this company with my production because if they are being shady about fixing a 1 piece sample how would they treat me making 100 piece production? FYI I didn't tear the pattern!!! The pattern was cut in half before I received it I didn't do it and why in the world would I tear my own pattern??? Update 8-20 My reply to Kristines reply I didn't request next day you and your coworker told me next day and I agreed! Very professional calling someone paranoid when they don't take elevators! Some people don't take elevators just like some people don't go on airplanes! I didn't leave the wrong pattern I left the right pattern I wanted modified you guys just ignored my instructions and modified the part of the pattern I asked you guys to leave alone which was the top portion! I didn't want a FREE sample I paid you for the sample I didn't feel I should be required to pay a additional $50 to correct your mistake you guys made by ignoring my instructions! I never told you I like the sample why would I tell you I like the sample and then ask you to fix it? I took the modified pattern to my manufacturer and they said the foam part of the pattern was sloppy! read more

I am not one to write reviews but this was such a wonderful process that I felt compelled to do a shout out! I had been looking for a seamstress to make me a fabulous dress. I searched and found (via Google, I confess) Kristina who runs the show at Patterns World Inc. I called and she called me back ASAP and guided me through the course of creating a beautiful dress of my own design. I had an idea, a picture or two and the fabric but this could not have been manifested without the careful attention of all the gals on the team! Hurray for the team! Everyone on the team, pattern maker, sewer and of course, Kristina, were involved! I went for one fitting and within days (of course there was a time constraint!) I was given my one of a kind, super gorgeous, dress! I was the belle of the ball and now have a dazzling frock for many other occasions to come. read more

This place is truly the best shop I've ever gone to for costume making! I've had several complicated costumes made from sophisticated cut and sew into the body of costume (not top snitched) to capes, cowls and accessories. They do amazing work and pay close attention to detail. I am extremely particular on the small stuff, but they've got me beat with suggestions and pointing out things I might have otherwise missed. But nothing beats their attitude! It is positive and uplifting, the kindest most constructive criticism to ensure your projects come out top notch! I've been to other places where the attitude is so nasty, you wish you never walked in the door. But the Patterns World experience is warm, professional and nurturing. I was pinning a lot of hope on these company cos they seem to have a lot of experience and good review but ended up being disappointed. Yes the sewing and workmanship is good - however I have ordered a jacket that, I specifically asked, is in XL size, the jacket ended up being 2.5 inch smaller on the outside - with padding on the inside it became 4 inch smaller!!! THAT is not professional at all. This jacket was meant for a renounced music artist to wear on stage. When he tried it on and it was too small - he asked who made this? I had to tell them and he let out a slight laugh. How embarrassing. Afterwards I spoke to Tanya and she was rather defensive - said the material shrunk - I asked around for clothing industry people's opinion and they said that first off - material don't usually shrink THAT much - and second - they should have allowed for padding. Even though Tanya said, reluctantly, that I can buy additional material - bring it back and they will resew it - but that means I have to pay for material and printing again - and the opportunity to have a renounced music artist wearing it on stage is lost - my client was not happy and it made me look bad. I would not recommend this company to any of my contacts. read more

As a student of ArtCenter College of Design, I had a project that needed exceptional attention to detail and had a very tight time frame. Patterns World and Kristine did an amazing job on my project and blew away my expectations. This was a passion project of mine and I was very apprehensive of outsourcing it (I may be a little bit of a control freak), but Patterns World put all of my fears to rest and allowed me to focus on other things while they completed the garment. From start to finish they took charge of the project and ensured that my vision was fulfilled. The end result was fantastic and delivered right on time. Anyone that is looking for a place to outsource their projects should definitely give Patterns World a call or email.
