This is a nice Mexican diner that has ample seating and open dining area. They have great brunch items and lunch specials. My particular favorite is the Huevos Rancheros. Just the perfect portion with the right amount of gooey cheese and over medium eggs. The hash browns are also crisped to perfection! Can't complain about the service. Food comes out quick and everything is very hot once you get it. They don't bring the check out to you, so make sure you go to the register towards the back near the kitchen to get your bill settled. read more

The service is great. The food is just average. The ambiance is clean, updated, and inviting. This is basically Kristy's (on China Lake Blvd) with updated interior. Food tastes exactly the same. The real disappointment during this meal was the eggs Benedict-- one of the eggs was severely overcooked, which defeats the purpose of even ordering this dish. I think a chef, or even a cook, should know this. Everything is overpriced, but especially the slice of banana cream pie at $7.95. Things I liked: the garlic toast, the busser did a great job, the bill was dropped on our table, and when I put my debit card on the bill, the busser kindly took it up to the register and rang me up. The restaurant stinks like dirty mop water, and the floor is always extremely sticky. If you're looking for the best homemade pies in town handmade this is the place to go good people good crowd keep up with your sports on TV but the food also is quite the best great enchiladas moist tender not dry. I've been here 4 times. I enjoyed the food each time. I really like their enchilada sauce. My most recent trip was a few days ago, I got the Ortega Beef Sandwich and it was really good, beef was juicy and plenty of ortega pepper. The sourdough bread had a little more grease than I like but I know a lot of people like their sandwiches heavily buttered. The interior is a bit older but they have plenty of tables and room. It is often seat yourself. One time I had pretty poor service(mostly just ignored and food took forever) but the most recent time I went, we had really good service. My friends and colleagues had ordered tea and coffee and servers checked regularly if they needed top offs. Our waters were kept full. One thing that really stood out to me is that my friend didn't like her dish, the fish and chips, but she really doesn't like complaining about anything. The waitress noticed she had barely touched her plate and immediately tried to make it right. I thought that was really thoughtful that the waitress was perceptive enough to tell she didn't like her meal but that she didn't want to complain and still worked to make it right. So that was pretty exceptional customer service. read more

The food is excellent and very tasty. Mexican dishes ,Street Tacos $1.90ea. Served with/sautéd Onions & sliced jalapeños on the side. My main dish that I love is homemade roast beef mash potatoes and gravy smothered on top. I always ask for a double gravy, plus you get a big Texas toast grilled. Now forget everything else and don't forget to order the homemade Banana Cream pie or chocolate pie. The owner makes the best pies in Ridgecrest Ca. Today is Thanksgiving and they charged nearly $30 for one plate of food and soup or salad. Last year Roxanne's charged $25 and it was an all you can eat with a huge selection, better food, and way better service. Sadly, they did not offer Thanksgiving this year. So we had to settle for Lugo's. They were understaffed today, the waitress forgot to get me a condiment, and the soda was flat. I am boycotting Lugo's from now on. read more

I ate there recently and the food was fine and I got a Cobb salad there to take to work. The Cobb salad was very good and the next week I called for a take out of a Cobb salad about 40 min before I was to come get it. I gave them the approx time that I would pick it up. I got there about 5 minutes before the time to pick up my salad and they made me wait and wait and wait and wait. 45 min AFTER I got there they finally had my salad ready. It made me late to work. Food was great; I had breakfast. Chili verde omelette was a little plain but very delicious. The biscuits here are soo so good. Kayden the host was very polite and professional as well as the staff. I'm pleased and would recommend this spot to anyone. It's nice when they have enough help to make sure you are made comfortable; as well as being greeted with enthusiasm and not made to feel like you're bothering them. We enjoy this little hole in the wall restaurant...everything we've ever eaten is delicious...tonight I ordered off the menu in that they don't have a bean and cheese burrito listed...but I asked and they made it for me!!! The verde sauce was awesome and just spicy enough to let you know it's here...my husband loves to order their chicken quesadilla...it's filling and delicious...he says it's the best we've had in town...not the best Mexican we've ever eaten but well worth the price...to shake it up every now and again he'll get their Cobb Salad and I will get the pastrami...both are just as delicious...all in all a good place to eat... read more

The food was delicious. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas and I was surprised as how juicy the breast meat was. It looked delicious too. The flavor was very good, light, not salty and a little sweet. I ordered molcajete and it was good too. It wasn't too spicy so I was able to enjoy it more. They give you a few grilled jalapeños in case you want a little more kick. I had same dish at el steak house and couldn't enjoy it as much because it was too spicy and it was the least spicy. The steak at el steak is better because I can get medium rare but the chicken was dried. Two days ago, we sat for 20 minutes as servers walked right past us not even making eye contact. I finally got up and got menus for us. We ordered from this restaurant two of the past three Sundays. The food was awful and the service for take away was lousy. We thought it was just an off day the first Sunday. Turns out it was not a fluke because the food we ordered today was even worse and not edible. We ended up throwing it out. The roast beef was so tough and fatty it was disgusting. The mashed potatoes were cold and the gravy looked like gelatin. The vegetables were over cooked and mushy. The Fettuccine was cold and the sauce watery. Even the garlic bread was soggy. The service provider left our salads in a bag with the fettuccine in the same bag on the counter for well over 10 minutes before giving me our order. Consequently, the salads were wilted and the fettuccine was cold. I learned my lesson and will not order here again. read more

Not a fan what so ever. Meat is way over cooked, their food is bland, their salsa tasts store bought, and the overall feel was just unsettling. As we sat down we already had someone next to us trying to get his money back because his steak was eay overdone. I had high hopes our meal would come out good and I was severely let down. As sad as it is that this restaurant has been around for awhile and it's a Hispanic restaurant it tasts nothing of a great traditional Hispanic meal. It has definitely gone down hill. Needs an update, new menu, new staff, and somebody to come in and show them how real food is cooked. Get rid of those colored chips too and bring in some real ones. Takes only minutes to cut tortillas and fry them. I hope this restaurant can pull it together or I dont see it open in the next year or two. read more

I really wanted to like Lugo's, and after visiting several times, I just can't. I have visited a hand ful of times over the last couple of years, each and every time I just have a horrible experience. The food taste like microwave meals, and if I wanted a microwave meal, i would save my money and just go to the grocery stores frozen section! We went as a small group, I ordered Turkey and stuffing Thanksgiving-esque type dinner. It was horrible. I ate it anyways because I didnt really have time to complain because of the slow service. The next time i went, as a large group, I ordered a chili cheese baked potato. My thought was it was after 4 PM, potatoes should have been made already and chili should also already be prepared. How hard could this really be? As a large group of 9, my potato was the last one out. It wasn't just the last out that made me irritated, but the fact was my meal was completely forgotten about. I went to find the waitress and got the typical 'I am so sorry, we are really busy.' I let it go and decided i would just eat at the theater. As she bring us our check she also brought out the cold potato and charged for it. She had explained she forgot I had ordered the potato.. Really seriously after I asked you multiple times? I have visited one final time, recently and had ok service from our waiter but couldn't get passed the fact that my toddlers food was forgotten about this time. read more

I would hope ownership would read this review. The food at lugos is good but the service is horrible. This is about the 4th time in a row we've had slow service. This restaurant does great business. There is no reason to have poor service. They don't have enough help. We had to constantly flag down a server or a busboy to get anything. If we hadn't flagged the server down we would have waited a half hour to order. We are loyal customers but if things don't improve my party won't come back. read more
