It's a country diner, with booth seating and 50s oldies playing softly in the background. We were seated promptly and drink order taken right away. Coffee has free refills. I had the Country Benedict, which is a sausage patty and an egg on top of a biscuit and covered with gravy, served with hash browns. The egg was over easy, and the yolk, when broken, blended deliciously with the gravy. The hash browns were crisp and fresh - very good. The biscuit was buttered, which was a pleasant surprise. They pay attention to small details like that here. Mr. P enjoyed his burger, which came with fresh onions, tomato and lettuce on a specialty bun. The burger was smashed, yet very juicy. His fries were golden brown crisp and cut thick. He liked them a lot. This was easily the best diner breakfast I've had in a long while. Looking forward to stopping in again when I'm nearby in the future. I am full and happy.

3.5. The food is bland and sometimes pretty disappointing. The service is very pleasant, and I like the cozy atmosphere. It's difficult to give an accurate rating for this place because my kids and I like coming here, but their recipes are just pathetic. On top of that, you're paying more than you should for the quality and flavor, which really shouldn't be happening. Tonight we tried the fettuccine alfredo, and it was flavorless. Alfredo sauce is so easy to make from scratch at home and is phenomenal with so few ingredients. The two items that never let us down are the club sandwich and the burgers. Those are always good. I wish they would improve.

This is a delightful family diner located in downtown Ridgecrest. The service is always epic and the food amazing. It's not a fancy place, but it's not meant to be. Good cooking for a great price. I have never left this restaurant without a bunch of leftovers...! Their portions are ginormous! Enjoy!

Hungry and felt like I was in the middle of nowhere (Ridgecrest is pretty small town) ... Yelped the best place to grab a bite to eat and found Kristy's Family diner. Our party of seven was seated fairly quickly and greeted pretty promptly with servers bringing water. Variety of food options, but I was craving a burger. So I ordered an Avocado Burger which came with French fries. Portion size was good for the price and taste pretty decent. I don't recall my waitress's name, but she was friendly and attentive. Restaurant was packed at the time we arrived. Moderately sized free parking lot. Bathrooms are small, could use some work, but at least the toilet flushes and there was toilet paper. If/whenever driving through Ridgecrest and want to stop for a quick bite, Kristy's Family diner is my bookmark.

Santa Fe chicken was very well executed.

For whatever reason, we'd never been here before. We'd had a long day, and Kristy's is walking distance from our favorite motel. So we walked down to get some dinner and were a little surprised that it wasn't as busy as we expected at around 7pm. We loved the old photos on the wall. Hubby walked around and had fun looking at them. The next day, when we were headed out, he pointed out where the Bamboo Hut(?) used to be! When we entered, we weren't sure at first if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait, and a nice gentleman showed up quickly and told us to sit anywhere. Our server popped by to let us know the specials and took our order. The food arrived promptly and was well executed. We both chose the soup. It was very tasty. They said it was "minestrone" but not like any I've ever had. I didn't quibble since I enjoyed it. It was slightly on the salty side but again, it was tasty and enjoyable. I had the Santa Fe chicken. The grilled chicken breast was moist on the inside, had just the right amount of cheese and salsa on top, and was really pleasant. There were two breasts but I could only finish one since it was later, we were tired, and didn't want to eat too much before bed time. There was also this delicious white corn that was sweet and had a nice herbed butter on it. And I chose the baked potato with sour cream. I was happy. Hubby chose the fried prawns and fries. He also had the corn. He enjoyed his dinner but wished they'd warmed up the cocktail sauce before bringing it out as it was icy cold in the center. So I do recommend them as the food was delicious and the service was attentive. I'd like to try them for breakfast and lunch as well.

Amazing breakfast! Biscuits and gravy are delicious. Daughter ordered breakfast for Father's Day. Every thing arrived hot and on time. I'll be a customer for life! Highly recommend!

Fantastic! Great quality meat (and I'm picky); crunchy and seasoned french fries.

It felt a bit all over the place at first. But the reviews were so strong compared to everything nearby that we decided to try it on our way to Mammoth. When we got there it was pretty quiet, and the owner sat us and took our order himself. He was really friendly and took the time to walk us through the menu and give recommendations. We ended up talking with him quite a bit, and once he explained his background and how his food is influenced by different cultures, the menu started to make a lot more sense. You can tell he really cares about what he's making, and he's very genuine and easy to talk to. We ordered the jerk chicken tacos, the creole pasta, and the soul bird sandwich. I had asked about modifying the sandwich and he mentioned he doesn't really do modifications, which I actually respected. It felt like he really stands behind how each dish is meant to be eaten. The food ended up being really good. The pasta surprised me the most. It looked simple at first, but it was creamy, slightly peppery, and really flavorful without feeling heavy. The beef had a nice char that added a lot. The jerk chicken tacos were also really good, super juicy and flavorful, and everything worked well together. The habanero sauce wasn't very spicy, more on the sweeter side, but it complemented the dish well. There was a small mix-up with my sandwich at first, but he caught it right away, fixed it, and even let us keep the first one. Both versions were good, but the one with pickles had a better balance. The tang really pulled everything together. We ended up finishing everything, which we weren't planning on. Overall, it was just a really good experience. Good food, and a really nice conversation with the owner that made the whole visit feel more personal. We actually wanted to stop by again on our way back, but they were closed. I wish we lived closer because we'd definitely come back. It's a spot that deserves more attention.

Just gotta drop a star because our waitress was a bit short and irritable, and the food was really nothing crazy amazing. Ended up having the shrimp and lobster fries appetizer which was pretty yummy, the shrimp on it is the best part. Even the kids loved the fries and ended up also splitting a chicken sandwich that was pretty basic, but cooked well and had a tasty bun. Wife and I split a pastrami burger, and gotta say the pastrami was really good, that was a great choice. It had a bunch of creamy cheese sauce on it as well and was gone in seconds. Ambiance was fine, place was really clean, and service was SUPER QUICK. One critique is when we asked for extra plates to split out food, the waitress told us they were out of plates because they used them all on the party that was in there. This was at max a party of 10, and the restaurant had to only have 10 more people in it total. Kinda weird to be out of plates at 20% capacity... she did end up getting us additional "trays" to use. Totally fine, just a bit odd. All in all, if you need some quick grub, stop in here on your way through. Price was pretty fair, 2 burgers, and an appetizer with ice teas for $50. Decent.
