Such a cute and quaint deli! This is a family run deli in downtown Martinez with a very unique variety of sodas and deli sandwiches. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was delicious. The sandwich is hefty and is worth trying. This was a sandwich from the menu but they also have an option of creating your own deli sandwich to your liking which I am curious to try in my next visit. I was working in the area and I am always down for a sandwich. Stopped in built my own sandwich, which was fantastic, and made a note in my head to stop by again when in the area. Next time I came by I ordered what I got last time but this time to go. When I got home they had royally screwed up the sandwich, hey it happens. Next time I came in they screwed it up again. The last time I went in there I decided I would just get the #1 (Luigi's Italian) as is instead of making a custom order. Once again messed up. I want to like this place so bad because it's your classic Italian deli with all types of chips and sodas to choose from but you can tell the ingredients are kind of cheap. The prices definitely don't match the quality at all. I ordered a turkey and salami, chips and a soda.. $24. The reason for giving it 3 stars doesn't have to go with the food but more about the service and the ambiance. Fun place to try I guess but a lot of good sandwiches for way less than the $15 they're charging. I enjoy supporting small businesses but you're really better off going to Nob Hill for $9, better quality and not all bread. read more

Let me first say that I understand this quarantine thing we are going through is difficult on food businesses and family businesses. That being said, having food served that has gone bad is NEVER and excuse! I ordered 2 sandwiches for my husband and I. He got the Italian (I was alright, nothing to scream home about). I got the smoked turkey sandwich. We ordered on yelp which described the sandwich I ordered as smoked turkey, Gouda, lettuce, tomato, and onion no sauce listed. Let's just say that is NOT what I got! I asked for pesto mayo and avocado but Instead I got BBQ sauce and the baby poop green schmear which I'm assuming is avocado....it tasted tangy and way past it's date. Besides getting pickles in lieu of any veggies on my sandwich I had an unexpected and horrifically disgusting addition to my sandwich. Bacon. Now bacon can be a delicious additive to a lovely sandwich. I love bacon! But not when it has gone bad. Not only did I not order bacon on my sandwich (halal and kosher beware!!!) but it was rotten and tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for at least a month!!! When I took a bite of my sandwich and tasted that my involuntary reflexes made me spit it out immediately without giving it a single thought. Unfortunately my sandwich was completely inedible! And was hands down one of the worst sandwiches I've had in my life! I love to patronize family businesses and local shops, but I am NEVER eating here again! I really hope I do not get sick! My husband was gracious enough to share his sandwich with me which was only "meh". He got the Italian BTW. If you want hidden rotten meat on a sandwich that is nothing like what you ordered then I suggest this place. Only been here once, but I already love this place. Luigi is friendly and helpful. His deli has a huge variety of sodas and drinks. With several kinds of breads, many toppings, and a wide variety of cheeses and condiments, you can try a different sandwich every day of the year and still not get every combination. My girlfriend and I each ordered a design-your-own sandwich. Both were delicious. Service is quick. Prices are reasonable. Sandwiches came with chips, a drink from the fountain, and a cookie. This is a deli that rivals my regular sandwich shop in amazingly delicious food. I had the #51 and it was fantastic. They have a pretty varied selection to choose from and the staff was very nice and super quick! This is also the only place I've ever managed to find not only California Raspberry glass bottle Coca-Cola, but Georgia Peach glass bottle Coca-Cola! And that's just the two I found on the giant wrap around WALL they have here of soda! I happened to come in on a slower day so we had our pick of the deli tables and there were quite a few larger ones, so it's nice to know I wouldn't have to fight for a table if I went in and it was busy. It was okay. Liked the seating outside after the homeless guy gave up his table. Great spot to linger in the shade cool after a long walk in the hot sun. Street parking so I can imagine that could be an issue. We both ordered daily specials. I got the poor boy sandwich. Roll it was made on was solid and good. Very sweet barbeque sauce got a bit messy and flavors lacked complexity so I got tired of it early. Maybe if I had left more of the jalapeno on there it would have made a difference. Low B at best. Wife got the Asian chicken salad. It was prepared late, week after my sandwich. Not too much chicken and, with mandarin orange slices from a can, flavor was not inspiring. They have a fantastic selection of bottled soda which I failed to take advantage of. Instead I got the fountain soda which lacked syrup and carbonation. I wanted to like this place. The sandwiches were pretty good, with many different options to choose from. However, the cashier tricked us into getting a combo meal when we didn't know any better. He specifically told us that our sandwiches came with a drink and chips, multiple times. Since we hadn't been there before, we believed him and grabbed the items. I ordered a #7 via door dash( Sunday 7/14) . My order showed up Completely wrong, I called to inform the guy. He argued with me, I asked him if he would like me to bring it in, he said yes. I did, he still continued to argue with me in regards of the order , I showed him what is online is completely different then what is at the store. He said that is not my problem ma'am . I asked him for a refund , he said he couldn't because of door dash, I understand. He said he would make another sandwich, I said no thank you, I would like a gift card or to talk with a manager.
