My sweet potato of a boy has somehow decided that cheese tortellini is the epitome of fine dining, and in the interest of not having to cook too often, we've been on a quest to find the best tortellini in town. I thought the "soup of the day: cheese tortellini" sign...was a joke like "soup of the day: beer". No, that's really the soup option. Anyway, this one was close to his school, had a tortellini entree, and looked pretty good, so we decided to give it a whirl. We've gotten the last walk-in table twice now, at 5:45 pm. Which really gives me the warm fuzzies. It's a tiny space that seats maybe 20 folks; it's proud, not upscale, but not run down and reasonably busy. It's slightly claustrophobic, but in a way that implies they're prioritizing space for tables. It's the kind of place where you can just feel that the food is gonna be good. The kid got the cheese tortellini on both visits and will do so on every visit in the future for all of eternity. He decided he's not a fan of tortellini in soup form, so I get his soup. He rates the entree somewhere above HEB imported refrigerated variety and somewhere below his most beloved Pesto Restaurante, but I think if we tweak the sauce, we will get it dialed in ok. I've gotten Veal Francese both times, because I'm a monster, and when I see veal on a menu, I can't help myself. It was paired with a salad, and (my kid's) soup, and the entree was served with pasta al dente. Super filling and priced quite reasonably. It was delicious - I loved everything about it. What excellent Italian food. I've had the chicken parm, lasagna and most recently the shrimp scampi with spaghetti. All are delicious. The salads and garlic cheese bread are not to be missed. And so affordable . It's a small place and pretty far off the street but well worth the visit. read more

We made a reservation but the restaurant wasn't busy on Saturday at 11:30. Pasta entrees served with choice of soup or salad. The fresh salad tossed with homemade Italian dressing was the highlight of my lunch. The generous portion of pasta primavera , penne with a medley of broccoli, squash and carrots mixed with a thin butter garlic sauce, needed more flavor. The sauce was so thin it seemed like broth. The thin breadstick, cut at an angle, adorned the plate. I usually enjoy the bread when dining at an Italian restaurant so this was a disappointment. Our waitress was delightful and very attentive. I truly wish I could give this locally owned restaurant 5 stars, it certainly has the potential. Tortellini soup was overpowered by too much black pepper. Chicken Francese was overpowered with way too much lemon! The Chicken Pizzaiola was inedible. This dish had so much red pepper poured on to it that it burnt my lips and tongue. Tiramisu was great (but not made in house) and garlic bread was superb. We got lucky as we showed up on a random Thursday and were immediately seated with no reservations. This place is small but charming. Feels like you're in someone's house as there is maybe like 4 or 5 tables total inside. I could see why you would need a reservation or order take out. Our server was pleasant and the prices were very reasonable, especially for their wine selection. We started with the fried ravioli since we had never tried before. It was crispy, hot and filled with ricotta. Delicious and very filling. It was hard to stop eating them to save room for the actual meal. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and my partner the chicken alfredo. They took approximately 20 minutes to come out and they were both served really hot and seemed made fresh and from scratch. The eggplant parm was good but not the best I've had. It could have used more seasoning. The chicken parm I tried tasted too watery and soupy for me and was also lacking seasoning. I arrived at a smaller, moderately busy restaurant with a dimly lit dining area and cloth covered tables. I was seated and after briefly looking over the menu, which had a decent number of classic options, I opted for a plate of Spaghetti Marinara. The server was pleasant, and Bread was brought out as well as a house salad, both of which were appetizing and paired well. When the spaghetti arrived, I was ready to enjoy it. The sauce was rich, and the pasta noodles were properly cooked - al dente! Overall, I enjoyed my meal and thought the service was acceptable! This is a very charming hole-in-the wall Italian restaurant. I've had lasagna and tortellini pasta with Alfredo sauce, peas and Prosciutto here now and they were both delicious. The lasagna was full of great flavor with tasty Marino sauce and mozzarella cheese. The tortellini were very tender filled with delicious cheese in an Alfredo sauce that was creamy but not overly rich which I enjoyed. The dishes come with your choice of Ceasar's or house salad and the dishes come with small garlic bread sticks. There is parking in the front of the restaurant and seating both inside and outside. They take reservations which I recommend with the limited seating. The price was moderate but less expensive than I was expecting for such decadent food. They do serve wine here as well. A friend had told me about this wonderful Italian Restaurant ( La Sorrentina) and it took me two years to try it, Stupid me. My wife and I went last night and it was amazing. We had the mussels Appetizer, which used green lip mussels. My wife had the Shrimp Frank Sinatra which had Jumbo Shrimp in a vodka sauce with Black Olives and artichokes very good! And I had the Veal Franchise, I'm from the east coast and grew up on this dish, have never been able to find it in SA until now. It was perfect. Lastly our server "Cindy" was amazing and went out of her way to make it a great experience. It took two years to try but we will be back very soon. read more

The place is definitely small with only a few tables, but I think it lends a cozy feel. Tried to walk in for a table, but a large party booked the whole restaurant so no tables were available. It was super tough trying to figure out which was best... but you really can't go wrong with spaghetti, so I think that would be my fave. It was all so delicious, and my boyfriend keeps bugging me about making a reservation next time he's in town so we can dine in and try it all again super fresh! We didn't know you needed a reservation so we just walked in around 5:30pm luckily they had a seat for us. I would say the best seat in the house. Right in the front by the window looking out. It felt like a different space the vibes were right, the music was good. We ordered stuffed mushrooms as our appetizer. I had a delicious glass of wine and my husband had beer. Both our meals were delicious. I highly recommend this place. It did get busy as the night went by. Some people were turned away because they had no reservation. My husband had had lunch in this tiny little restaurant with coworkers a few weeks back. So on our Friday night date night that's where we headed. We didn't have reservations ( they do recommend) but we happen to get there at just the right time when there were only two tables occupied. We were sat down rather quickly and put our order in. We ordered the garlic cheese bread for the appetizer and it was just enough for two people. I tried their chicken francese and my husband ordered the salmon Florentino. Both plates came wonderfully presented. I was pleased that there wasn't so much food as to take home although I know Italians love to feed people! My husband and I will definitely be back and we'll make sure that we have reservations; the restaurant got full rather quickly which isn't hard because I believe there are only about 10-12 tables total. read more

I guess you must make a reservation for this place (we did not know they didn't seat people and reserved all tables for the whole night so I just was surprised). This isn't something I calculated in the review though because it should have been something I inquired about before driving all the way over here. We ended up ordering to go because we have heard great reviews though! So we ordered the chicken parm & chicken francese. I will say that the francese had good flavor; very light and lemony. The pasta however was pretty mushy. I typically prefer an Al dente pasta but maybe they just left it boiling for too long. You can see in the picture it is super fluffy and white color, which just made it taste very dough like. I reallyyyyy wanted to love the chicken parm. I did not unfortunately. The sauce wasn't flavorful, ended up adding my own salt and seasonings when I got home. I ended up liking the calamari red sauce more, which was this spicy, almost arrabiata like sauce. I enjoyed the calamari, but there's just something about the calamari not having all parts of the squid, which is usually how fresh calamari is served (I enjoy the pieces with tentacles rather than the circle lol) -- we got cheese tortellini soup, which I didn't bother posting a picture of because it was just broth. Not a single tortellini in the soup. Now, I see there are hundreds of reviews about this place being super authentic and delicious, but I have to admit this was just lacking everything I expected.
