I'm sure many of you are looking at the reviews of this place and thinking, "a five-star Italian place in Nebraska is probably a two-star rating in a large city." You couldn't be more wrong. Luigi's is a recycled BBQ joint (don't let the outside appearance scare you away). Inside it is 100% Italian goodness. We tried it for the first time on our way through town last week, and times our return trip specifically so that we could hit this place again. The Marinara is so fresh and so so good. The meat sauce and meatballs are perfectly seasoned. Tony's special is appropriately spicy and the Cannolis are the best I have had outside of NYC If you are traveling through Nebraska, or anywhere within a five state radius, take the time to come to Luigi's! read more

On the service side, the waitress brought us salads and then quickly an appetizer and then the entrees came before we had a chance to finish either. The appetizer was bruschetta which was large pieces of warm buttered Italian bread and a small bowl of chopped tomatoes with onion, did not detect garlic or olive oil. Have never had bruschetta like that before. My fettuccine alfredo was actually not bad but my wife's tortellini ala penna had a sauce that had a tomato soup like taste that was not pleasant. What do you expect for Italian in bfe Nebraska. Food is as always amazing. They redecorated which is nice. The marinara is good and luingini is amazing. Only downside is service is slow and they are understaffed probably bc of pandemic and good help is hard to find. Good place to go. read more

Luigi's was a super pleasant surprise! Our server was great and the food came out really hot and delicious. I customized an order, which wasn't a problem at all, and definitely think it should be added to the menu - Sam's special with a pink sauce instead and add shrimp! Super delicious! Hubs and went in on a Saturday night. It was busy, but still plenty of parking and we got seating right away. Host was a bit awkward, but was young and did the job so hey, good enough. Ambiance was much nicer than expected for small town Nebraska... clean and unpretentious. Food was amazing! Tasted very fresh and generous portions. Hubs had lasagna and I had chicken fettuccine with drinks and extra bread the bill came to $35. 10/10 recommend both dishes and the prices can't be beat. Best Italian food on the road between Chicago and Denver! Waitress was very nice. Some drama at the next table over because she made a small mistake, but the Karen blew it out of proportion. I can't review the food because we were never acknowledged or seated. The layout of this place is bizarre, there isn't a clear check in spot and you will never be greeted by the unfriendly staff - they went to great lengths to avoid eye contact. First the location: Luigi's is located at the SW corner of E St. and Southbound Jeffers. If you are coming from the South, take Northbound (Jeffers?) to E St. Turn left and cross the southbound side. As soon as you cross Jeffers turn left into Luigi's parking lot. The decor is a little strange. What is it about corrugated metal that makes it Italian? Our server was prompt and friendly. We ordered the pasta trio and chicken picatta (not on the menu as such but that was no problem). The pasta trio was a hot mess. The three items were baked together in a small dish and it was hard to tell one from the other. The whole thing was covered in burnt cheese. As for the chicken dish, I was expecting chicken breasts over pasta. Instead I got cut up pieces of chicken that were tossed in the pasta at the last minute. The chicken tasted like it had been boiled. It had no lemon flavor at all. On the positive side the warm rolls were very good. We were just passing through NP so we didn't want our leftovers. Our server seemed delighted with that as she takes leftovers home to her dog. She said her dog "really likes the leftovers she brings home". She probably shouldn't have used her dog as a reference as to how good the food was. read more

What a worthy competitor to some of California's best trattorias and ristorantes (e.g., Giuseppe's in San Luis Obispo, Frattelino's in Brea, Sorrento's and Buono's in San Pedro, Original Joe's of Westlake in Daly City)! We ordered the eggplant parmigiana and the seafood primavera--and they were delicious!!! Three of us ate both family style. Without prompting, our waitress, Jessica, worked with the cooks to ensure we got an equal amount of mussels and jumbo shrimp on the latter dish. (Now, that's service!!!) When I explained that we non-Italians cook Italian and are consequently quite picky about that cuisine eaten out (i.e., no Olive Garden, Buca [Puke-Ah] de Beppo, Carino's, and their one-step-above-Chef Boyardee sit-down ilk for us), Jessica told us the cooks come in very early in the morning to start the marinara. She also pointed out each order is created to order with that well-simmered marinara as a base for most--and that the bread is freshly made and baked on Luigi's premises!!! read more

This is the only place in the area to get decent pizza. It's the closest you can get to New York style pizza that I've had since coming to Nebraska. If you like pasta they nail it everytime. It's the only Italian place in town. Hoping it would be legit, it seemed very generic. The pasta was over cooked and broke when my fork touched it. A big No No to Italians. The food was steaming hot, but my guess was that they microwaved it. "WHY?" I had had my plate 15 minutes already and when I moved my chicken...... sauna. We did order a cannoli to share and instead of creamy filling, it felt like grit. I keep hearing how great it is but, because of the one experience, I am iffy on returning. read more

Was heading through North Platte on a trip and was looking for a place to eat. The reviews for this place looked solid, so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the Tour of Italy with Chicken Parm, Lasagne, and Fettucine Alfredo. The meal came with bread and a side salad. The bread was amazing. It was fresh made and warm. When the entree came out I was just hoping for something decent after eating fast food for 2 days straight, but was pleasantly surprised. It was an exceptionally good meal. The lasagne was among the best I have ever had. And the Alfredo sauce was so amazingly tasty. And, I had a second piece of that bread with dinner. Nice job Luigi's! Like our fellow diners that we spoke with, we were passing through on the highway. We prefer to find something local instead of a fast food throw. We loved it. To start, the bread was amazing. I had the eggplant parmesean (and as a vegetarian, itwas great to see several meatless options), and I dreamed about it all night! So, it's a good thing that the portion was so big, because I also had leftovers for breakfast! Another nice thing...we were traveling east, and they are not far east of the time zone change. A 4 for food and 3.5 for decor. This is solid italian . We had a mixed seafood pasta that was a little butter heavy but right on point with pasta cook and spice. Rolls good. Service very good. Decor needs an overhaul. read more

Decided to venture out when the temp was at -7 and the snow had just let up!! We were slightly worried when there were no other cars in the parking lot and even sent my husband in to be sure they were open! So glad we decided to slip and slide our way in. My husband ordered the trio, which was lasagna, alfredo and chicken parm. and he liked all three!! The girls shared a cheese pizza with no teenage complaints. I had the a house salad with "in house" made Italian dressing (amazing dressing!) and spaghetti with meat sauce...yummo! And the cannoli (made in house!) dipped in chocolate is worth going out in the snow anytime :) We will definitely be revisiting Luigi's!! read more

I see a lot of good reviews here, maybe it was just the day but I had one of the worst if not THE worst experience I've ever had at an restaurant. Most restaurants right after you are seated you will be greeted by your waiter/ waitress to come get your drink order and let you look over the menu for a bit, not this one apparently, we waited for a waitress for at least 10 minutes and then when she finally came to get our drink order, we just ordered our entrees too because at that point we were ready. I wasn't too upset about this until she came back with our appetizer and not our drinks. After watching her give 2 tables that came after us their drinks, I was done. I had to walk over to another waitress and in the nicest way possible I asked her if I can get some water, she just said "yea sure" in a very unfriendly tone. We ordered a Fried calamari and it was the worst I've ever had, it was so overly breaded and the calamari was probably frozen unlike what it says on the menu; "Freshly made everyday". We got our food and my friends Chicken Alfredo was just chewy, my linguine with clams was just bland and watery. None of us finished our food, after our terrible experience with the waitress and the food; I asked for the check, which the waitress really took her time, since she went straight over to another table to get their order and went into the kitchen to do her thing, then she came back with some other tables ticket then she finally came to us. I've never in my life not tip the waitress. Overall the food was mediocre, service was terrible, I will never be back. read more

If your not local, the Google Maps location for Luigi's has it located one block south of where it actually is; with the one way streets, you may get to make a few u-turns before getting there.
