Time for Luigi's to take down the "Best Italian Restaurant in Pacifica" sign. I like Luigi, he's a sweet guy. But the food is dreadful. We live closeby and hoped that we would have the priviledge of a good restaurant we could walk to. Not so much, the lasagna was lots of noodle and tomato sauce, the pizza is tasteless and just not right. Wines? Poor selection. I'm sorry to say that there is nothing positive I can say except that Luigi is a sweet guy. Go say Hi but don't bother ordering the food. read more

I've ordered many things here, and there's two things that I've found that luigi's that I've yet to enjoy anywhere else: 1.) The rice balls. They don't always come hot inside for some reason (just tell them and they'll fix it), but when they do, they're yummy! 2.) ask for a chicken pesto pizza with garlic. And have them use the pesto as a base and not as a topping. Really delicious. 2.5) The garlic bread is actually really quite good. I like to eat it with the meat sauce that comes with the rice balls. I've tasted most of the stuff on the menu, and most of the stuff wont exactly blow your socks off or anything. Their chicken parm sandwich uses frozen breaded chicken tenders... but despite that, there are other things that are fresh (like the thing I've listed... aside from the rice balls, which are likely frozen.) Despite all of that, this place really is still worth a look. The chicken cannelloni is also very good, and the clam linguini isn't bad either. Overall pretty solid food at a good price. Luigi is really just one of the nicest guys ever. The type of guy who would greet you with a smile and shake your hand like he's known you forever even though he hasn't. I really wanted to like this place because it's local, but it was really disappointing. We ordered a pizza and pasta- the pizza was very basic and oily, and the pasta was noodles with white sauce that looked like a microwaved TV dinner. This is a great family restaurant or date night place, with fair prices and wonderful home vibe to it. Service is great...they treat you like you are old pals. Everything from the pizza to pasta is delicious. Garlic bread is homemade and awesome! We ordered two baskets. I love how they make it with Pizza dough, just gives it that special flare. My favorite is the Meat Lasagna which comes out piping hot...so let that baby cool before you bite into it. Luigi is the sweetest man ever and you can tell he loves his restaurant and his customers. Luigis is usually our go-to place for pizza but the last two orders have been rather sub-par. About a month ago, I called in an order for pick up on the way home from work. When I arrived at the restaurant about 45 min later, the person who had taken my call forgot to give the order to the kitchen. So I ended up waiting another 20 min while they made the pizza on the spot. Not a huge deal - more annoying than anything else - mistakes happen. Yesterday evening, we called in pizza order for pick up. They gave us an estimate of 30 min. When boyfriend went to pick up the pizza, he had to wait a short while. Then when he got home, we realized the pizza was not finished - the cheese had barely melted and you could see the dough was only partially baked and still soft/raw. And they went a little overboard with the sauce. So we put the pizza in the oven to finish the baking - the end result was pretty much inedible (and we can pretty much eat any pizza.) Something was simply wrong - the crust way too hard and the excess sauce just made the rest of the pizza soggy. We ended up throwing it away. Perhaps it was just a bad luck that we got a really awful pizza, but 2 strikes is enough for us to reconsider ordering Luigis again in the near future. read more

Luigi's has the mom-and-pop charm goin' on. I really had to look for anything on the menu that was over ten bucks. I was disappointed in their beer selection, but to my great pleasure, they allowed me to drink my own beer there for no fee AND they gave me a nice big chilled mug in which to drink it! Way to win my heart. Next, my wife and I ate an entire pizza without feeling the guilt of having eaten an entire pizza. Unlike most pizzas, it actually agreed with my body. read more

I love this place. Luigi is SO nice and friendly. Always greets us with a smile and seems to be a real hard worker. It's a nice little restaurant. Plenty of seating if you're having a get together. I always go back to his pizzeria because of the garlic and cheese pizza. I have never tried anything else there, nor do I feel like I need to. Luigi's was such a great experience. It's a low-key place with amazing food. You have to order the rice balls as an appetizer. I had the chicken cannelloni and it was delicious. There were 9 of us in our group yesterday after a nice hike on Montara Mountain. Everyone thought the food was great! I had the seafood risotto, my wife had the shrimp fettuccine in white sauce and we split a rice ball. Very delish! I think the regular waitress was out so Mr. LUIGI took our orders and made conversation with us, very nice man. I'd like to come back and try the pizza. read more

Giving a four only BC I picked up food instead of eating there....and its a family owned place so things looked outdated. But the pizza was very good and since we waited a little longer for our stuff BC it was busy , we rec'd a free piece of tiramisu. Very nice people that work there, even Luigi himself. Also didn't get to taste the rice balls but heard good things about them just by sitting there waiting for my pizza. read more

I hate to write a lukewarm review of a presumably family-owned local restaurant, but the pizza I got here today seemed to be about as good as what you'd get from Straw Hat or Pizza Hut. Very good food, good prices, absolutely God-awful service. I've only had worse service at one other restaurant. The last time I was there I waited 20 minutes in an empty dining room to be waited on and neither of the waitresses or the owner--nor anyone else came to help me. I am definitely a fan of Luigi's! :D My hubby and I will definitely return for more of their AMAZINGLY delicious Rice Balls (with meat inside and fried like an arancini - but better than any arancini you have probably had) and the raviolis with meatballs. And let's not forget the deliciously addicting garlic bread that comes with your meal. ;) I thought the chicken cacciatore was cooked perfectly and reminded me the style my mom and I make. The chicken fell off the bone. I give the service an A for Effort. If you are in the mood for some "comfort food" - I think Luigi's is the place to go. I really want to try their pizza. Luigi is always sweet and kind to our little, messy girl. Five Stars! Plus, the food is good-- always hot, always extremely comforting. We love the rice balls (a perfect meal for Destructo). The garlic bread is hot and loaded with butter and chunks of garlic. The food is straightforward, none of that fancy, mamby pamby nuvo italiano. When we went there tonight, I ordered the seafood risotto, and hubs got the linguini with alfredo sauce. We probably consumed a cube of butter between us. It was creamy and satisfying. The last time we came, Luigi forgot our beer, and then remembered at then end, and as an apology, he gave it to us for free! read more

Absolutely great food made by a great family. We had the rice balls and they were light and crisp. The sauce is perfect and you may ask for extra since it goes quick when your sopping it up. This was our first time at Luigi's and we will definitely be back! When we go to an Italian restaurant my husband always has Spaghetti & I always have Lasagna. We can honestly say the the spaghetti & lasagna were the best we have ever had. The sauce was excellent & you could tell it wasn't just out of a can but a homemade old Italian recipe! We loved our food! We told our server how much we liked it & she brought out Luigi so we could tell him. He is a lovely Italian man who has a lot of background in the food industry. i don't know where the rest of you guys have eaten, but the luigi's i went to was horrible. i went with a couple of friends and wait at the counter for a good ten minutes before anyone showed up. we seated ourselves and scanned the menu. my favorite italian dish is chicken parmesan so i quickly ordered it along with an entree of ravioli, while my friends ordered lasagna and spaghetti. i was so happy when the serve finally came. i was looking forward to eating. food looked okay, i was hoping it would taste better than it looked, but i was disappointed. the ravioli was still cold - (obviously frozen), and my chicken parmesan was nothing more than a recently unfrozen, thin chicken patty with melted cheese on top and a couple spoonfuls of tomato sauce. the chicken patty resembled those i used to get served in my elementary school - check out the picture someone posted of it. taste was bland and texture was chalky. friend was then courageous enough to order the tiramisu which was drenched in chocolate - way too sweet to eat. manager should take more time to fix this place up instead of carrying boxes around. don't even think about heading to this place. check out pasquale's pizzeria restaurant in the sunset in san francisco. they're chicken parmesan is the bomb! and the pizza is just to die for. read more

Went here with a group of kids and parents after a middle school basketball game. Good choice. Decor is simple and to the point. Nothing fancy there. We let the person at the front know we had a larger group coming and he immediately alerted the folks in back and took care of getting us seated. Off to a good start. We placed our order and while we were waiting for our pizzas Luigi came out to visit. He spoke to the kids and adults and was as welcoming as could be. When the pizzas arrived they looked great. The first bite quickly revealed that they tasted great as well. The toppings were perfectly balanced giving a nice ratio of crust to topping. The crust was cooked properly with a little crispness to the bottom. All in all a great pizza. I'll be back although based on what I see in the reviews here I might try some of the other non-pizza items on the menu. read more

I was here a week ago and was not impressed too much. The rice ball was pretty good, even though I was skeptical. I ordered pesto linguine with chicken and it was just not good. The chicken was dried out and I found a bone and the pasta was covered in TONS of sauce. I fount out later, I should have specified light on the sauce. I tried some of the veggie pizza which wasn't too bad. Overall it wasn't something I'd write home about. read more
