North Beach Pizza Daly City has a $17.50 lunch menu special. My pick was a pesto fettuccine pasta with beef. It comes with a soda and a side of garlic bread. This was my first time dining indoors here. The ordering process is done at the cashier and they will bring you your food. The cashier had no clue on how to enter the lunch specials and had to call someone. No one was picking up. He must be a rookie as the usual gal at night knew the computer system well. After I ordered, I had to ask for water and where my fountain soda was. He handed me a jug of water and a glass. There isn't a fountain soda machine at the restaurant. He instructed me to help myself to a soda in the dining room fridge. The pasta tasted fine. It had a good texture, not a strong pesto but rather creamy. There's olive oil for the garlic bread at the condiments station. It was a lot of food. For lunch, I like to keep at under an hour. My meal was a little bit under that. Overall, good meal. It would be nice if they added more protein options to the pasta menu like basil leaves, clams, eggs, hot dog, mushrooms, prosciutto (dried ham) or sausage. Currently for the lunch pasta menu, it is only beef, chicken or meatball. O! And some pine nuts or toasted breadcrumbs would have been nice but not available. read more

One of my favorite places for a grab and go thick slice of pie. Just your basic pizza with a thick crust, reminiscent of Blondie's to me. Not a fancy gourmet pie. NBP always has a few slices ready to go. Order up either a pepperoni slice for $6 or a cheese slice for $5. Add extra toppings for just a dollar when ordering a single slice. Sure, there are more pretentious pizzas out there, but it's nice to get back to basics every now and then! For a whole pizza, my favorite here is the clam & garlic! Counter seating against the big plate glass window facing the street. This is a casual neighborhood hole in the wall located on the same block as the L Taraval stop between 40th and 41st Avenues. Came for the calzone, returned for the pizza. Good calzones are surprisingly hard to find around here - especially of the vegetarian variety. Chose the personal size Creamy Garlic Veggie Calzone with garlic sauce, mozzarella, ricotta & feta, spinach, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, garlic, olive oil, and parsley. Yes please may I have another. Really enjoyed. But dang I had ordered online and when I came in for pickup the lonely cheese-forward slices just sitting in the glass case were calling to me. Nothing special but I take out all the time and sitting in the restaurant for hot crispy-crusted slices fresh out of the oven was just so tantalizing. The location is a little random but there's dedicated pizza parking right in front so I didn't have to battle the gym customers for a spot, which I had feared. The restaurant looks nice enough inside but it could have used a more lively atmosphere with beers and games on more tv's, or some music, or some something. The space is also surprisingly large and the staff was a little gruff. All good though. Good food conquers all. Came back yesterday and the slices really hit the spot, as expected. I sat at the bar seating facing the window to the parking lot and kicked a long ladder under my feet being stored there so there was that. In truth is the North Beach crust my fave? Naw, it doesn't taste and was a bit thick and chewy but I liked the sauce and cheese. It was just such a luxury to take a few minutes just to enjoy. Was getting my car serviced and needed a place that was within walking distance where I could grab lunch. North Beach Pizza came up in my search results so I crossed the street and came in. There was no lunch crowd so I was able to immediately go to the counter, get my order placed, and grabbed any table I wanted. The guy brought me some plate and silverware and even a cup of ice water. I had ordered a personal calzone (garlic veggie flavor) which took about 10-15 minutes to come out as they make it fresh to order. For a personal size, I was shocked by how large it was - see my picture for reference. Half of it was more than enough to fill me up, but at least you're getting your money's worth! The calzone was perfectly baked with a nice crispy, yet soft crust. I was a fan of the ingredients inside as well - if you like white sauce, garlic, and veggies, this is the choice for you. It comes with a side of marinara sauce, which I didn't like as much - the sauce tasted like minestrone soup without the broth. It came with chunks of cut up veggies, which is typically not what I think of when I think of marinara. The flavor was still good, although I preferred to eat the calzone without it. When it was time to go, the guy boxed up my uneaten half for me and it made for a great meal the next day. read more

I have eaten food from this place 3 times already and the service is bad. Yesterday we ordered 2 pastas at around 6:30pm, and the order was said to be ready at 7:01. However, when we arrived to the restaurant we were told it wasn't ready and it would take a few more minutes... the order wasn't ready until 7:41pm. I doubt they make the pasta from scratch and the restaurant was basically empty. And the pasta itself wasn't even good, it was mediocre. Don't recommend this place and I will not be ordering from here again. While we were waiting- The customer service was bad and the short girl server was chatting it up with her boyfriend as we waited (being very loud and obnoxious) and clearly being more attentive to him than us actual customers. The boyfriend got food before us (as soon as he arrived) while we just sat there waiting... very unprofessional. This is kind of a hidden in gem in the area. I've driven by, but really never noticed this place. They have a pretty spacious inside and can hold a large larger parties. Everything in terms of price is very reasonable. Portions are huge and their manager is super friendly!!! Tried a variety of things including pizza, appetizers, and rice plate. Generous serving size of pastas with lots of tasty tomatoes, onion, and peppers. The prawns were a good medium size, but I think I had about 5-6 pieces. The prawns were cooked well. BIZARRE!! My wife and I walked in around 4:47pm and ordered two pizzas to-go. We were told it could take up to 40 minutes since one was a deep dish, totally fine. But at 5:20, after waiting patiently, we were told they couldn't make our pizzas because they were "out of cheese." Out of cheese? At a pizza place? On a Friday evening? That alone is hard to believe. But what's even stranger is that after over half an hour, it seemed like they hadn't even started our order. So either they made a mistake and gave our pizzas to someone else, or they just didn't want to serve us. The whole situation felt off. Maybe it was an honest error, but it left a really bad impression, especially when you start wondering if something else was going on the way they rushed us out (we called shortly after and they were taking pizza orders). I placed an order at 4:01pm for an XL pizza with thick crust (paid an extra $3 for it) and a 15-piece wing for my family, with an estimated delivery time of 4:25-4:35pm. After waiting far past the delivery window, I called at 5:45pm to check on the order. It seemed like it had been forgotten I was told it was "on the way," yet I received a notification right after the call saying it had just been picked up. The order didn't arrive until 6:10pm. To make matters worse, the pizza wasn't thick crust as ordered, it was cold on top and only warm on the bottom, and the wings were cold and soggy as if they were sitting for awhile. Lured in for the free slice of cheese pizza on grand opening on 4/26. Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean. However, a few details they could have handled a bit better. Like the Happy Holidays banner that is still on the wall from its past life as Cybelle's. Or forgetting to remove the soda cans from their cardboard boxes in the glass case. We also noticed a salad bar station that was covered up and when asked about it, the woman was still unsure whether they'd consider offering it. So for now, it's just taking up space. Small details but they do matter when it comes to first impressions. The cheese pizza was just ok, the sauce wasn't very flavorful and crust was dry. The wings, while perfect to me, were dry and overcooked for my bestie. Lastly, if not for their 50% off promo on whole pizzas, their pricing is very expensive at at least $40 for a medium. I grew up going to North Beach Pizza the one on Mission Street in the excelsior. Now, there is one in my neighborhood which is great. North Beach Pizza is a Bay Area institution for pizza for years. Been going to this place since it's soft opening and have to say it has become my goto pizza spot in Daly City. I'm usually not big into the chains and love having a great local eatery. Glad to have a North Beach Pizza outside of the SF where it's less busy. Enrique was a super nice and professional person who tried to get the orders on time and ready for customers on PIE day (3.14). My kids haven't had NBP so we had to get the SF special with clam and shrimp on the garlic white sauce!! The XL was perfect for dinner and a side order of calamari. I know the price seems high but the quality and ingredients they stack on was worth it. Super fresh when we picked it up and plenty of parking too. Dining space and area is pretty spacious as there were groups of people eating there when I picked up my order. If you haven't had it yet, give it a try. read more

Went to the grand opening of North Beach Pizza back in April and got a takeout pizza for 50%off. Last weekend, I took the family back for dine-in dinner. Husband had spaghetti with meatballs (2)--he wished for more meatballs but enjoyed his dish. Daughter had a seafood pasta dish which she said was tasty. I had chicken Marsala entree which came with pasta in marinara sauce and a medley of sautéed fresh vegetables cooked al dente. Frango na chapa: Perfect plate. A big one, crowded with good stuff. A bit dry, it's a thin cut of chicken but very tasty. And the platanos on the side made it the real deal, complete. Served with rice, beans, salad, farofa, fries and potato salad. I don't usually like fries so I opted out. The rice is too dry but otherwise awesome sides. Potato salad was super good. The pickled carrots in it are odd but they really work together with the rest of it. Fresh california-y salad, and farofa is good stuff, really goes with the sweet onions of the chicken. The beans could've been cooked longer, in a better sauce. I might try the fries another time. Also had acai and in the past I tried some Brazilian pizzas. Acai was way too sweet even when I asked for minimal sugar and condensed milk. Brazilian pizza, though I hear it's well liked over there, is a bit odd, so I recommend sticking to the usual slices. read more

Amazing pizza! Crust great, bbq sauce perfect, cheese and ingredients high quality, didn't overdo the raw onions. Honestly, worth the money for finally good pizza which seems so hard to find in the Bay Area. We have overpaid for awful pizza before that had no sauce and undercooked ingredients. Also, wonderful service! We were there for soft opening and our server was absolutely welcoming and delightful and so funny and friendly.
