Where to start? My family has been with Dr. Pytlik since he began practicing in La Jolla. Not only is he a talented dentist with the most up to date knowledge and technique, he has the funnest and most personable chair-side manner of any dentist I've been too! This is for the fabulous work of Dr. Lukas Pytlik and staff. Customer service is always consistent at the front desk as is the painstaking care into quality dental work in the exam rooms. I have been more than a pain in the a*s with forgetting appointments and having an extremely tight schedule yet they never show the least bit of annoyance when I arrive. Due to poor dental genetics I was facing 4 implants after a round of metal-mouth braces (for the second time in my life) for two years. Being much older than a teenager and having no desire to look like one I was slightly distraught at my only option to fix my smile...until I met with Dr. Pytlik. He moved to Del Mar after having had enough of the commute to Beverly Hills every day and now works out of Dr. Aires office. After reviewing my chart of chronic problems with previous Maryland bridge work Dr. Pytlik suggested veneers as a permanent solution. Anyone who has had extensive dental work knows that nothing is forever but I was willing to take this leap of faith for something that didn't involve 30K+ worth of orthodontia, etc. I just had 2 more permanent veneers completed today and am becoming slightly OCD with the symmetry of my smile and cannot wait to have the final 2 veneers completed. I have been under the care of Dr. Pytlik from the time he first came to the La Jolla office until now. I have always had major hereditary dental issues and feel fortunate to have Dr. Pytlik as my prosthodontist. He is very caring, honest and professional. In addition, he has always taken the time to explain the work which needed to be done and respond to any concerns which I might have. Dr. Pytlik is also a perfectionist. I've had numerous crowns, bridges on implants done and never had to come back a second time for any adjustments. When he does the job, he does it right the first time. The office staff is very friendly and professional. They always make me feel welcome. Myreen, the hygienist, is excellent. She does a wonderful job when cleaning my teeth in a painless manner while working around all the hardware in my mouth. She has a sweet and caring personality as well. The office is a bit of a distance to drive for me but it is well worth it because of the high quality of care and service I receive from the entire staff. read more

Let me start by saying that I was absolutely terrified of going to the dentist and stopped going for many years. I was referred to Dr. Pytlik and he made me feel calm and comfortable. He did my two front teeth veneers and I am truly grateful that he advised me that the initial veneers looked too small, so he did not bond them. He had them re-done and then made sure I was happy before permanently bonding them. I actually look forward to going to my teeth cleanings, because Myrene is so gentle and thorough. ''Your teeth we can fix, but I don't know about the rest of you'' -Dr Pytlik This review is very very Embarrassing to Me, but I feel the need to post it here for other people. And I swear on the life of my best friend (my husky) and my family, that this review is all 100 percent true to the letter. I know it's long, but this one is worth reading despite whatever kind of work you might do here. The office of Dr Aires and this dentist, took it upon themselves to lie to my parents when I was having work done to reverse the effects of some harmful drug issues I had. They told me I was having the teeth made healthy. What they really did, is they left the roots alone, left the real issues alone, despite some of them being infected and pointed out as unhealthy by them, using their own x rays. So, they said I was making the right decision to '' Keep my Teeth ''. They ignored the fact that I would feel terrible pain under the fake teeth, despite my teeth looking '' pretty ''... which isn't what I was told was being done. They never told me my teeth would still be unhealthy, which they honestly were then and now. The initial procedure to fix my pain and problems simply involved knocking me out, opening my mouth and grinding the teeth down into little spikes and then putting porcelain ''teeth'' over the unhealthy teeth. That's all they did, for many thousands of dollars. The root canals and the infections, stayed. The also left a temporary in for over 2 years, which I found out by accident after 2 years. And during the initial procedure, when they put those temporaries on my teeth, they said they would have the real ones ready in a few days. It turned out to be weeks and weeks, during which they began to pop out during social occasions... Its horrible. Trust me. When I went in to Pytlik because some of the teeth literally shattered while I was eating a normal meal, they said that what had happened to my teeth was still my fault. They did x rays which revealed the same problems that I had had the first time I went in here, and proceeded to offer me a plan to do thousands of dollars of work, instead of fixing the shattered tooth which is all I had come in to do. Dr Pytlik began by insulting me, and making me feel like everything wrong with my teeth was all my fault. If you have the same problems, he will do the same to you, I guarantee it. They said they would offer me the same knocking out method they had used the first time, which was really useful, but when I got there they refused it to me and began work. It was the worst pain, I have ever felt in my entire life. And I have been to many dentists because of the problems I have had. I have had well over 8 root canals and tooth pulls before this, and this was the worst pain I have ever felt. They weren't even Doing a root canal ! The Billing Fraud - On top of this they rescheduled an appointment to do another stab at this, but when they said I wouldn't be helping with the pain relieving stuff, I cancelled, and decided not to do the second 29,000 procedure. So they took it upon themselves to go around me, and bill my parents instead because they had paid for the initial work done to my teeth, saying that they Still Owed Them Money for the porcelain fake teeth they put in, despite the fact that this issue had nothing to do with that, effectively trying to extort my family for over 500.00 dollars when I didn't come in to do the second 29,000 dollar procedure to fix the things that simply put the fake teeth over !!! This is a terrible, terrible place and its expensive. They use that, and the speed to make you think they are making your teeth healthy. But its just a sham. Please don't make the 30,000, and nearly 70,000.00 mistake I did. My teeth hurt so much the day I left the initial procedure here, that I wound up taking over 10 Tylenol a day and from then on couldn't drink anything cold, and probably wont ever again. Dr Pytlik is arrogant, insulting, and his office will try to bill you for everything you have, even after you have paid them for work that is already paid for. This review is 100 percent accurate and can be backed up by x rays, documents, and bills. If it is removed I will protest it being removed. I'm sure that is happening frequently with them. read more

Went to Dr.Pytlik's office from a friends referral to get a routine teeth cleaning. Always a bit nervous going to a new dentist but it was an all-around pleasant experience. Got my teeth cleaned and the cleaning was more thorough than I've had at previous dentists. Got my dental X-rays and had a thorough inspection of my teeth by the doctor himself. All in all pleasant staff and straightforward yet thorough process - which is exactly what I'm looking for in a dentist. Would definitely recommend to friends/family. read more

I was so worried because both my husband and I were told back in NY that we had cavities but we were skeptical and said we would pass on the work and wanted a second opinion. I was referred to Dr. Pytik from the VA. I have nothing but good things to report about the professionalism and good care I've received in this office. Admittedly, the VA pays, and I don't, so I can't speak to that, but as far as quality care and attention to my own priorities goes, spot on. I had previously been looking for a dentist outside the VA through my wife's insurance, which is great insurance that pays for everything, except the highest tech new crowns that I didn't need. I went to three dentists and had to walk out from each one, because they insisted on doing this for an extra thousand despite the fact that the benefit of a white porcelain crown was unnecessary. It was a rear molar surrounded by gold crowns that was100% covered if another gold crown was used. Dr Pytik was very willing to to work with me, and provide a great standard of care that met my needs, not necessarily his. Great job. I can see integrity. Thanks. read more
