If you're doing repairs on a budget, some mechanics and service managers at this shop may treat you like a piece of red meat. Came in for an alignment because I noticed minor uneven tire wear at last tire change (1mm differences at end of life). Took car to Luke's, told them I would like to do my own oil and brake pad changes and only need an alignment. They said my car was missing some parts and then later same day that I also needed to replace both my rear control arms ($1000 repair). I never had serious problems and decided to take the vehicle back instead. Service manager told me that it would be safe to drive for a while as well. Of course, back from the shop it now slides around the road and makes terrible scratching sounds, a great surprise to find out when driving my 8 year old down I-270. Attached photo shows the rear wheel which pointed ~5 degrees toward the right of the car when I first picked it up. Called back and service manager says he 'got car into spec' before returning it to me. Offers 'small adjustments', but says I will need to pay in full to get the vehicle back to the shape I left it in. He cannot get me in touch with his manager for 4 more days (my car is not driveable) because of 4th of July holidays. He also recommends that instead of talking to his superior I speak to the other service manager 'because he would be easier to get a hold of'. ... I then post a review here and within an hour get a prompt call from Luke, the owner, who agreed to inspect the vehicle again to determine if the shop is in error. Same day, Luke gave me his word that he would take care of this and towed my car back to the shop and gave me a loaner free of charge. Luke had his foreman examine the car, and it turned out that his mechanic left a bolt loose... There is now no need for $1000 repairs. Luke apologized to me and said that the loose bolt was the mechanic's mistake, but gave no explanation for 1) why the car left the shop in that state (Luke told me their policy is to test every vehicle before returning them to customers), 2) why I was told I was missing parts or 3) why I was told I needed a $1000 repair. My father said that if there was an honest mistake, most people would apologize. I appreciated it when Luke did so. When I came to pick up my car, the service manager at the heart of this tale had a chance to say something too, but instead didn't even make eye contact. In the end, Luke told me that the car was now 'in spec', free of charge. Of course, after such a wild ride I felt it best to take it to another shop for a check-up. I hardly know where to start.... You can read my original review but I no longer deal with Luke's. Why? Because I'm a woman who knows zilch about cars and Luke's tried to stiff me... HARD (a three page Christmas list of b.s. essential repairs to a very old Toyota I'm only trying to keep running till I can get a new car). I dropped my car off early, was sitting at home, filled with dread, looking at their huge to-do list (roughly 3K$ worth... just before Xmas), while their loaner vehicle sat in front of my house. I was dazed, worried about all the money I'd be handing over, knowing how long it would take to earn back all that green, when I remembered something. My alternator died last summer and I  wound up using some mechanic I knew nothing about (recommended by an auto parts store), who installed a new alternator for me for next to nothing. After conversing with several co-workers who know cars but who already had enough work going on to to take on MY job, and one suggested I call the guy who installed my alternator. I did. I shot him (Scotty) a copy of the estimate, he said he could pretty much guarantee most of the work listed as "needed" was bogus and that he could do what WAS needed for significantly less. I had my doubts but that estimate was just nuts. So I called Lukes and told them I was bringing back their loaner. When I got there, I could see sheepish looks on the faces of the guys. Tell #1. When Scotty came out he took a lot of pictures and had me turn the wheels. The biggest ticket item was perfectly fine. Scotty showed me a picture of the pricey seemingly rust-covered Part-X that Luke's insisted needed replaced (roughly 2K). Trouble was, said Scotty, the part they were pointing out was called by an entirely different name. It was also only a bit rusty and more than a bit dirty. The actual named part was positioned ABOVE the "rusty" part and was in good condition. It certainly didn't need replacing (again, at 2K ). How would I have known? How many people would have known? Scotty pretty much gave me a tour of the estimate, knocking off nearly everything as needing repaired/replaced. They even insisted most of the lighbulbs needed replaced (I mean... Tell #2) when only one (over the license plate) needed replaced. Scotty, humorously informed me that as long as the second plate bulb was working the cops couldn't ticket me(). In the end, 1) Most of Luke's estimated repairs were expensive lies, 2) Repairs from Luke's estimate that actually DID need done were done by Scotty (NOT affiliated with Luke's in any way, to be VERY clear, in case I'm losing anyone), and 3) With two brand new front tires from Discount Tire - that all involved agreed were needed - the entire tab came to less than 1/3 Luke's 3-page holiday estimate.  Honestly, there were "tells" all over the place that Luke's was setting me up to be ripped off, beyond the aforementioned: Less-expensive repairs Luke's told me a year ago I needed were not on THIS estimate (Where did they go?) while the big ticket items (the one's Scotty said "nope" to) remained - with lots of new additions, just in time for THEIR Christmas (Ho Ho NO!!). Then there was the big sign outside of Luke's with the owner's picture screaming "WE'RE EXPANDING!!!" You don't say.... Scotty explained that my first mistake was taking my car to "a $hop." Then there's the whole female-knowing-nothing-about-cars thing - though, apparently, this scam is pulled on anyone who demonstrates the proper amount of auto ignorance. In the end, what Scotty found particularly amusing was the costs Luke's listed for the parts. Their parts cost was... EPIC. Yeah, I paid nowhere near what Luke's claimed the parts cost. While this experience has been disheartening, I DID get a great plumber off of Yelp and TWO fantastic electricians (Who are not affiliated with one another but who know and respect each other enough to have passed business back-and-forth when they each got slammed during the pandemic, which says a lot about how THEY do business). I don't know how I found my HVAC guy but he's awesome and has been My Guy for a decade. Got a great appliance repair guy (who insists "Nobody should ever buy a front-loading washer!") off of Yelp, also. And now I have a brilliant auto mechanic who saved me a lot of money, pain, and suffering. I am learning (especially if you're female) it's not a bad idea to know A Guy/Gal, rather than A Business. Had a strange grinding noise in the front end. Called Luke's Auto Service and John took down my information ahead of time so that it was simpler when I came in and we could focus on the repair at hand. John was a kind listening ear the entire phone call. When I came in the door, I was immediately greeted by John from across the room, he knew immediately, that I was the kid from Georgia. Must've been written all over my face. John continued to get more information about the duration of the problem in order to get a technician out to ride in the truck with me and hear the noise first hand. John mentioned that he was new and may need to ask questions of his associates which was fine, I had no problem with that in order to get the most effective use of time. However, I couldn't even tell John was new, while he's still learning how things are done at Luke's his caring attitude and attention to detail is unmatched. Once I left that day we had a plan on diagnosing the problem and they even gave me a loaner as it was I know how long the repair would take. Once we found out what was wrong, John called me with the options, even mentioning that he had to look back at the notes he took in order to correctly explain to me what was wrong with my truck. Luke's auto was fast and fair with pricing of the fix and 24 hours later John was calling me once again to let me know that my truck was available for pick up. When I came for pick up, once again John greeted me from across the room and ran over. I think he was excited as I was to get my truck back. He asked me some questions about my plans for the rest of the week as I had a long drive to Wisconsin the following weekend. He remembered every detail I had told him during our previous conversation. John and Luke's auto are amazing and thank you for making this Georgia boy feel right as home even though I was nowhere near it. They gave me an entire synopsis of the repairs done to my vehicle even imaging the broken parts and diagnosing the problem. Now that's attention to detail! read more

Years ago, I had a 2008 Acura TSX with a clicking noise on the front axle. Took it to a local Gahanna technician (due to proximity) who said it was $2500 replacement or the car would breakdown on the highway. I ended up stumbling upon Luke's from all of the great reviews on yelp. I recently have been getting my car serviced at Mercedes at Easton. Something felt shady about the last 2 times I went there they charged me $3,000 on a number of services they said that I "needed "when I didn't. I got a estimate on my service B and spark plugs which they said was going to be $3,000 again. I'm so glad I ended up finding Luke's. I messaged them on yelp for a estimate and they got back to me 10 mins later. Got an estimate for $1400 which I was very happy with and seemed very fair. They even offered to give me a rental car to use. Originally they said I was supposed to get the car back Wednesday but they got the car finished on Tuesday way quicker than expected. Also the final price only ended up being 1100 they told me that I didn't necessarily need an oil change yet I still have 2000 more miles so they didn't add that onto the service. I really appreciate the honesty and integrity of this place if you're looking for a place to get your car serviced look no further! My regular mom and pop shop wasn't able to get to me quickly due to a family medical situation. I took my vehicle to Luke's due to a broken door lock. I wasn't able to lock my vehicle so didn't want to wait. They did their review and found multiple things wrong that "needed" attention. The contact person I had never called me back as he said he would - I had to call him every day. In addition, he assumed (his word not mine) I wanted the work done so just told the tech to do it without confirming it with me. The rental car was a blessing since they had my vehicle for 6 days. The only work done was the door lock repair I originally went in for. One of the "issues" they found turned out to be something else after they said it was an immediate need (safety concern you know) - for about $1500 - and then were "kind" enough to ONLY charge me for the labor of checking the issue once I said the repair they were now stating had to be done was actually already done and the part was still under warranty. Overpriced, inconsistent, underhanded. Interestingly, when I went back to my regular place and said I'd had the lock repair done and was told of the alleged damaged part issue, they asked if I had gone to Luke's. I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday because my brakes weren't working right. Dropped it off first thing in the morning at 8am. I waited and waited for them to call to let me know what was wrong with the car, and how much it would cost to fix it. They didn't and so I wound up calling them in the evening that day. Dennis, the service advisor, apologized for not contacting me sooner and that they would get to my car first thing in the morning for sure. He said they got backed with other work. What was the point in scheduling an appointment if they couldn't get to it that day? Whatever, fine I get it, they're running a business and stuff can happen. I just hate having my time wasted. Wednesday they inspect my car and tell me what's wrong with it. Turns out the brake booster and brake master cylinder were broken. They quoted me $1,300 for the job. They also quoted a bunch of other nonsense that I didn't need. The car is a beat up old 2001 Camry with 216,000 miles, not a Rolls Royce. It's supposed to get me from point A to point B. So I did NOT appreciate that at all. I tell Dennis to go ahead and fix it. He calls me back an hour later and apologizes again because he misquoted the repair. He forgot to factor in the cost of parts. Really man, two slip ups in a row? It's now $1,900 for the job. I call up another mechanic and they give me a quote for the same repair at only $1,350. Wow, talk about a rip off. I hate having my money wasted. The other mechanic wouldn't be able to work on it until next Tuesday so I had no choice but to call back Dennis and have him fix it for $1,900 because I needed my car back ASAP. Also the car was unsafe to drive. They fixed the car on Thursday and I got it back Friday morning. This was a terrible experience. I hate wasting money and I hate wasting time. Great customer service, excellent website and scheduling system, and great value for a full synthetic oil change. I normally do all the work on my cars, however, its cold this year. This marks the second time I've taken my car into a shop for something outside of tires and I was not disappointed this time. Although, the technician broke the oil cap on my car, Luke's auto fully covered the cost of the replacement part at no cost to me. Lola and I have been together for 15 years, and she has 215,000+ miles of outstanding devotion to getting me where I need to go. I had been told by a different car dealership that my brake pads needed to be replaced because they were too thin. Luke's Auto Service was amazing from the first moment I contacted them. They were able to tell give me a cheap and accurate quote on the work quickly while also explaining that not everything the dealership said needed to be done was actually necessary. It was also extremely easy to book a free courtesy car while my car was being worked on (just remember to fill it up when you return). They had called a couple times throughout the day giving me updates on the car. They were very thorough and rechecked all the brakes and determined that none of them had to be replaced, just one had to be realigned (much cheaper). I appreciated them so much for doing what was best for the car and not just doing the requested work if it didn't need it. Only took a day to get it fixed and they provided and very impressive and detailed report when finished.
