Came in for a haircut today and the first thing I noticed was that it was empty upon arrival. I was greeted and waited no more than 3 minutes when Luke came out to greet me. He then asked me what I was looking for and I told him basically my hair is in many layers and I wanted to get them trimmed. He suggested I cut my hair medium length and to lose the bangs that I used to have because it did not go with my frame. He gave me a huge speech and his opinion on why people should be washing their hair everyday. In my opinion, if I do not wash my hair for at least a day, it is unmanageable the next day plus it is oily. I was not pleased after paying $35 for a haircut. Looking at all the pictures, I noticed that most of the haircuts were done pretty much the same way. I asked if he could cut my hair slightly shorter around my face due to the shape of my face. Instead of honoring my request, he went on to give me a lecture on how he is the best in his field - speaking of himself as the very best oncologist for cancer patients. He went on and on... it made me very uncomfortable. He flat ironed my hair before cutting but did not shampoo. I ended up with a mediocre haircut. My hair looked SIPER flat with no body - period. I don't mind listening to advices from experts but Luke was very arrogant and pushy. Will not go back in the future. read more

Luke is an overall nice guy. He always gives me a friendly chat every time I was there also he cuts my hair very fast and his salon is near my house which is very Convenient. However he likes to gives hairstyle suggestion which is fine but sometime it can goes against him because he won't listen which makes me wondering does he really cares? Or he wants to do what is easy for him. Many Yelpers that gave him bad reviews all seems to have the same complains about his stubbornness. My suggestion to him is do what the customer wants because it's their hair and money. LUKE no further! I was recommended to this salon by a friend. I came in and did a walk-in appointment around 5:30 PM and there was one more client ahead of me. In total, I only had to wait 20 minutes for my walk-in appointment until it was my turn to sit on the chair! Luke made feel so comfortable on the chair! His bluntness may put you off but we got lots of chats and good laughs. I got my hair cut about 6 inches then he flat-ironed it at the end. Sorry, I am giving him one star just because I cannot give him less. The worse service ever. When I want one hair style and pay for it, I want to get what I asked for. I am the one that paid for it . He tried to convince me that the way I want to do my hair is not a good style for me. This is the way I've been doing my hair for the past 40 years and I love the way I look. He tried very hard to explain to me that he is the only one that knows how I should look, not me or my family. Really? He thinks he is a hair expert who knows everything and he might know how to cut hair but obviously does not know color so he tries to avoid doing it and talks down to people, even calling me lazy because I hadn't washed my hair before coming. I'd give Luke more than 5 stars if that was possible to be honest. I've been living in the valley for quite some time now and I've probably been to more than 20-30 barbers/salons. I used to go to a different salon but the main guy moved to a different state and ever since then I've gone to probably more than 10 salons to try new ones and trust me they were all terrible. Luke explained so well the technical work behind my hairstyle that no other person has ever told me or they probably didn't know what they were doing themselves. But trust me he knows what he is doing. I haven't had a good haircut in a while. What I liked about him is that he is very opinionated; if you tell him to do a certain thing and it's not the right thing to do, HE WILL ADVISE YOU AGAINT IT or give you a better option. He calls himself hair doctor, that only says a lot about his professionalism. And the price is moreee than reasonable shockingly. Although, I saw a few negative reviews and that kind of surprised me. I think the people that had negative things to say about him needed to go to a barbershop rather than a 'salon' so I doubt that it's 100% the truth. I wouldn't recommend this place to people who want those fade styles and etc because that's not what he does. If you have medium to long hair and you wanna look good, he is your guy. I leave 45 min away from this place but today I had an appointment with my dentist. I found this place through yelp. I enjoyed everything about it specially seeing that the hairstylist enjoys his work and he is so nice I believe this place deserves 5 stars if you don't know what style you want but I give 3 because I did not like the fact that He didn't listen what I want, my hair looks good and I'm satisfied with the service but that's not a hairstyle that I had in mind.it is a clean hair cut I liked more to have a style like Victoria Beckham which has more edgy and stylish look. I read the reviews for Luke's and seeing that he was the A line bob king, I decided to give him a shot. I went to Korean hair salons my whole life and have never had a haircut that I liked. When I went to Luke's, I asked for his opinion. I wanted short hair but wanted to look mature as well. He explained the different types of bobs and gave a suggestion. I decided to leave it up to him. Asymmetrical bobs are the MOST difficult hair cuts and require true talent. LUKE IS THE A-LINE BOB M-A-S-T-E-R. Seriously, no one can compare. His hands are magic! I came to Luke with a botched , choppy mess of an attempted bob and he gave me the most amazing, cute haircut I've ever had! Luke pays extreme attention to detail and this was such a relief for me because I am a perfectionist. To top off his incredible skills, he is also an awesome person and super easy to talk to. Very happy with my hair cut. I brought in several pictures for Luke to look at, one in particular I liked but it was shorter than I would have liked. I didn't have to mention that it was too short because he looked at my face and said that the style would look better on me if it were a bit longer. Luke was very pleasant, and listened to my desires and what I wanted to achieve with my hair. I originally wanted it to be chin length but he explained to me that since my hairline on the back was lower I should use that length.. as it won't look weird and upkeep won't be as hard. Luke. I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. Luke is awesome! I walked in, showed him a picture of the cut I wanted, and he nailed it. It looks exactly the same as what I showed him. Parking in the plaza is free, which is nice, and the haircut was quick and painless. He flat ironed my hair before the cut so he knew how it would look afterwards. Nobody else has ever done that before. Not sure if it's a requirement for that cut, but it seemed to do the trick. Anyways, yep. I recommend him. I'm growing out my hair so I may not be back for this particular cut again, but I'm sure I'll be back to have Luke trim up my loose ends. :) read more
