My daughter and her husband wanted donuts at 8:00 at night. We couldn't find many open donut shops; and my husband said we couldn't get "ordinary" donuts from a grocery store, so we found Lukumades by searching on our phones. It was a little bit of a drive away, near the beach, and there was absolutely no parking on a Friday night. My husband dropped me off and circled while I placed a few to go orders. It was a cute little shop with donuts, shakes, and ice cream. The donuts are not traditional donuts; more like deep fried donut holes that are covered with all kinds of yummy toppings. They're also served nice and hot and in 10 packs. They had lots of cool donut flavors like: Dark Delight, Maple Bacon, , White Tella, and Love U Matcha, The prices range from $8.75 to $9.50 per box. They all sounded yummy; but we decided on Twix Fix, drizzled with caramel, melted chocolate, and cookies, and Lotus Crunch, which was topped with melted Biscoff cookies. Our order was ready in about 5 minutes and the bag of donuts was nice and warm. We ate them when we got back home. They were more chewy and heavier than regular donut holes, but rich and delicious. You could really only eat a few; so a box of 10 is a decent sized dessert for 2 people to share. Our new fave donut spot at the beach! We moved here last year and didnt get to explore here until recently and stumbled upon this spot walking down the street from Casa Marina. Upon entering the cashier was nice and accommodating to our questions. The most popular was the Kinderella so we got that and one of the cashier's favorite the maple bacon. Both SO DELICIOUS!! I love donuts. I especially love mochi donuts. So these Greek style donuts are reminiscent of mochi donuts bevause they're not really light and fluffy they're dense yet bouncy and hearty so funny. They also make them fresh right there so its a major plus and worth the wait if you have to wait for a fresh batch. On one of our visits to Jax Beach we stopped in to finally try the Greek donuts. I had high expectations for this place and i truly think i ordered the wrong thing. I ordered the pistachio topping with chocolate. I was expecting to have a sweet and creamy pistachio topping but instead it was like putting a spoonful of peanut butter in my mouth. There was not one bit of sweetness. There is so many different combos that look good on the menu. Next time i will make sure to ask before i order. But The location of the shop is fabulous because they sell more than just donuts. They also have Gelato and after a long day at the beach that's exactly what i would want. There's something special about finding unique spots like Lukumades! When I first heard about them, I just knew I had to try them out. Hubby and I shared a half and half tray of the Greek doughnuts. We ordered: Kinderella - mind-blowingly delicious! The hazelnut sauce and melted chocolate were phenomenal together. Excellent choice! Bougatsa - more on the simple side but still amazing. I really liked the custard inside and cinnamon sugar outside combo. The doughnut balls were fresh and the topped to order. They also weren't as sweet as I expected which was nice. I ordered the Medium Freddo Espresso with Almond Milk, Stevia, and Cinnamon, a Piccolo with Skim Milk and Honey, and the The OG donuts which are drizzled with honey and cinnamon. There are A LOT of flavors to choose from so we tried some of the popular ones recommended by a worker. It seems they make them fresh to order. The fried dough balls have a little bit of chew so a slightly different texture than your standard donut.... Almost like there was a tiny bit of mochi in the dough. Twix fix was really good and we agreed that the kinderella lacked some flavor. Since this is a different type of doughnut not sure if they were supposed to be that chewy. Another one of my catch-up reviews today is on Lukumades out at Jax Beach. I will admit my sin and not having taken pictures of these tasty little treats because they were drippy and very messy and it was very crowded inside so we were eating in my car and trying not to make a mess. Food - 8.5/10. They seem so simple and yet they're so much more. A tasty little donut ball with a plethora of delightful toppings. So many varieties to choose from you can surely find something for anyone. One of the great things about this is the dough ball itself is vegan and the toppings for the most part are vegetarian or vegan friendly. So a wonderful treat that anybody can have without having to think too hard about it. They come 10 balls to a tray and you can go half and half on the flavors which is cool but I don't really recommend after having understood how they are served. Basically the plain balls are made and whatever you pick for your flavor, they top with those sauces or crumbles. So if you're getting a mixed box, the flavors kind of blend together in the middle. Well that comes up with a whole new flavor combination. It's not really doing you any service for enjoying the flavor you picked. On this visit, we were a bit overzealous thinking one trailer per person. Two trays for the three of us would've been a better plan. For the flavors we got we did the OG, Kinderella, Snicka Pick, Lotus Crunch, Dark Delight, and Twix Fix. All of the flavors were amazing, but I definitely think in the future. It will be a one flavor tray. We'll say the only disappointment there were some incongruities in the size of the balls were somewhere about the diameter of a quarter where others were more like a golf ball. Overall, though the texture of the balls himself was perfect fluffy, chewing us and was an excellent bowl of fried dough. The different flavor combinations are fun and delicious. Among the ones we tried none of them disappointed. Atmosphere - 8/10. The ambience of the storefront was beautiful and cozy. The comfort of the storefront is where I kind of mark off some points. It is a very tight fit, and I understand that being this close to the beach property costs are probably very high, but I feel like a slightly different layout could give a better flow to the area. With the counter as a set area, the seating area runs the length of it, and results in people sitting almost touching the counter, which is where you need to be standing to order so if someone is sitting, you're essentially standing with your rear end in someone's face. The day we went it was very crowded and with someone at the register and someone in the seats if you're further back in the shop, you can't easily exit. I think that could easily be overcome by pivoting the ordering station to face the front of the store, but I get they're working with very limited space here. But as I said, the comfort the appeal gives you a very chill beachy vibe. Service - 10/10. I guess it's hard to not be happy when you work in a Sweet shop. I mean, if you were having a bad day, just have a quick snack and that sugar buzz will have you riding high. Everyone who worked here seem to be happy and despite the crowd was attentive to the guests. If you're out for a walk on the beach, I highly recommend popping in for a quick treat. They're open quite late and because the way their product is set up. It's likely to almost always be fresh. read more

I would say I'd rather eat the 10 piece donut holes with a fork and knife verses a pointy toothpick, but that's such a small adjustment. I tried this for the very first time this past Friday night at 11:30pm. What a fun night cap! I loved the flavors and I felt like the price point was pretty fair. I love me some donuts and Lukumades came along, I was elated to hear that they serve Greek donuts, which is not commonly served in Jax. And thankfully, the food stars aligned me perfectly on a weekend where we had a group outing at a local restaurant near this place. So right after dinner, we walked our happy belly-filled arsses down to Lukumades. Walking in, the ambience sets the tone. Pictures of donuts on the walls. And scent of the donuts just allures your nostrils. Their donut/menu concept is pretty simple. Pick your flavor(s) and let the staff do the mixing and drizzling. Pretty straightforward. My personal favorite here, since I love chocolate, is the Dark Delight. And best part is, the donuts and drizzle are not overly sweet compared to other donuts I have had locally. And don't feel bad if you happen to devour many Lukumades donuts. You're basically on the Jax Beach strip. Go for a walk afterwards and burn off those calories. read more

This place was packed on a Saturday night with a lot of congestion right at the door, where you order, pay, and wait. This new spot clearly appeals to many people and I love the fact that the donuts are vegan and the sign at the door highlights their dairy-free sorbet options. One of the owners was scooping gelato while greeting us and hyping up the loukoumades, saying that they will feed your soul. We were very excited to try them after hearing so many good things about them in just the short time since they've been open. We went with two of the classic balls, golden maple and the OG in one box, and a lotus shake. I also tried the cookies and cream gelato. It didn't take long for our order to be ready. The loukoumades were freshly made, which was nice but the taste was just ok. I thought they were going to be sweet but they weren't, even with the glaze and maple syrup. The issue may have been that they don't dip or glaze each donut individually, but rather in the box all together. This led to an uneven coating of the donuts and pooling of the maple syrup at the bottom of the box. The dough had a little bite to it and it reminded me of brioche donuts. Similar to those donuts, they were even chewier the next day. The lotus shake on the other hand was quite sweet and had good flavor but it was thinner than most milkshakes and not very cold. I'm glad that this place has a good following and I'm sure that many will like the not-too-sweet balls. I guess I happen to be partial to desserts that are a little sweeter and a bit less chewy. It's possible that the flavors we chose just weren't the best. I wish they had options for smaller quantities or "tasters" as two of us ate less than half of the box of ten on the night we got them. read more

Went to Lukumades as it had been coming up in my feed often. The donuts were chewy and similar to mochi donuts in texture. The store was slow and we got ours made to order and they came out fresh and hot. One flavor was biscoff and the other was a chocolate mix. Oh my goodness! It was a stormy day and I dragged John out of the house intent on trying Greek Donuts from Lukumades- I had seen them on IG over the weekend and was drooling over my phone! Because the weather was terrible, they weren't packed! Hooray for that, although while we were there, they filled in more. I love donuts, and really love filled donut holes! DD where I used to live had several kinds of filled holes, but the Jacksonville chains don't offer some of my favorites- so I was really hoping to try the cream filled ones and the jam filled ones. The bummer- they are out of the cream (getting delivered from Greece!!!), but they had the jam! I also ordered a latte. The holes come as a boat of 10- you can get two flavors. We opted for Jam it & Golden Maple. The donuts are made fresh when you order them and that just adds to the deliciousness! Jam It- super filled with jam straight outta Greece, the jam isn't overly sweet (thank goodness) and combined with the warm, fresh dough it is a heavenly mouthful. These little holes were much more filling than I would have guess- the dough had a chewy texture that was familiar, but I still can't place what it reminds me of. Golden Maple- John picked this one and again, surprisingly not too sweet. The holes coated in maple syrup and topped with oreo crumbles was a wonderful treat! We also tried the Plain Jane- cinnamon holes are just SO GOOD & the OG with honey and cinnamon were both just delicious. Funny how such a small amount of food filled us up! Coffee- not my favorite, but I enjoy medium roast and smooth coffee. This coffee was just ok for my taste, but I am sure others will love it. I did not like the lids to their cups, the flip cap in the lid wouldn't secure open. I ended up taking the lid off completely because it was annoying. Maybe it was just my lid? I will for sure be back to try more! And I want that Bougasta hole!!! Cream filled, I will be on the lookout for when they have them again.
