    #1 Cold Cut Classic (ngui)

I was in Charlotte for the weekend and really wanted to try a new banh mi spot and i am so glad i tried this place out! I placed an online order and everything was ready by the time it said it was. I order 6 banh mos, 5 cold cuts and 1 grilled pork. Everything was delicious and the bread and everything in the banh mi was perfect for me! I like that the bread wasn't super crunchy. We also order some summer rolls and the peanut sauce to dip it in was SO delicious! We also ordered some cakes and 1 macaron, which were also great. We ordered lychee fruit tea (not pictured) which was also tasty. All of our food was packaged great. There isn't a seating area inside just FYI. Overall, everything was so good and i can't wait to come back the next time i'm in town!

    Classic banh mi sandwich

Banh Mi sandwiches are pretty hard to beat. Texture, variety of flavors and a great price point. So I had high expectations when I popped in to Lula to get a sandwich for dinner. I opted for their "Cold Cut Classic" which at $7 is a great deal. It had the vietnamese ham and cheese and peppers and cucumbers. The baguette was nice and crunchy on the outside, leaving a pretty solid bunch of crumbs on the table and even the floor around me. Yeah, don't eat this in the car. Fantastic texture with crispy vegetables and soft cheese/meat inside. The peppers were nice and hot enhancing the flavor of the sandwich. This is honest a must stop for me every time in Charlotte. It is so cute in here and the staff is great. I LOVE their Vietnamese coffee. It's so good. Creamy and rich. Best Vietnamese coffee I've had. My favorite thing to get is their tofu Banh mi and their summer rolls. Both are so fresh and so good! Their peanut sauce for the rolls are sooo good. The banh mi is delicious. The sauce they toss the tofu in is to die for. The banh boas are made fresh as well. They are so good. Definitely a good snack. Overall give this place a 10/10! Definitely need to stop by and try.

For $22 I got the grilled pork banh mi, pate chaud pastry, an order of chicken wings, a fountain drink and the choice of a cookie or bag of chips for free. Everything was delicious and fresh. My cashier was very friendly, helpful with her suggestions. I have to go back to try the other banh mi options and the tempting desserts.

This little shop is simply amazing. I had several more hours of driving to go before I got to my destination, and needed dinner very quickly. They say not to order food after you get hungry because that leads to overordering. Well, I did exactly that. I was hungry, I had a long drive ahead of me, and I ordered way too much food. And ate it all. No regrets though, since it was over the course of five hours. The spring rolls were fresh, with crispy veggies and the lovely pork belly, with a wonderful peanut dipping sauce. The bread for the bahn mi was perfect. It had that baguette crunch on the outside, fluffy on the inside, filled with fresh veggies and savory meat. The thai tea to wash it all down was just perfect, and the chocolate cupcake was super moist and sweet.

Oh my gash! Lula Banh Mi & Bakery has my foodie heart. Came in after a work meeting nearby and almost bought up the whole menu lol. There was the sweetest lady working when I came in an we were talking up a storm about the menu and the banh mi. She was so nice and really helped me figure out what I wanted. I've only had banh mi one other time and it was good, but just okay. So our chat really helped! I ordered the roasted chicken banh mi, spring rolls with fresh made peanut sauce, nutella cupcake and a cream puff. Oh AND a Vietnamese iced coffee with honey boba!!!! Every single thing was fantastic!!! - Roasted chicken banh mi - this was so so good and a lot bigger than I expected. The cilantro was soooo present and yummy. The pickled veggies were such a great taste tied in with the rest of the sandwich. I should've added a little more pate since I like my sandwiches a lil wet lol. But it was really good! - Spring rolls with fresh made peanut sauce - these spring ROLLS and peanut sauce!!!! My gosh! DEE-lish! I couldn't believe my tastebuds were experiencing this yumminess. These had to be the freshest rolls I've ever had. - Chocolate nutella cupcake and a cream puff - the pastries were fresh, delicious and you could tell they were made in house with care. Not to sweet and so moist and fluffy. - Vietnamese iced coffee with honey boba - Lowkey, this is my new fav drink. It was quite literally perfection. How have I not had this before. I finished this off before my food even came out!!! hahaha too good! This spot is definitely on my top list of places with good grub! I ordered so much food and had leftovers for dinner and I was so happy to eat this twice in one day. Highly recommend this spot!!!!

Bomb banh mi and boba! We went for lunch during a weekday, and there were a good number of customers. Service was very friendly, and they let us know you get 5% off if you pay with cash. We got two milk teas, matcha (50% sweet) and Thai tea, along with two banh mis, grilled pork and classic cold cuts with all the toppings. The drinks and sandwiches were both perfect for lunch! I loved the bread, savory meat, and variety of fresh fillings in my grilled pork banh mi. I will happily come here again!

This charming little place opened recently in the Centrum near Home Depot, in that shopping center that felt like a wasteland after some of its shops and restaurants closed. With Super G's opening and Lula's not far away, things are looking up there. Lula's, at least to us, was a step up from Crispy Banh Mi closer in quality to Li's, on the other side of the city from us. We ordered the pork belly and the grilled pork, along with summer rolls, and they were very generously portioned, freshly made and fresh tasting, and to my thinking crazy reasonable in price. We went specifically for the sandwiches but I could see, based on the summer rolls alone, that the rest of their offerings - bun mainly - are worthy of trying. But let me pause a moment to write an ode to their coffee. Vietnamese coffee is my Achilles heel. I typically order it as dessert because it's too sweet for my regular consumption. Lula's, however, serves a tall, delightfully rich Vietnamese coffee so tasty I would have ordered a second if I hadn't been concerned about caffeine that late. We didn't try their pastries, though they did appeal. Like Anthony Bordain, Vietnamese is my favorite cuisine. Lula's is a welcome addition to a growing selection of Asian food in Charlotte, and I wish them well. I only regret they aren't on my way to work. That coffee would be a nice start to every day.

Outstanding sandwiches with friendly service. We love taking our sandwiches with us over to Home Depot and look for some key items for a DIY project. It's one of our special treats when we have time on weekends and the Home Depot crew always want to know were we get them lol so we always tell them they are lucky to have such a delicious sandwich shop nearby. I also love their iced teas and coffees and I think this is always a great to-go lunch as we run around doing errands with the sandwiches in a sturdy sleeve.

Recommended by my foodie sister, Lula's is the place to go if you need quick, tasty eats! The restaurant specializes in Vietnamese street food such as: Egg Rolls Spring Rolls Summer Rolls Handcrafted Banh Mi Rice + Noodle Dishes In addition, various drinks (including milk teas) and desserts are also on the menu. There is minimal dining, but online ordering, takeout, delivery, and catering are available. What I tried: SUMMER ROLLS (NEM CUṌN) - 3 rolls for $6 - sweet pork sausage, egg crisp, lettuce, cucumber, cilantro and peanut sauce - The peanut sauce brings the FLAVOR to these rolls while the rolls serve up TEXTURE. It is the Oscar award winner. I do not recommend eating the rolls without the sauce or in other words, the sauce is MANDATORY. CRISPY PORK BELLY HANDCRAFTED BANH MI (HEO QUAY) - $8.50 - Vietnamese baguette served with roasted pork belly, aioli, cilantro, cucumber, jalapenos, pickled daikon and carrots - One of the highlights of this sandwich is the freshness of the bread. The crust is also crisp while the texture of the inside is rather soft. The pork belly was well-seasoned and paired perfectly with the toppings. BROWN SUGAR MILK TEA ($4.95) - This was my first milk tea ever and it set the standard HIGH. The first thing I tasted when I drunk this is molasses as it is the main ingredient found in brown sugar. LOVED EVERY SIP.

    Tofu banh mi

Did I find it? Is this the best banh mi on my list? Full disclosure I'm participating in a banh mi search through North Carolina. I immediately texted my husband and told him I won't be surprised if this is the winner. The place is small: outdoor table, warm, small counter. Menu is simple, but hey that's banh mi. I got a tofu banh mi and chatted a bit with the woman taking orders. She was super friendly and we talked a little about my tattoos as my sandwich arrived. Banh mi needs good bread: it's literally make or break for banh mi. This bread is made in house and epic. Crunchy, soft, chewy: all perfect. Second to bread is the protein: the tofu was PERFECT. Fried but chewy and well seasoned. The pickled veggies were crisp and refreshing, I've never actually had a long slice of cucumber like that and it was a great balance in texture! The jalapeños were just enough spice. 10/10 would change nothing! Incredible banh mi

After hearing a few friends talk about how much they love this new spot, my husband and I stopped by to try it. We got the Chicken Wings (cánh gà) and Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi (heo quay). These might just be the best wings in Charlotte. They are so juicy and flavorful. They have no sauce, which isn't my typical choice for wings, but trust me, they don't need it. The banh mi was pretty good too. The bread was really soft though and I like my bread crispy on a banh mi.

A friend from out of town that was visiting recommended Lula Banh Mi and Bakery and the nibblings and I ran to give them a try. The little eatery is pushing out some delicious authentic Vietnamese food. We ordered so much. We got the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, Summer Rolls (Nem Cuốn), Spring Rolls (Gỏi Cuốn) and Pork Rolls ( Nem Nướng Cuốn). I would have gotten more if it was available. I want to try their Pate Chaud and a few other dishes. I was excited to see Cha Lua in a small refrigerator case and my nibblings were excited to see freeze dried candies. Each item we ordered was delicious. The peanut sauce that comes with the rolls was so creamy. The Banh Mi baguette was crispy and the full of fresh herbs and meat. The Spring rolls were fresh and held their shape when I ate them cold. If you're looking for Vietnamese Banh Mi and snacks on the south side Lula's is doing an awesome job!!! The first thing that caught my attention was the beautifully designed interior. The café has a cozy, modern vibe that's perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends over coffee. We ordered a couple of lattes, and both were rich, smooth, and well balanced. They also have a nice selection of bakery items, so we couldn't resist trying a muffin and a slice of cake. Both were fresh, delicious, and paired perfectly with our drinks. Even though it was just a quick stop, the quality of the coffee, the tasty pastries, and the welcoming atmosphere left a great impression. It's the kind of coffee shop that makes you want to stay a little longer. We'll definitely be stopping by again the next time we're passing through Pineville!

They have wifi here and I had my laptop with me, so I powered on and checked in on work for a bit which mostly meant sipping coffee, watching people come and go, and sending just enough emails to look like I was being productive while enjoying the quiet rhythm of the place. Parking was tighter than usual today because some construction had blocked off the street spaces and the adjacent lot was completely full, so I ended up across the street in a municipal lot which worked out fine. Pineville almost always has parking somewhere if you're willing to shift over a block or two, and today was no exception even with the congestion. They had offered samples of their lemon tart at the event, which stayed on my mind--so I came back and ordered the Lorraine-style quiche. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced by a fresh side salad. I paired it with a café au lait, which was equally well done. The ambiance is effortlessly chic--very much reminiscent of a European café--and it was lively during lunch. It's the kind of place where you can sit, linger, and people-watch... and SouthPark definitely showed up in style. At one point, several guests seated near us were speaking French, which added to the authenticity and overall experience. Service was warm and efficient, even with the crowd. The bakery itself is on the smaller side--you order inside and then head outside to sit and eat. I went on a Sunday, so it was very busy with a long line, but it moved quickly. When seating fills up, the neighboring restaurant allows use of their patio, which is a thoughtful touch. My friend enjoyed her quiche as well, and we both agreed it's a spot worth returning to--whether for a casual lunch, coffee, or a pastry break. I also order a few macarons to go and my family enjoyed them.

Review for Renaissance Patisserie…read more After relocating to Charlotte from San Francisco, one of the first things I searched for was a proper kouign-amann (pronounced queen-ah-mahn). It's a staple where I'm from, and when I discovered that Renaissance Patisserie carried it, I made the drive immediately. I'm happy to say--this place is the real deal. The kouign-amann here reminded me of the ones back in San Francisco. It wasn't quite as buttery or rich as some of the West Coast versions, but it was absolutely enjoyable--and most importantly, I finished every bite. That alone says a lot. Location & setting: Renaissance is tucked into the upscale specialty shops of SouthPark, in a lovely, polished shopping center surrounded by quality retailers like Williams Sonoma and several restaurants. Parking is plentiful and convenient, and once you step out of your car, you're welcomed into a charming outdoor courtyard that feels relaxed and refined. You'll immediately notice the bright yellow awning--it's cheerful and inviting--and inside, the bakery is just as charming. The black-and-white tile floors, small bistro tables, and beautifully arranged pastry case create a classic European feel. It's not a huge space--maybe six or seven tables--but it feels cozy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. What makes it special: * A stunning pastry case filled with beautifully crafted desserts and laminated pastries * Skilled bakers and decorators--you can tell there's real craftsmanship behind the products * Friendly, efficient service * Apple Pay accepted (always appreciated) * Self-service water and condiments station * Clean, comfortable environment * A lovely outdoor patio that's perfect when the weather cooperates I do wish they occasionally experimented with more creative variations of the kouign-amann--perhaps seasonal fruit or specialty flavors--but even in its classic form, it's consistently a hit. I've brought these pastries to friends and gatherings, and they're always well received. What I appreciate most is that Renaissance delivers on quality and consistency. It may be a newer trend here in Charlotte, but these pastries have been a long-standing favorite in cities like San Francisco, and it's wonderful to see that level of craftsmanship available locally. Bottom line: Beautiful pastries, fair prices, great service, and a polished, welcoming atmosphere. This has become my go-to bakery in Charlotte, and if you appreciate well-made French pastries, you will not be disappointed.
