Fried tofu, vegetarian, bahn mi. Wonderful texture and flavors.

I have been a regular at the South Blvd location for almost 5 yrs as it's close to work. The Ballentyne location is near home and I wanted to see how they compare. I will jump to the conclusion, it is perfect. Great food. Amazing value. Really nice service. Fantastic location. My kids each had the chicken bahn mi and I had the fried tofu. Everything was perfect with great texture. I have had several bahn mi locally which are soggy or without much flavor. That is never a problem with Crispy! The Ballentyne location was just as good as the South Blvd. I am already planning to visit again next weekend.

Crispy Banh Mi is one of my favorites. I would much rather have lunch food for breakfast, so the fact that Crispy opens at 9am makes me happy. I would not recommend eating a banh mi in your car, you get crumbs everywhere from their delicious french bread, trust me, I have learned the hard way. I can't even drive by without stopping for a Thai iced tea. They have the best Thai tea in Charlotte. I ventured into their Vietnamese desserts, these sweet concoctions are delicious and a great treat for kids and adults to try. Their whole menu is reasonably priced, especially for the quality/price/portion ratio. The new Ballantyne location is super cute and a great place to stop for a quick bite. If you aren't familiar with the shopping center, Crispy is in the shops behind the Mellow Mushroom, so drive around what seems to be the back of the shops.

Very yummy sandwich and nice little place. It is on the backside of the shopping strip near the end. Would definitely go again.

I've been here for coffee and pastries before but it was many years ago and I was not originally paying For a place that charges hearty prices for everything I find it astounding that we have to order at a counter, AND put away our own plates afterwards. It also makes no sense to me that we had to wait for our coffee at the counter but our food is already brought to us at our table. It's not even the employees faults- it's the design of the restaurant process. The food tasted good but almost everyone (7 people) said some aspect of it was cold and should have been at least warm. Both French toasts? Cold. Croissant sandwich? Cold. Either way, I wouldn't come back for food specifically to eat. The employees were all helpful but definitely understaffed on a weekend in my opinion. They did the best they could and were nice. In my opinion after a handful of years- the decor seems tacky. It all is mismatched and just looks beat up- not vintage or antique so that it seems kinda random. I feel like in 2015 this style or idea was popular and kitschy but now ...maybe I've just grown up The pastries were good but also super expensive. So choose wisely!

When I went to redeem my Goodiebag offer the guy working the counter was amazing. I got there very close to closing and he was so sweet. He went into the counter and filled our bag was savory treats. There was around 7/8 items in the bag. Everything he put in the bag was a surprise to us. We noticed a few of the names but they looked alike in the bag. Now we had 2 with hamburger meat/ground beef. They were our favorites. One had ham and cheese and one had corn and cheese. Both were delicious. Small round cheese breads were very chewy. Our least favorite was the hot dog but it wasn't terrible. We opted to get a sweet treat also and loved it also. It was a milk and coconut twisted bread. All in all I was super impressed with what we got and all the delicious flavors. We split the goodie bag items between 3 people and were very satisfied. Romeo and Juliet Brazilian Cafe 1605 Galleria Blvd Ste 105 Charlotte, NC 28270 (Review 16 in 2024 and 816 overall)

I do wish that all counter staff could communicate in English as I ended up a few times with things I would not have ordered and it was due to miscommunication and again the price is expensive and worth it when on point. The restaurant was busy, but there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. Our server, Sada, was attentive and took our order within five minutes. The food arrived within ten minutes and was really good. I say "really good" instead of "great" because I've visited the original locations in New Orleans (Ruby Slipper), and you just can't beat food in NOLA. We ordered the same dishes we had there to make a fair comparison. I had the catfish and grits with a side of one cinnamon swirl pancake (a perfect combination) and iced coffee. My wife had the avocado toast--she said it tasted the same and loved that they cut the toast into four pieces here. My food tasted almost identical. I think the gravy here didn't have tasso and was a bit less seasoned (which isn't a bad thing, since dishes in New Orleans can sometimes be overseasoned). The pancake made me smile, and the iced coffee was good too. I'm happy to know I can get this meal anytime I'm in Charlotte. Ruby Sunshine is definitely at the top of my list for breakfast/brunch.

The standout for me was the blueberry lavender mimosa, easily the best mimosa I've had. It was a generous pour, too, which made it even better. As for the food, the fried green tomatoes were a bit disappointing, coming out rubbery instead of crisp. On the other hand, the biscuit was absolutely amazing, perfectly done and definitely worth ordering. Overall, a mix of hits and misses, but a few items really shined.

The inside was immaculate and beckoning, with a two-sided display of the offerings and a shining espresso machine behind the register. The workers bore welcoming smiles and a a polite, inviting nature. All of that is the reason I give this patisserie three stars instead of two. While some foods are still a mystery to me - barbecue I can just take or leave, mostly leave - I know coffee and I know baked goods. The croissant I sampled was dry, implying unkindly that the flaky pastry dough was either formerly frozen or not fresh, and while croissants aren't exactly the moistest pastry to be found, the idea behind making them is kneading and rolling in a lot of butter, which I truly could not taste. What a disappointment. And somehow, somehow, my latte, albeit freshly prepared before me, was lukewarm when I took my first sip on the way to the car. How is that even possible? At the last minute, I asked for caramel to be added to my drink, but that was imperceptible too. I'd forgotten to ask for it to be half sweet, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise. When you stop by a bakery late in the day you sort of pays your money and takes your chances, but I visited just before noon. No crowds either. Disappointing all around, though again, the ambiance invites lingering. Cute bistro, lovely people, but - and I cannot believe I'm saying this - I'd have done better at the nearby Starbucks if all I wanted to do was get a latte and pastry. As the French would say, domage.

I asked for a pasty recommendation and the cashier said her favorite was the Mixed Berry Danish. So I had to give it a try. Everything in the case looked delicious. I knew it would be floral and it was floral but almost tasted medicinal. Like I was drinking a cough syrup latte. It wasn't sweet at all and I had to force myself to drink it. Yes I finished it cause in this economy I don't have $7 to waste on a matcha latte. I will not order the Blue Matcha Latte again but I will return. I'm very interested in the $35 afternoon tea. That's about the only thing that went right. Our server stopped by briefly while my wife stepped away and took a drink order (waters). My wife was back at the table within two minutes. From that point on, we were completely ignored. Not "a little slow"--completely ignored. We sat there for 18 minutes without a single check-in, no order taken, nothing. Meanwhile, the same server was actively waiting on other tables, including people who were seated after us. At that point, it was obvious we weren't just overlooked--we were being disregarded. We got up and left. On the way out, my wife tried to say something to a staff member and was met with a blank stare and no response. I told the hostess we were leaving after being ignored, and her response was "see ya." No apology, no attempt to fix it--just complete indifference. Another customer nearby even said, "not professional today, are we?" which pretty much said it all. To make things worse, the restroom was disgusting. The only available stall (the handicapped stall) was filthy and completely unusable. That alone should have been a red flag for how this place is being managed. I called afterward and spoke with the manager on duty, Johnny, to get contact information for the district manager--and was given the wrong number. I had to call a different First Watch just to get the correct one. That's not just poor service--that's incompetence. I actually like First Watch as a brand, which makes this even more frustrating.
