At long last, Berkeley finally has its own Lululemon, at the intersection of College & Ashby. This is a smallish store, but it carries what we all go to Lululemon for - the yoga pants, in different styles and lengths. (with free hemming for shorties like me). It is true: these pants make you look f-i-n-e. They also carry sports bras, shirts, cute gym bags, yoga accoutrement, and there is a small section for male yogis, too. All the women who work here are great - wonderfully upbeat, charismatic, and helpful. read more

Don't go to this store if you want to return anything, even if you have a receipt! They would not accept packaged, *unopened* underwear that was purchased for full price and i had the receipt! I contacted online lulu and was told that unopened underwear is returnable!! But each store can make up their own return policy as they are encouraged to be "entrepreneurial". I consider an inconsistent return policy to be bad customer service! Never going to this location again. Walnut Creek is very nice about returns. read more

Yes, their apparael is VERY expensive. I mean, $54 for a pair of shorts? Even that is almost ridiculous. But I love said shorts! The staff here is great. After a very negative customer service experience at the Walnut Creek Lululemon, I swore I would never, ever, never, never, ever set foot in one of their stores again. Then I decided I wanted cuter workout clothes and the rest is history. I went to the Berkeley store today and was greeted by friendly and almost insultingly beautiful women. But I couldn't hate them because they were so nice and knowledgeable about the product. To avoid complete addiction, I didn't even try on pants. Next time. I came specifically for tanks and found them to be stylish, flattering and well constructed. Those designated as medium support were very supportive but still comfortable. I'm very happy to find tops that can actually be worn without a sports bra underneath. One star revoked for price. Yes, the clothes are well made and yes the prices for tops are comparable to other athletic brands but it's still not right. read more

lululemon - it's not just for women or for yoga anymore(or it's just my opinion). Sure, they're ungodly expensive. You'll be forced to explain why you're wearing lulu(if you're wearing something with more obvious branding like their hoodies) to our fellow brethren. You might even note your bank account has gotten thinner. I own a few lulu items - and all of them are well made, nicely detailed, functional, and yes, expensive. I highly suggest their Silverescent shirts - read my review of the Cow Hollow store. I've been to this location on a few occasions, and it's smaller than the Walnut Creek or SF locations. It feels intimate. However, I went there yesterday afternoon when they got slammed. I did walk out in 15 minutes with a new hoodie to replace 2 Hollister ones - the lulu one is much better made and detailed. And did I say you don't look like a mall tool? read more

Located on the corner of Ashby/College, this store is easily accessible by the 51B, or you can try and find street parking (I recommend going through the residential areas to find parking, or there is a small lot where you can enter from college onto Russell). It's a lot smaller than other Lululemon's in the bay area. Customer service could use some work here -- I've walked in without a greeting (I don't need one, but sometimes I'm in a rush and want some help asap). I've had issues returning brand new things with receipts (there should not be an issue there).. and sometimes they are super pushy about returning things. They will always try and convince you to do an exchange instead. The inventory here is also really small -- it seems like there are so many more women things than men things! Sales items are also all L+ or strange items. I absolutely love Lululemon but I don't think this store is a good representation of the brand and it's products. read more

Wow, so after forwarding my feedback (see my previous review) to Lululemon via the company website, a company rep. responded right back to me on 3/2, forwarded the feedback to the store manager, and the store manager emailed me today on 3/5! The company rep Tara also offered me the jacket I wanted at the sale price direct from company. I was pleasantly surprised at the quick responses. Though they did not express interest in changing the store policies I thought were unreasonable, the feedback was relayed to the staff and they did apologize. Unlike some other Yelpers, I received great service at this location. I had purchased a lulu bra online, only to have the stitching unravel after a couple of wears (highly uncharacteristic of lulu). I brought it in to this location, no tag, no receipt. They not only offered to send it to a seamstress for free, but even gave me the option of trading it in for a brand new bra even though they do not sell this particular style anymore! I ended up going with the seamstress and the seam came out perfectly. It's worth paying a premium when you know a company stands behind its product. read more

Great staff! Great customer service! I am picky and indecisive. I came into the store not knowing what I wanted and probably went back and forth from the dressing rooms 5-6 times (seriously) and each staff member was always friendly, helpful, not pushy but attentive. Soo expensive, but I do love the clothes. The colors are always really fun (black got boring quickly in yoga class!), and the pants are great. Everything wicks away the sweat and fits well. I like my yoga to be on the Power Yoga side, so I like to sweat - cotton clothes just don't cut it. This Lululemon is really tiny compared to others I've been to, but they do a good job with the layout. Everyone was really helpful and friendly. I went in asking for some yoga studio recommendations, and they were all really eager to help and gave a few great suggestions. Hint: They have stuff on sale almost all the time, you just have to search a little for it. The shirts on sale are just tucked in along the shirt wall with the others. I tied to return a pair of pants here that had all of their tags attached and I had my original receipt only to find out that they have a 2 week rerun policy.... Are you kidding me! I was never notified of the policy when I purchased the pants (prior to a week long vacation) or I would have made sure I liked them before I left. After complaining they said that they would make an exception an give me a gift card... Oh wow, thanks! Never going back! P.S. I recently bought some Old Navy compression black pants and they were amazing and you can literally buy 6 pairs of Old Navy pants for the same price as one lululemon pair. I've been to numerous lululemon locations in the Bay Area, southern California, and Portland, and this store has some of the best customer service I've experienced and a great stock of favorites. Before going online about merchandise checks, go into the store and check it out for yourself; websites aren't very accurate about specific locations' stock. This particular location stocks some favorites year round, albeit it's a pretty small space in comparison to others in SF. The employees are always willing to go above and beyond to help you find the right fit and they aren't just trying to get a sell. A lot of them are athletes in the studio and at Crossfit, so it's nice to receive various perspectives and opinions. read more

I came here with 2 returns - 1 return had 3 items and the other had 4. The associate, Maddie, rudely declined my return and said I couldn't return it in stores and had to send it back to the warehouse. I asked why since I had already driven all the way there and my return was within the return policy. Maddie said, "we are a smaller, lower volume store so taking in such a large return will hurt our sales and numbers." She then clarified that she could've helped if I just had 2 items to return, it would've been a different story. Keep this in mind - they're a "low volume, smaller" store so if you're here to shop, you probably won't find what you're looking for. If you're here to return, make sure you don't have more than 2 items. If you do, split it into multiple trips or else they won't take it. LOVE their clothes (like I've said on every other Lululemon review in the bay area) - this location is much smaller than downtown SF, Cow Hollow, and Burlingame), but naturally carries the same wonderful ass-pants. You can't beat these clothes for quality, look, and fit. The girl here (well, a couple weeks ago when I visisted) was fairly helpful but was almost a little attitude-y. But might just have been what she's like - I can't complain, because she was attentive and helpful nonetheless. The only thing I wish is that they carry all the stuff on their website (the reason I've been into every single Lululemon in the bay area is this wonderful sweatshirt they have on there I can't find anywhere...) - or at least sold their stuff online. I do recognize that they needed to mount a campaign to let people know the location now caters to males in equal portion but REALLY? Once you get into the store, the staff are great, and offer great service. However, be prepared to stand in line outside of the store before going inside because of COVID. There is street parking, however it is a hassle to find a park depending on the time of day you visit this location. Something noticeably different about this location... security is elevated to a higher level, there is an armed Berkeley policeman stationed at the entrance of the store. While Yelpers seem to liken the lululemon logo to a horseshoe, I think it reminds me of the hair from hairspray. Anyways, there's really two things to review. The clothes/prices and the customer service. First, the clothes. After you get over the logo, you really have to see the store as a place for yoga/workout clothes (not "pants I can get away with wearing to work since I paid $100 for them"). I wouldn't count myself a yuppie willing to spend $100 on yoga pants, though I would have an active use for them. Yes, their clothes are "quality" and snuggle your butt well. I felt slightly out of place when the rest of their customers didn't seem to think twice about the price. Nice amenities -- Free tea, filter water (missed the butter cookies that other Yelpers wrote about). Customer service -- wow, they train their people well. I like the whiteboard with the customer's name in the changing room. Staff seemed to be generally knowledgeable about the products. Moreover, they really seem to LOVE the products and the company. It shows (and also makes a nice sales technique). Three of us came in, with only one of us intending to buy. We walked out with 3 reusable lululemon bags, one per person. (All 3 items were marked down). There's either something in their free tea, or their people and products are just that charming. I'm guessing it's their people and products. read more

Let me say again... I totally LOVE Lululemon.... We went to this location after shopping in the Walnut Creek Location earlier in the day. Everyone here was nice & helpful. I was looking for something specific, and they let me shop like I asked. I have 2 small gripes (?) 1) They had few (like the WC store) items that I wanted in sizes 10 & 12. PLEASE get more into this store too... 2) Someone brought their dog in (which aggravates the crap out of me & I know people love their pets, but people please --- I am seriously allergic!!!) The nice sales guy played with the dog, then touched my stuff while ringing me up--- without washing/hand sanitizing. There was some hair on my stuff.... So, this is a 4 + 1/2 star review. My name is Myka, and I'm a Lulu-holic. Every time I pass by a Lulu I go in. Every time I go in I try something on. Every time I try something on I buy it. Needless to say, it's a vicious cycle. For all of you haters out there who say that spending over $100 on a pair of yoga pants is ridiculous, you obviously 1) don't own a pair of Lulus, 2) probably say the same things about Ugg boots, and 3) are not a professional lounger. There is absolutely nothing better than lounging in yoga pants, and Lululemons are absolutely, hands down, the best yoga pants on the market. No don't get me wrong, I like a good deal just as much as the next guy and Target is basically my middle name, but when you want to make an investment in bettering your relaxation life, this is the place to start. But this review is supposed to be about the Berkeley store, which I pretty much love as much as the brand itself. I'm not exactly sure what all the rants about the customer service are about, I have been here several times and find it to be the friendliest Lulu I've ever been in. The staff is super personable and friendly, overwhelmingly helpful without being pushy, and just chatty enough with each other that you can tell they love their coworkers. Walking in there is like being the new kid in school who gets invited to sit at the lunch table with the pretty people, only to find out you have everything in common! "You watch Rock of Love? I watch Rock of Love!!" Sure the parking kind of sucks and driving in Berkeley is a pain in the ass, but that doesn't stop me from coming in and serving my addiction. read more

Lululemon has the best yoga/exercise pants, hands-down: super-comfortable, flattering, cute, and they last a while. The workers at this store, though, were too busy and seemingly "too cool" for me; not helpful, not nice. HOWEVER, the new Lululemon that just opened up in Walnut Creek is the opposite: very friendly staff who are focused on making their brand new store successful. The staff was down to earth, knowledgeable and just made the who experience fun. And! The new Walnut Creek store is huge, offering lots more than the Rockridge store. There were dozens of pant styles available and tons of selection in colors/sizes... yay! read more

I love lululemon, and was sad to see the Ashby/college location had relocated to 4th St in Berkeley. I guess I was sad at how much longer it would take me to get there but I was fine with it, crossing my fingers in hope the warm customer service would be the same and sadly it wasn't. Girls were not helpful, they looked unhappy and angry to be there, fitting room experience felt like I was inconveniencing them, even purchasing my items made me feel awkward. It's sad cause this is going to my local lululemon and I not going to stop buying clothing from here but I'm definitely not going to look forward to coming to shop like I use to be. read more
