The quality is terrific-all fresh and delicious ingredients....and a little on the hot side. Add some of the mysterious red or green sauce and your mouth will be on fire! But it's sooo good. My friend chose here to eat because she wanted to try their chicken mole pizza. The pizzas here are pretty big ! A medium is enough for 2 people, but we all ended up getting different flavors, the lulu combo, birria, and the chicken mole. My favorite was the birria pizza because it came with the birria soup / sauce and the flavor was so rich and deep. The lulu combo was supposed to come with alot of meat but I felt like all of their pizzas could have had more toppings on them. The flavor was good but the pizza was mostly dough. Wow, what a treat! I love pizza in any form, and this birria did not disappoint. The birria was tender and went really well with the airy pizza crust, but dipping the pizza in the consume was supreme! The carne asada fries were good, but had a tad bit too much cheese for my liking (though my gf really enjoyed it). Great take on Mexican ingredients- taking regular dishes and mixing it up and putting it into pizza style. Like Burria tacos. We love that kind of taco so we were there to try their signature Burria pizza. And yes! Highly recommend! Came on a Saturday evening and it was surprisingly slow! We walked in and was taken right to a table! We ordered the Carne Asada Fries for an appetizer. Do not forget to order/ try this! YUMM! I would recommend to the chef at Lulu's to include some sort of crispy topping to the pizza, and make the crust a little bit thinner. The additional consommé sauce that comes with the pizza was really tasty and flavorful. I had a lot of fun dipping my pizza slices into the broth. Torta Asada Tradicional: $11.99 - the same asada meat that was used on the fries were also included in the sandwich. The torta included homemade bread and was very tasty. The fries were crispy but pretty standard. Mami's Churros: $5.99 - each order comes with four pieces. The churros were stuffed with caramel and chocolate. What I really like about the dessert was the extra generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. The warm churros paired nicely with the cold creamy dessert. Overall, Lulu's offers an interesting new perspective on pizza with its Latin flavors. The food is comforting but heavy. Be sure to arrive with an empty stomach. We ordered a virgin piña comada but received one with alcohol. The staff was attentative quickly helped us exchange the drink. A new drink was remade for us. The manager on staff was also friendly when we asked questions about the restaurant. Apparently they opened in the Fall and service was slow. So many things to love. A great restaurant fairly close to my house (why should I have to go to SLC or Provo for everything??). Huge parking lot with lots of open spots. Super fast friendly service. And guess what gluten-free people- you aren't stuck with just one pizza size! I got the 10 inch cauliflower crust birria pizza and my friend got the same pizza and size but normal crust. We both loved it. That looks like a lot of onion but it works. Great balance of flavors. And I'm happy to report they didn't try any weird fusion stuff. Had heard great things about this place so see had to see for ourselves. Came on a Friday night and didn't have to wait. They do have a YELP waitlist it looks like. We were seated with a high chair, and after waiting a bit, our server did come to our table. Luckily once we ordered the food came out fairly quickly. The atmosphere still seems confused. Our server Alexandra (I think?) was super knowledgable and helpful. We're coming back for sure and telling all of our friends/family to try it. The ambiance was clean and warm and relaxing. The food was AMAZING. The pizzas are doughy and fresh. They did not skimp out on toppings either, these things are loaded. We didn't even finish a whole 18" pizza btwn two adults. Everything was surprisingly cheaper than we expected it to be too, if you've had curry pizza this is less than that but more filling food. I think the two of us would have been full from splitting the torta alone. The torta was my favorite. The bread was perfectly crispy and the asada was so so good. Big fan of the Mexican restaurant next door, and they are under the same owners from what I heard, so I had to come give Lulu's Hot Oven a try! We got 1 Birria pizza on cauliflower crust, 1 normal crust, and a cheese mini pizza, which was free with a coupon they had at the front door. We actually preferred the cauliflower crust that one wasn't too bad, but the regular one I wasn't a fan of at all just not my style of crust for pizza, too airy and not super flavorful and the consume was overly salty. Gave Lulus Hot Oven a try on Saturday for lunch. Heard they had great gluten free pizza crust and other options so we gave it a try. The food was pretty good but not extraordinary. We had to try their pina colada's with booze but they were out of "pineapple" to make the mugs so they came in a large glass. Pretty good drink but I question if they even had rum in them. We then had the sweet chili wings, Hawaiian pizza and my daughter had the barria tacos. Wings were great. Pizza toppings were great, very fresh but the dough left something to be desired. My daughter enjoyed the tacos but not the best. Overall, it's not a bad place to try but won't go out of my way to go there. The service was a 2 out of 5. The experience would've been much worse, had our food not tasted relatively good. Coming from the fact that my friends and I have all worked in the restaurant industry, you know it is bad when we all collectively agree that the service was intentionally horrible. We are pretty dang understanding when it comes to stuff like this. We go to restaurants weekly and have never had issues this bad with the service, as we did at Lulu's. Still, the food wasn't bad. Upon approaching Lulu's Hot Oven, we see an awesome blow up character that looks a helluva lot like Patrick Star. Except, I think it is supposed to be a slice of pizza. He takes up two parking spots but it is a really cute, inviting touch to the restaurant. We walked in and we were greeted and seated pretty quickly, this was the best experience we had with the service throughout our entire time there. We continued to sit there for probably over 15 minutes while the staff continued to walk by us, stand in the back, or do whatever else. I mean, I completely understand they are still fairly new and trying to work out the kinks, but it just seemed more deliberate than it was a resultant of being busy. Typically, you order drinks and maybe appetizers, and then decide on food later. We knew our entire order by the time someone finally came over to our table. We ordered waters and bottles of coke for the table. We didn't get all the drinks and needed to wave for another 10-15 minutes to get the rest of them. In addition, we got the loaded fries for our appetizer. I cannot remember what it was called but it was loaded with sausage, cheese, pico, sour cream, and some other stuff. This came out fresh and tasted good. I think some more seasoning on the fries would've helped a little bit. We then got the birra pizza, the sebastian, and the taco pizza. We all had different favorites. I personally liked the birria pizza the most, then the taco pizza, then the sebastian. The birria pizza was delicious--we did get the cauliflower crust and it still tasted great. The crust had a consume flavor to it, there was cheese and birria meat throughout the pizza, and it was topped with cilantro and onions. The taco pizza had all your typical taco ingredients on the pizza. It also tasted really good. The crust was thick and fluffy. The sebastian was very interesting. They used beans instead of sauce and then it was topped with sausage and bacon. I felt like it needed something else, but I really liked the bean approach--I have never had a pizza quite like it! Another important note is that the pizzas do not seem to taste the same once they have cooled off. We all noticed a complete difference in flavor when they weren't hot and melty anymore. We were dying to try the churros for dessert so we ordered those before closing out. We saw other tables ordering them and they looked amazing. Because of the size of our party, we ordered two of them. Once they arrived at our table, the churros were pretty hot. They are stuffed churros--though, I am not 100% sure what they are stuffed with. They were out of this world good. They were drizzled in chocolate sauce and paired well with the ice cream. The ice cream was a good touch, though I think vanilla bean ice cream instead would make it all the more better. Throughout our time at Lulu's Hot Oven, we were trying to figure out the vibe of the restaurant. They really didn't stick to a certain theme within the concept. I feel like the atmosphere could be more fun and inviting in some ways. I think they definitely have some kinks to work out with the overall structure of the business--even the menu has kind of an odd layout. Desserts are on the first page and there are pop ups on the table that mention they have birria tacos and wings--but they're not on the menus we were given. It seems a bit scattered right now but I think they're easy fixes that can be worked out as they get more established. I am on the fence about if I would go back or not. We typically don't have a "rude server" but this one was up there. As I went to pay for our hundred dollar order, I was hoping she would hand me the mobile POS so I could do so. Instead she held it in her hand super tightly, facing her, when I tried to grab it, she was staring at me with a dirty look on her face as it asked for a tip. I feel like this was almost a weird way to try to intimidate me to tip better, but it really had the opposite effect. Throughout our time at the restaurant, we unanimously agreed that she was rude with us and I cannot think of a time in which we have ever said this at another restaurant. As great as the food was, I am not dying to go back to have someone act like that throughout my experience. As for everyone else, I'd still recommend going and trying their awesome menu items, I just hope others have a better experience with the staff. read more
